Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller Reviews (38)

Review: I sent $74.75 to Edward R. Hamilton Bookseller Company, for an order of 15 books, on March 5,2013. They sent me a refund check for $3.95 for a book that was sold out. Accompanying the refund check was a letter stating that 11 items had been shipped on March 15. I have not received any of the items as of April 20. I wrote to Edward R. Hamilton BooksellerCompany on March 29, about this matter, but I have not received any reply.

Product_Or_Service: 14 books

I would like to receive the books I ordered. If that is not possible, then I would like to receive a refund.

The order in question was shipped to Mr [redacted] in two packages on March 14 and March 15. Both shipments were returned to us on April 18 by the Post Office marked, "unclaimed". A refund (two separate refund checks) were issued to Mr. [redacted] on April 18. Both of these checks should be arriving at his address shortly.

Review: I am incarcerated in [redacted] Correctional Facility in [redacted] . This Company is on our accepted list to order books. through a catalog. The address on it does not match the other 2 in Connecticut but the same Company. The address we order at is [redacted] CT and is a scam I guess. I ordered 41 dollars worth of books a month ago and never received them. I had my family check out this Company and the phone number is disconnected and address no good. The phone number on our catalog is ###-###-####. Same as their home office but different PO Box. I would like my books or my money back. My order was sent with payment on Sept 16 2015. My family has no way to contact them. There are complaints filed with the Revdex.com on this Co. but there are 2 different addresses and it will not accept a complaint with [redacted]. They apparently have a new scam address. I want to file a complaint against them and will notify personnel here to remove the catalog and take them off the accepted list to order from ! Strange thing is another inmate here placed an order after I did and he received his but not me ! How did that happen if the address doesn't exist ?Desired Settlement: I either want my money back or the books I ordered !

This order was shipped via [redacted] Package Services Rate. The [redacted] tracking number for this order is [redacted]. According to this information the shipment was delivered on September 28. We suggest Mr [redacted] contact the mail room at the prison, as this shipment should be there. If the shipment is returned to us, we will issue a refund to him.

Never heard from company. Tried calling phone number but number is disconnected. No way to contact company, never received the calendar. Disputed the charge with VISA. Found that there are multiple complaints on Revdex.com against this company. Why are they allowed to continue to do business with A) a disconnected phone number, B) a PO box address (that, according to Google Maps, does not exist) and C) countless similar complaints??

This company should answer for why it accepted the cash for this product but never A) communicated with its consumer and B) sent the product. Unacceptable.

We shipped this order (1 item, totaling $17.85) to [redacted] on June 4. Delivery is normally within 15 to 20 days, however, there are delays from time to time within the Postal system. As a result, we allow 30 days for a package to be delivered. If not received within this time frame, we reship, no questions asked.

We have no phone. We can be contacted by mail or by email.

Ms. [redacted] has initiated a "chargeback" with the credit card company. We will not dispute the chargeback. She will be refunded the full amount.

I have been ordering books from Edward R. Hamilton for many years and have always been delighted with the books, the prices, the rediculously low shipping charge and their customer service, but on my recent order, they went above and beyond the call of duty. I ordered 19 books, but when I retrieved my order from the post office, it was not in the original, sturdy packing, but a label indicated it had been "repackaged in Denver". 13 of the 19 books were missing, and of the 6 I received, two were badly damaged. Having dealt with them for so long, I knew it was not their problem, and that most likely [redacted] just handled it carelessly. I wrote the company, not expecting to receive anything, but just to let them know that [redacted] might not be their friend. Was I ever surprised when a customer rep promptly replied that they were sending copies of the 13 missing books, plus the 2 damaged ones, at no charge or shipping expense to me! Now is that customer service, or is that customer service! I love the company and their books!

I have been doing business with this company for around 10 years and have always had good results. If a book I ordered is out of stock, I usually get a refund before I get the rest of the books I've ordered.

Review: A book order was placed and paid for but the books were not delivered. A reshipment was promised, but the books have never been received.

My fiance, [redacted] placed an order for two books and paid $23.50 by check to have them shipped to me at my home. The order was received by the bookseller on March 15, 2013, and a confirmation letter was sent to Mr. [redacted] acknowledging the order and refunding an overpayment of $4.00. On May 13, 2013, I contacted the seller, by e-mail through their website, to inquire about the books which I had not yet received. The seller replied to my inquiry by e-mail on May 15, 2013, stating that a replacement shipment had been sent. I contacted the seller again on June 6, 2013, by e-mail, to ask about their shipping process and a tracking service since I still had not received the books. On June 7, 2013, I received an e-mail message from the seller stating that the books had been shipped and that if I hadn't received them by June 15, 2013, to let them know. On June 18, 2013, I once again contacted the seller by e-mail to tell them that the books have not been received and I suggested that they should either send me the books or refund the order price to my fiance. I have not heard from the seller since that date and my fiance has not received any explanation or refund of the money he paid.Desired Settlement: I would still like to receive the books that were ordered by my fiance. Failing that, I would like the company to refund the price paid to him. I am undertaking this investigation myself because my fiance is incarcerated and has no access to the Internet by which these matters may be expedited.

