Review: I completed my taxes on line for both federal and state returns showing I had refunds for both which I couldn't print until I paid for the returns. I entered my bank info for the refund deposit. When they processed my payment the federal return cut in half and I now owe the state. I paid to speak to customer service and there is no one there. They've taken my money. They are giving me the email runaround to correct the software and file the return I paid to file. I've been trying to get this corrected before the return was accepted, now it appears too late.Desired Settlement: I want them to file the tax return I paid for. If an ammendment needs to be filed they should pay for that and refund the $17.50 I paid to speak to a person who doesn't exist.

Response:

Ms. Machon started two returns on our

OnLine system. One was completed and eFiled.

We are not aware of which return she

was looking at or at which point she is referring to. We do not

monitor or review returns; instead, we merely construct the return

eFile it to the tax agencies based on electronic instructions of the

user.

If the information that was the basis

of the return needs to be changed, it is the responsibility of the

user to do so. At many points prior to filing the return, the user

can review the tax forms for the accuracy of the entered data.

I am rejecting this response because: I had to start a second return because their system blanked and deleted the first one. I reviewed the forms and information prior to paying for my return it changed after I submitted my payment, essentially altering the return I paid for, again another computer issue on their end. If you review my summary page right now it still shows the federal return as ready to file and my state return listing my account info for the refund the system said I was owed. Their program screwed up and I not only paid them for the returns and $17.50 to talk to someone I also have to now pay for someone to fix their mistakes. The summary page of my return shows the inconsistencies with this return. They are unwilling to stand behind their product and fix my returns.

Much as the Revdex.com has summerized, they do make the effort to reply, but their reply is unsatisfactory. When I read the customer complaints, some follow the same trend as what I had experienced.

First off, the only means they provide to contact them is through their secure messaging system on their website, which is understandable due to the sensitive nature of the business, but they only provide one answer per sent question, and no means to reply, nor any button marked as "send reply".

My experience with them is that I filed a form through them before the due date with payment. There was a listing on my account showing the time and date that were before the due date, and not indication anything was missing or wrong. However, I never got any confirmation via my email, which I had to provide to create an account, nor did I see any fund transactions from my bank. After checking back almost daily for any new sign on their website, I find in a few days an error message, "Federal error 1", and a statement that the form needs to be filed on or before the due date, and what exception is allowed otherwise. I sent a secure message to them to find what happened, and they simply replied that my submission was past the due date. When I sent another message saying that my submission was before the due date, their simple reply was that I forgot to hit the submission button. However, why would they send an error message if I had never submitted the form then?

I can only conclude that they are making every effort to deny any blame to themselves and try to put the blame on the customer.

Review: Their system has a calculation error with the investment credit. All the information given is correct but the calculation which I have no control over is incorrect. All the info is the same as last year but they are coming up with 20% instead of 10% which gives me an additional $59. Not much but its wrong. Won't be submitted till the 31st to IRS but I cannot get a hold of them. Emails only answered with, received or sent answer but there is no answer! And only get voicemail when calling. This is a major issue. The problem has to be happening to everyone else. I do not want an incorrect form going to the irs! This is terrible business practice. Please help me!Desired Settlement: Fix the tax return!

Response:

The calculation has been updated to

this year's requirements earlier, and to the best of our knowledge,

the system now calculates with the correct 10% amount.

Further,

as a courtesy to the Ms. [redacted], we pulled out her return from

queue and made it editable so that Ms. [redacted] can resubmit it with

full assurance that the calculations are to her satisfaction.

We

also sent a separate secure message to Ms. [redacted] to this effect.

Thank you for contacting us.

it has not been fixed. still showing incoorect at 20%. 10% would be 59$ not 119. I cannot edit that info. they have to fix it! fix it and submit it. I should not have.to go back again to that stupid site!

Response:

We reviewed the return filed by Ms.

Kukarola and it shows the credit amount of $59. This is consistent

with the amount that she alleges to be the correct amount.

We tried to communicate with Ms.

Kukarola through secure messaging and as well as by phone. We had no

call back for our call(s). Additional services were provided to her

so that she could complete the return by redoing it.

We do not understand the problem.

