First Service Residential Reviews (57)

Review: I moved out of my rented apartment at [redacted] on August [redacted], 2014. I have been calling and emailing to receive my deposit check and the staff are doing nothing to resolve the issue. It's been over 60 days and I was told I would receive my check within 45 days. The company owes me $4.499.29 and as a result of not receiving my deposit check on time, I now have other financial problems that stem from the company's lack of professionalism in resolving this issue.Desired Settlement: I need to receive my deposit check immediately.

Review: I was the [redacted] of a property managed by First Service Residential. As part of the building's sublet agreement, I was to a provide a deposit of one month's maintenance. I sold the property in question on 12/**/2014 and informed the management company and [redacted] that I would like my deposit refunded to me. After almost a dozen emails and promises that the issue would be resolved, I am still waiting with no indication that my claim is being properly addressed. The [redacted] in particular has been almost completely unresponsive to my repeated requests.Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit returned.

I am a resident in one of First Service's properties on Long Island. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review of a service however after repeated poor service, poor communication, and poor overall treatment, I had to write. Very basic maintenance requests are often ignored, not responded to, and overall I don't feel that this company actually cares about the residents they serve. I pay a lot of money every month in maintenance and often I feel like First Service actually thinks I'm asking for favors when I'm asking for services I pay for every month. I love where I live but the management of the property is always the one thing that gets me to think about moving. It's a shame but I just don't feel this company actually cares about the residents.

Review: All, It was brought to my attention that the $750 (refundable) move in deposit was never refunded after the move on August [redacted] and there is a clearly exchanged message that the move was executed as scheduled without any damage.

So we are supposed to receive the alleged $750 towards the end of August and we communicated with the property management few times during the last two month to get our money back. Its early October now and the payment is two months past due and I am not sure what are the grounds for this delay and why I am dealing with it !

I have the receipt of the payment along with the lease agreement and I can provide upon request!

The $750.00 (Refundable) was for Move-In Deposit payable to [redacted] Condominium. Deposit will be refunded after moving inspection by managing agent if no damage has occurred during move.

I need my money back along with the incurred interest for two month.Desired Settlement: a Check to paid for [redacted] with $750 + two month interest ( ~$25)

Sincerely,

Review: The company overcharged the building $60 per month starting February 2014 until July 2014 (5 months total of $300) and is delaying refunding the overpayment. On multiple occasions FirstService Residential was contacted and the promised to refund the money as of now - still no refund.Desired Settlement: The refund to be issued

Sincerely,

Review: First Service Residential previously known as "Cooper Square", had also conducted business as "Goddard Riverside Housing Co" located at: [redacted] as shown on its letterhead dated August **, 2006. In 2006, my wife and I applied for a 1 bdrm apartment, enclosing a $200 deposit. In reply, we received a letter dated August **, 2006, advising that we are currently at #[redacted] on the waiting list. Said letter, states on the bottom that "you may contact our office periodically to obtain updates of your position on the waiting list". From 2006 through 2011, my wife dialed phone #s ###-###-#### & ###-###-####, and spoke with [redacted] to obtain periodic updates. Subsequently, it has been impossible to reach anyone at the Office. In June *, 2013, I sent out a certified mail to obtain an update which remains unanswered. On March **, 2014, my wife dialed ###-###-####, and it identified itself as First Service Residential. She left a voice message for [redacted] Evans for a return call, which still remains unanswered. On March **, 2014 & April *, 2014, certified mail has been sent out, but remains unanswered.Desired Settlement: An immediate return of our initial $200 deposit would settle this matter.

Review: This company is the managing agent for my building. Part of their responsibility if filing the proper paperwork with the city in regards to ownerships, taxes and abatements. The NY Department of Finance stated that they failed to file the change in ownership form for my apartment for 2013 and therefore I did not receive the tax abatement I was entitled to and that I filed paperwork for. I have reached out to my building agent [redacted] on numerous occasions but she has not resolved the issue or advised on if and when I can expect to be reimbursed. I also called and emailed her [redacted] on numerous occasions and he had never gotten back to me.Desired Settlement: $1417.92 (the difference between the abatement assessment of 1922.82 I was charged on 6/*/14 and the actual credit I received of 504.90)

Sincerely,

Review: Firstservice Residential failed to send monthly statement from Mar.2015 to Aug.2015. Upon receiving an email from this company on Jul **, 2015 stating that I have five months of maintenance arrears and $308.88 late fee to pay, I immediately sent $3971.80 (five months maintenance)and an email to Firstservice Residential to inform this company of the payment and I also stated that it is not right to impose the $308.88 late fee because Firstservice Residential had failed to send me the monthly statements from Mar. to July 2015. In addition, I mentioned that automatic payment has been set up for future maintenance.I have not received any reply from the two individuals at Firstservice Residential to whom the email was sent.Desired Settlement: Remove the $308.88 late fee.
