Review: I had to give my credit card number, billing information and other personal information before they would discuss my computer problems with me. I asked why I had to give them my credit card and personal information even before finding out if he could help me with my computer problem and was told that is company policy. The "expert" downloaded several things to my computer in order to fix the problem. The items the expert loaded onto my machine gave him control of my computer and he was making comments about my personal pictures of my grandchildren and other people. I removed all items that he placed on my computer. After everything was said and done I then realized that this is a scam operation and want a full refund. I believe this was an attempt to steal my identity and what the expert did never fixed my computer issues, but allowed him full access to all my personal files, banking information, etc. I talked with Expert Support Live representative and asked for a refund but was given the run around and was spoken to very rudely and they were very unprofessional. I contacted my credit card company and they would arbitrate the claim. As of today's date I have no resolution.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund.

Review: Evening of 10/**/15 computer frozen but sign on screen says your computer's been hacked and has numerous viruses. Contact Microsoft Services immediately at ###-###-####. Said I had 2 options; contact a CCNA Certified Technician ASAP to repair computer in 2 days for $299. or that they at Microsoft could correct the damage in 1 hour computer to computer for the $299.99. They said they wouldn't take a credit card due to security issues but would accept an EFT from my bank. Believing this was Microsoft I agreed. What they did only added problems to my lap top. I told my daughter about how Microsoft had fixed it and she told me it was a scam which I verified on the internet. I attempted to stop payment on the check and US Bank froze my checking account and cancelled my bank card but the check way cashed by then. They misrepresented themselves in order to steal funds. I can't even get through to their phone. I've contacted Microsoft, the FTC, both the TN and NY Attorney Generals, US Bank and now the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I would like the people behind this to be charged with misrepresentation to defraud and grand larceny via computer fraud and I would love for the judge to make sure that all theft be repaid to their victims. I know that I would appreciate a refund.

Review: On Saturday, August *, 2014, I sat down at my computer to look something up. When I did so my commuter had an error message that said [redacted] has detected an error on your computer and a phone number was provided to ask for assistance. I called this number in the belief it was a message from [redacted] and I was dealing with [redacted]. After I called this number I spoke with “[redacted]” of your company. [redacted] explained to me that I had a very bad virus on my system, that I had been hacked and that my IP address was compromised. I then allowed [redacted] on-line access to my computer. He was unable to remove the virus and said I needed a “Cisco” certified specialist. I said there are none of those in my area; I live in a small town. He then said well, we can fix it at which time he connected me to “[redacted]”, an apparent billing person. [redacted] told me it would cost $299 to fix my computer. She then told me my cell phone was corrupted too because I have Wi-Fi on my iPhone through my computer on my cell phone and that would be an additional $99.00 to clean that up as well, for a total of $398.00.

[redacted] or [redacted] then came onto my computer and told me he was fixing the problem and removing viruses. Following this work I was emailed a DocuSign envelope. No receipt, nothing on letterhead, just basically a piece of paper saying “This is to bring your notice that your PC/Laptop problem has been fixed.

Following this incident I spoke to a few people about what had happened and they told me this was a scam! On Monday morning I contacted [redacted] in Washington. I spoke with a customer service representative and told him what had happened. The [redacted] technician had never heard of your company, or the scenario I laid out for me. He then scanned my computer and found that it was full of “malware”. How did this get there if I paid you $299 to clean my computer? He confirmed for me that this was a scam.

In addition to the above, I called my cell phone carrier and they advised me that my iPhone was never at risk! It is my position that you perpetrated a fraud and on those grounds, I have cancelled my payment to you.

