Ethical Electric, Inc. Reviews (21)

Review: In April, I was sent a letter from what I believed was [redacted] describing the benefits of switching to alternative energy as the main source of electricity for my home. The letter detailed how making the switch would be a good move for the environment and for my personal finances, promising that at no time would my bill be 5-10% more that what I am currently paying. The letter said that many times, their customers actually save money. So I switched. I had noticed that my bill was going up since April, but I attributed it to the warming weather and the increasing use of air conditioning in my household. When I got my [redacted] bill this month however, I found that was significantly higher than previous months, almost double what I have been paying. I called [redacted] to find out what was happening and they said that Ethical Energy is their competitor and that they use [redacted] letterheads to convince people to switch to their services without explaining that they are competing with [redacted] and poaching customers by duping them. The representative told me this company actually charge much more than [redacted]. [redacted] charges 8.5 cents per kilowatt. When I asked Ethical Electric what they charge per kilowatt, I was informed that they are charging me .13999 cents per kilowatt, which is nearly double what [redacted] charges. The representative I spoke with said in the beginning the bill was only 5-10% higher but that the company is allowed to raise rates as they see fit. This is not at all what the company advertised when they talked about a switch and I genuinely feel they are tricking people into switching with misleading statements. Fortunately, I was able to catch this abuse before it got too serious and switch back to [redacted], but others who have been tricked might not know better.Desired Settlement: The [redacted] representative I spoke with this afternoon told me that I was the second person today she had spoken with who found out they had been tricked by this company into thinking they were making the right decision for the environment and their wallet by switching their primary energy source. I want Ethical Electric, Inc to stop sending out these misleading letters to vulnerable customers and to send a letter to the ones that switched informing them of the real cost of switching.

Upon receipt of [redacted]'s complaint with the Revdex.com, a supervisor with Ethical Electric researched her account. Our records indicate the customer was billed according to the agreement made upon enrollment. On August 20, 2014 a supervisor reached out to the customer to discuss her account and answer any questions [redacted] might have. The supervisor confirmed that [redacted]'s account with Ethical Electric has been canceled and apologized for the unsatisfactory experience she had.

Review: I switched to Ethical Electric as my electricity provider in 2013 and was pleased with their prices and services for a few months. They advertised a variable rate, which I understood could fluctuate depending on the cost of electricity that billing cycle. I was willing to pay just a little more for clean energy. My bill for the period between February and March was billed at over $0.20 per kWh without any warning, resulting in Ethical Electric charges over $400. I have spoken to their customer service reps over the phone several times and was assured that this was not a billing error. I am complaining because the fact that your bill could more than triple in one month should be made clear when you are signing up. Ethical Electric has promised me a fixed rate for the next three months but has refused to re-rate the bill in question to make it a more manageable amount. I am now facing a shut off notice from my utility company, [redacted] electric here in [redacted], PA. If I was naive in thinking that a variable rate was regulated in some way I have learned my lesson, but for those customers who will come after me, Ethical Electric should be forced to be up front about the range of rates that you may be charged.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate a billing adjustment because I have no idea how I can pay a bill that is over $400 for one month of electricity in my small one bedroom home. After being transferred several times to different supervisors at Ethical Electric, I doubt this can be done. At the very least, I'd like them to have to be honest with customers at sign up. Young people who want a clean energy source should know how much they will be expected to pay for it.

Subject: Complaint ID#10046995 resolution.

To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>

Hello! I am happily writing to tell you that I received a call from a supervisor from Ethical Electric named [redacted] this morning. She informed me that they will issue a check in the amount of $251.34 and it should arrive in the next 7 - 10 days. I've been able to reach an agreement with my utility company and have avoided a power shut-off. I want to thank anyone involved for helping me resolve this. I felt helpless and ignored. If there is a review or something similar that I can fill out please let me know! I want everyone to know how quickly this turned around.

