Review: The company has failed to explain all charges related to move. Was double charged for travel time. Very unprofessional. Damaged walls and broke items. No claim form given.

MOVER BE AWARE.... This company has unscrupulous. Business practice. They quote you a really low price and then hold your possessions hostage until you pay the escalated double price of hidden charges. John is a main contact person who gives you the quote and then on your move date he is no where to be found. I believe the driver and John are the same person. They charge you from the time they leave their office to the time they get back to their office after the job is complete. So if they are stuck in traffics for 7 hours... Oh yeah... You will pay. They driver hardly works and is very confrontational. His name is Valdamire and he may be John as well.. Alex is apparently the manager. He is matter of fact person. Not concerned.

There was no confirmation call. I had to call the day before to make sure that the movers were coming.

They damage your walls and claim that they are not responsible.m they also leave behind mounds and mounds of trash for you to clean up.

Their contract states that they are uniformed professionals. They didn't have any uniforms on that identified them.

They overloaded the truck and could not fit all of my furniture on the truck. The driver informed me that to get to my new location we had to take 95 south but he had to get off at exit 161ish to avoid the weigh in station...

Attached is a letter I sent John after my move and of course ......no Response

John,

Just wanted to let you know how disappointed I am with your service and that I will be contacting the Revdex.com with a complaint. Your billing practice is substandard and the contract is very vauge. My husband and I will also be contacting 7 on your side to see if the do anything.

Your contract states a total of 11 hours. I was charged 11 hours in addition to travel time. For a total of 14 hours

Driver arrived at 9am left to go to Virginia at 2pm. Stopped at your office to get a strap.

The total time to load was 5 hours. The driver arrrived at my house in virginia at 5. That's a to total of 2 hours travel time. They finished unloading at 835. So that time was 3.5 hours.. Travel time was 2 hours from maryland to va. 5 loading + 3.5 unloading + 2 travel from maryland to Virginia equals 10.5 hours. Why I was charged an additional 3 hours is beyond me.

Please provide explanation.

Vladimir the driver was very condescending towards me. The other workers were great.

I don't expect you to respond. Just wanted you to know of my frustrations and my plans to give you a very poor rating on yelp angies list and billy.com and Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I want to be refunded the travel time' it was already built into the time covered for the move

Response:

Thank you for forwarding the

complaint to our attention, we would like to offer the following response. [redacted] received an estimate for 11 hours of service including 3 hours of

travel time. The estimate was provided in good faith based on information [redacted] provided to the consultant. The

estimate [redacted] received indicated that packing materials were not

included and that fragile / easily damaged items such as glass tables, mirrors,

electronics, etc. had to be properly wrapped prior to loading. The estimate

also explained that a 10% fuel surcharge would be applied to the final cost of

service. We respectfully deny [redacted]’s claim that there were any hidden

charges.

On the date of service [redacted]

required packing services for fragile items which were provided by the moving

team. The hourly charges are clearly outlined on the Bill of Lading signed by

[redacted], and correspond to the start and end times on the bill of lading -

initialed by [redacted]. The 3 hour travel time matches the travel time on the

estimate signed by [redacted]. In the end Econo Van Lines provided 3

additional hours of labor to complete the job, and [redacted] was charged for

packing materials used to protect her belongings and the aforementioned fuel

charge.

We regret that [redacted] was not

happy with the actual service or that items or property may have been damaged

in transit. Econo Van Lines has an established claim process in place to assist

our customers. We have asked our claim administrator to email claim forms to **.

[redacted] so that she may submit a claim for consideration.

[redacted] received an estimate prior to the move indicating that packing

materials were not included in the price and that a 10% fuel surcharge would be

applied to the final bill. [redacted] was

charged for the services provided and the materials used during the provision

of those services, and signed all forms agreeing to and accepting those charges.

[redacted] may submit a claim for consideration. Documentation supporting our

position is available upon request. Thank You.

Review: Advertised the price as $75.00 per hour for moving, Later there were hidden fees about packaging materials which led to additional $208.00 just for packaging supplies such as tapes, bubble wrap. If they would have told me that this is extra upfront when I paid my advance, I would have bought them myself.

Not at all punctual. Planned the move at 8 AM, they arrived at 2.30 pm.Desired Settlement: Return my money that was charged for packing.

