Family Movers Express Reviews (42)

[redacted] and [redacted] moved my furniture from public storage in Knightdale to our new home in Raleigh. 10x15 unit finished in 4 hrs flat. These guys were great. I will be using them again

Do not hire this company. They lure you in with the best hourly rate. BUT, they have no idea what they are doing. A move that should have taken no more than 6 hours took almost 10. They didn't get everthung in the truck because they were not packing to the ceiling, then spent about 2 hours near the end of loading to try to rearrange what they had already loaded. I just forget it, I will move the rest myself. Had to make about 10 trips in my pick up to finish. They unloaded fairly quickly but because I had them back the truck up to the front door and put the ramp into my foyer. Several small scratches and dents which I expected. However. A couple weeks after the move I noticed one of the feet on television cabinet was missing. I looked everywhere for the foot. Underneath, the entire wood bracing had been busted off. There is NO WAY that I would not have noticed that laying in my front door or driveway. The movers purposefully hid that from me and disgarded the foot. There is no way to replace it. Called [redacted] and he said it might be in their lost and found. I knew I would not get a call back because that means they would have had to admit it was their fault. BAD movers, unethical business practices.l. Hire a more reputable company that has experienced staff, may cost a bit more by the hour, but will cost you less in the long run. You get what you pay for.

Family Movers has failed to provide clear justification of the charges. The receipts are illegible and they cannot account for the time spent.I have reached out numerous times without response. They have provided me receipts from my move but cannot answer simple questions regarding the total hours billed and what caused additional time forcing an increased rate of overtime that was not indicated upfront.Facts:1)I contracted Family Movers to assist in a move from a Durham NC location to their storage facility on June 9. The total for this was $1022.792)I contracted the delivery of the items from the storage facility to [redacted] ct [redacted] Hill on June 29. The total for this was $1312.103)The crew left the Raleigh facility at 11, but did not arrive at my location until after 1:30.4)There was no indication of time spent for lunch.5)I was 'informed' that I was given a 45 minute discount because the crew's GPS was malfunctioning. It is unclear to me as to why the second price is substantially higher despite the difference in distance being less then 15 miles. It is unclear how the 45 minute discount was applied. It is unclear why the discount was only 45 minutes when the travel time should have been less than an hour, but took 2.5 hours. 2.5 - .75 = 1.75. The discount should have been 1.5 hours. Below is my latest correspondence that was not answered. "He sent me the statement that appears to have the following:* travel time: 1hr@ 129/hr* Regular hours: 8hr @ 129/hr* Overtime hours: 1.75hr @ 193.5hr(discounted 45 minutes due to GPS)Question 1: how did this total $1,312.10?Question 2: Was the 45min discount applied to regular hours or overtime hours?Question 3: How is it your team began loading the truck at 8:00 am but did not arrive at my location [redacted] XXXXX) until after 1:30? - Google maps indicates it is 32 miles or 38 minutes from your location at [redacted] - I was initially told my delivery would be early on the 30th and if I wasn't ready to receive the delivery by 9:00 am, I would have to wait until after the holiday. Because of this I made arrangements to have my wife wait at the house for your truck. She did not plan on spending the entire morning waiting, which was why I had contacted Geo several times in the morning to understand the status of the delivery crew. This is how I know they left your location at 11:00, but didn't arrive at my location until after 1:30. Additionally, it is rather confusing to me how it took them 3 hours to load the truck when all of the items were 'ready to load' and in a single location. It took them lees time at my new location which included walking to various room in the house and unwrapping. Question 4: When you picked up my belongings, which included wrapping and padding, from various rooms in my house [redacted] Ln XXXXX), the total was $1,022.79. How is it that the delivery was substantially higher? - Google maps indicates it is 27 miles or 32 minutes from your location at [redacted]As I mentioned to Geo, my experience with your crew was very positive. I really do feel that you are a good company and and have made an honest mistake, or I am just misinterpreting your charges with the limited information I was provided. I would greatly appreciate it if you would review my case and please explain to me the charges as they stand. Please provide me a number by which I can contact you directly. OR please call me to provide this explanation. All I really want is a better explanation of these charges and an understanding that this is accurate. "I have repeatedly asked for a legible account of how I was billed and where the justification of the charges exists. They have yet to address these questions. Additionally, one of my pieces of furniture has been damaged as a result of the move. Family Movers has issued a letter to me offering the agreed upon amount of $90 for this item. This statement indicates that all open matters involving my move are closed. I do not wish to sign that statement until I am satisfied withDesired SettlementI feel that I have been taken advantage of in the manner of being over-billed in numerous areas during this move (loading of the truck, unaccountable travel times, and misled billing statements).Family moves should have charged me for 7 hours of service and 1 additional hour for return travel. Totaling 8 hours. Family movers should also cover the insured costs of the broken furniture item. 7 x 129.00 = 903.00+ 1 X 129.00 = 129.001032.001312.10 - 1032.00 = 280.10280.10 + 90 = 370.10I would like a refund of $370.10 (less tax adjustments) for the difference in unaccounted hours and damage to my furniture. I would also like a clearly written statement that indicates the charges, insurance claim, taxes, etc. Business Response As we explained before, moving in storage was about 20 miles away. Moving out of storage was about 40 miles away. Move out was 8am-4:45pm, plus 1 hr drive, total of 9.75 hrs.8 hrs x $129 = 1032.001.75 hrs x $193.50 = 338.63Grand total move out is $1370.63Customer paid 1312.10.Claimed damage of an item weighing 150 lbs.Based on the standard liability he chose (60 cents per pound)he was offered $90.00 which he did not accept.Consumer Response My questions are still outstanding. I do not have any account for the unjustified hours. I hired you to move my belongings from point A to point B. - There is no possible way that it took 3 hours to load the truck. - There is no possible way it took 2.5 hours to travel 40 miles (as you claim - 32 miles according to google maps). Both of these charges are severely rounded up. I would like to know what other activities the crew was doing during the times I was billed and have that time removed from my bill. - They likely took a lunch break- They likely assisted another client move their items- They likely got lost due to a malfunctioning GPSFinal Business Response all charges have been explained in detail in the previous message. All tis is based on the customers assumptions. If customer was so suspicious abut what we do he could have come, and watch the guys, load, and drive to his house. He did not. He is assuming, a number of things. As per moving regulations, $90.00 is our liability per the documents he submitted. That was our highest and best offer

