Estate Sales Unlimited Reviews (33)

Review: To settle the estate of my father, we hired Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC to liquidate the contents of my fathers estate. A contract was written in which the sale would be held and proceeds, minus a commission would be paid to the estate within 45 days. This has never occurred and the estate sale was in January, 2013, this being December 2013.Desired Settlement: Settlement in the amount of 10,000.00 dollars be made to the estate listed in the contract.

Response:

Client has been informed that settlement will be sent and was told check mailed some time ago had not cleared bank. Check apparently lost in mail.

Regards,

Hello,

Review: My husband and I separated last July 2012. We sold our home and wished to sell of some of our possessions before moving. I didn't want to have a yard sale and so contacted Estate Sales Unlimited. I had seen the estate sales around in my neighborhood. [redacted] was pleasant on the phone and said she could take the items we had- we just needed to pack them up. Her colleague would pick up the items and they would be added to a sale that was taking place at Lake Monticello that second week of August. I was out of town, but my ex-husband met her colleague and helped him in loading the items into their van. [redacted] said the payment for our items would come approx 3-4 weeks after the sale. She said the contract did allows for 60 days from the close of the sale. Besides several large items that were given to Estate Sales Unlimited (TV Armoire, TV, pine chest, firescreen, bench table, mirror, coat rack, etc) there were boxes of small items including tools, glassware. As of December 2013. I had yet to receive a check from Estate Sales Unlimited. I contacted [redacted] numerous times and finally received a check on March 4, 2013 for $282.50. That amount was said to cover the large items that were sold. The listing of the items sold was not complete- there was no mention of many of the items (tools, ladder, tool chests, glassware, coat rack, cat tree, etc) we gave to Estate Sales Unlimited. I sent that list of items via certified mail to EsTate Sales Unlimited on March 13 and after again following up, heard from [redacted] on July 17, 2013 that she was finalizing the tally on our sale items. I am still waiting.Desired Settlement: I would like payment for the remainder of our items. I appreciate that business owners can have personal issues and Beverly and her colleague seem to have had everything imaginable happen to them. But after this experience, I would never recommend this business to anyone and I feel that it was a total misrepresentation of the service. If I was going to give my property to an organization to make money and receive nothing myself, I would have given the items to the [redacted]. It almost seems like we were robbed. I had nice things and someone else profited from them.

Response:

After speaking with [redacted] on 9/26/13 she stated she would email the customer to offer a settlement of $[redacted].

Review: My mother, [redacted], who has early onset Alzheimer's, signed a contract with [redacted], the founder of Estate Sales Unlimited on 5/2/14.

The contract states that [redacted] would conduct an Estate Sale of my mother's possessions and then present the following to us within sixty (60) days of the resolution of the sale:

- An inventory of what was sold

- A check for 60% of the proceeds

Additionally, [redacted] found a valuable ring in the home when she was conducting the sale, that she has promised to send to us. My mother now lives in California in an assisted living facility.

The sale was held in the end of May. [redacted] continues to refuse to send the inventory, check, and ring.

Thanks, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] to deliver what was promised to us:

- An inventory of what was sold and how much each item was priced at

- A check for 60% of the proceeds

- My mother's ring

Business

Response:

Client has been paid. Accounting resolved. Delay due to outside vendor finishing changes to property and our final clean-up.

I have been paid, but I have still not received a valuable ring in the mail that I have been requesting for months, and has been promised to me, in writing, by the vendor.

Business

Response:

The client has been notified that the item referred to was in the safe and removed for packaging. It has apparently been misplaced, but when found will be sent to client immediately.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

The business has made it clear that the ring is lost. This ring is worth $2,000. I have in writing that it would be sent to me. If it is not, I expect a check for $2,000. This is completely unacceptable and a disgusting way to manage a business.

Regards,

Review: Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC ([redacted]) conducted an estate sale at my deceased mother's home in Charlottesville, VA on August 4-6, 2012. Our contract provides that the company would provide an accounting from the sale within 60 days of the sale or when all items are finally sold. According to [redacted], all items from the sale were sold in Jan. 2013. Despite numerous requests for an accounting of the sale and any proceeds owed, [redacted] has given one personal excuse after another as reasons for her failure to comply with our contract. Now [redacted] does not even respond to any communications from us. She has improperly retained the proceeds from the sale for ten months and perhaps converted the monies to her own use. If [redacted] does not comply with our contract by providing a full accounting of the estate sale and remitting to me (executor of my mother's estate) all proceeds owed per the contract as a result of the Revdex.com's investigation, I intend to sue her. Revdex.com should be aware that the address for Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC, has changed and is now [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want a full accounting from the sale, describing all items sold and the sales price for each item, and a check for the proceeds owed per the terms of my contract with Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC.

