Evans Tire & Service Centers Reviews (%countItem)

On 7/26, I brought my 04 CTS-V to the Rancho Penasquitos Evans Tire location for an alignment. I've never been to an Evans Tire before, but since I am local, and I work in the area, I thought it would be a good idea to have the work done there. Unfortunately the car was too low, so I instead asked if they could rotate and balance my tires, which they said they could do. When I returned to pick up the car, I saw that it was damaged on the driver's side rocker molding, right behind the wheel. Before I touched the car, I went back in to let them know. Oscar, the store manager came out to inspect. He told me it didn't happen there. After claiming that it didn't happen there, and that I was scamming him, he then offered to do a walk-around on the car with me to assess if there was any damage. Something that should probably be done before-hand. I was asked to jump through a bunch of hoops to try and prove that it had happened there. I was asked by the district manager Steve *** to bring the car in and line it up with the lift posts to see if it was possible. He admitted it was possible, but said he didn't think it happened there. I went to Caliber Collision to get an estimate for the damage caused($439.71). They also commented that the damage was likely from a lift. Evans Tire's Vice President, John *** later tried to negotiate to pay me half of the estimated cost. I didn't agree and requested that the full damages be paid. Steve *** called me back and agreed to pay for the damage, without admitting fault. We filled out a settlement agreement and the estimate amount was paid to me. However, when I brought the vehicle in for the repair, Caliber Collision notified me that the part number had been superseded by a new part number from GM, and that the price would actually be $926.14. I brought this, and documentation to Steve ***'s attention, and he said that this matter was closed. They refuse to cover the rest of the damage.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • Aug 23, 2018

Our investigation determined that the damage was there prior to the work. However as a good will gesture we settle with this customer and the Customer signed a full and complete release of claims. This matter was negotiated in good faith and was resolved once the full released was executed.

Customer Response • Sep 07, 2018

My signing of the release was contingent upon the full amount of the damage being paid. The quote was adjusted based on the price of the part changing. The price of the repair was reduced to $775.09. It is my contention that no thorough investigation had taken place. Evans Tire is self-insured, and ruled in their own favor. They had absolutely zero documentation of the damage when I brought it to their attention. There were no pictures, video, or proper, accurate documentation exists to my knowledge. It wasn't till weeks later that someone had made any claim that they had documented the damage before the work started. If documentation existed, it should have been provided to me when I complained to them. The car never left their lot, and when I brought the obvious lift damage to their attention, Oscar, the store manager looked at it like neither him, nor his techs had seen the damage before. In-fact, they didn't do any sort of walk-around to document damage on the car until AFTER I had brought it to their attention. Oscar then accused me of trying to scam him. When I brought my car back to that shop to have the damage "investigated" by the District Manager, Steve ***, they were unwilling to recreate what had happened. When they pulled my vehicle into the stall, they didn't put the vehicle in gear, or apply the parking brake. The tech who pulled the car in the stall got out of the car and closed the door. My car started to roll away right in front Steve and Oscar, without one of them saying a word before I told them to apply the brake. The car had rolled back about 4-5 feet at that point. If this is the type of negligence that is accepted at Evans Tire without any sort of repercussions, then it's no wonder they damaged my car in the first place. I have not tried to leverage this company into doing anything but taking care of the damage they so obviously caused. This is not a "Better Business", and I would hope that they are held accountable.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • Sep 08, 2018

In good faith Evans Tire negotiated a goodwill refund. Evans Tire believed that we were not at fault. In exchange for the refund we received a full and completed release of all claims.

Customer Response • Sep 24, 2018

There was no "good faith" involved in any of the decisions made by Evans Tire in this entire process. Evans Tire covered the reported cost of damage caused by their lift. Evans Tire isn't a charity that hands out cash for claims. It was obvious where the damage came from. Evans Tire is a wildly negligent and dishonest company. They have absolutely zero accountability measures in place. This is evidenced by the fact that they do not do walk-arounds, have no cctv footage, don't document or take photos of supposed damage to vehicles before working on them. If they were willing to provide any of those pieces of evidence to me, I may have believed them. However, I know my car very well, and know for a fact that the damage in question was not there before I brought it to Evans Tire for tire work.