Review: I am [redacted] MD customer-I switched to Ethical Electric because they use an alternate form of energy-my bill from both [redacted] and Ethical Electric due Oct. 21, 2014 was $177.86-my latest bill is $380.94. I called [redacted]-they told me to call Ethical Electric who told me their price per kilowatt hour had gone up-I feel that this is price gouging and was not aware when I switched to Ethical Electric that their rates could vary so substantially nor was this explained to me-I have cancelled Ethical Electric but do not feel that I should pay their current bill-also Ethical Electric indicated that it could take 2-3 months for the cancellation to take effect-I am retired and on a fixed income and cannot afford their exhorbitantly high ratesDesired Settlement: reduce the amount of the current and future bills-I feel that this is price gouging-they are able to do this because they are not regulated by the Public Service Commission as is [redacted]

[redacted] contacted the Revdex.com regarding a bill she received from Ethical Electric. Upon receipt of her complaint with the Revdex.com a supervisor reviewed the customer's account. It has been determined that [redacted] agreed to an introductory fixed rate for three billing cycles with a variable rate thereafter and has been billed accordingly. As a sign of good faith, Ethical Electric will issue the customer a good will credit for her account. A supervisor with Ethical Electric spoke with [redacted] on November 12, 2014 and notified her of the credit. Additionally, we have adjusted the customer's rate for her remaining time on service with Ethical Electric to match the current rate of her Utility. We believe the customer is satisfied with this resolution.

Review: Hello, my wife and I signed with this Electric provider for the reason they said we could save money each month on our Electric Bill. They charged a $ .08754 cents per KWH which was a variable rate and they ended up charging us $ .20790 cents per KWH. Which in return made our Electric Bill $400.00 to $600.00 dollars a month higher then it should have been. We talked to [redacted] and they told us that [redacted] offers $.0874 fixed rate, so of course we canceled Ethical Electric billing and are going just with [redacted].Desired Settlement: A refund of extra amount charged to us made payable to [redacted] on our Electric Bill Account

**. [redacted] contacted

the Revdex.com as he was concerned with a change in his most recent

bill. Upon receipt of **. [redacted]’s complaint, a supervisor researched **.

[redacted]’s account to ensure he was charged the correct rate. At the time of

enrollment, [redacted]. [redacted] agreed to a month to month variable rate with Ethical

Electric. It has been determined that the [redacted]s have been billed correctly

as per their agreement with Ethical Electric. However, as a sign of good faith,

we will provide the [redacted]s a refund. On May 5, 2014 a representative with

Ethical Electric called and spoke with [redacted]. [redacted] to notify her of the

refund. We feel the [redacted]s are satisfied with the resolution.

Review: I am a [redacted] electric customer. I had a 3rd party distributor [redacted] since May 3rd 2013. October 3rd was [redacted]'s last time on my bill. Somehow this company called Ethical Electric added the**elves as my distributor and removed my previous company [redacted]. I did not notice this change until I received a [redacted] bill for $1194.63 for the month of January. It turns out Ethical Electric charged $.189 per KWH. Compared to [redacted] at .097 or the Previous [redacted] .10 this is triple.

I spoke to [redacted] who put a hold on the payment due as I am unaware of who Ethical Electic is. Last month I called [redacted] and asked who they were.. we removed them but they stayed on an extra billing cycle. I also called [redacted] who said they have nothing to do with Ethical Electric but have had some calls from other customers alleging the same problem. " other customers have reported that Ethical Electric removed us from other customers without their authorization in the last 2 months " said a [redacted] worker I spoke with the morning of 2/18/14.

I contacted Ethical Electric and they said they had a voice recording of me verifying and approving the switch. They would not provide said recording (because it doesn't exist). They said it was made on September 6th 2013 at 1:30 in the afternoon on my home telephone number. I was at work when this so called verification was made. They said they will not reimburse me as I approved this switch.

The difference in the last 2 bill cycles was $537.33. I want to be reimbursed for this since this company committed FRAUD. There is no way they have any confirmation from me as I am the only woman in the house. I am the only one listed on the account. I never authorized this scamming company to be apart of my electric bill. I have my work documents that I was in the office on September 6th. I will be contacting the news to alert them of this horrible NON ETHICAL company.Desired Settlement: $537.33 Check to reimburse me for fraudulent activity as their service was never desired and unethically above the [redacted] rate. I would also like them to be punished for committing fraud, lying to consumers and conducting bad business practices.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: as I did only want the difference in what Ethical Electric owed me they fraudulently obtained my supposed Voice verification. I am attaching 2 recording. 1 that is from [redacted] the company I had signed up with to be my distributor. I never did the verification process with Ethical Electric. They some how got a hold of my verification from [redacted] and edited it to their process. Please listen to how my name and address is said... there is an "umm" before I say my name. I want nothing else from this company but it should be known that they are frauds.