Consumer

Response:

This complaint has been resolved. I have received an accounting and payment from Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC so the complaint may now be closed. Thank you.

Review: We were fooled by the saccharine nature of the woman who runs Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC: [redacted]. My family hired [redacted] with Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC to liquidate the personal property of my late sister's estate. We did not accept her original contract, because it was vague and unfair in her favor, but made edits to it. She and we agreed in the final contract that she would have sixty days from the date of the estate sale to give us a check for the sale proceeds, along with an inventory of the sold items. She was to take any items that did not sell the weekend of the estate sale and dispose of them by one of four methods. A second check or the receipt for donation was to be sent to us at that time.

She held the sale then locked the house keys in the house and couldn't get them for us when requested.

Well, it is now well past sixty days, and it appears that she is either completely incompetent or running a fraud--or both. Every time we contact her we hear nothing but a stream of excuses as to why she is not able to comply with her responsibilities under the contract--none of which excuse or explain her delay. If one were to believe her, she is beset by more personal tragedies than Job, but here is the part that makes us realize she isn't being honest: she keeps having more sales. In other words, she is fine and dandy when it comes to taking people's property and getting money for it, but when it's time to pay those sale proceeds to the heirs, all of a sudden she is too sick, too busy, too besieged by computer problems or employee issues to do the job.

[redacted] needs to realize that conducting the sale itself is a small part of what it takes to comply with her duties as an estate liquidator.

If one reads all the negative reviews and complaints against [redacted], it appears that this is her regular M.O. She has fooled locals into believing her services are good--however, they just see the sale portion and don't know about her keeping the consignors' money.Desired Settlement: 1. We want an inventory of items sold at the estate sale, with detailed explanation of how much each item sold for.

2. We want a check for the sale proceeds from those items, less the shared advertising costs, as agreed to in the contract.

3. We want an inventory of items that did not sell at the estate sale, along with their current status: at a consignment shop, sold at another sale, donated to charity, or auctioned elsewhere. We will decide how to dispose of any remaining unsold items.

4. We want either a check for the secondary items or the receipt for their donation to charity.

Business

Response:

This comment is unfounded,f alse and unnecessarily sarcastic and judgmental. Resolution has been delayed by winter weather and other valid factors. The client is being paid in spite of the fact that this was a very small sale that has resulted in the client owing my company. My company, out of courtesy to the client's mother, is waiving the amount the client owes and is, instead, sending a check to her in the amount owed to my company. The only valid part of this complaint is the delay in payment due to circumstances beyond the control of the company owner. Furthermore, the client was apprised of those circumstances and chose to disregard them.

Consumer

Response:

Attached are three files. One contains a record of email correspondence with [redacted]. Another contains her "inventory" of the hundreds of items left for her to sell. The third is something we received from her--I believe it's supposed to be an accounting? Please refer to the original complaint and our follow up comment for more details.

Review: I signed a contract with Ms. [redacted] of Estate Sales Unlimited to sell the contents of my mothers house. The contract stated that I would receive a full accounting and receive payment 30 days after the sale. The sale was held the weekend of November 21, 2014. Today is March 16, 2015 and I have received no payment or accounting but only excuses like my bookkeeper quit, my computer got a virus, and I have had the flu.Desired Settlement: Payment in full and a complete accounting of what happened to all of the assets in the house.

Business

Response:

The client had been apprised of the valid reasons for delay in resolving his account. All data from hundreds of files had been lost from a virus -infected company computer. Delays have occurred due to the amount of data that is still being re-entered. The client's account will be ready as soon as possible. He has my apologies for the delay and appreciation for his patience to this point.

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The problem could have been easily resolved if she had hired an accountant to process the information. She is in violation of the contract and the money and information is 90 days past due. The only acceptable resolution will be receiving what she owes me and a full accounting of what happened to all of my merchandise. I have since talked to other people who have used her and they have encountered similar excuses for not receiving payment.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Regards,

We peruse almost all of [redacted] sales. Her prices are fair. Her staff is top notch in every way. We look forward to our interactions with [redacted] and her staff. Great finds most every sale.