Thank you for moving to Atlanta. The guys were great, most importantly there was no damage. Thank you.

[redacted] and [redacted] moved me to Cherry Hill NJ, from Raleigh. I wanted to let you know the items were handled cautiously, , we had no damage, and we were very please with the outcome. We have already recommended you to our neighbors

Prepaid a service that was supposed to be completed on Saturday. On Sunday the job was still incomplete and the delivery men abandoned the job. I hired a moving company to move us from [redacted] North Carolina to [redacted] North Carolina after my husband's deployment. We agreed deal was to move me on July 23rd at the cost of $1,500. The job was not completed on Saturday July 23rd nor was it completed on Sunday July 24th and somehow I was still charged in addition to $1,500 a total of $1,640. I witnessed the delivery man adding additional information to my recently signed paperwork and I asked questions of the delivery man on site for a breakdown of charges, a copy of paperwork and a receipt but I was denied one and was referred to their corporate office. The job was still incomplete and the delivery men abandoned their work. There are Hardware items and tools missing that were not part of their delivery or inventory from the 1st sited apartment. We ended up doing work we paid for ourselves at 0300 in the morning on Sunday July 24th just so we had somewhere to sleep before we needed tö head out of town at 0700 for 10 days. We are very upset and displeased with the service of this moving company. While traveling I have been trying to contact corporate office of the moving company however I am unable to reach anyone to get information on filing a formal complaint. It is unfortunate that when we return myself and [redacted] will have to finish the incomplete work ourselves something we obviously avoided doing which is the reason why we hired Family Express Movers. The team was very unprofessional and took 16 hours to still end up abandoning their work. They constantly argued amongst themselves in front of us, they took frequent breaks to talk on their on their cell phones and even discussed with us how much money they were going to receive for this job in disappointment. I would never recommend this company Family Express Movers to anyone and I would make sure that my circle in the military Community knows what happened to us and that they I only use them if they want a bad experience.Desired SettlementI would like an explanation of all charges. I asked for one at time of service and was refused a copy. I also want specific charges removed from bill because the work was incomplete and services were not rendered as promised.Business Response The crew worked until 1:30am.We have sent a claim form to the customer and are waiting that to be returned, as per moving regulations.