Review: Was contacted by company about switching to clean energy for the same price as what currently pay for my electric. The first bill I was billed from them, the rate was the same as my previous electric company, .06 per KWH, however on my second bill they doubled the amount charged, .134 per KWH, with less amount of energy used. When I called them to find out what was going on they stated that they had given me a one month special rate and that the following rates would be varied at the going rate. I have never paid more than .08 per KWH with my current company. I was charged $145.xx for 1384 KWH on my first bill and $202.xx for my second bill using 1204 KWH. This doesn't make sense to me and I wasn't told that the rate was going to sky rocket at after a month or at any time. I canceled their service however it will take 30 to 60 days to complete that - so one or two more bills where I am being charged an outrageous rate that I didn't agree to.Desired Settlement: I want them to disclose that they have a variable rate to customers, actually giving examples of the difference that will appear on the customers bills - give actual rates - and adjust my bill to the rate that I was promised, the same as the rate of the previous company, .06 per KWH.

Ms. [redacted] contacted the Revdex.com regarding her account with Ethical Electric. Upon receipt of her complaint with the Revdex.com a supervisor reviewed the customer's account. At the time of enrollment, Ms. [redacted] agreed to a one month introductory rate of 6.3 cents per kWh with a month to month variable rate thereafter. It has been determined that a billing error occurred on the customer's first bill. As such, we are issuing the customer a refund. The customer's second bill was issued at a variable rate in accordance with her agreement. As a gesture of good faith, Ethical Electric will issue the customer an additional goodwill credit for any inconvenience we may have caused. A supervisor with Ethical Electric spoke with the Ms. [redacted] on February 3, 2015 and informed her of the credit. We believe the customer is satisfied with this resolution.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that it is slightly incorrect. I was contacted by Ethical Electric and offered an amount that I originally requested along with an additional smaller amount due to an error per their math, their words not mine as well as charging me the original rate agreed upon for my final bill. I find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: Ethical Electric charged us much higher rates after the initial 3 months without disclosure. We did not know this would happen. When we signed up, we thought it was a part of PPL that produced wind energy, not a separate entitiy. The rates were to be about 10% higher than the "dirty" electricity. Starting in January, They charged us more than double PPL's rates.Desired Settlement: We were overcharged approx. $1189.00 which we would like refunded.

Review: A representative from Ethical Electric contacted me at my home and told me that I could save money by switching the supplier for our electric company. I was told that we would pay less, and that our current supplier was charging more than Ethical Electric would when I went over my current bill with the representative on the phone. As of resent my bills have been astronomical. I decided to look more closely at our bill, and we are being charged almost twice what our original supplier ([redacted]) has charged. During my original phone call with the representative, which was being recorded, I was told we would be paying half the ammount per kWh that we were currently being charged. When I just contacted the Customer Service department at Ethical Electric, she told me our rate when I agreed to the agreement was EQUAL to that of [redacted], another LIE! Why would I change to not save any money? and with no knowledge or alert on their behalf our rate is now almost double what it was! I have done some research and have found that I am NOT the only customer being taken advantage of and misled. It has been lies from the beginning and I would like my money back and move on from this terrible "ethical" company.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed by ethical electric. I was mislead by the representative that I spoke with on the phone that we would be charged less and we would save money. A lie!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory, however I feel they should be doing a better job at making sure the what is stated in the phone call is exactly what is in the agreement. I would never have agreed to pay more money per month for my electric bill.