Review: Due to the death of my husband in [redacted]. And a 2 month hospital stay from [redacted] I could no longer stay in my home. Contracted with this company to do an estate sale. The sale was the first weekend in November. 2014. Settlement was to be accomplished within 60 days with a full accounting of sales and proceeds. As of today April 1,2015 we have received neither. Beverley has given every excuse fom illness to computer breakdown. She now refuses to answer phone calls and attempted emails. We have since learned this is standard operating procedure for her. We believe she is consciously taking advantage of seniors and their families that are in a distressed situation. Something needs to be done to stop this from happening to othersDesired Settlement: Would be satisfied with $3000.00 from her. Feel the amount should be more but at least this would give me some satisfaction, and some justice

At this time, I have not been contacted by Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Regards,

Review: [redacted] seems to be quite compassionate in helping families dealing with dissolving households due to age or death, but has a long pattern of slow response, slow pay, etc. Furthermore, we believe she or her staff have engaged in unreasonable markdowns of merchandise, perhaps to obtain items for themselves or others at ridiculous prices. The sale involving my father-in-law's household items was March 15-17 and we have yet to receive even the inventory of the items sold, much less any proceeds. Her contract calls for 60 days to settle accounts, but it appears from numerous reviews and Revdex.com descriptions as well, that this is a longstanding pattern.Desired Settlement: Because of her well-established pattern of profiting off the distress of others, she should be called out for the con artist that she is and her business shut down.

Regards,

Review: On July 8 2015 Beverly S[redacted] took many items from my home to sell in her upcoming estate sales. We agreed to 70/30% split. The 70% going to me. She volunteered to carry my items from my house to her location free.

On July 30 she told me all of my things had sold and she would mail me a check early the following week. She never sent it.

After several unanswered messages, she finally responded on Sept 17 and said she would mail my check the next day. Never did.

After several attempts to contact her she finally emailed me on Thurs Oct 1. This time she said she'd have the final sales totals by Tues, and send my money then. (Note: I had already been told the check were on the way. Final sales totals would have been done already, right?). Once again, no check was ever sent.

On Oct 13 she sent me an email claiming she needed my mailing address (which had been provided more than once) and would send my money ASAP.

I am tired of the false promises. Tired of being jerked around.

On her website it says the consigners proceeds statement and inventory will be mailed within 45-60 days of the close of the sale; sooner if possible. I have been waiting 79 days.

I don't want any more excuses or promises. I am elderly and disabled and ill. Perhaps that's why I'm being taken advantage of. I just want what she owes me and a statement saying how much each item of mine sold for.Desired Settlement: The above resolution choice "refund" isn't entirely accurate. But it's the closest choice.

I want Beverly S[redacted] to send me a check for 70% of the selling prices of everything I consigned to her. I also want an inventory statement showing what everything. Sold for.

At this time, ( last week) I received an email from her saying she was sending a check. I still have not received it. Since She has promised me several times since June 30 that the "check is in the mail". I don't have any faith in her. She has lost all credibility with me. I don't know how she is able to get away with doing this. Estate Sales Unlimited, LLC regarding complaint ID [redacted].

What further options are open to me?

Regards,

Review: Estate Sales Unlimited held an estate sale 7/13-7/15/2013, and we have yet to receive any payment or written documentation/inventory listing of the sale. We have made repeated contact with [redacted], and been told the sales slips cannot be found, so she cannot give us a final inventory record nor determine the amount the we are owed. We have been told repeatedly that this will get resolved, once told that the records were found and the check would be in the mail the next day. That never happened. Upon follow up, we were then told that they actually had not been found and that she was still looking for the records. We are now getting no response from [redacted] at all.Desired Settlement: We would like the final inventory listing of the sale and the complete payment that is owed. Without a satisfactory resolution, we are prepared to take legal action.

Business

Response:

This has been resolved. This is the first time that records from an estate sale have disappeared. The clients have been notified of progress in searching for the records when, yes, I thought I had found them, but they were for another sale. After searching again through every record in my office, I found the missing sales tickets. My assistant is preparing the settlement. I have informed the client that the finished statement and inventory will be mailed Tuesday, November 26, 2013. They have my apologies for my not having found the missing items earlier. In my more than 16 years in business, records have never seemingly disappeared.

Sincerely,

Review: Estate Sales Unlimited has failed to pay their client [redacted] her monetary proceeds from the sale. Beverly has been contacted by relatives of Mrs. [redacted] who live in the area, and they were told, "The check's in the mail." The check has NEVER been in the mail YET, because this complaint is being filed at the current address of Mrs. [redacted]. Thank You!Desired Settlement: [redacted] is to receive a certified check for the monetary value of her possessions from the estate sale at [redacted]

Review: [redacted] and her crew did a great job with sale and clean up at end of sale. However I never received an inventory of the articles sold, as was promised, and I have never received a check for what was owed my family from the sale. I don't know what we were owed, because I never got an inventory. I called [redacted] in the late spring or early summer and she said she was going to send check and inventory, but I never received these. I have called and emailed her several times recently but now she is not answering me at all.Desired Settlement: delivery of the inventory of items sold and a check for any money owed to my family

The customer is right. Her account is ready now. Two surgeries and respective recovery times have delayed finalizing this very kind customer's account. The account is ready to mail this week.