Review: My wife and I have been using www.FileYourTaxes.com to prepare our Federal and State Income taxes for the past several years. This past tax year's tax returns (2012) have turned out to be an adventure. After successfully filing our Federal return earlier this year, I later received a CP11 letter from the IRS stating that our tax amount owed was incorrectly calculated based on an overstated withholding of Social Security tax on Form 1040, line 69. As a result of this, we owed additional income tax, about $1,100. I both called and responded by mail to the IRS stating a case that our return was correctly filed per the 2012 Form 1040 filing instructions.I later contacted www.FileYourTaxes.com via their secure e-mail system to get their input and assistance with the issue. They reviewed our documentation and replied with a similar assessment to mine, the returns were filed correctly.Based on the last sentence of the Form 1040 instructions for line 69, it seems that I had misinterpreted the instructions. I contacted www.FileYourTaxes.com by phone to follow up and find out why this line item was miscalculated by their system. I talked with a person named [redacted] several times, and received promises that they would get back to me the week of July 8 with an answer. It is now July 15 and have not received any response from them. My last conversation with [redacted] was Wed, July 3, and he ([redacted]) initially stated that "it appeared that all W-2's filed on the return were under my Social Security number, thus causing the miscalculation." This seems to be a false statement since they have not taken the time to respond to me, or provide proof. Additionally, it seems it would be impossible to file W-2's from my wife under my SSN. Either way, their competence for providing accurate Federal Income Tax filing is of serious question, and should be reviewed by the Revdex.com and the IRS.Desired Settlement: 1) I would like an explanation from www.FileYourTaxes.com why this miscalculation occurred, and furthermore why they have not fulfilled their verbal commitment (from [redacted] to respond to me.2) I would like www.FileYourTaxes.com to reimburse my wife and I for the major inconvenience of having to handle this issue with the IRS due to their incompetence and deplorable customer service.

A Secure eMail Message was sent on or about July 5th pertaining to this matter. This message provides a complete explanation of the circumstances as we understand it. Our record indicate that Mr/Mrs B[redacted] did not access this message in their account.

In view of the fact that this is tax related matter. We will not provide further detail here.

Review: Upset by the response that I had from this website through the secure e-mail service. The software was advertised as free e-file software on the IRS website, yet they charged me over $40 to file my federal return, I fought with the check-out system for a bit since e-filing had been advertised as free but then gave up, paid the amount, and then immediately submitted an e-mail to them informing them that I had been charged incorrectly. It's petty I know, but I had completed my income taxes for the year through forms on the IRS website, I then wanted to e-file to receive my return more quickly as I had planned for my daughter and I to live off of the return between now and when I'll be out of school and able to work, you can't e-file on your own so I had to choose software off of this list http://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp?ck which is how I found their web-site in the first place. Since no-one had to take their time to prepare my taxes and the federal filing was advertised as free I expect the business to honor what they'd told the IRS to be put on the list of free software in the first place which is no filing fees. When I got a response from their customer service it was to the effect that I had to link directly from the IRS website to free file (which I did in fact do when I created my account with them from a school computer) and that they had no record of me doing that. I sent them another e-mail, but then realized it would be better to go through Revdex.com. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind paying for software but this semester I have been cooking every meal and biking everywhere I go without my daughter to save money, I'm a Senior studying civil engineering and I can't afford to work more than I do or spend $47.75 that I don't have.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the 47.75 that was charged to my card after I filled out a return by following the link at this address: https://www.fileyourtaxes.com/cgi-bin/2005/affiliate.pl?s=ALLIANCEI qualify for a free return, I used difficult to navigate software and an annoying login after being promised a free e-file.

Response:

Thank you for your inquiry.

FileYourTaxes.com provides a very large

number of free returns as as a public service.

However, Taxpayers, wishing to use the

free services for tax returns and extensions must arrive on our

special landing page, specifically referred from the IRS' Free File

page independently, first time they come to our site for the that

season's filing. Each such arriving return is tagged as a free

return. All other returns are subject to our stated fees. The

Taxpayer is free to complete a return and view or print a draft copy

of that return prior to payment. Once the Taxpayer directs us to

produce or eFile the return we provide the description and amount of

the associated fees for our service. Taxpayer can choose to stop at

this point without any obligation to us.

The return in question was not received

from the FFA page and therefore was not tagged as a free return.

Therefore the assessed fee that was willingly paid by Ms. [redacted] is

correct, proper and stands. The same explanation was provided to to

Ms. [redacted] previously on or about March 14, 2014.