Regards,

Review: Ethical Electric quotes 10.8 cents per kilowatt hour today for new accounts. My bill charges 18.9 cents per kilowatt hour. This is almost double. Their scam is to lure customers in with low prices and raise price ridiculously high after 3 months (which they can do under disguise of adjusting price according to "varying national energy price") with hopes that customers will not notice until they have made high profits. Their rate increases are several hundred percent higher than national averages which they misrepresent as being the basis of increases.

This is a complete scam.Desired Settlement: Exposure of Ethical Electric as a business which uses quote under-disclosure to take money from unsuspecting buyers. Return of all funds acquired in this manner. Requirement to acquire approval of specific rate increase from customers before charging unsuspecting customers extremely high, non competitive rates.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I agreed to a "variable rate" dependent on current electrical price variations. The increase was several hundred times the national average increase. This constitutes a fraud which is not acceptable and is perpetrated constantly on unsuspecting public electric buyers. I have received their last bill which now charges over 20 cents per kilowatt hour! That's another 40 - 50 dollars that they have swindled from me. Their activities can not be overlooked by the Revdex.com. Not even if they pay back one aware customer. They have probably collected millions of dollars in misrepresented billing. I will see this exposure through and expose them and the Revdex.com if they do not act to correct the issue completely for all customers.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Ethical Electric continues to misrepresent and over-charge unsuspecting clients after 3 months. I believe that if they disclose their regular rates which they will charge after 3 months, or if they notify clients that their rates are increasing by 80+ percent, they will not get any business. I believe that they know that fact and do not disclose in order to fool clients into highly inflated rates. Thousands are victims and Ethical Electric is making millions off of the scam.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

An appeal was made to me for a phone conversation. Instead of private communication with me, I think the company needs to address issues with all it's customers publicly. Ethical Electric has refunded to me two months of excess billing because of my complaint to the Revdex.com. I think that very few who pay Ethical Electric over 19 - 20 cents per kilowatt hour, roughly double BG&E rate for electrical service, are aware of how much more they're paying. The Ethical Electric website states: "Is clean energy more expensive? The short answer is not really." This is how Ethical Electric informs customers of the cost of their product. I think that it is misleading.

Review: Ethical electric charged me more per kwat than contract says. I called the company and they admitted it but the customer support rep said a manager had to take care of it and that a manager would call me back. My electric bill is 623 dollars, double of what our highest bill ever was. I did not hear from anyone, so after a week I called back, then again, and again, still being promised a manager would call me. I did get a phone message from a manager but missed the call because I left my phone for 15 minutes. I called back immediately, but they said I would have to wait for a manager to call me again. He (his name is [redacted]) never did. I called three more times since then and they promised me a manager would call me. No manager would call me. I had to pay [redacted] so that I would not be late, which I've never been late. I need Ethical Electric to fix my bill.Desired Settlement: Ethical electric needs to call me and resolve this bill. And they need to change their name, because there is nothing ethical about their business.

Review: I was contacted on numerous occasions by Ethical Electric to try to convince me to allow them to be my supplier of my electricity. After listening to their claims, I discussed the consequences with the woman on the phone. I asked numerous times if my rates would be affected in any way. I was assured over and over that this had nothing to do with the rates of the service, only who provided the electricity. I am a finance manager, and keep very good personal financial records. I would NOT have even considered switching if I had been given any indication that my rates would be higher. I contacted [redacted] today to see about getting on an average payment plan since my bill has gotten so high. When I was informed of the much higher (double) rates that Ethical Electric is charging me, I asked to switch back immediately. Because I am not allowed to switch mid month - I am forced to pay the higher rates for another 3 weeks. And if Ethical Electric doesn't get the paperwork to [redacted] by 10/1, I will be forced to pay those rates for another month. I am certain the call was recorded - is there a way to request the audio to prove that I was told there would be no rate increase? We are military and moved here from California. I feel I was totally taken advantage of, and I am not even allowed to fix it!Desired Settlement: I would like a credit of some kind for the astronomical rates that I am being charged. I will be sure to warn all of my friends, family and military friends to steer clear of Ethical Electric!!

