Dear Revdex.com
Express
Tire takes customer service very seriously. We have investigated [redacted] complaint and are trying to get in contact with him so that we can find a
resolution.
Sincerely,[redacted]

I have a 2008 Acura TL, My engine light went on saying service engine soon. From prior experience with my vehicle, a routine oil change & tune-up resolves this. I went to Express Tire in Santee for an estimate. I was told I needed a timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump and 2 motor mounts & was told that my car would break down if I didn't get the work done. I told Vince "NO NOT RIGHT NOW", & that all I could afford was an "OIL CHANGE ONLY". Vince was so pushy & I was pressured to get the work done. I was told it would take a while due to the extensive removal of the engine. My boyfriend applied for the credit they offer, FLEX PAY. The car was dropped off at 1:30 and were told the car had been ready at 5:30p.m. THAT SAME DAY! They said the total was $2,687.00! I said that I was quoted $1,400.00, so it was reduced to $2202.00. I was charged for TEN HOURS OF LABOR! I asked how could that be considering they said it was ready 4 1/2 hours later & Chris' response was "there were 2 mechanics on it at the same time". I'm unable to pay the bill & my car is still there whilst I'm without transportation. Now they've told me that my car is to be moved to a facility in Escondido for "safety reasons" and that I would be charged 35.00 a day storage fees on top of what I supposedly owe to get my car back. In addition to all this, I have found out that Express Tire has committed FRAUD! They told Flexpay that my boyfriend & I had made a $1,500 deposit for the work done on my car so that they would approve a loan & now he has an open loan in the amount of $800.00 which he did not agree to... ALL HE DID WAS APPLY FOR CREDIT. Furthermore my car has damage, it appears that there are NO NEW PARTS installed, they are rude, lie, hang up on me & refuse to let me test drive my vehicle or show me the work they SUPPOSEDLY PERFORMED on my car.

Review: I took my car to this location to get a simple oil change. An hour later I was called and told there were numerous "other" issues with my vehicle. I was told that my car had zero oil in it even though I check my oil prior to bringing it in with a full reading. In addition, I was told my oil pan was profusely leaking and it would need to be replaced to stop it from leaking and they could do this for several hundred dollars. Having checked my oil consistently prior to and after the service I know this to be false as not one drop of oil has hit the pavement beneath my car or within the engine. I also have experience working on cars and changing oil which has allowed me to inspect the car. Today which is four days after the service I have yet to see any sort of leak, oil loss, or damage to the oil pan. Also to my dismay I returned to the site after telling them not to pursue any service besides the oil change to find my car has all four tires off and the technicians were looking at other areas of the car. I was told this is standard there even though I told them to just do the oil change and be done with it.Desired Settlement: I want to make others aware of the shady business practices going on at this location so they can avoid being scammed into additionalservices being added

