Fabuwood Cabinetry Corp Reviews (30)

We bought Fabuwood Hallmark Frost this past April. Several of the cabinets had issues. There were chips in the drawers, nails that were protruding, parts of the dovetail that broke off, peeling paint on the toekick, and there was a footprint inside our pantry where a worker must have stepped on the cabinet before it was completely put together. Well, we can't wash the footprint off because the worker had some kind of concrete on his shoe, and we are still waiting for a drawer to replace the one that has nails popping through. We got some drawer fronts replaced, but ended up choosing the best of the 2 because some of the replacements were worse than the original ones. Needless to say, I would never ever recommend Fabuwood to anyone. The company is difficult to work with. Have to go through the dealer and the dealer is struggling to get the company to respond. The dealer looked at a pair of legs we got for our island and said he could not believe how bad the craftsmanship was if you could call it that. Fabuwood has very very poor quality control and does not stand behind their cabinetry. They take your money and drag their feet hoping you give up and fix the cabinets yourself which we have done with a couple of the drawers.

Buyer Beware: After initially loving Fabuwood's Cabinets and recommending and selling them to many of our Clients, we have had a string of horrible experiences with Fabuwood and their "Distributor," Major Lines. We received 3 kitchen orders in a row that had unacceptable cabinetry and customer service. The cabinets came in chipped, doors cracked, drawer fronts assembled onto the drawer boxes crookedly, non-soft-close glides and non-matching glides from different manufacturers, cabinet boxes assembled unlevelly (which would have made the countertops unlevel), boxes assembled with only the bare minimum of staples, when glue was used on some boxes it seeped out of the seems, a custom modified oven cabinet which was completely broken and fell apart in the delivery truck not once, but twice -- there's much more but too much to list in one review. Even more disappointing than this is that Fabuwood has refused to service these problems for over 9 months now! Their customer service has been non-existent. They've left all of these problems in the hands of who they say is their "California Distributor" who they claim is responsible for dealing with it. We are a professional Kitchen and Bath Company and Dealer. We value our Clients and take our responsibility to provide them with excellent products and services very seriously. We were told by our Vendor Rep (who we believed was hired by Fabuwood) that we were purchasing direct from Fabuwood and that Major Lines was the California warehouse hired by Fabuwood (who is based in New Jersey) to receive and assemble their cabinets since Fabuwood's sales pitch is that they sell fully assembled (and customizable) cabinets. Now Fabuwood is saying that this random warehouse is actually responsible for all of the servicing and they want nothing to do with resolving the problems. We would never have chosen to work with an unvetted warehouse. We vetted Fabuwood and their Rep before carrying their line of cabinets and samples in our showroom and selling them to our valued Clients. Major Lines has ignored most of our calls and texts, sent out shoddy repair people who ruined the cabinets further when they did respond, and delayed their repairs over and over, turning a 2 month kitchen project into a 10 month project, and generally making the problems worse for our Clients. They never did complete the repairs on any of the 3 projects. We've even been sent a fake "Representative" (ostensibly to help fix the problems) and who claimed to work for Fabuwood but did not. This man was then fired by Major Lines after we reported the problems to Fabuwood and Fabuwood has told us the man had worked for them at one point but they fired him and sent him to work for Major Lines who sent him to us. The whole scenario has been a circus! This has been bad for us as a business to have to deal with, but even worse is that our Clients, the homeowners, have had to suffer as it is their kitchens that have been turned upside down, their home that was without a usable kitchen for months while Fabuwood delayed, their fears that they would not receive satisfactory cabinets for which they had paid for! Ultimately, as a professional Kitchen and Bath company with a responsibility to provide our Clients with the beautiful kitchen they expected, we were left to use our own laborers, finishers, installers, and custom manufacturers to finally repair these kitchens for our Clients and provide them with the quality of kitchen cabinets and stain they were expecting. We spent thousands of dollars (and months of time) in repairing Fabuwood's horrible cabinetry. Since then, we've spent months trying to get Fabuwood (and Major Lines) to respond to our concerns. At the very least, even if Fabuwood contends they are not the responsible party (which is not true), Fabuwood should still be holding their "California Distributor" up to a certain level of standard for assembly and customer service. They have not. As the parent company, they have not elicited any help for us from their "Distributor" and they continue to work with and ship to a "Distributor" who clearly has no concern for the quality of cabinetry that leaves their warehouse nor the Dealers they are supposed to be servicing. We've exhausted all forms of communication to resolve these issues and have been left with litigation as our only recourse. To anyone thinking of purchasing from Fabuwood or their "Distributors" (the only way you can purchase from Fabuwood in California), please take our story into account. (some pictures attached).