Review: Good afternoon,

I received a letter regarding a switch to Ethical Electric as my energy supplier, be advised someone visited my home 2 weeks ago and spoke to my wife, as well as my two sons. At no time did I sign any agreement to switch, nor did my wife or sons. I wish to remain with my current carrier, and I've already replied to them via e-mail at the address I've given you. At 80 years old, it seems these companies prey on older folks like myself, and if my youngest son had not caught this i'd be responsible for unnecessary costs. I wish to remain with my current carrier, [redacted] Energy, LLC.

Good afternoon,

Review: Ethical Electric represented itself as enabling a price discount by switching from

[redacted] to their service.

However Ethical Electric Generation and Transmission charges far out priced three times the amount charged by [redacted].

Over the 5 month period they appeared on my bill their Generation & Transmission charges reached as high as $ 340.0 a month.

All the time my KWHs or usage was declining.

To compare [redacted] same charges are about $70.00 a month.

I have since discontinued with Ethical Electric but am still trying to pay off these excessive & outragous charges.

I feel duped and robbed. Something is very wrong here!Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the amount paid in excess of what [redacted] would have charged during this same time period.

[redacted] contacted the Revdex.com as she was concerned with a change in her recent bills issued by Ethical Electric. Upon receipt of [redacted]'s complaint, a supervisor researched the customer's account to ensure she was charged the correct rate. At the time of enrollment, the customer agreed to a month to month variable rate plan with Ethical Electric. It has been determined that [redacted] has been billed correctly as per her agreement with Ethical Electric. However, as a sign of good faith, we will provide the customer a good will credit. On June 18, 201 4 a representative with Ethical Electric called and spoke with [redacted] to notify her that she'd receive a credit in the form of a check. We feel [redacted] is satisfied with the resolution.

Sales representative said the rate would not exceed my local utility's rate with in the first 6 months, however the rate jumped, almost doubling, after one billing cycle. I called to ask what happened and the representative said that there is only one month at the local rate and that I could lock in at a rate lower than the billed but still higher than the local company for 3 months. Cancelled them that day but still had to wait the billing cycle for them to transfer me back. I never received a notice of cancellation in the mail from them. Several weeks after I was back with my local company their retention dept began to call me every business day, sometimes more than once a day. I have repeatedly asked them to stop contacting me. Today when I told the rep that called that I have asked several times for them to stop contacting me she told me "well there are multiple suppliers in your area" and as I started to respond she hung up. This company is shady at best.

Review: * Ethical Electric called me to switch from [redacted] and promise will provide a clean energy and will charge same rate as [redacted]. ([redacted] rate per unit was 10.30 cents)

* Ethical Electric confirmed these allegations on its website. Proof can be provided.

* Phone agreement with Ethical Electric in July 2013

* Ethical Electric at the beginning charged same rate as [redacted] but two months later on charged 20.79 cents. (Information was provided to me by [redacted] Customer service)

* January 07, 2014 I canceled the contract before the end of the billing cycle which was January 24, 2014.

* Balance at the time of cancellation provided by the manager was $182.54. Ethical Electric advised me that no penalty fees will apply

*Ethical Electric sent me a bill $ 840.24 in February 2014 after the contract was cancelled but was not able provide the reason why amount went from $182.54 to $ 840.24

[redacted] advised me that billing information was provided by Ethical Electric and this company need provide me explanation of the situation

*Ethical Electric refused to provide any explanation pretending that the billing information belongs to [redacted]

I was sent back and forth by these two companies. To avoid my service suspended I made exceptional effort to pay this amount. During the last call I had with Ethical Electric the manager advised me that full payment was received. He however let me know that no written information will be sent to [redacted] to make the necessary adjustment on the account as requested by their partner.

In May 2014, [redacted], the collector wanted to suspend my service because it did not receive from Ethical Electric the authorization to make the required adjustment. I then had to set up an agreement to continue paying again the amount already paid just to avoid any suspension of the service while waiting waiting for the settlement of the issue.

I received two checks from Ethical Electric of $ 44.41 and 109.02 as compensation. Ethical Electric was unable to provide how the reach these amounts. I advised this company that no check will be cashed until issue is definitely settled.

As today July 14, 2014; the balance on the account is $775.75 despite payments made and the agreed amount I have to pay on July 15, 2014 to avoid any suspension of service is 196.66.