Review: Dear Sir/Madame This is my dilemma on or about Jan I went into 4th, 2013 Express Tire in Vista, California for a simple oil change after seven five hours I was told I needed a radiator flush because my levels were low and a set of new brakes for front and back . So I told them to go ahead they ca shed me out at that point because I was told in the beginning that it was only going to take two hours at most. seven hours later we were still there I witnesses while there several other customers that came in also for just an oil change and left several hours later paying for everything from water pumps to entire radiators. It was if they were purposely finding other problems to make money no one was happy about the outcome. When we finally left I decided that Express Tire was not a place to take my car back to my suspicion was confirmed about three days I spotted a small leak of two spots I called and the guy at Express said it was problem the over flow when the fluids were refilled mine you even though the car is old I have never witnessed any leaks. We started on our way to Jacksonville, Florida right outside of El Paso, Texas the car over heated and the anti-freeze poured out of the over-flow tank we had to wait several hours for it to cool down. We started back on our way and get temp gauge stated it was getting hot again. We pulled off and had the fluids check and everything was fine. About two hours out of El Paso the temp gauge went all the way to extreme hot we pulled off and checked the radiator it was completely empty it must have leaked out while we were in route. We were stranded in the middle of nowhere with a whole bunch of abandoned and businesses with no protection we could have been killed, raped or torture-red after about an hour we decided to call [redacted] after the car cooled down we were sacred to drive it by the time [redacted] showed up it was 4:30 a.m. we were towed fifty-miles and left at some mechanic shop in a small town in Texas. Where again we were left in the middle of no where in the freezing cold snow on the waiting another fours hours until the shop open. this was the six of January. We were supposed to be in Jacksonville , Florida by the 7th so we missed our appointment. The mechanic fixed the car and told us that whomever worked on the car at Express Tire didn't bother to recheck his work because the plug at the bottom of the radiator was barely screwed in that's why it over heated he refilled the fluids checked the hoses and we were on our way again. About 100 miles into another part of Texas the temp gauge started moving over to extreme hot we were again in the middle of nowhere he had to pull off about six or seven times before we found a small town. We pulled into [redacted] and lucky for us a mechanic worked there in broke the scenario down to us. This is what he think happen not only did they not put the plug back in properly they didn't remove the thermostat at the time they flushed the radiator so it had a lot of build up and the motor had air in it which caused the radiator to over heat he said until the air build-up subsided with-in the motor it would constantly over heat. Or we could take the thermostat out and freeze to death while we drove because we wouldn't have heat or air we choose to keep pulling off until the latter. We made it to Louisiana outside of Lake Charles when we ran out of money because of the extra days and gas spent on the road we were stranded for two days sleeping in the car in the Walmart parking lot I was able to borrow a few dollars and we made it to the Florida state line where we slept in the car at the visitor center we as able to get more money. We made it to our destination seven days later on the 14th. I called the Corporate office and told them the same story he basically, called me a liar and stated that I was the problem and didn't know what I was talking about and told me to get the problem checked out and he would go from there. He never called back and he went on vacation while I was stranded with no money and sleeping at truck stops with not a care in the world. I called the office back and someone else had my case he told me without in receipts he couldn't do anything for me he would only refund for the service render the guy at the shop didn't give me a receipt and I paid cashed after sleeping in 23 degree temperatures in the car we just wanted to be on our way. I told him since I had to use my tow because of there neglect I wanted reimbursement for that I am still trying to get a copy of the bill. I feel that they old me for that extra seven days of pain and suffering I still get a chill up my spine when I think where we slept in the harsh conditions rain, hurricane warnings, flooding and worse we could have ended in a body bag or even worse never found. My question should I file an complaint is there any resolution for me and my daughter? Cordially, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to have a cash settlement this incident changed my entire left my car does work the same anymore my diabetes is out of control we didn't have food or water. I missed my appointments because we got here over a week late. My daughter has been stressed because of being stranded in the car she goes to school via the internet and couldn't turn in her work and she was suppose to graduate. I am a Kidney Transplant and recent Cancer Survivor I didn't need the added stress.$6219.00

Dear Revdex.com

We requested repair bills for Ms. [redacted]’s repairs and towing, which she was unable to provide. We offered, as a goodwill gesture, the $95.52 that she spent on services at our store and we emailed her a release form that she needed to sign and send back, which she has not responded to. We are more than happy to investigate her complaint further if she would send us her repair bills. Let us know the name, address and phone number of the shops that she had her car serviced at.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First of all we were on the side of the road all night in 23 degree weather it took four hours to get a tow we could have been killed I do not have the tow bill or the repair bill it could be anywhere since we have moved several times looking for work. We called the tire company after we got on the road again he accused me of taking the plug out we suffered being in there car fir two days in tornado weather stranded in a Walmart parking lot.

Review: On 5/26/2015 I went to Express Tire to purchase tires for 2 vehicles, a 2009 Chevrolet Impala and a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, because my credit wasn't up to par I was offered the Express Tire "Flex Pay" program not being made fully aware of the interest involved in the transaction which to my surprise several days later was well over 100%!! almost 200%!!. I truly believe that the store manager purposely set out to deceive me by not making me fully aware of the terms of the contract verbally and in writing because as I have been going through all the invoices and work orders I have become aware that I was not given a copy of the contractDesired Settlement: I truly believe that I should be compensated by have all my financial obligations relieved and that the store manager should be reprimanded in the strongest possible way

Review: We are furious. This is not the first bad experience my family has had at Express Tire in Penasquitos but is by far the most disturbing. Most recently we took our boat trailer to have the bearings repacked and capped. Should be very simple and easy. They repacked them said they only had one cap and returned the trailer. We thought all was fine and we could survive without the other cap so we bought one next door at the parts store and thought it was no big deal. Until this weekend when one of our bearings blew, nearly caused an accident and we had to tow the trailer to a trailer shop only to find out Express Tire had but the WRONG BEARING GREASE in the bearings. They did not use the appropriate Marine Wheel Bearing Grease but put car grease in the bearings which directly resulted in not only a near accident but an expensive day of dealing with the trailer and having to fix it correctly.