Review: My entire downstairs from Hurricane Sandy had to be redone. The cabinet maker I hired RVC rockville center ny [redacted] purchased my kitchen cabinets from Fabuwood Cabinentry Corp jersey City NJ. 2of the cabinets above the refrigerator are totally a different color then the panels and the rest of the cabinets.I have been trying for 3 weeks to have someone come over to check them out.I am given an excuse every time, that they emailed their rep and he has not gotten back to them.We leave for Florida for 3 months in December, and I want this issue taken care of.these cabinets were not custom color so there is no problem to match them correctly. The color was ivory . At first they tried to say without even seeing them that's it's the lighting, which of course it's not. Can you please get this problem taken care of for me.Desired Settlement: Replace 2cabinets above the refrigerator with the color to match the rest of the cabinets

Subject: Re: You have a new message from the Revdex.com of New Jersey in regards to your complaint [redacted]

Review: In July 2012 my contractor ([redacted]) remodeled my kitchen using fabuwood cabinets. Approx 6 months (December 2012) after the installation the floor to ceiling cabinet split in 4 places. I contacted my contractor and the cabinet was replaced in July 2013, six months later the cabinet split again. My contractor has contacted fabuwood and they are refusing to replace the defective cabinet. I attempted to contact the cabinet maker myself and they refused to speak with me, refused to give me any names of who to contact telling me that the contractor needs to contact them. My contractor has informed me that they have been trying for 10 months to make them replace the defective cabinet. Obviously the product is defective if the wood splits after only 6 months and they refuse to correct the problem. They are producing a product that is defective in material and/or workmanship and refusing to stand behind the product. In addition, they refuse to speak with the customer or provide any information and they denied having any contact with my contractor.Desired Settlement: I want the cabinet replaced with a cabinet free of defects or I want reimbursement for the cost of the cabinet so I can find another cabinet maker, one who stands behind their product.

To Whom this may Concern, You recently received a complaint from a Fabuwood client regarding a cabinet we declined to replace. The Ms. [redacted] is claiming Fabuwood has reneged on our warranty. Please be aware that Fabuwood does not deal with end users directly. We are a wholesale company and all warranty claims must be made via a Fabuwood dealer. When Ms. [redacted]’s dealer, [redacted], contacted Fabuwood the first time the quality of our merchandise came into question, Fabuwood verified the damage and replaced the product in July of 2013. At the time the Ms. [redacted] filed a second quality complaint, their contractor owed Fabuwood a substantial amount of money. We understand how frustrating it is for Ms. [redacted] to feel as if we are not standing behind our product, but that is far from the case. Since we do not deal with end users directly, for as long as Ms. [redacted]’s contractor has an unpaid balance with Fabuwood, we are not able to service any of their customers. Once [redacted]’s account is in good standing, Fabuwood will be happy to service their end user warranty requests. Please be advised that the contractor in question, [redacted], has done over $140,000 in business with Fabuwood in the last two years and has never once had a quality complaint with our company. We trust that this has clarified the matter. Sincerely, [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: The quality of the cabinet is the issue and its replacement. When this cabinet was first installed it cracked in several places within 6 months after the cabinet was replaced it again cracked in two places within another 6 months which means the merchandise is defective. These people are using defective materials and/or shoddy workmanship. How is it possible they aren't responsible for a cabinet that cracks up after six months. I have no children, the cabinet is a standing kitchen cabinet that should not be cracking for no reason.

Dear Ma'am, We regret that our initial reply didn't satisfy your complaint. As we have explained, since your warranty has already expired,Fabuwood cannot be held responsible for expected signs of wear in ourcabinetry. That being said, should you feel that your issue is amanufacturing defect, we would be happy to review your case and take actionaccordingly. We pride ourselves on quality cabinetry and stand behind our merchandise. However, as previously mentioned, Fabuwood is a wholesaler andmaintains a strict corporate policy of not dealing with end users directly. Weinsist that all business, including warranty claims and manufacturing concerns,be conducted via an authorized Fabuwood dealer. While Fabuwood will stand behind defective merchandise, theclaims process must be initiated by your contractor. We suggest you contact thedealer you got the kitchen from, and encourage them to file a claim withFabuwood. Once they file your claim via the proper channels, we will be morethan happy to help you in any way we can. Thank you,[redacted]

Review: My contractor ordered Fabuwood cabinets for me when they arrived there were many problems including: missing cabinets, dents, chips, and drawers that that do not work. The contractor called the rep [redacted] several times and the company several times. It took almost six weeks for the new delivery when they came they were the wrong color. Again with the phone calls the contractor called last Friday and it is now Wednesday and still the supervision hasn't called back. I have been without a kitchen now for about

2 months now with no end in sight.Desired Settlement: An apology. And a rush ( not another 4 to 6 weeks) delivery of cabinets in good condition.

