Fitness World Reviews (%countItem)

my daughter used to go to *** but in March the gym closed permanently.
I was not charged on my credit card since March until, surprisingly, August. I called Fitness World headquarters number several times but nobody answered and there is no voice mail available either. After multiples tries, finally, somebody answered but they said there were not able to help me on the phone.
The wrong charges were 26/08 $41.99, 22/09 $20.48, 25/09 $41.99 and 02/10 $20.48.
I never authorized these charges so I need help/tips to get reimbursed as soon as possible. I am on my way to the Fitness World Port Moody gym now.

Does the member want to cancel this membership and have they already requested a refund from the club? If so, this will be processed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I have already canceled the membership.

Sincerely

Over a decade after cancelling our memberships, they have started to take “payments” out of our bank account without permission. They have taken 5 payments from our account since Aug 24th. I have requested a stop payment from my bank and they are filing a dispute with the company to get our money back (total of $84.65).y

Fitness World Response • Oct 06, 2020

If they are requesting a charge back we can't provide a refund as they would be reimbursed twice. If they stop the charge back we can provide a refund. Otherwise, they can continue through their bank.

I’m very upset & frustrated with how the New Fitness World has reopened without properly informing me that they will continue to withdraw money from me. I received no email from them that after 5 months of shutdown that my membership was still valid with them. I thought they never emailed me because I was a much older member before the old Fitness World was bought by ***. All my friends were getting emails except me. Just a few a days ago I was shocked to see the new Fitness World has withdrawn payments for the last 2 months. I went physically to cancel my membership and explained my situation and the customer rep verified that my account was missing my email address. I told her it’s wrong for Fitness World to withdraw from a day I never authorized for payments. It goes against my contract I signed.
She said she couldn’t help me & that I would have to call customer service for my refund. I asked her for their number and just shrugged her shoulder and said sorry I don’t know.
I was going to continue my membership of 20 yrs but after this horrible experience with unresponsive customer service it won’t be worth staying with this gym.

Fraud company FITNESS WORLD/STEVE NASH on the march they closed the Marine Gateway location, they reopened with a different name, they charged me on 26 of august I went there and asked why I am paying for I don't wat to continue with the new company they should have asked me if I want to continue on the first place. later on, they denied refunding me or no answer so I cancelled my membership on the same day. Now again today on 22nd September they deducted fees. and they are telling me my branch which is on Marine Gateway was on the dispute on 26th of august so they can't cancel my membership. What a horrible customer looting policy.

My husband and I each purchased 1 year memberships for 2020. They closed my location formerly known as *** in Kelowna for COVID. During this time the business was bought out by Fitness World. There was no mention of when my location would reopen so I was following the email updates. I had a few questions about being reimbursed/compensated for the months they were closed but never received a response, their website simply said to ask about these kinds of questions at your local gym. I checked a few times on their website to see when the Kelowna location was set to re-open and suddenly Kelowna was no longer listed. The closest locations to me are all 4+ hours away. There was no email sent out or even an attempt to let anyone know this would be happening. I have sent several emails and messages trying to find out who I should talk to about my situation and they have been ignored. This is incredibly unprofessional and frustrating.

I was a 5 year member of *** in Victoria BC. The gym shut down in March 2020 due to Covid19. The *** then went bankrupt and shutdown operations. However I was still charged my monthly fee for the month of March. Then in the summer the *** was bought by Fitness World and re-opened in August 2020. I was charged the monthly fee $28.12 plus an additional $9.98 without my permission. Fitness World claims they sent me an email asking whether I wanted to continue with my membership with the new club. I did not receive any email asking me about joining the new fitness club. When I phoned last week to cancel my membership (which I did not sign up for) I was told I had to phone head office in Vancouver. When I phoned the Vancouver Fitness World they told me that there was not head office and that I would need to go in person to cancel. I went in to cancel my membership and get a refund for the extra charges. My membership was cancelled ( I think) but I was not given a refund for services which I did not use.

The *** memberships as assignable/transferable during a sale. Fitness World cannot issue a refund for Mar, but will issue a refund for Aug. We will also cancel the membership if not already done so.

