Ferguson General Contracting Reviews (24)

Review: I am bringing this complaint to the attention of the Revdex.com because the terms of my contract with F[redacted] General Contracting have been violated. On August 5th, 2015, I signed an agreement with Mr. Ryan F[redacted], which stated that all of the work in my house at [redacted] that I am hiring him to do will be done by October 30th, 2015. It is January 11th, 2016 and not even 10% of the work has been completed. We have been in constant contact with Mr. F[redacted] and he has told us multiple times that the work will be completed by a “so-and-so” date but that has always been false. I paid $29,209, 50% of our total contract price, on the signing day of the contract, August 5th, 2015. 40% was due upon final inspection; however, in the middle of October, Mr. F[redacted] told me that he could not complete any of our work without me paying him the second check ahead of schedule, and I agreed to his demand, paying him another $13,750 on October 22nd, 2015. Still, no work was completed. On Thursday, December 3rd, Mr. F[redacted] sent a text message saying that the work will be completed by December 21st, or I will receive a complete refund, in addition to mortgage payments. I have had to pay mortgage payments for my house but have been unable to live there because of Mr. F[redacted]’s failure to complete his work. On November 10th. 2015, Mr. F[redacted] stated that the materials (tiles, bathroom selections, etc.) will be delivered the next day. They have not arrived till this day. On December 22nd, 2015 Mr. F[redacted] said that he would be done with the work by January 8th, 2016. We contacted him and he asked for a meeting; when we told him our availability, he never responded. We have not heard from him since, so we decided it is time to take action.Desired Settlement: Since Mr. Ryan F[redacted] has not fulfilled the contract’s terms, and we have already given him two and a half months of extra time based on his false promises multiple times, which we have proof of in our text message communication with him, we are requesting a complete refund as well as a reimbursement of our mortgage payments for three months, as we have suffered much inconvenience.

Response:

I am sorry to hear of this complaint and will try to address it as accurately as possible. I was first contacted about this job by Mrs. [redacted] and her daughter. There were a lot of negotiations that took place between the original bid and what ended up being in the scope of work on the executed contract. Multiple revisions were made to such documents which included changes to the scope of work, payment schedule, allowances, etc. When we finally agreed to terms, I then met Mr. [redacted] for the first time and we executed the contract. Once we started the work, we soon discovered items that were specifically qualified in the scope of work were different from what they expected. An example is "Install new plumbing for (1) toilet, (1) 3'x5' shower, and (1) bath vanity" and "Install tile shower surrounds in (2) bathrooms above tub and incorporate homeowner provided tile mural”. Mrs. [redacted] pointed out that she wanted us to demo the (2) existing tubs and change them into showers, as well as change an additional tub/shower in the basement to a shower. At this point, it was obvious that there were many communication errors, and I contacted Mr. [redacted] because I wanted to get everyone on the same page. Per a phone conversation, I explained to him that after reviewing the contract, I would agree to changing some of the items in the scope of work to try and satisfy their requests. I also noted that the payment schedule needed to be changed in order to make this happen, because I would be ordering new materials, etc. I did not demand money, nor did I ever say I couldn’t move forward without it, and the additional funds that we agreed upon came out of the original contract amount. To reiterate, this was NOT a demand for extra money; it was simply a compromise in the payment schedule to try and accommodate their bathroom requests. We have had communication issues throughout most of this project but I feel that I have always been flexible working with the client. I understood that the project was taking longer than expected and even offered to discount some items to help cover the additional costs the client was incurring due to the delays. I do not, however, feel it is fair that a complaint was filed, as many of the delays were not due to contractor neglect. There have been many instances where I needed specific questions answered in order to move forward and I was not able to reach the client for days at times. We have communicated via phone, email, and text. Through iMessage, I am able to see when my text has been read, and there were multiple times that the message was not read for 2-3 days. When I noticed this, I would follow up with calls that sometimes went straight to voicemail. I have no hard feelings towards the [redacted]’s and we are working diligently to complete their project. I have even tried to issue an Amendment specifying a credit amount and new completion dates. This has yet to be signed and is another of the reason why I’m very disheartened about the complaint. I understand Mr. [redacted] is a busy man, but I need other family members to be reachable to successfully finish this project, which we have every intention of doing to their satisfaction. I hope once it’s complete, this complaint can be resolved in a professional manner. According to our feedback and reviews on not only Revdex.com, but also many other applicable sites, you will notice that this is the only complaint or negative feedback we have ever received, so needless to say it came as a shock.

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

[redacted] was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was timely, professional and always responsive to our questions and our needs. We engaged him to do some work on our investment property and he treated it like it was his own. He made sure that we were pleased with the work each step of the way and that the job performed exceeded our expectations (which it did). The fees charged were also extremely reasonable. We will definitely be using this company again.

Great follow through on commitments and contractor provided quality workmanship.

All of the associates at Ferguson GC were professional, competent, and exceptionally courteous. [redacted] worked hard to get the project completely fast and timely as well as going above and beyond to fulfill some add-on requests.

During pricing and contracting, he was honest about what he could do for me verses what would be better to get through a large retailer. This honesty was impressive and shows his integrity as a leading provider in his profession.

[redacted] and his team were also very flexible and interested in getting the job done the way I wanted it. They never hesitated to change something that didn’t seem right to me.

It was a pleasure to work with Ferguson GC and I would recommend them to anyone looking to get a job done well and reasonably priced. They are definitely a team you can trust.