December 3, 2014 To Whom This May Concern: You recently received a complaint regarding Fabuwood cabinetspurchased 18 months ago that were finished in two different colors. Please be aware that Fabuwood does not deal directly withend users. We are a wholesale company, and all claims must be made via aFabuwood dealer. We received this complaint from the dealer on November 18,2014. We responded promptly by sending a finisher directly to the site to refinishthe cabinets in one uniform color. The homeowner refused our offer, statingthat he can’t have work done on the kitchen at this time, as he is selling thehouse and will be closing this Friday, December 5. We advised the homeowner towait until the sale is complete, after which time the dealer should becontacted by the new owner to make arrangements for the refinishing to takeplace. We trust that this has satisfactorily clarified the matter. Sincerely, [redacted]

Review: The company I worked for was a dealer for Fabuwood and I ordered kitchen cabinets for my home. Upon installation of the cabinets we realized that one (1) of the items was not included in my order. We also realized that the color that is advertised on their website was not what I received. I contacted the inside salesman, [redacted], who had been handling my order and he proceeded to tell me what I needed to do. He said I should 1) fill out an RMA for which he emailed to me; and 2) hold off on ordering the missing cabinet to make sure I would receive the correct color. I did what he said. After 2 days of no response I emailed to ask what the status was. I was told that this needed to be taken care of by [redacted]. I emailed him and his reply was that my company's account was no longer active and he could not do anything for me. He said I should speak to the outside sales rep, [redacted], who finally after 2 days returned my call. He also proceeded to tell me he could not do anything for me. I feel this is a total disgrace. They did not seem to have a problem when they collected my $2500 for the original order. The salesman did not have a problem earning a commission on an order that he did not even touch. I just want to complete my renovation but cannot because I am missing a cabinet. He told me to go to one of their dealers and order it.Desired Settlement: I want the missing cabinet and do not feel that I should pay full price if any amount at all for this.

December 15, 2014To Whom This May Concern:You recently received

a complaint regarding Fabuwood cabinets purchased through a Fabuwood dealer

that is no longer a dealer of ours. Please be aware that Fabuwood does not deal directly with

end-users. We are a wholesale company, and all claims must be made via a

Fabuwood dealer. The item the end-user claims has been missing was not on the

order, therefor the end-user can order it through a Fabuwood dealer. We will be

more than happy to help this end-user to find a dealer in their area that can

help them place a new order for the item which was missed. As for the color issue, we sell all the product through a door

we had provided to the dealer, and this is the exact color that we sell now to

hundreds of other dealers. We trust that this has satisfactorily clarified the matter. Sincerely, [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: I ordered my cabinets, the NexusFrost line by Fabuwood from one of their distributors, NJ Cabinet on Feb 12. When the cabinets arrived, two were busted, the pantry and the 36in cooktop base cabinet, and had to be replaced, a microwave drawer and dishwasher panel were missing, and the glass doors were wrong. In addition, many doors were damaged, chiped, or paint unfinished. After several weeks, I received two of the busted units. However, I was still missing componets and had warped doors, defective panels and drawers/doors. After escalating through the cabinet company and manufacture, on April 2, [redacted] from Fabuwood came to my home to see all the issues I was having with the cabinets as well as the missing componets. He agreed that there were worksmanship and quality issues with many doors and would follow up on missing items. A couple days later he told me I would have the dishwasher panel in a few days and the balance after Passover which was over 2 months ago. I finally received most of the damaged components...several doors and panel. The microwave drawer was the wrong size and havent received my glass doors. I have spoken and exchanged emails with [redacted] numberous times and even today he said it will be at least another week and half till I get the drawer, as they have to make the correct size.

The Nexus Frost Cabinets are very poorly made, and doesnt seem to be any quality control. The time it takes to get items is beyond horrible. And I still have an unfinished kitchen over 4 months later. I have been beyond patient in trying to get my kitchen competed. While I appreciate that [redacted] has been involved, the bottom line is my kitchen is still unfinished from a material perspective. .

The Nexus Frost is a new line for Fabuwood, and I believe product quality and service has serious issues. Even one of the replacement panels came cracked. I have many emails & pictures of what has transpired. While they look nice, the quality is not good.Desired Settlement: At this point, I need my kitchen done. And I cant have it done until I have all my items. Today, [redacted] said another week an half on the microwave drawer. Still no word on my glass doors. Furthermore, I think prospective clients should know how bad the workmenship and quality is on these cabinets and the run around that they can anticpate if something is damaged or doesnt arrive. While these cabinets came from a stock company, these cabinets are not inexpensive. I paid over $10k for just the cabinets. I have great concerns about the ability of these cabinets to last. I believe the warranty is 5 years..not 100% sure. It is beyond ridiculous to me that I am waiting 4 1/2 months on items that typically take 2-3 week for an entire kitchen.