This is too much a heavy financial load for anybody unemployed since March 2013 as I am. I deem I am being abused by these two companies.Desired Settlement: I will really appreciate any action you may take to have these two companies get together to resolve the issue immediately. I already advised Ethical Electric that it had broken the contract and would like be reimbursed all payments made upon this contract.

Upon receipt of [redacted]'s complaint with the Revdex.com, a supervisor with Ethical Electric researched his account. I am rejecting this response because: I mentioned to Justin the Member service Manager of Ethical Electric that the amount involved was not $ 248. 13 but $840.24 as billed by [redacted] on behalf of Ethical Electric in February 2014.

Review: I am a big proponent of alternative energy and I thought why not practice what I preach and switchover to renewables? I was actually contacted out of the blue by Ethical Electric and was ready to make the switch. I was willing to pay a higher rate than DelMarVa (currently 0.08/kWh) and when I spoke to the agent she stated they have several plans ranging from 11.6 cents to 13 cents per kWh. I chose the regional 11.6 cents option. I asked if this was a fixed rate to which the representative responded that yes it was. What she forgot to mention was that it was only for the first three months. This was conveniently right before their winter rates were going to begin.

The first increase was to 11.82 cents which alerted me to the fact that I was not on a fixed rate plan. When I called I was told that I was in fact only on a fixed plan for three months but that the rates would not climb much higher. The very next bill I get was for $345 and the rate skyrocketed to 18.9 cents!!!! I couldn't believe it! I called immediately to get clarification and was YET AGAIN assured the rate would not increase so I left it go. Of course, once again I was lied to. After thinking about it, I decided to cancel on February 28th (halfway through the billing cycle). I figured I would stop the bleeding and switch back to DelMarVa. The Ethical representative had no issue quickly cancelling my enrollment but what they forgot to mention was that it would not be effective for another billing cycle so I once again received a bill with power supplied by them. I used less energy but the bill was the same $345 because, you guessed it, the rate went up again to 20.79 cents!!

This is the first time I've felt inclined to file a complaint with the Revdex.com. I've never felt more "taken" in my life. I'm filing this complaint not just for myself but for the entire alternate energy movement. Companies like Ethical Electric (ironically named) are not doing anything but bolstering the claims of climate change detractors that it is all a sham/scam/ploy/racket. They can say what they want as reasons to justify the insane rates but I know for a fact that it doesn't cost twice as much for a wind turbine to spin in cold winter air as it does in warm summer air, in fact it is actually the opposite.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for all charges outside the original $0.116/kWh fixed rate that I thought I was going to be paying. Here's the breakdown:

Jan 2014, billed $179.19 (1516 kWh @ $0.1182/kWh), should have been $175.86 ($0.116/kWh), difference of $3.33 -

Feb 2014, billed $344.93 (1825 kWh @ $0.189/kWh), should have been $211.70 ($0.116/kWh), difference of $133.23 -

March 2014, billed $344.28 (1656 @ $0.2079/kWh), should have been $192.10 ($0.116/kWh), difference of $152.18 -

Total Refund: $288.74

Review: I am a [redacted] Power customer and I selected Ethical Electric to supply electricity at my home. My [redacted] account # is [redacted].

In Feb-2014 Ethical Electric billed me $0.1007 per KWH unit and in my March 2014 and April 2014 statements they doubled this rate to $0.2079 per KWH in a single shot.

In March-2014 I was billed 1835 KWH @ .2079 and in April I was billed 1580 KWH @ .2079.

I called Ethical electric and they aren't willing to hear this, for them this rate is a normal rate. I asked them to transfer me to their manager or supervisor and they took my number and no one ever called me back.Desired Settlement: I want Ethical electric to review my account and update the rate back to $0.1007 and refund me access charge amount of 366.51 that

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as Ethical electric has agreed to refund me amount I had in my complaint that was overcharged.