We just finished our move in chapel hill. We had [redacted] and [redacted].
They came prepared with all the tools, and blankets as promised. We did have a piano that we thought would give the movers a hard time. We were wrong. They moved our piano

a move was to be performed on 3/7/16 with 3 movers. the move took almost 12 hours and did not receive the services quoted or expected. poor qualityon 3/7/16 I was to move approximately 30 miles from [redacted] to [redacted]. from a 3 BR house with garage to 4 BR 2 story home. it was expressed that I would have 3 men after being offered. The company showed up approx. 30 mins. late with 2 movers. After calling before the movers started the owner said it 3 movers was not happening as it was sunday and no one was available(misleading). the crew was not experienced from my knowledge and experience. they took almost 8 hours to pack up the house into the truck. all loose items were in boxes or totes and only big things(bed, couch, dresser, bookshelf, tv stand, safe, dining table, washer, dryer) were out to be put in the truck. I spoke with one mover before taking a load of garden things and personal items in my own vehicle (to help) and they stated they would be 30 to 45 mins behind me. That was at 245. they did not show up until after 600. (misleading and wasted time). My strong belief was they began to take their time and slow down (wasting valuable time) as my wife was there with them and was cleaning the home. It was very unprofessional and un called for. When they arrived I was not here because their timing was wrong and my children had not eaten since lunch. I finally met them and was demanded to pay over $1300. When I originally asked the owner I was told 8 hours tops.I asked the movers as well they also told me no more than 8. I was charged for 12 hours. 8 at 89.00 and the overtime charge of 139 for 4.5 hours. I was very disturbed and called the owner immediately and expressed my concern and they would not unload until payment was received. he would not even consider my concerns and said I was lucky they were estimating the 4.5 hours unload time. I also brought up the 3rd person and he again reiterated the day and he had no one available. So I was stuck with my belongings on this truck. the owner told me that he would check to see if he told me the overtime rate which I did not recall him telling me. if he did not express it, he would refund after the fact. I paid the price, really concerned and expressive of my opinion to the movers. They told me that this was the 3rd time this had happened to the movers that week. their hands were tied. I had to go back and pick up my wife from the old residence and I expressed where each room was and the boxes that they took from the persons room should be put back in the same room. I get back to the old residence and they left a whole patio with bbq, outside furniture and fixtures. (i had to haul myself at midnight). When we returned at 930, our entire garage was filled with boxes and all our belongings. Inside the house was only the couch in pieces, the dining table, a dresser upstairs, a heavy piece of MDF board for our platform bed and bookshelf. THAT IS ALL! this was not why we hired movers!! they were to put the belongings where they got them from and thats the majority of why you pay for help. They left the couch legs and we had to bring them from the old house and our dining room screws to put it together, were not returned for a whole week. (we had to eat on the floor for several days). the furniture all has damage and boxes were turned upside down and dropped, our walls were damaged due to carelessness. the workers were very fatigued and exhausted and were barely able to function before leaving. I did not sign the form agreeing to all the acceptable terms after the move was complete. I only signed initial top sheet explaining what they were responsible for and the rate and arrival time. I was not pleased whatsoever and all of our furniture has knicks, dings, scratches, marks, shreds in almost every piece they handled. The owner never offered any refund or advice and just referred me to their insurance company for any claims filed. This is horrible business practices, service and this experience creates a bad taste in our mouth. Not to mention the job was not done properly. SAD!Desired Settlementi want to be refunded not only for the services I paid for but did not receive, I also want to be reimbursed for the damages done to several items and also repairs done to the damage done to our brand new walls. I would agree to paying half of what I was charged because they did pack and unpack but I had to make three loads myself of things that they did not take or was loose and harder to have them pack in the truck. also, the whole experience I felt was bad once they were there. I was deceived and taken from. they used me and our time and we ended up paying for it in the long run. I was given quotes for much less than what I paid and only used them because the owner expressed their abilities to be efficient and competent and hard working. I would like for their rating to be re evaluated with Revdex.com. I also own a business and I would be shamed by the community if I acted in the manner in which this happened. We are still unpacking things form the garage, die to the sheer amount of things that were stacked and out throughout. my wife literally cried and we ate off the floor and slept on the floor because nothing was put together. (even things they took apart for better transport). so return half the money paid, reimbursed for damages done at the fair market value pricing, re evaluated by Revdex.com for the true reflection of what they do on a consistent basis according to his employees or contractors. Business Response Mr. [redacted] was booked over the phone on 2/16 for a move on 3/6. The rate was 2 men at 89/hr. The day before the move we confirmed everything as we normally do with every customer. During the move Mr. [redacted] decided to leave and left his wife and kids with the movers. Our crew started at 10:15am, filled a whole truck and did not finish till 10:45pm. During the move, and according to the crew one of the family members told the movers that during their previous move they had 5 guys. Before unloading Mr. [redacted] was questioning the overtime charges which were $1379.50 until 10:15pm, and that he only had budgteted for $1000.00. I asked if the workers had stopped working at any point. He said no. It was just a matter of taking longer than HE had expected. I told him we had already gone over the rates and overtime on the phone, movers are clearly working, contract was clearly showing rates and overtime, and $1379.50 was due and would cover work till 10:15pm. He did pay, we started unloading, and worked until 10:45pm. The fact there was still more furniture in the previous house, shows there was more than a truck load. Since the movers never moved he didn't pay for that time, so a refund is out of the question. After the move he requested proof that I told him that overtime applies after 8 hours. I provided the recorded conversation where I explained the rates and overtime. I also provided copies of his paperwork showing the rates and his signature. I also sent a claim form for any damages that may have occurred. We never received anything back besides the request for paperwork and the Revdex.com complaint. At this time 10:15pm-10:45pm (30 minutes overtime, $66.75), is still unpaid and is due with the claim form if damages are claimed.