I've been getting the run around from everyone in this company.
I signed up at this Richmond location 2 weeks before quarantine so that I could go to the gym straight after work. Now they are permanently shut down. I only worked out twice with that membership. I also have a membership at *** near my home which has now been acquired by Fitness World. So, now I am stuck with 2 memberships and nobody will contact me to help fix my issue.
I tried to get someone to help me out in every way possible but have gotten nowhere. I sent countless emails, posted on their 2 main *** pages, sent messages via *** and *** messenger and finally got an email response over a month later asking me to go to a physical location.
So, I went to a physical location then they said send an email to the same email address that told me to go to a physical location. What the heck is going on? Are you stalling so I eventually give up? I'll never go away or give up when you have over $600 of my money!
I hear the old *** owner is still a major player but you're a "new" company. Don't be slimy like the old Fitness World and redeem yourselves. Contact me and help fix this problem. It doesn't have to be so messy.

has closed down and as far it was know to public, they were bankrupt on end of the March 2020.
It looks, that was not the case. ***, has been sold to Fitness World sometime in July 2020. I had a contract with ***, not with Fitness World. On August 24, 2020, Fitness World has access to my bank account and withdrew two payments of $36.74, with out my knowledge.
Fitness World BC Ltd., and I don't have any signed agreement or
contract.
It looks that *** sold his company and all data file on me, when he sold his company. ***
I made a trip to Fitness World on Tuesday, to cancel my member ship with Fitness World, which there should not be any contract with them in the first place. To my surprise, they said that the new company has reached out to old customers by email and sending written letter, which I never received either. I would like Fitness World BC Ltd, re-embers two payments that they took out of my account. *** if you wish to talk to anybody, we get all run around, and never getting to the new owners to speak to consumers.
Just would like to see that all who have been taken for he ride, will get they money back, no more no less.

was sold to a new ownership group. The membership agreements are assignable/transferable when the company is sold. This is part of their membership group. Seven emails were sent to members and posts were shared on Social Media. If the member new *** was bankrupt and was sold, they would have also know the club is reopening. The member did not contact us to cancel their membership until Sep 3. Regardless, we will cancel the membership and refund the charges. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process. Thanks

I was a member of the *** before pandemic started. The club was closed in COVID and later on sold to Fitness World. My membership has been transferred to the new ownership. Some of the clubs have been opened but not the ones in my neighborhood. I called on of the locations and they asked me to visit one of their locations in person to cancel the membership and receive a refund. I went to their location and explained my situation and they referred me to their manager. The manager refused to offer any help and asked me to send my request through email to head office. He also told me they don't have any phone number of their office! I sent my agreement and all supporting materials but did not hear back. I want my membership cancelled and money refunded.

This member purchased a prepaid membership from ***. They did not purchase this from Fitness World.

Fitness World is honouring the expiry date of memberships from ***, but cannot issue a refund.

Fitness World charged me on March 15th for the month ahead, closed on March 16th for COVID. I emailed to get a refund and to cancel membership, no response. In August (?), they re-opened as Fitness World, without informing anyone (I had no idea until I saw another charge on my credit card on August 21st). As soon as I saw the charge, I contacted them requesting again to cancel and get a refund. The branch says I have to email member services and they can't do cancellations at the branch. Member services does not respond to emails. It's been 10 days and I cannot get a hold of anyway to receive a refund for a membership with the re-branded gym I never signed up for. I may have to cancel the actual credit card they have on file to avoid being charged next month. This business is horrible.

I was previously a member of *** which closed it's doors on March 17, 2020 and subsequently went bankrupt shortly after.
On August 26, 2020 my bank account was debited with an unauthorized charge of $36.47 from "Fitness World" which I believe is the name of the new company that purchased the assets of the bankrupt ***. I did not join the new Fitness World or authorize them to charge my bank account. I went to the new Fitness World location at Howe & Davie St. downtown Vancouver to "cancel" a membership I had not signed up for (or had transferred from the previous ***), but they could not confirm that there would be no further charges to my bank account OR that I would be refunded for the unauthorized charge on August 26, 2020. Also, they could not provide a phone number to contact the Fitness World Corporate Office, only a email for member services. I have emailed member services and have not received any response.