Regards,

Review: I was solicited by Ethical Electric as a [redacted] customer this past March with a flyer asking if we would like to stop using 'dirty' energy and switch over to clean energy. The solicitation offered prices that would be equal or less of what we are currently paying. At the time, we were currently on the [redacted] budget package. It made it seem that we would be saving from the 188 (as an budget average) that we were currently paying. Being altruistic, my husband and I decided to switch to a cleaner energy. The solicitation did not make it clear that their charges would be in addition to a monthly [redacted] charges, and it did not make it seem that they were a completely different company than [redacted], we just thought it was a different product (type of energy) being offered by [redacted]. Nothing changed in our bill March-May, so we assumed it was "equal" and not "better" rates. In our past two bills, however through [redacted], we have been charged and additional 150 -190 dollars each month, on top of 115 dollars [redacted] has been charging us for their gas and electric charges. I cannot shake off the feeling that this was faulty advertising by Ethical Energy, and that I have been scammed. I called up Ethical Electric immediately when I figured this scam out to ask that my service with them be stopped immediately, and they told us they can do this, but there will be 1 or 2 more bill cycles before this can be finalized. Based on this trend, that will be and 150-190 per month that we will have to pay, and probably more as the trend of the bill is rising (and according to other consumer reports, the bill really goes up by the third month!).Desired Settlement: Idealistically, I would like to chalk this up to unfair/faulty/untrue advertising, and get a refund for every cent that I have and will pay to this company. Realistically, I would at least like to not have to pay one penny more beginning today, August 8, 2014 since I have asked to be discontinues immediately. I am between jobs now, and my husband just started with a new company. As a teacher, I do not get paid the big money many feel we deserve, and we have a very strict budget, and try to do whatever we can to minimize our bills. We were comfortable with our monthly [redacted] budget bills, and would never knowingly do anything change that price. It was made to seem that we will be paying similar and if not better rates for cleaner energy. This is what we thought as of a win win, but close to $400 dollars down in the past two months, and seemingly more deficit to come, we do not feel this is a win win situation anymore! Please help us out and do the right thing!

Upon receipt of [redacted]' complaint with the Revdex.com, a supervisor with Ethical Electric researched her account. Our records indicate the customer was billed according to the agreement made upon enrollment. As a sign of good faith Ethical Electric will issue the customer a good will credit for the difference in the rate the customer was charged and the rate of their Utility at the time they were billed. On August 14, 2014 a supervisor with Ethical Electric reached out to [redacted] to notify her of the solution. We feel the customer is satisfied with the resolution.

I have been a lifelong environmentalist. Ten years ago I became a mother to a wonderful boy. My concern for the planet increased ten fold when he was born and my resolve to leave a better world for future generations was solidified.
Ten tears ago I also became a home owner and I have strived to do all of the recommended acts to reduce the carbon footprint from my home's energy use. Homes are necessary, but are also the largest contributors to global greenhouse gases.
Two years ago I became an Ethical Electric customer. Now I feel pride when I pay my bill each month because I know that my falling asleep with the TV on did not impact the planet or my child's world in the future. It's a decision I would make over and over again.

Review: I switched over to Ethical electric under the sales pitch that my electric bill would drop if I used Ethical electric to provide power instead of [redacted] Power. After determining that my bill did not decrease I asked to be switched back to my original electrical provider, [redacted] power in February of 2014. They gave me a cancelation number and said it would take 4-6 weeks. By August of 2014 they still have not done it. I called them again on August 20 and they said they were sorry for the delay and gave me a new cancellation number and said that it would be done right away. We just received our new bill on September 28th. They still have not switched.Desired Settlement: Please contact them and explain they cannot do business like this. Their name should be changed to UNETHICAL ELECTRIC.

Response:

[redacted] contacted the Revdex.com alleging there was a delay in cancelling his account with Ethical Electric. Upon receipt of [redacted]'s complaint, a supervisor researched the customer's account to determine whether [redacted]'s account had been canceled according to his request. Upon review of his account, it was determined a processing error had occurred which caused a delay in [redacted]'s account being canceled. As such, Ethical Electric has issued [redacted] a credit for all bills issued after the date the customer requested their account be canceled. On October 9, 2014 a supervisor spoke with [redacted], explained the delay in the cancellation of the customer's account, and provided the credit information. We believe [redacted] is satisfied with the resolution.