Great workers. I had [redacted] and [redacted] move me locally. The move lasted about 5 hours. No problems, no damage. Can t complain besides the fact that I hate moving.

We needed to move my Grandfather into another home and decided to use these guys who came highly recommended by the new management. I did price them against the movers I used back in April (I won't name them, but you can find them in my reviews), and Family Movers were $1000 cheaper in the end than the other estimate!!!!
I talked to [redacted] on the phone and he was polite and made the process super easy. He told me it was a flat rate no matter what they do, i.e. packing, moving, more than one location, etc. Also, he told me it didn't cost extra for packing material or there weren't any hidden fees. He was right! So nice to have honesty in a business.
The day of the move, the guys showed up on time with positive, professional attitudes. [redacted] was the lead and [redacted] was new, and both were very polite to my Grandpa.
We had to change a few things and move things around, and they never once complained or showed impatience.
The best part was amazing service at that price!!! I will actually use these guys for myself the next time I plan to move.
Thanks for the great service!!!

This is one of those companies that you just cannot trust. When I was quoted a price for the service, the final price was 2 times as much. When moving day came, the truck was 4 hours late in arriving. I called several times to be certain they were coming, the owner kept stating they were on their way. A 45 minute trip. You cannot believe anything the owner say's. Pick a different mover.