Review: I booked a moving company called Econo Van Lines on 10/28/13 for 10/31/2013 from [redacted] to [redacted] MD. I was quoted a price of 504. My total came to over 1100$ and I talked them down to charging me $927. They charged me for extra tape, boxes, for my televisions, and dressers , and to wrap my couches. As we were driving up the highway they were following my vehicle until we got 20 miles away and disappeared and showed up 30 minutes later with numerous calls and would not answer the phone. As they were putting all my furniture in my house I was unloading some of my things and when I looked outside the truck and the 3 workers were all gone. All my things when in my house thrown everywhere a few things scratched, 2 desk were broke and none of my belongings were put together. I called the 2 phone numbers that I had for the movers and no one would answer. I finally got a hold of someone and explain to him what had happened. He was very rude told me he would call then movers and call back. He never called back nor would answer the phone again.Desired Settlement: I put done a deposit of $72, and then finished paying them when they arrived because they said if I did not they were not giving me my belongings and taking them back to the warehouse. I would like the second charge of 855$ refunded, due to having to find other people put together my belongings and buy my bolts, screws, and etc.

Thank you for forwarding the complaint to our attention, we would like to offer the following response. **. [redacted] contracted for local moving services on an hourly basis. The estimate provided by Econo Van Lines was provided in good faith based on information obtained from **. [redacted]. The charges **. [redacted] incurred represented the labor and services provided and were consistent with the estimate she received. Oh the date of service if was determined that **. [redacted] required packing services and materials which are charged in addition to the estimated price as described in the estimate **. [redacted] accepted. The service, estimated at 7 hours took 9 hours, partially due to the additional packing services required and a fuel charge, also described ini her estimate, was applied to the final cost. All charges were explained to **. [redacted] and she signed the Bill of Lading approving the charges.

As we mentioned, this contract was on an hourly basis and **. [redacted] was only charged for the actual time worked and travel time. Our team delivered the shipment into **. [redacted]’s residence however she opted not to pay for the additional labor time it would have taken to complete the assembly of her items. Any items left unassembled, was due to **. [redacted]’s decision not to pay for additional time. This was explained to **. [redacted].

Per the terms of our contact, payment is required prior to unloading. **. [redacted]’s deposit was accounted for on the Bill of Lading. We apologize if items may have been broken or damaged during transit. Claim forms have been emailed to **. [redacted] so that she may submit a claim..

As **. [redacted] utilized the services she contracted for, and it was her decision not to pay for additional time, **. [redacted] is not entitled to a refund of her charges. **. [redacted] did receive a $191 discount from the movers. She should submit a claim for her damaged items. Thank You.

I am rejecting this response because:

The information that was given by the company was incorrect. The company is a scam and since they have 19 cases in less then a year open for some of the similar situation shows that. I have 4 attached items two in which is a document explaining what happened and a picture. Please help me and don't let this company do this again. Thank you

Thank you for forwarding **. [redacted]'s rejection to our attention. **. [redacted] indicates in her rejection that our response contained inaccurate information and included attachments she claimed supported her assertion. After reviewing the two photo attachments we received, we fail to see what evidence **. [redacted] has provided showing what information she believes was inaccurate. Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because Econo vanlines is a fraudulent company. It was explained to myself and to the Revdex.com that I would recieve something to my email so I am able to file claims on what was missing or damaged. I have yet received anything from the company, just like I did not receive my services that were paid for when I moved. The company is in the wrong and never responds back to its clientele. I paid for services for a moving company that was to disemble and assemble my things. I paid for this company not to damage or misplace my items. What I got was a money hungry company who thought that they would charge a young single woman extra money and then make her pay for the move before my furniture was off the truck. Then I was threatened that my belongings would be taken back to their warehouse. This company informed me when I made my deposit I would pay for nothing until the move was complete. Econo Vanlines should no longer be in business, and I disagree with their last response.

Review: I hired Econo Van Lines to help me with a move in June. I have tried to resolve this matter with them and my credit card company. I have inserted a copy of the full detail of the complaint that I sent to Econo Van Lines customer service below. This was sent on 8/21 after multiple attempts to call them with no resolution. Since the email was sent I received a claims form from them, but not the supporting detail that I need to complete it. In addition, a customer service rep who introduced himself as Dinko was very rude to me and told me that they didn't care about my complaints and would not be doing anything to make things right. He accused me of trying to get a free move. That is not the case, I just feel very taken advantage of and my things were damaged and I was overcharged.