Cost to replace oil dip stick,$34.95 that retails for around $12.00 and $106.95 labor seems a little high.

I had work done on my Car at Evans Tire Service in Chula Vista, CA on Broadway Street.
While they were working on my Tire Pressure Sensors they Damaged the paint on the Rims Badly.
Note: Toyota and Evans Tire Service are the other Businesses to touch my tires or rims.
I just cleaned and waxed my car and rims no more than 2 weeks before this incident.
And I Know for Positive the damage was not present when I cleaned and polished the rims.
I called the tire service right after I left their Business.
I was told to Return to their Business and he would have my Rims fixed.
But be sure to keep the Revdex.com out of it.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • Jul 24, 2018

Dear Revdex.com if you look at this customer‘s prior complaint you will see that we already came to a resolution with this customer for goodwill in regards to his sensors. he’s never came in and has never contacted us so the sensors are at the store and he’s never come in to have them done at no charge. now he’s talking about a wheel so at is this time all offers are taken off the table and Evans Tire will do nothing for Goodwill. We did not damage the sensors or the wheel. I am instructing my Manger to return the sensors to the parts store. I am closing this complaint. We acted in good faith.

Customer Response • Jul 24, 2018

I was Told by the Supervisor at Evans Tire that the Sensors had already been installed.

So I guess they Lied to me about that and just installed

a used one to get the light to go off.

I had been to Evans Tire 3 times to get those sensors repaired.

This is Not about the sensors. That Issue has been resolved to my Satisfaction.

But during the 3 times I I had been there. My wheels had been taken off with no care taken.

My car don't have hub caps. My Rims are Painted. And every time the employee rammed the impact into

my Rims. It caused Damage. Damage that was not there before the Visit.

This car is only 5 years old. They change tires there like its a race track.

I'll stand my ground on this one.

When I called the supervisor at Evans shortly after I left their.

He admitted that he has dealt with this problem before. His personal have no concern for other peoples property.

I see this is no different than someone backing into my car.

Its damaged and I want it fixed..

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • Jul 25, 2018

I would suggest that you file an insurance claim with your insurance company. If they feel that they need to subrogate this issue I will gladly talk to them. They can contact me at at Evans Tire Corporate office my name is John Marchioni thank you. If the sensors are done to your satisfaction then the matter you originally brought is resolved. your damaged wheel in our opinion is an insurance matter.

Customer Response • Jul 27, 2018

Sir:

Its not just 1 wheel. And Why did you tell me to come back there and you would get them repaired.

You told me this when I called you right after I left there

from getting the Sensors worked on Again.

They were clearly Damaged by your Technician Servicing my Car that Day..

I will contact my Insurance Company..

This don't erase the fact that my car was damaged at your Evans Tire Store.

The damage done to the Tires was from a Tire Machine and the tools used to take a tire off the rim.

As this needs to be done to replace a TPS Tire Pressure Sensor. The Damage to the centers of the RIMS was done with a

Socket and an Impact Wrench.. the Damage inside the inner circle and on the otter edges could only be done

by a Tire changing Machine and a careless Operator..

I Purchased 4 Perrelli Tires from this Store.
Paid over $600.00
Waited 5 hours for Installation. I was told they had a guy out sick.
After Installation I noticed there were no valve caps and the warning light showed a low tire.
So I returned to the Store and the checked for thee leak and installed caps I provided.
The Lug Nuts were damaged by the Technician when he used the wrong socket on them.
Now Toyota wont touch them until they are replaced.
A couple months later I had a low tire. I could not remove the valve caps. One of them broke off dangerously
close the the needle valve. I returned to the store. The valve stem was special sensor type. $100.00.
So after Install of the new valve stem. The Counter person told me. Now its the only sensor working and that I needed to install 3 more of them at $100.00 each. All that was needed was the Tire Pressure Switch needed to be reset..