This order has been shipped to [redacted] on two separate dates. Both shipments were mailed to the correct mailing address and apparently neither shipment has been received. In addition, neither of these shipments have been returned to us.

To put a close to this matter, we are issuing a full refund ($19.40) to [redacted]

I called Mr [redacted] at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX to inquire about the books, but the phone just rings off the hook, no one answers. This order was shipped to [redacted] Ann [redacted] on March 11. It appears her first contact with the Revdex.com was on March 15, only four days after we shipped this order. If this shipment has not arrived by today's date (April 15), she [redacted] let us know and we will either reship or issue a full refund.

The phone number she used is not a valid number nor was the customer service email address. She [redacted] contact us at the following email address: [redacted]@ehbmail.com.

Review: I have ordered 6 books on the web site [redacted] for my father and it has been almost 2 months and they have not delivered them yet this is the order date and time of the purchase and also the order number Order Number: [redacted]

Response:

We received this order on October 15. The address provided was for a Federal Prison in [redacted]. The Federal Bureau of Prisons restricts all book shipments to five total items. The order we received was for six items. We sent an email to [redacted] at [redacted] regarding this matter. Our email explained the rule and offered an options. The option offered was for Mr [redacted] to select one title to be removed so the order total would be reduced to five items. We never received a reply from him regarding this matter. As a result, we had no choice but to cancel the order. His credit card was never charged for this order.

The phone number is wrong. It says this is not a working number. Edward R Hamilton, Bookseller /Please call me @ [redacted]. Some people would like to hear that they are being heard, more personable. If I have problem would like to hear someone's voice. Phone # is wrong you need to change it please.

Review: Over a week ago I ordered 5 books from Edward R Hamilton Booksellers. I sent them a money order for the cost of the books plus shipping and handling charges. They advertise that delivery is usually within 48 hours. Now almost two weeks later I still have not received my books. On top of that when I click on the "Contact Us" button on their website, a complaint form pops up. I have filled out two of those still have not heard anything, nor received my books. Of course like a lot of companies, there is no phone number or way to reach them. No phone number on the internet, no nothing. I am beyond frustrated right now.Desired Settlement: I would like my books delivered ideally. But if they cannot be delivered I would like a full refund, including shipping/handling costs.

Business

Response:

We sent multiple email replies to [redacted] regarding the order. We advised the order was shipped March 14 and that delivery was normally within 15 to 20 days. The 48 hours he referred to is processing time, not delivery time. Orders are normally processed and shipped out within 48 hours, not delivered.

We finally received a reply on March 20, informing us he had now received our emails regarding his order and asked us to disregard previous emails. It appears this matter has been settled and he has received the information he was looking for.

I have been ordering from this Company regularly over the past year and have never had any problems. My books arrive in a timely manner, packaged very well and always get a refund check soon after I am notified that a book I ordered was not available. I look forward to getting the catalogs. My husband also enjoys the books he receives. Books are priced very low and shipping is the best bargain of all! I love Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller - I hope they never go out of business.

I have been a customer of Edward R. Hamilton for many, 20+, years. To be a customer of any seller for that long tells you something. I am an avid reader and found in ER Hamilton a reliable source of good reading material. I may not always find a specific book I am interested in but have never been disappointed in either the selection, quality or pricing of the books I have bought. My personal opinion is that ER Hamilton is an excellent source of good reading and can honestly state that I can always find something that will interest me. If it were not for my financial limitations, I would be a better customer.

We have no record of receiving the order Mr. [redacted] has described. If his payment has been cashed, we will need a copy of the canceled check (front and back) to search our records further. Upon receipt of this information we will issue a full refund.

This order was shipped to James [redacted] on January 10. We assume if the package did not arrive at Mr. [redacted]'s address that it was lost in route to him, as it has not been returned to us. Unfortunately, we have no record of receiving any correspondence. We do apologize if a message he sent was mishandled due to an error on our end. We are issuing a full refund ($70.95) to Mr [redacted]. The check will be mailed within 5 days.