The company did not acknowledge that I provided a $250 certified check for payment and charged more money. Moving service broke items and lost items.Family Movers lost the following items while moving us. Large white ceramic antique plant pot.The movers broke the large mirror. All three workers from Family Movers were disorganized. When the workers took the legs off of the sleeper/sofa, the legs were left at the old home and moved by the owner instead of the movers. While disassembly occurred, mover placed items on the walls instead of lying them down on the floor which is safer and prevents scraping the walls. The workers damaged the hallway walls while moving. The worker explained that he would send pictures of the damage to the manager so that a claim could be submitted.Prior to arrival, the workers explained that the job would take much less time if they could bring a third man to help. The workers started at 9:45am and finished @6p. This job should have only taken approximately 4 hours. When the workers arrived, they explained to me that their company wraps all items in order to protect furniture. They wrapped mattresses in plastic. He did not tell me that the wrap would cost $7.95 per item until I questioned him about how much longer will it take to get the items into the truck since it was already 1pm and not even half of the items were on the truck yet and using 3 men.The workers were not strong enough to pick up items that I was able to pick up and did not need to use the dolly for transporting. The worker were supposed to be equipped with tools for disassembly and assembly; however, they were not equipped. The workers used my tools and explained that their tools are not sufficient. The workers explained that if they didn't need to reassemble beds then the time would be decreased substantially and that I would save money. I explained to the worker that having to hire another person to reassemble beds that they took apart is unacceptable and would not save time or money for me. He requested the help of myself self and the help of our 14 year old boy who was helping me to move the smaller items from my house to my car. He also requested that I help hold the rails while he make adjustments to the bed. It is unacceptable for 3 men to be working together and not be able to help each other reassemble a queen sized bed with few screws. It took @ 20 minutes for the worker to reassemble the bed. Reassemblining the beds took less time than most of the moving that had been done.I suggested that the works have 1 person on on level of stairs and the other two can work the first level in order to speed up the process since this is what worked while my family and I brought boxes into the apartment all week. The workers advised that they thought it would be best that they all walk both fights of steps instead. This decision could only be made by the inexperienced mover. When the workers arrived from lunch they explained that they would take 30 minutes off of the time I would pay them for their lunch 1 hour lunch. Then manager did not include the $250 certified check that was paid to the company on the receipt. No one has acknowledged that the money was paid to the moverI would not recommend anyone to use Family Movers Express for any moving needs.I wrote the company the below:I noticed that the receipt does not include the $250 Certified Check that was given to me by [redacted] The receipt only references $867.50 that was paid via MasterCard by [redacted] L. [redacted]. Please confirm that you received the additional $250 Certified Check. Also, please provide a receipt for the $250 to me. The complaints in my letter above that the carpet at the top of the staircase was left with dirt spots after the workers completed the move. There was no type of plastic or coverings for the carpet prior to moving items. I also forgot to include that [redacted] informed me that the three workers [redacted] (or [redacted]) and the other guy was from [redacted] will be starting a business and could move us for less money. I'm requesting someone check this companDesired SettlementI would like to receive my $250 back since the move only cost $867.50. The other $250 was taken by the movers and not added to my payment. I would also like a refund for the additional 4 hours that the movers took to move us. I would like re-imbursement for losing/breaking my vase which had alot of sentimental and expensive value. I would like reimbursement for my broken mirror. The only thing the company has done to attempt to make this right was fix the walls in the house that the movers damaged. That was not enough for all the other damage that the movers completed. Business Response The move took place on 6/22. The customer filed a claim for wall damage and a 35 lb item. The walls were repaired by our painter at our expense, and confirmed by the customer in writing. Based on moving regulations and the standard liability the customer chose before the move(60 CENTS PER POUND), our liability is $21.00. That offer was sent on 7/15/16, but was never returned.Consumer Response The answer provided by the company does not address the fact that the $250 check that was given was not paid and not accounted for in my receipt. Furthermore, the company makes not that the $21.00 was offered; however, it was never paid. The response from the company does not address the true issues of the complaint. Final Business Response A complete accounting of charges including the $250 certified check paid by her realtor, have already been provided. Total charges were $1117.50.She paid 867.50, and her realtor paid $250.00

Fast growing business entity with maximum customer support.