My email to them - this details all of my complaints:

To whom it may concern,

Econo Vanlines assisted my with my move on 6/15/2014. I called after the movers left because I had a problem with the services, some of my things were damaged and I wanted to dispute the invoice (partially). To this date I have not received a return phone call. In my message I noted several of the complaints below. I also disputed the charge on my [redacted] card. I don’t know what you will need to be able to access my job in your system, but the job number on my quote is [redacted].

I have the following complaints about my move:

- I was quoted $300, the invoice I received and was made to sign before they would unload my things was $544. I was not made aware of these charges and the person who was at my residence supervising my move was very misleading. The only charge that I anticipated in addition to the quote was for a special TV box for my TV that would be $50 additional dollars because they asked if I wanted additional assistance with that. They also advised that there would be some additional charge for tape, but that it would be less than $50. I noted later that a fuel charge of 10% would be charged, although I had not initially noticed it, when I went back to the invoice it was in the small print. Shame on me for not seeing that, but that was what I agreed to I suppose. Only when we were at my new home did they tell me that we had gone significantly above the time estimate and that there were additional charges. I was made to sign for everything (this was on a Sunday so there was no one at your office I could call) before they would leave. It was a very uncomfortable situation because I felt like I was being intimidated. There were 3 male movers in my home and me and they were telling me that they would not unload unless I signed the invoice. I didn’t see what my other option was at that point.

- I was paying for 3 movers. Three men did come out, however, one of the men was on his phone about 75% of the time. That made it all that much more frustrating when they explained that we had gone over the estimate. He spent a significant amount of time trying to sell me extras and I had to repeatedly tell him I wanted to stick to the quote. It was frustrating. I agreed to pay $75 an hour for 3 movers and one of them really didn’t assist much with moving my items. Had he been helping things would have been done much sooner.

- Several of my things were damaged, some of which I didn’t notice until later. They taped directly onto painted surfaces and the paint was pulled off. That happened to my coffee table and night stand. They scratched (pretty significantly) the top of one of my bookshelves, and they did some damaging and scratching to my white bedframe and dresser.

- They damaged the front and rear doors to my apartment. At the front door they also knocked the doorbell off and damaged that which I then had to pay approx. $20 to replace. I did not notice that until they left.

- The supervisor pressured me to tip the movers. This is something that I would have done anyway, but instead felt pressured into in a situation where I wasn’t happy with the service and felt uncomfortable and intimidated.

- The movers left my back gate open carelessly and left trash and packing material (mostly tape) in my backyard.

- The movers made a mess in my house. There was tape everywhere.

- I did not receive a bill of lading and I would like a copy of the final signed documents.

- I was told by [redacted] that you all sent me an email about damage claims. I have not received an email. I know sometimes things get held up in junk mail, but I did not see it there either. Will you please re-send the email?

It was a truly awful experience. I expect to pay for services when I purchase them…but I also expect not to be taken advantage of and to have the services performed in a professional manner and for my things not to be damaged. I would greatly appreciate it if someone from customer service would call me back to resolve this item. Thank you.

Regards,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: 1) I would like a refund of $104 for the difference between my quote of $300 and the additional fees of $50 for TV packing and $50 for tape that I agreed to, as well as the 10% gas charge - total of $440 and the final charge of $544.

2) I would like compensation of $150 for repairs that I had to do to fix my rental unit where they damages walls and doorways.

3) In addition, I need them to send me a bill of lading and itemized receipt because I need to bill of lading to submit the support needed to their insurance company for my claim for damages to my property during the move. They damaged a number of my things resulting in several hundred dollars of damages and I have not been able to get them to respond other than sending me a claims for. Without the information to complete the form it is useless.

Review: On July 28th I received a quote for my move from [redacted] to [redacted] with a month's storage at the [redacted] facility. The quote [redacted] was for $1826.69. I was provided an earlier estimate by another estimator and turned it down. Then I received this quote with a "Guaranteed Price for your Move."

I paid 364 for the deposit and then $733 for the remaining half when the goods were picked up.

Now I am being charged for extra weight (the scale is only good to the 100 pounds from what I see and they are claiming differences of pounds) and for packing material - utilizing their $50 mirror crates to wrap my table -- over $200 (with no receipt) for packing.