We want our money back, our time back and god forbid had this caused an accident and injury we would be suing Express Tire.

Absolutely unacceptable gross negligence!Desired Settlement: We spent over $400 on initial visit where the incorrect grease was used. We now had to spend more than that to have the trailer repaired correctly.

Review: I brought my car to Express tire for an oil change on April 15, 2014.The check engine light came on a few days ago. When my mechanic checked the car he advised there was almost no oil in the car and the filter was several months old, he believes that an oil change was never performed.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the oil change that was never performed and for Express tire to cover the cost for my mechanic to run diagnosis and change the oil. I have contacted them to request this but they denied my request.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com

Review: I wrote a 5 star review on 9/29/13 and it has since been filtered by Express corporate. Hmm, I wonder why. I have since been dealing with [redacted] in charge of customer service ( left him a voice mail on Saturday 10/5/13 ) and called him on Monday 10/7/13. Did speak with [redacted] on 10/7/13 & 10/8/13 and [redacted] told me he had my file in front of him and [redacted] the DM for the Oceanside location. [redacted] told me I would be notified by [redacted]. I had not gone back on [redacted] to delete my 5 star review until I had gotten my issues resolved. I feel I have been more than patient. I was told on last Thursday 10/10/13 afternoon by [redacted] the DM I would here back from him no later than the following morning on 10/11/13. Today is 10/14/13 and I have not heard from [redacted] or [redacted]. Shame on you both. Less than 1 week after I wrote this amazing review my coolant light came on my way home from work which was alarming because Express Tire in Oceanside just drained the coolant and radiator / flushed it and refilled with coolant. I called immediately when I got home and spoke with [redacted]. He told me to bring back 1st thing in the morning, which I did. I was told that my radiator had a leak, my hoses need to be replaced, and also suggested new thermostat all costing $932.65. [redacted] wrote on my estimate sheet that my car had over 400k miles on it. I told him this was not true and he knew how many miles are on my car. He said it didn't matter. He also wrote on my estimate that I needed to rotate & balance my tires, needed alignment. Um, I JUST GOT 4 NEW TIRES & ALIGNMENT FROM THEM LESS THAN 1 WEEK PRIOR!!!! I asked him why he wrote that and his reply was..." He had to or corporate would get mad". I went home and called [redacted]'s to get prices on on the parts I was told I needed to replace involving the radiator. I also told [redacted] my radiator isn't even 2 years old. His reply, they don't last that long. I got quoted for parts from [redacted]'s $300 plus. [redacted] said I could buy the parts and they would charge me labor of only $450. I took my car the very next Saturday to get a second opinion. I received a call from the 2nd opinion place and was told there was nothing wrong with my radiator, hoses, or thermostat. The leak came from a clamp that was not put back on properly by Express Tire. I was also told that my #2 cylinder had 120 psi the other 3 had 175 and suggested not to fix the car and not even do maintenance on the vehicle, but add fluids as needed. I was completely floored and very disturbed because as you read in my prior 5 star review. I brought my car to Express Tire in March of this year with asking them to check my car for misfire / check engine light being on. I gave them over $450.40 that time with new distributor cap, wiring, oil change etc. Since March of this year has been over $1,300. The told me to contact a dealer for the misfire and also gave me a name of a mechanic they refer to get a new crank shaft sensor. The completely took advantage of me and have no integrity what so ever. I seriously don't know how they can look themselves in the mirror. The first words out of the DM [redacted]'s mouth the first time we spoke was, "he was going to write every single employee up". Very unprofessional to say the least. I was a regional customer service manager for a very large grocery chain for new employee's and upper management. It is not appropriate to display this kind of leadership to the customer and is something to be dealt with privately and on individual basis. [redacted] should have been more concerned for the customer, "ME" instead of telling me how he was going to deal with his employees. I offered to bring the brand new tires back and buy 4 used tires, since I only had them for 1 week with approximately 100 miles on them. [redacted] told me they don't do that. I said, okay then pay for my entire bill and all the monies I given since March when I first came to them with this misfire issue. Not only has [redacted] failed to call me by Friday morning, which he said he would do. I now am finding myself to delete the 1st review and now going to file formal complaint with the Revdex.com and other agencies / legal if need be. I would not recommend Express Tire to anyone. The right thing to do is take care of your customer and return what you've taken from me.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate to be contacted by the DM [redacted] no later than tomorrow for update. I want this resolved immediately. I have been more than patient. I want my monies back now. I was willing to bring my brand new tires back and buy 4 used tires since Express Tires have been unethical with their practices. They have yet to call me back and now want my money back that I have paid them since March of this year when I brought my vehicle to be inspected for the misfire. I now also them to pay the balance on credit line I opened when I purchased the tires recently this last time and would have never done so knowing about the #2 cylinder and they completely lied about my radiator, hoses, thermostat etc. as noted in the above complaint.