These guys were great. Moved me today locally in Chapel Hill from one home to another about 15 minutes away. They seems they knew what to do from the first minute. My Piano was moved carefully and easily. I ll be using them again

I received a quote before our move. During the move when the business had all of our items, he doubled the price and would not return our items. We searched out this business and talked to them about an estimate in regards for our move. My wife specifically asked for an estimate of the time and the cost of the move itself. We were given an estimate of approximately two hours of work and $300 dollars as the expense. This was our main factor in choosing this company. My wife wrote down the quote, but she only received a verbal confirmation from the man she talked to who was named [redacted]. Things seemed to be going smoothly on the date of the move, June 1, 2014. We began to notice that it was taking longer than we expected. [redacted] called to check-in and my wife voiced this concern. He made no comment in regards to the price or what we would be expecting to pay now. The movers started loading around 8:15 am, and finished and arrived at the new location at 12:15pm. I arrived at 12:45 and found that [redacted] had moved the price up to $750 dollars. He required us to pay the full amount before the workers would unload the truck, despite him estimating the rest of the job would take three hours. The workers themselves admitted that it would not take three hours to unload the truck. My wife, my mother-in-law, and myself all talked to [redacted], reminding of him the quote he had given us. He denied ever giving this quote to my wife. The call was dropped in the middle of our conversation, and when we got back in touch with him, he informed us that he had the police on the line if he needed it and told his workers to close the truck; we would not be getting our things back until we paid the amount. We discussed the matter further, and we told him that we had chosen his company solely based on the price we were given in his quote. He said he would be willing to accept $650. We told him of our difficult financial situation, but he was not willing to budge. We were forced to pay an amount double of what we were quoted. In addition to this, we were helping the movers with approximately 50% of the work. We moved almost all of our items into one room to help them with the loading process, and brought some of the items outside ourselves. At the new location, myself, my mother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law were forced to aid the movers in meeting a timely deadline if we were to pay only $650 dollars.Desired SettlementWe would like our original price of $300 dollars to honored. We understand that this was only an approximation, but [redacted] gave us a quote based on the information my wife gave about our apartment and moving location. The business' website even states that they give quotes based on this information. [redacted] denied he ever gave anyone a quote and said he had no idea how long the move would take. We don't find this plausible as the two statements from my wife and himself are so different. We felt strong-armed and taken advantage of when he threatened to call the police and hold our possessions. We truly felt taken advantage of, and this affected my wife gravely for almost an hour. She had to lay down, cease from helping, and rest due to the emotional trauma of the incident.Business Response /[redacted]/Mrs [redacted] handled the entire process from the beginning. She was never told 2 hours for the move. We explained we do not know how long a move takes unless we see it in person. One day before the move we called Mrs [redacted] to confirm. During the confirmation call she asked "so will the move take 2 hours". Again it was explained we do not know how long the move will take. The confirmation call has also been recorded. On the day of the move and after loading from 8:15 to 12:15, we arrived at the destination at 12:45. Then Mrs [redacted] asked why is it not only 2 hours and it s $750.00. We explained again nobody promised or gave a 2 hour estimate cause we never saw the property. She was reminded that SHE tried to say 2 hours during the confirmation call.We were estimating 2:45pm finish, which makes it a total of 7.5 hrs including the one hour additional drive time.At that point, the mother in law, and Mr. [redacted] took over the conversation, and since they were never on the phone previously they didn t know what was discussed with Mrs [redacted] during booking, during confirmation, what was signed on the day of the move, the additional drive time that applies, the fact we need payment before we unload etc. We had to explain everything again to Mr. [redacted]. It was now past 1pm, and some items had already been taken out of the truck, but since payment was being refused we had to stop. Mr. [redacted] said they could only afford to pay $650.00. We collected the $650.00 and started unloading. From the complaint filed we now know that the customer and his relatives unloaded the truck without authorization from us to step into our truck or touch anything. Customers are not allowed on our truck for liability and damage reasons and that is clearly stated on the paperwork Mrs. [redacted] signed that morning. Even though the actual finish time was after 3pm, no additional money was requested from Mr. [redacted]. If Mr. [redacted] can produce a written estimate he was given by our company for 2 hrs, we'll be happy to honor it. In fact if there is an estimate for 2 hours we are willing to refund the entire $650.00. $100.00 is still owed.Consumer Response /[redacted]/We unloaded the truck only after asking the workers if this was allowed. Both said that this was perfectly fine, that we could help. We did not demand this or step on without permission. We asked the two men who were unloading if this was generally allowed. Both said that it was fine, and we had no idea this was not allowed. In regards to the $100 dollars that is owed, when talking on the phone with the businessman, he agreed that he could drop down to $650, and we payed this amount. In addition, the workers finished not after three but at 2:21pm. That is when they left our home, and we settled in for the day. Final Business Response /[redacted]/The $50 is offered from us in addition to the $100 we have not collected. If final acceptance is communicated to the Revdex.com, we will be mailing a form that needs to be signed before issuing the $50 check. The paperwork was previously emailed per customers request, but another copy will be sent by regular mail too.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/My wife and I are willing to accept this proposal, but before we do we feel we need clarification. The wording and phrasing used in the last response seems vague to us. We understand the $100 is being waived, but which party will be offering the $50? We are unsure if this is still part of the bill on our part or if this is the company offering us this amount. As previously stated, we are not turning down this offer, but we would like further clarification before we accept.