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • Jun 23, 2018

I have already responded to this. We agreed to refund the 100,00 see prior response

Customer Response • Jun 25, 2018

Take in Consideration that only Evans Tire and Toyota Service has ever touch the lug nuts.

Then also what if I took the Evans Tire Service person advice and Installed 3 more Sensors at $100.00 each. Total being $400 for 4 Sensors.

There was no wheel balancing the day I purchased the tires, they were short handed. They had 1 guy working.

The front end was not aligned. Why?

This is common procedure for a tire manufacture to Guarantee the Tires.

No Valve Stem caps.

(This is all I want)

I have Purchased 4 New Valve Stem Sensors for $50.00..

I want all my Lug Nuts Replaced. I want the Installation of the 4 new valve stem sensors.

I can Reset the sensors myself.

As for the $100.00 for the Valve Stem. Its Not Important. I don't need the $$$. I need my car fixed right.

I just want the service I should have received when the new tires were installed.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • Jun 26, 2018

I am very confused you asked Evans tire twice now to give you 100 dollars. So in good faith I agreed twice to refund you the 100 dollars. Now the request has changed. I would suggest you call the Manager at the Chula Vista location and see if you can work out a good will solution. You will need to sign a full release of claims as part of any settlement. Jose is the Manager he has been trying to contact you. I will gladly refund you the 100 dollars, if you want more now you will need to contact Jose. Thank you

Customer Response • Jun 27, 2018

I have spoken with the GM of Evans Tire and I believe we may have a Solution

worked out to resolve the Complaint.

He agreed to replace the Damaged Lugs. I'm not clear who is Paying for the Lugs.

And he has also agreed to install 4 new tire pressure sensors I have Purchased.

I would rather have the work done and have my car done right than to be Refunded any $$$.

He has agreed to make repairs on 6/30/2018 at 10:00 am..

I agreed to sign a Release or Waiver if the work is performed..

Your advertising "Buy 2 get 2 Free" is very misleading and it only applies to a max value of $250. So if your car requires say a $200 tire you get only 1.2 tires free. Considering that you then mandatorily add another $112.20 charge for the service warranty (NOT optional to get two tires free) what you are really offering is $127.80 discount on a purchase and installation of 4 tires.
Deception and *** poor start to a potentially new customer relationship, which, is not going to happen.
The whole truth will set you free. I'll copy this email to the Revdex.com.

On 11-15-17, I took my car to Evans Tires Store #33 to have the regulator mechanism to the driver's side front window fixed. It would not roll up or down, because the regulator was broken. (I've had this problem before.) They told me they would have to take the door panel off and see what the problem was and would give me a call as to how much it would cost after they had a chance to look at it. Later that morning, they called and told me it would cost $349.70 to fix. I told them to go ahead. When I went to pick it up, they told me that the "guides" inside the door still needed to be replaced, but that I could still roll the window down, as long as I did not roll it down "too far" or it would get stuck. Well, what is "too far?" I don't roll it down at all out of fear it will get stuck that way. They also told me that the needed guides were hard to locate. They said they would install them and not charge me for the labor when they got them. Since then I have called the store six or seven times and was given a different story the first 3 or 4 times I called: "the parts have been ordered and are coming from China and, because of the holidays, it's taking longer than expected"; "those parts are really hard to locate, we'll keep looking;" "the guides can only be obtained as part of the entire regulator system (which, frankly is not my problem -- they should have ordered the entire system when they had the door panel off when they took a look to see what was wrong). They were derelict in assessing what the entire problem was, although they apparently charged me $85.00 for doing so. (There is no explanation on the invoice what "Other Parts/Services" is.) It's been 5-1/2 months and they still have not fixed the problem.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response • May 02, 2018

Response to the Revdex.com complaint;

***, store manager, has contacted Mr. today, 5/2. He explained to Mr. we have contacted not only the dealership for the parts, they have been discontinued due to the age of the vehicle, but we have been to 6 wrecking yards and we have a person on e bay looking for the parts, at this time they simply are not available. We explained to Mr. we understand his frustration, but when we initially did the repairs there was no way of knowing the window tracks were bad since the window did not roll up at all. Mr. indicated he understood. *** and Mr. agreed they would give this one more week to see if we can find the parts, if not we have offered Mr. a $175 goodwill settlement refund, half of the original invoice, provided he signs a release. Mr. feels this is fair and we will finalize this one way or another in one week.