I met with [redacted] on 10/17/13 at 5pm to accept the offer. He had me sign release waivers ( which I did ) and accept the $650. Gave [redacted] my debit card. I then called [redacted] the next afternoon as my bank had no record. I was told by Express tire they had a glitch and should be in my account by today Tuesday or Wednesday. My bank has told me I should at least see it pending which I don't. I now want all of the monies I gave them from March to now of $1,361. I have been more than patient and also want cash, which is how I paid for my transactions. If express tire can give me cash by end of business day today of $650, I will accept original offer. I left a [redacted] with Express Tire a message last evening an awaiting his return call today. I do understand the POS systems do go down, but this should have already been back in my account. I was a regional customer service manager for large grocery company and am fully aware of how the POS systems work.

Review: I have been going to Express Tire for over a year. I have had 4-5 oil changes completed here, as well as some other repairs. Each time I have left with over $1000 in repairs, all suggestive and all perceived as important and critical by the sales associate and mechanics. On this particular time, while performing a routine oil change, they found that my oil pan socket was stripped, which was never brought up in the previous 4-5 oil changes no have I noticed visual oil leakage. I feel this is a problem that would have been caught within the previous oil changes and was never ever brought up as a concern prior to. This instance they drained the oil and told me that they cannot perform an oil change with out fixing the problem. I had no option to take my vehicle elsewhere to get fixed or even get estimates. The sales associates do not offer any other options to repair the problem unless it is with brand new material. I have spent well over the estimated cost of my vehicle on repairs. I also believe that this establishment takes advantage of the female patron. This isn't the first time I have been in this shop where every male was satisfied and the women waiting for their vehicle were plainly distraught and upset whether it be the cost or the time it takes to finish the fix. I will never go back to this place again despite attempting to be a loyal customer.

When I picked up my truck from the shop, the cruise control and gear indicator were no longer working. I called to let them know of the issue, as both were working before hand. They fixed the problem but told us that it was not their fault---despite the fact that they WERE working prior to services and that they were the only ones working on my truck (they had to lift the motor to work on it). I do not see how this could have been my fault. I have no expertise in mechanical repair nor do I have the equipment to even lift a motor out or even find the wires that were loose/broken.Desired Settlement: I do feel that I have been ripped off by this establishment since it is highly likely THEY were the ones who stripped my oil socket since THEY are the only ones performing the oil changes on my vehicle. It would be nice if they reimbursed my credit card for that particular repair. I had 4-5 oil changes performed at this established before and this was never documented prior to until this current incident.

They should also review their policies and procedures. I felt pushed into having to pay for the repair since they drained my oil and refused to put oil back in it without the fix. As a consumer, I could have gone elsewhere but I did not even have this opportunity.

They need to work on better estimates. They quotes me 8 hours for the initial repair...it turned into almost two days. The manager even was the one who quoted me the time.