Additionally, I went to the Revdex.com website to see if there was any information about your company. Guess what I found? A complaint from a gentlemen who had a problem similar to mine, the only difference was his involved a printer. He was sold the same bill of goods, put the same scenario, and that it would cost $299 to fix the problem. You can rest assured I will advise the Revdex.com of my experience with you.Desired Settlement: That the credit card charges paid to this company be cancelled.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

I wanted you to know that the charge I disputed has been refunded. Is there anything additional I need to do? I do want this complaint to appear on your website as I feel this company takes unfair advantage of people.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Review: On 12/**/2014 my computer shut down and a pop-up appeared stating my computer had a virus and I needed to call this 800 number (###-###-####) to fix my computer or my bank account would be jeopardized. I called the number and they stated they were [redacted] and it would be $199.99 to fix my computer. I proceeded to give them my account information and they withdrew the $199.99 from my account. The pop-up disappeared. I later learned that [redacted] does not contact people and this company was a scam. I immediately went to my bank and disputed the charges and changed my account information. Expert Support Live did try to withdraw an additional unauthorized amount out but failed as I had already changed my bank information. The bank was unable to recover the $199.99. I have since received a scam alert warning from my [redacted] fraud alert program about this company and their scam.Desired Settlement: Recovery of the scammed amount $199.99.

Review: I called what I thought was a Canon printer service to update my printer with my computer to the new service here. The person I spoke to had an [redacted] accent, and told me we should check my computer for a virus, and said he would transfer me to a repair tech. Which he did, that person had checked my computer and informed me I had a bad virus, had been hacked from an out of country source and it needed to be fixed before I could get my printer set-up. Then he led me to believe he was with Canon, and could repair my computer and with this Expert Support Live service which would then allow me to contact them at anytime for any problem with my computer if I took their 2 year support package for 299.00. When I questioned the security breach with this supposed hacker, I asked why my anti-virus program I had (Kaspersky) did not show anything wrong. He told me it was very easy for hackers such as this to by pass this, so that it shows its working but its because the hacker can do that. He strongly recommended that I take the protection service for 299.00 and that they can fix the problem. So, I used my Visa credit card and went with their service. They did initially get me set-up and fixed the next couple issues I had. But I was continuing to have problems, and so I became frustrated ( and that tech had told me he was actually working from India (he also had an [redacted] accent, his name was [redacted]) but they're main center was in New York. After having more issues, I decided to call the Canon # again for my printer and ask them about this service. The person I spoke to there was a higher up in the company and had assured me absolutely they were NOT based in New York nor connected to this company in ANY way. I called Expert support back with a computer issue they could not fix, asked for a refund, they agreed to 120.00 but have never done it. I have called several times with no resolve. A HUGE SCAM, requesting a full refund for the headaches and lack of service.Desired Settlement: Because they could not fix my last issue, they had agreed to a 120.00 refund. But after contacting my credit card several times for the credit, they even suggested to contact paypal, and try to get a Full refund. Which I am asking for. Not only did they misrepresent themselves, scam me into a 2 year contract, did not fix my last problem, agreed to a refund of 120.00 but never acted upon it, and never resolved this issue, I feel they should be held accountable. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here] I received thru you, the Revdex.com that there was a response. It basically said to call their number. I just did that this morning, a person named [redacted] answered, I informed him I was filing a complaint and had received this message to call. He told me it was an automated computer response. I then asked him if we were going to resolve this issue or should I continue with the complaint thru the Revdex.com. He informed me to continue with the complaint and that was the end of our conversation. Again, completely unprofessional.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: I believe I was scammed by Expert Support Live when I found my computer frozen with a message saying that the computer had been attacked by a virus and posted a number to call Microsoft for correction of the problem. The person to whom I spoke told me that my computer had been hacked and hijacked and that my banking and personal information and passswords were at risk. This caused such alarm that I agreed to be connected to Expert Support Live for assistance in cleaning up my computer. They convinced me to allow them access to 2 of my computers at a charge of $249.99 each. Shortly after the transaction, I realized I had most likely been scammed due to the high pressure fear tactic pitch that I was given.Desired Settlement: I would like to make the Revdex.com aware of this probable scam so that this company can be investigated.