18Apr2017 at Evan's Tire Miramar branch for routine brake work. Got a call while they had the tires off saying that the right front axle was worn and should be replaced. I apprehensively agreed to the extra work costing $817.85. 23Oct2017 on a busy freeway the speedometer increased over 120mph but the car had no power & a loud noise under the hood. The car was towed. The auto shop asked did I have the axle worked on. She contacted Evans Tire directly. She informed me that the axle bracket was missing causing the axle to break & destroy the transmission. The car was towed to Evans Tire & Mngr *** filed a claim with their insurance provider taking full responsibility for all damage. 24Oct242017, I had many conversations with *** trying to come to some repair strategy agreement. Initial offer by Evans was to: replace the broken axle & a used transmission with 80K miles on it with 90-day warranty. I didn't trust them to change a tire never mind repair damage more than the actual worth of the car. A 90-day warranty on a used transmission w no knowledge of condition & that I didn't need but for Evans Tire's negligence, UNACCEPTABLE. After discussion back & forth with ***, 2nd offer was transmission w 74K miles with 6M warranty. Not know the transmission's condition & only need a transmission because Evans Tire destroyed my well cared for transmission, UNACCEPTABLE. Rapid Transmission who worked with Evans Tire on occasion offered to repair my car at a wholesale cost to Evans Tire & called *** directly. Evans Tire is NOT a transmission expert and NOT an expert except for tires & that is questionable. I have zero confidence in Evans Tire & now lost all patience dealing w the petty back and forth for a very dangerous mistake on their part. Evans VP threatened me w/ tow & storage fees if the car remained on the lot. The car would WAS ONLY THERE BECAUSE OF THEIR COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE. The car was towed to my home, where it will stay until an acceptable remedy is offered.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response

I have called *** three times and left messages. She as not returned any of my calls to help resolve this issue. I have told her on all three of my voice mails that I am the final decision maker at Evans Tire and that I am the Vice president of the company. I left her my cell phone number also. I also talked to Rapid Transmission. *** mentioned to me that if the vehicle had been in an accident that it could possibly cause this issue. We ran a car fax on this vehicle and found that it was a salvaged vehicle title, which means the car was a total loss a some point. The value of the vehicle because of the salvaged title reduces the worth of the car, to less than 1,500.00 So for a goodwill settlement we offered to replace her transmission as she stated above with a 60,000 or 6 month warranty. *** also stated that he told *** that her car with over 100,000 miles has no warranty any way and thought that our 6 month warranty was a good offer. Evans Tire will agree to either refund *** 1,000.00 or replace the transmission as I stated above.

Went here to get a tire cause discount tire was closed the guy working on our car this old man left our front lights on for 20 mins so I went out to see why and turn them off OMG he had my car turned off and my car was still in drive. Not only that the manager told me when I got there I would have to pay by either debit or credit cause he had no cash. Just when I thought it couldn't any worse the old man changing the tired opened the back door to my van and everything fell out the back of our car which were a bunch of things cause we had just got back from a road trip.

Evans Tire & Service Centers Response

This was resolved by *** our Manager at our Mission Valley location. There were three issues:

1. according to the store location the car was in neutral not drive, this is our best practice and is used on all cars.

2. The technician was putting the spare back into the back of the van and should have been careful as not to allow the belongings to fall out of the back of the van.

3. We had just paid cash for parts and did not have cash in the register to make change. *** offer to reverse this if the customer wanted to come back to the location we would credit his debit card and have the customer pay cash