Now they say I have to pay $491. before they will ship my goods to [redacted] AND I will owe over $1090 when they are delivered.

The "guranteed price" went from $1826.69 to over $2400!

This is robbery and my things are being held hostage if I don't pay!Desired Settlement: I want my things scheduled for delivery on August 28 to 29th to [redacted] and will pay the remaining sum at that time. I believe it is $733. They likely think I owe more.

The agreement said nothing about additional payments because none were anticipated. 20-25% down, 50% at pickup and remaining 50% at delivery.

This is bait and switch and unethical business practice. The original estimate I refused was about $2200 and when I received another from them for $1826.69 I agreed.

Adding on nearly $700 in fees is outrageous and unethical. I want my things delivered as promised and I will pay when they are received.

Review: After deciding to move in Washington DC. I thought I'm a paramedic and I lift patients I better save my back and hire a moving company so I can keep doing the best I can at my job.

I went online and received an overwhelming response from many movers. I choose Econo Van line. Payed them $77 dollers to reserve a truck at 9am 9/2/13 (Labor Day) and was quoted a remaining balance of $288 to be payed at the end. Today at 930 no movers. I called the main number [redacted] Answers and informs me they don't have a driver. and that he will try to get someone this afternoon, maybe tomorrow at 6pm latest. I said my house is packed up my doors are wide open in downtown DC for the last half hour. When were you going to call me?

He stated "shortly"

I further stated I have to work tomorrow at Washington Hospital center to see patients.

He said what do you want me to do?

I replied please try to get a driver. If you can help me at all today I will be happy. I continued on and asked when can I expect to touch base with you.

He relied 2 hours.

In the mean time My partner called around for about an hour looking for a mover on one of the most busy moving weekends.

Well we found one who agreed to come to us at 1pm that day.

We agreed to the 2nd moving company.

I called to another econo van location to see if by chance I could talk to someone else ([redacted] VA location) and the phone call routed right to the [redacted] location where I was greeted by [redacted].

I stated to [redacted] I can't wait for you guys to come tomorrow at 6pm. I need to move now. I further stated my dogs are in kennels, I still need to clean my apartment for my walk through with my Landlord and whole house packed up. I need a refund since you guys can't tell me when your going to come. I have found another company that will come.

[redacted] stated : I cannot give you a refund of your deposit because we agreed to do your move.

At this point I was desperate and tried to explain that with cuts in healthcare many hospitals are just cutting employees and their hours. If move tomorrow I will miss work. If I miss work they document this. [redacted] said I cant deal with you now and hung up.

At that time I decided to research them so naturally I went to facebook...

I should have done my research before I hired them cause what I found across the board from this company of what they do to vulnerable people is truely unethical. People from all over saying they are a scam. I don't know how much of it is true but this I do know many horrible stories from charging 5 times the quoted price to stopping a move and refusing to finish moving a family unless they pay cash.

I got back on the phone calling and calling but no answer. Finally after calling every location over and over he finally answered and agreed to the refund my deposit and I asked him when I could expect the refund. He replied I don't know. I'm on site doing a move and hung up on me! I called him back no reply. I called several different locations and suddenly no answer. I called the [redacted] location from my partners phone and was greeted by [redacted].

At this point I was so frustrated that I raisied my voice for the first time in years said Are you a legit company!

Have you seen what people think of you guys on your facebook page? I told him I was going to go on every facebook page of every econo van location and post my treatment on their page. He said listen: I said when I get back to the office I will refund you. I replied well you also said you would come and move me at 9am today and did not so your credibility with me is weak. He stated this afternoon I will do it. okay? I said fine and calmed down.

I never did get a time from him of when I can expect the refund, is it because he wasn't going to refund me.

I don't know if I will get my money back but I found another mover and now im sitting waiting and hoping they keep to their word. I thought moving on labor day was going to be horrible but instead I would gladly kiss and welcome any mover on labor.

I made my experience known on facebook but thought I needed to take it to the next step. This is my first time reporting a business to the Revdex.com. I hope you can contact them and find out why they do this to obviouly so many people? It's more than just business it's personal when it involves your own livelyhood, the security of your loved ones. I was in a "transitioning" neighborhood with everything packed and ready to go doors multiple doors wide open.Desired Settlement: I just want them to say hey I'm sorry without attitude. I want my 77 dollar security deposit back for a service that never came to provide a GREATLY needed service.
