ETR 407 Express Toll Route Reviews (%countItem)

Several years ago I cancelled the service as I would be retiring and living several hours North of GTA and never use the service...at that time I was told not to return the transponder as it did not matter and it would be deactivated. About 2 months ago I receive an invoice for annual renewal of service. There is no plate number linked to the account as well. I did file a dispute resolution request which was denied. The invoice amount is only $28.60, but that is not the point. It is frustrating to receive *** auto phone calls.

Desired Outcome

I want no further contact from the 407, I want the account closed (again), and I want the amount cleared from the account.

The issue has been resolvedThank you for your help!

Received a letter on July 18, about driving they Canadian toll roads and not paying. I have not been to Canada. The license plate on the bill does not match my plate number. The only information on this paper that is correct is my name and address.
I called the number to let them know this is not me and it always says they are closed.

Desired Outcome

I do not owe this money. I was not in Canada on the dates given. I have not been to Canada. ***. Please resolve this issue

Approximately 4-5 years ago I returned the transponder for my vehicle and cancelled my account. The 407 continues to accrue charges against my account despite cancelling this account. The transponder was not received by them when I sent it back, as such I've reported it lost.
In 2018 I received a bill that I was told would go to collections in excess of $300. After several weeks a Manager called and said the charges would be cancelled, however; they had no record of me cancelling this account. I was told it would be cancelled.
At the end of May 2019 I received another bill for transponder fees for a transponder I do not have in my possession and that I had reported lost/returned several years ago.
I called 407ETR on June 3rd at @ 11:35am and spoke with *** who informed me that the charges would be reversed. I again advised that the transponder is not in my possession and it is lost/returned 4-5 years ago.
I don't have any confidence that 407ETR has cancelled this account and I anticipate I'm going to get another bill. I would like this matter resolved, and correspondence from a Manager at 407 that it has.

Desired Outcome

Seeking a letter or an email from a Manager at 407ETR on company letter head and signed that this account XXXXXXXXX has been cancelled. The associated transponder is understood to be lost or returned and no longer in my possession and that I will receive no further bills against this account going forward.

March 19 2019 Asked severial times for break down of cost of each section of highway to know what rates paying for or percentage of what its going to so we know where not *** we have right to know.

Desired Outcome

Like said up top like any business to be truthful for what your paying for a break down of costs of rates of each section of highway but where money is going when you pay anyone can say it costs this much or how can we trust company to be true to there word.

ETR 407 Express Toll Route Response • Mar 27, 2019

The cost of a trip depends on factors such as time of day the highway was used, vehicle class, distance and section(s) traveled and correct mounting and use of a valid transponder. The current rates are listed on our website www.407etr.com along with the Toll Calculator to determine the cost of a trip. The toll Calculator will allow you to set your starting point and destination so you are aware of the cost prior to using the highway. Toll revenue is used to add more lanes, maintain the highway, improve services and cover operational costs.

I received a bill of just over 3067 dollars for 407 etr. I paid 2567.00 in December to bring it down to 500. I've been meaning to pay the remainder and still using 407 for work here and there. I received a bill for the month of January to find that I owe just under 200, but my previous bill states I owe 800 something. I know for a fact I only owed 500 but now I owe over 1000. I'm tired of being held hostage by 407. Please help

Desired Outcome

I just want my bill to be adjusted

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accept 407s response because it is not a valid response. I want recourse. I'm sick of being *** by the 407 and paying bills of trips I did not take, or having to pay ridiculous fees for small trips when I was in fact a regular user of 407. I have already boycotted 407 for *** multiple times ***. I once asked for the pictures of certain trips that I had apparently done with the dates and times on the pictures as they said they had but when I received the pictures they were just photos of the back of my car with no dates or times. I want my bill to be adjusted to the proper manner. 190 dollars for a 9km trip is ridiculous.

As a traveller in Toronto for the second time I was trapped by 407. Trapped because the signage is such planned that the driver does not have an option to opt out IF they are able to sign the signs. I did not see any signs or entrance to a toll highway.

It is a shame on Toronto authorities to let this go. No matter how much they are making out of taxes or fees from 407.

This operation is not a fair business deal since the client is not consenting on a transaction or price. The signs on the highway are not clear, they do not give the terms to the driver.

After all is done (In a way the driver must go on since they can not go back once entered) they even charge as much for account fees and camera charges.

ETR 407 Express Toll Route Response

The purpose of our Office is to investigate unresolved matters brought forward by customers as it relates to the stipulated policies, procedures, or practices of 407 ETR after the customer has exhausted the dispute resolution process that is in place by 407 ETR. We conduct our investigations in an impartial manner, and make our recommendations based on fairness. Our investigations are based on confirmable facts.

The mandate of this office is to address service related matters, and to ensure that the policies and processes of the 407 ETR have been followed. If a breakdown occurs, or an error has been found on the organization's part, only then will consideration be given to a recommendation. In this case, our records indicate that on March 15, 2016 our Office commenced an investigation of the complaint related to the pricing of tolls and signage to show toll rates. Despite this matter being related to highway infrastructure, which is beyond the mandate of this Office, it was referred to the Highway Operations Department who confirmed the Company's compliance with safety regulations and standards as well as compliance with the Highway Traffic Act, Ontario. A letter was sent to the complainant on March 22, 2016 advising them of our findings. Included in our review was the posting of signage and we confirmed with 407 ETR's Highway Operations Department that 407 ETR complies with the regulations as set by the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO).

407 ETR is a barrier-free toll system that allows vehicles to enter and exit without having to slow down or stop for toll booths or plazas, and utilizes its road-side technology and overhead gantry systems to identify the registered owner of the licence plate that is captured, or the transponder lessee. For billing purposes 407 ETR will rely on implied consent, such as by use of, or travel on, the roll route. By law, all users of the toll route are responsible to pay for usage, including out-of-province and U.S. customers. In the event a driver enters the toll route by mistake, the best solution is to exit at the next ramp. To help drivers avoid this problem, toll highway signs are placed strategically along routes leading to 407 ETR to let drivers know in advance that 407 ETR is a toll route.

From our review we also found that on March 8, 2016 407 ETR's Customer Service Department (CSD) did apply a one-time courtesy adjustment for the Camera Charges and Account Fee, however the toll charges was deemed payable. As we recognized that the CSD at 407 ETR extended this courtesy to their customer, as it is their practice under certain circumstances, we found no evidence of a breakdown in the Company's policies, procedures, or practices.