Great movers and lowest cost! The move team of [redacted] and [redacted] were professional, courteous, and hard working. They wrapped all of our wood and leather pieces and even the grandfather clock arrived without a scratch, chip, or dent.

I just want to post a public service announcement to warn people against hiring this company for your move. This company has horrible business ethics, unprofessional employees, and uses scare tactics/threats to collect astronomical prices. The owner also demonstrated no respect for women, as he was demeaning to me (a female) and my mother in law. I could never in good faith recommend this company to anyone. Ever.

I had [redacted] and [redacted] move me to Ocala FL. We had them come in and pack the kitchen and clothes and everything was delivered today. Everything was unloaded , unpacked, our clothes were put in the closets and boxes were hauled away. We are happy with the service and would definitely use this company again.

The company is refusing to credit back an agreed upon refund, and lost one of the boxes during the move.I hired family movers the week of July 20th. I scheduled a move for July 31st, and then changed the date to July 28th at an unspecified time. I contacted the company July 27th because I didn't have a move time, as they failed to call. They told me that my move time would be after one, as they expected to complete their prior move around 12 Noon. They arrived at my apartment at 2:23 PM, and began the move 2:30 PM. The movers did not have tools, so they had to borrow my to disassemble the bed and dresser. At that time, they began moving the furniture and boxes. No inventory was taken at any point during the move. During the move, I asked them to shrink wrap my sofa cushions as they had just been dry cleaned. I then asked for the boxes I requested from the truck, and was told they had no boxes on the truck although [redacted] told me they would in case I needed them. At that point, I requested 2 large boxes, AGAIN. Someone from the warehouse drove to my location to drop off the boxes, but only came with small boxes and wardrobe boxes which was not what I requested which forced me to use additional boxes as opposed to the two I requested. We then completed the move at the location. When we arrived at my new address, I was told the total for the move was $560. I told them the 4 hour move should only be approximately $400 plus taxes. They said the truck couldn't be unloaded until the balance was paid. They said, they charged my extra for shrink wrapping my sofa cushions and boxes. I then signed the paperwork, and asked to speak to the owner [redacted] because I did not agree with the charges. While speaking with [redacted], I explained to him that shrink wrapping, blankets, etc. cannot be considered additional charges as they are part to moving materials. [redacted] claimed it was standard business packing however the mover told me that customers consistently take issue with this additional charge yet [redacted] continues to fail to disclose the additional cost of shrink wrapping. I then called [redacted] back, and told him I didn't sign any contract indicating my approval of additional charges, at which point he conceded and agreed to give me a $71 refund. Once the move was completed, the movers than indicated the after the refund my balance was $511. However, upon checking my account on 7/30/15, I saw $560 was charged and called [redacted]. He then backtracked and said he only issued a refund for $21 because the movers did not complete the move by their estimated time. However, I never signed any paperwork for the final amount once the refund was issued. The last conversation we had about the payment on my move date was $511. In addition, a box from my kitchen was missing, and [redacted] said he would talk to the "warehouse manager" about boxes being left on the truck, then return my call, but he has not. The entire ordeal was extremely unprofessional, and [redacted] attempted to continue adding on charges that were not listed in the contract, or stated in the quote.Desired SettlementI would like the correct refund I was given credited to my account, and a refund credited for my missing box. Business Response /[redacted]/The refund was credited as requested by the customerConsumer Response /[redacted]/The business refunded me the agreed upon credit. The complaint is resolved.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/