Review: On October 3, 2014, I went to Express Tire in Santee, to get an Oil Change and a new battery. That morning I dropped off my vehicle and got a ride home. About 7 hours later I received a call that the work on my vehicle was all done and my vehicle was ready to be picked up. When I got there I paid the balance of $220.00.

On Monday January 5, 2015, I went to get in my truck and it would not start. I thought it was odd due to just getting a new battery. So when I opened my hood, I saw that my battery was all corroded. I thought that was strange so, I pulled out the paperwork and relived that my battery was never changed. On January 5, 2014, I went back to Express Tire and told them the problem. They gave me a new battery. I asked if I could get a free oil change due to the problems this has caused me. That was a hassle just to get that.

My problem is, how do I know if anything was even done to my vehicle.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for everything I paid for. I applied for the Credit Card they offer, and have already paid it off last month. I don't believe anything was done to my vehicle. I will take half for the battery, but I want everything else refunded, so I can go somewhere where I know the work will be complete.

I went to the inspection in the Santee Ca. Location and the Sales man [redacted] said that I needed 700.00 worth of work done on my 2008 Dodge caraven. I told him not to touch the car and that I'd think about it. 3 months later UBER is pressuring me to go to an inspection, so I went to a different Express tire location and this time I Passed the Inspection. I DID'NT GET ANY OF THE RECOMMENDED WORK DONE FROM THE PREVIOUS INSPECTION.

Dear Revdex.com

Review: I purchased a set of Cooper CS4 tires at the Express Tire in Temecula that was rated for 80K Mile Warranty. After checking the tires a couple of days later I noticed that a different type of tire was installed. The tires mounted on our vehicle were Cooper Trendsetters ( a lower quality tire) and was only warranted for 40K miles. I had to bring it back to have the correct tires installed. After some time I noticed that the tires were showing wear on the outside and had to bring it back for an alignment that supposed to be done when I purchased the tires. I am not sure that this was done correctly or if even done.

My tires are now almost bald with only 33K miles on them and Express Tire is refusing to prorate or fix this problem. They are claiming that I failed to keep the alignment done but in fact they were the ones who “supposedly” did the alignment.

In the process of escalating this issue to upper management I had the unfortunate experience in dealing with numerous staff that was unprofessional, no follow through, appalling, illegally misrepresenting, argumentative, refuse to provide information and hung up on me. This was the District Manager who refuses to provide me the VP of Operations contact info. In fact, I had to call the next day and pretend that I wanted to write a letter to the VP to “COMPLIMENT” some of their staff members before I was provided a name and e-mail address. I wrote the VP the letter AND left him a voice and I still have not heard from him to offer any resolution.Desired Settlement: Replace the tires and do the alignment and implement a customer service program.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The response that they "always" offered pro-ration of my tires is absolutely false. I had to go through numerous unprofessional people to get the VP contact information to file my complaint with them directly. It was only then when I was offered a pro-ration with no response to from the VP. When [redacted], contacted me he said that he was going to take care of this problem. I was under the impression he was going to find a solution since I was not happy with what the other reps were offering. When he came down to inspect my tires and offered to prorate my tires I said to him well that is not any better than the other guy offered. His response was "well you should have taken the other offer".

Review: I am dissatisfied with the auto repair service attempt because it was not rectified with the initial diagnostic check performed on August 9th. I also was taken back that the car was not returned in the shape it was received. I am attempted to resolve this problem by providing the documentation of the events; the information provided from your facility; and my requested retribution has been ignored. The shop quoted me a repair, installed parts and informed me my vehicle was running. When I came to pick it up, it was still disassembled, and the technician on hand had no idea what was supposed to be done with it. When I got it back, the battery was dead, the cam shaft had jumped, and the sensors they had taken out were not seated correctly as well as the timing chain.Desired Settlement: Because of the inability to properly repair my vehicle, and the repeated cranking of the vehicle with little to no oil, they caused numerous issues and I would like to compensated for the repairs that had to be performed by another repair shop.

