Engine World USA Reviews (34)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
Regards,
How can it be an installation problem if the problem is internal? we didn't separate the heads from block Engine World did that at the time of re-building. We only installed the accessories such as the water pump, thermostat, ac compressor. The engine is not new not only is it spray painted but we have a diagnostic from [redacted] to confirm that. We are asking for Mr. [redacted] to stop giving us the run around and warranty the engine with a full refund plus the diagnostic fee they made us get to confirm what the issue is with the engine.

Dear Sir / Madam, The main reason why we sell Remanufactued engines for [redacted] 2.4 is because these engines have an inherent problem with cylinder head bolts that strip. This is mentioned in the first paragraph of the email we sent to them. The reason why these engines fail is because...

head bolts on these engines are thin. We do reverse-engineering by making each hole big and put bigger and thicker head bolts. Length doesn't matter, what matters is the thickness. Head gasket leaks if radiator hoses bust, radiator is not good, heater core is not flushed and if according to our warranty water pump, theromostat, front / rear main seals are not installed brand new. So this determination on customer's side is not true. Engine was built from scratch with all brand new components. We use used engine cores to machine, hone and resurface the block, resurface the head then add new components like pistons, piston rings, main / rod bearings to build the engine. We are members of [redacted] and been in business 12 years selling 2000 engines each year. If you have proof of purchase from auto parts store for radiator hoses, new water pump, oil pump, thermostat we can look into it further. We may need to have you ship the engine to us so we can inspect it. If you replaced these parts brand new and have receipts for it, we can gladly fix it and send it to you. We will do whatever is in our warranty to address your problem. Thanks, Engine World Inc

Valve bridges & rocker arms can be transferred from old engine. We did not receive cam caps until late last evening. We can provide [redacted] tracking proof. Our engine is shipped as a long block.

Customer's claim is false because engine was delivered to the customer. There was a delay because we had to build the engine from scratch. Engine was delivered and customer signed the shipping delivery receipt. Please accept my response for this case.ENGINE WORLD Inc, Houston,...

We have been in business for over 11 years. Engine we sold to the customer was a brand new engine. We were talking to his mechanic on regular basis from the inception of the problem but without our knowledge and without notifying or getting prior authorization from us they went ahead and altered the...

engine by dismantling the cylinder heads and took the job in their own hands. Our warranty does not allow anyone to alter or dismantle the engine and do repairs without our authorization. This is a diesel engine, once dismantled it is impossible to find out cause of problem. We are unable to help him because engine is in pieces and since they did the repairs themselves without our authorization we are unable to do anything. We can help him with another engine at a discounted price. Please understand that engine is a mechanical item and comes with an instruction manual. Customer admitted in his own complaint that they went ahead did repairs on the head. He machined the heads without knowing that [redacted] engines can't be machined. Machining the cylinder head after dismantling is what caused his engine to blow up. Therefore engine failed because of customer's negligence. Thanks & Regards, Mike *

How can we help when you damage the engine by doing what the manufacturer and us don't allow you to do. For example if you buy a brand new car and instead of gasoline you put diesel in it and ruin the engine how can the dealer help you ? You broke the engine in pieces by grinding valves etc. Our warranty does not allow customers doing work on our engine without our authorization. It''s like asking us to cover for damage to the engine because of your own beliefs. That is why there is a warranty to guide the purchase and the customer must follow it. ENGINE IS A MECHANICAL ITEM AND COMES WITH AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL SO IF YOU USE THE ENGINE DIFFERENTLY OR DO WHAT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO IT WILL OBVIOUSLY BLOW UP LIKE YOURS DID ?  You were not supposed to take it to the machine shop and let them do the work without our authorization because machine shop is not the manufacturer nor vendor who sold the engine to you. WE can offer another brand new engine for a cheaper price to give you consideration but blowing an engine because of shaving and grinding the head at a machine shop is a recipe for disaster.  Hope you understand that. Since this is a mechanical item there are limitations. If it was a pair of jeans we would replace it but you are yourself responsible for failure of this engine because you took it elsewhere to get it fixed and instead ruined the engine because you did what you believe was right. BOTTOMLINE YOU CAN'T MACHINE [redacted] CYLINDER HEAD !

Sent: Friday, October 14, 2016 9:18 AM Subject: [redacted] In regards to this complaint we need to inspect the engine to resolve the issue. Since engine doesn't work on its own. Proper installation and maintenance plays an important role. We need the customer to send the engine back to us so we can review and inspect and possible fix the issue if was not caused due to misuse or poor installation procedure. Please rely this message to the customer.

Customer's claim is not true. We asked him to bring his engine so we could repair his engine. Our engines are sold with exchange or repair policy. We are waiting for customer to agree to fixing the problem. We don't find anything wrong with the engine but we are willing to disassemble it again and...

build it again and work with him.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.
This is the first word I have received indicating the core was not usable. Over about four months, Mr [redacted] and other company officials would promise to call but not once did they keep their. I can accept the fact that the engine was not usable. If I had been told this before, things would be different. I just cannot accept that the way I have been ignored in this issue is good business practice. I am pleased with the engine I purchased; I am not pleased that it took over four months and a complaint to BB B before getting an answer.  *. [redacted]

Whenever we sell a Brand new engine we charge $1000 core charge which serves as a collateral so customers can send their old engine back. This core charge is only refunded if the core / old engine is re-buildable. The core that customer sent was not re-buildable as the block was severely warped....

Customer agreed to these terms on the purchase invoice by signing the invoice. Our warranty terms on the invoice explicitly stated the care amount will only be refunded if the old engine is re-buildable. Sincerely, Mike [redacted]

Sent: Tuesday, April 11, 2017 4:06 PMSubject: Case # [redacted]  Customer picked up a replacement engine from our Houston location. We have all paperwork to prove that replacement engine was accepted by the customer. Please consider this as a valid response. Regards, Mike [redacted]

Dear Sir / Madam, We sell over 2000 rebuilt engines in a year. Customer did not inform the Vin # number of the vehicle upon purchase. Also vehicles that have EGR are California emission engines. While filling the credit card form customer mentioned she had Federal emissions...

engine.  We shipped what we were supposed to. We offered her mechanic that we will send drill bit and tools so they don't have to hunt for them in order to assist them to drill the hole. We are also willing to pick up the engine to have the job done. Our manager called the customer day before yesterday but she did not call back. Best Regards, M. [redacted]

He is lying he never talk with me over the phone about fixing the engine I left numerous message whit [redacted] and he never call me back I toll [redacted] the I want to fix that engine I still for a response of him .

I thoroughly spoke with the Mechanic and [redacted] at [redacted]. I have several recorded conversations of us dialoging the situation. They have reported the engine ONLY smokes for roughly a minute upon starting. Mechanically speaking this happens when you have Non Performing external...

components on the engine...such as Turbo, Injection Pump or Injectors. All external components were attached and installed by the mechanic. Engine World sold them a BRAND NEW Long-Block which is the Block and Head ONLY, All of the external parts were placed on the long-block by the mechanic. If the Long-block was defected it would knock and not run properly the entire time it's cranked. Since it only smokes for a shortly period of time and runs silently this tells me everything internal is running smoothly.  I have attached a sample Picture of the engine that was purchased...The customer is required to purchase New tune-up components to obey our warranty. If these instructions are not followed the customers warranty is Void. The rules are in place for mechanical reasons.