I am rejecting this response because:

I arrived from the IRS landing page, as stated earlier that is how I discovered fileyourtaxes.com in the first place. I thought when asked for payment to try clicking through to find the free (as advertised) return service and assumed the fee had been accessed in error.

Now on going back to the landing page which I arrived at the first time through I realize now there are two links to start your return, since one simply is green and reads start your free file with an arrow pointing to the right to another button which says let me see value added offers. I thought that first button was just directing me to click the link to start my tax return and along the way I would be offered value added offers. On clicking the value added offers there are none, just a sign-up sheet and then the process of beginning your taxes with no mention of any fees or the amount they intend to charge you for the service. (I would call this deceptive advertising or bait and switch) A user would naturally continue on like I had and spend a few hours filling out all the online forms before trying to e-file and not finding the free file that had been advertised. Since this company had an A rating from Revdex.com I assumed after a while of toying with the return settings that there was an error somewhere in the program and that the business would honor the advertised price (which essentially gets them free advertising on the IRS website). So I sent in my return and immediately e-mailed the customer service to inform them of the discrepancy.

https://www.fileyourtaxes.com/cgi-bin/2005/affiliate.pl?s=ALLIANCE

above is the web address I filed at, looking at the page a third time I realize not only is the green sign saying start a free file return pointing me to the button which will then have you complete all the time consuming form filling before giving you a price quote, but there is also a man smiling and pointing you into a box which tells you you may view value added offers and then file a free return. This was constructed to be misleading and there are probably market research tests (if not the company's own trial and error iterations) to create a misleading page and then take advantage of the traffic generated by having a link on the IRS website. I'm saving all of the screen shots and if your company is that inflexible in returning the fees (for an identical return to the free one) then I'm sure there are more people out there who have been misguided in the same way. I'm not a fan of companies who use the government's image to lead people into a false sense of security and exploit them. All I'm asking is for honest business practice, for the company to act honorably and in good faith. We will speak again.

Review: I e-filed my tax return as I did last year with this co. When completed, they showed a refund of $2257. I printed the summary, you can't print the return until it is accepted. A few days later, I received an e-mail that it was accepted. I logged back in to print the return. I saw that the refund was only $557. I then e-mailed Customer service & was sent a reply that asked which 2 amounts I was referring to. I then sent another e-mail with more detail. I have not heard from them since & it has not changed when I look at the return online. I sent a total of 6 e-mails since Feb 2. I cannot call them without first paying a charge. I also cannot amend or redo the return. The higher return ($2557)is very close to my last years amount, therefore, it seems like a mistake on their part. I need an explanation from them as to what happened & how to fix this without being charged again. This is not a free service.Desired Settlement: A no charge conversation with Customer Service & a no charge amendment if there was a mistake.

Response:

We thank Mr. [redacted] for being a repeat customer for the last three years.

Our system is based solely on the data entered by the user. The original return as submitted did not include a credit amount that makes up the difference. Subsequent to filing, the said amount was included. However, once the return is filed and accepted, there is no way for us to change that return. However, the taxpayer has the option to make changes through the amendment process during the allowed statutory period, as man times as desired.

The user can always print the return and forms and schedules always before the filing of the return and also once the return is accepted. The summary page allows the printing of forms through the small PDF logos, and the user can also choose printing option once logged in. Printing is not allowed during the period that the IRS is holding the return for the purpose of acknowledging the return. This usually is a very short period (usually hours) and no action can be taken on the return at this time.

We feel that we have earned our fee, constructing and electronically filing the return in the automated manner we promised. In this case, it will not be our responsibility to amend the return.

We look forward to serving Mr. [redacted] again in the future. To this end, as a good will gesture, we will extend a discount to him for the 2014 taxes. Since those codes are not available at this time, we will look forward to hearing from from Mr. [redacted] during November-December 2014 time-frame, with copy of this communication, to request such a code.

I am rejecting this response because: They would not allow me to print the return before it was processed. They would not allow me to amend the return before it was processed. They have not stood behind their promises. They have not earned their fee. They should allow me to amend the return at no charge. I don't think this is asking too much. By filing an amended return, this will increase the chance of the IRS auditing my return. That sounds like good fun , NOT. If I cannot amend my return thru fileyourtaxes.com, I will have to go thru another tax filing service & pay them to file the amendment. Fileyourtaxes.com can either refund my money or pay for someone else to correct their mistake.

Thank you Revdex.com for your dedication to helping all of us.