Review: I took my car into Express Tires in National City on May 16th around 2:30pm because the Oil light was on for a day or so. I arrived and was told the diagnostic would be around $100, I denied the request and was told by the assistant that my car was probably just due for an oil change. I agreed to the oil change and left the shop for that hour. I get a call saying the car had a major leak and I needed to repair it as soon as possible. I was told the repair for the leak would be $1200. I denied his offer. He kept going lower and lower of his offer, I was fed up because I didn't want to bargain, I just needed the leak fixed at a reasonable price. The agreement was made at $880. I accepted that offer and proceeded to the cashier, I paid nearly $450 as a down payment and would pay the rest when the car was finished (they estimated around 3pm on May 17th) when I came back the next day the oil light was still on. I told them, they said they would run a diagnostic at no charge. Turns out there was a messed up sensor. We paid $69 for the part and they installed the sensor. when I went to pick the car up I was told the leak on top of the engine was still there but wouldn't be of an extreme issue, I explained I didn't pay for the job to be half done. Because they thought I said I didn't want the top to be fixed, I explained I didn't want the spark plugs to be touched because that's not the issue right now. They associated my comment of not fixing the spark plugs that are on top- with not fixing the leak that they said is still on top of the engine. I was offered to come back in the next 1,000 miles and they would conduct a follow up.Desired Settlement: I would like at least the half of the cost to be refunded because of the leak that is still there and needs to get fixed.

coming on and she had to add 4qts. of oil to her car. We inspected the car and

found major oil leaks coming from the oil pan and timing cover. We recommended

repairing those leaks and she authorized the service. She returned the next day

on 5/18/2015 and still had an oil leak. We re-inspected the concern and found

that the timing cover was leaking which we repaired at no charge and found that

the oil pressure switch was bad and leaking which we diagnosed at no charge and

replace at no charge for labor. We did advise Ms. [redacted] that there were other

minor oil leaks.

Thank you,

Review: My husband and I had a vehicle break down and had it towed to Express Tire since we have been there multiple times for service. Even after attempting to negotiate and calling other service centers for quotes, we were charged $433.20 for diagnostic service and replacement of an alternator for the car. I feel that since we were in a bind with a broken down car that we were taken advantage of on the price. My husband also called back a few days later for a quote and he was quoted under $380 total out the door with tax. This is almost a $50 difference. My husband stated that he had brought our car in a few days before and was charged over $433, they told him they were sorry and that the next time he came in that they would "hook him up." This is unprofessional and dishonest to take advantage of customers in this way. I believe that these representatives also get commission, but they cannot just make up prices as they go along, or charge one person more for the same service since their car is stuck there. We will also be contacting the Bureau of Automotive Repair.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the $60 diagnostic fee, plus an additional $100 for being overcharged on the price of the alternator. I've called multiple vehicle service stations, and checked parts pricing with several distributors, based on their quotes we were greatly over charged for the price of the alternator specifically ($290.00 listed on the bill). For a total of $160.00 refund. I will not accept discounts on future services.

Review: January 16,2013 I went to Express Tire to get my oil changed. They also included a tire rotation at no additional charge. They position you in a waiting area so that you cannot see what they are doing to your vehicle. After they had my vehicole on the rack up in the air and had removed the tires, the manager came to the waiting area and escorted me into the bay to see my vehicle. What they showed me was me looking up from under the vehicle.I saw green radiator fluid coming out across the entire width of the radiator at a volume. They told me that I had to immediately replace this radiator because it was not safe for me to try and drive with the radiator in this condition.I immediately went into shock.I had just driven from 92117 all the way up Fwy 5 to the Carlsbad Premium Outlet mall and back and experienced no over heating or any other sort of problem. I just could not understand how it came to be that my radiator spontaneously had such a serious leakage problem without any previous signs. The manager assured me they would give me a great 50% off deal on all parts and labor, etc.I then called a friend and told him what was happening. I tried to relay his questions to the manager. The manager took the phone from me and walked into the bay so I could not hear what was said. At no time did I sign anything authorizing the repairs. After recently having a pressure test performed on my radiator that Express Tire replaced at exhorbitant pricing I learned there was never anything wrong with my radiator other than what tricks Express Tire did to it. They defrauded me, and overcharged me for a radiator and labor that were not needed. This sort of business practice is deplorable.Desired Settlement: An immediate and full refund with interest and apology.