Fitness World went under during the lockdown, and my credit card information was passed on to Fitness World. *** When I went to the location and called, I was bounced from person to person, but essentially, they were saying, as I did a prepaid membership, they will honor the membership, but not the lost time due to lockdown as it is a different company. I had *** membership, which should translate to *** membership and I have *** add on, which should translate to the *** small group training under the new system. It was explicitly said that all memberships will translate to the closest new service they offer. I got CHARGED for a *** add on despite the fact that it is a *** Fitness World offering, overlaps with their *** membership, and also, they said themselves the company no longer exist. So, they are CHARGING, ONGOING, FOR A SERVICE OF A DEFUNCT COMPANY FOR SERVICES THEY DO NOT OFFER. When I call the Richmond, Granville, Kingsway locations they all tell me to call a different location and/or to email in to cancel. I told them to remove my credit card, and the Granville location person, Tulika, said she will do it, but god knows if she will.

I was a member of the *** before COVID. The club was closed during COVID and later on sold to Fitness World. My membership has been transferred to the new ownership. Some of the clubs have been opened but not the ones in my neighbourhood. I called the nearest location which is half hour from my house and asked them to cancel my membership. They say it has to be done in person. I explained that the COVID is on the rise in BC and I do not wish to make an unnecessary trip if I can do this over the phone. I feel the company wants to *** their customers. I will bring this to the news agency if they don't do anything about this

Issue resolvedThanks

shut down and then reopened up as another company, Fitness World, months later. They passed my banking information and personal information on to the new company without my permission. I went in the first day it opened to cancel (even though I didn’t sign up with Fitness World) but they said that they will still charge me for the next month and a half. Unbelievable that they can get away with this!

On or about July 15, 2020, I received notification that *** assets had been acquired by FW Fitness World (Newco) under the *** Act. I advised Newco to cancel my membership. Since then I have been *** by multiple email *** to renew my membership.

We’re catching up on our email responses to [email protected]. This individual (Complaint ID #***) did not contact us to be removed from our email listing. I have submitted this to our IT Manager to remove.

On Nov 25th 2019 I paid Steve Nash Fitness World $419.000 for a one year membership. Sometime in the spring the company declared Bankruptcy. A few weeks ago I received an email from them, saying they were under new management/ownership and that they would be honouring existing memberships. However my membership was specifically for the Brentwood location. They are not re-opening the Brentwood location. Their other locations do not work for me. I asked them for pro-rated refund but they said the were not able to because ***. I searched *** and I could not find anything that makes reference to them being prohibited from giving a refund.

I am posting this review and am hoping some former members do the same. Doubt I will even get a response back as it has been virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get through to anyone at their headquarters. They laid off and/or terminated all of their employees buy the looks and sounds of it!?!? I had belonged to the Steve Nash Fitness World Brentwood location for quite a long time. I paid good money(close to $36 a month which was excessive in my opinion!) to workout at this location. I liked it as it is close to where I live in ***. They closed down their operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic around mid march 2020. But in my opinion I believe they just conveniently used the pandemic as an excuse to shut their doors, change ownership, etc. I believe that their was some internal problems going on and that Steve Nash was looking to have his name no longer associated with ***. He was trying to get out of it all together. So rather than this company being HONEST AND UP FRONT WITH THEIR MEMBERS they conveniently used the Covid 19 pandemic to their advantage. They could have been HONEST and up front with their members and had said they were going to close and go through with some changes but they didn't. They went about everything really sleazy. Now they have been sending emails to me saying they have since recently gotten new owners*** and that everything was all hunky dory and they'd be re-opoening again and begin charging us dues. They would honour our former memberships and even reduce the monthly fees. Well having not been able to get in touch with anyone there at all at their company headquarters I became quite put off and annoyed as to how they went about everything. Just poorly sleazily done. And now no new Brentwood Mall location to boot and as what was promised and supposed to happen all all along. Thanks for nothing. I have since jumped ship and joined *** earlier on today at the same location. *** bought out the old former place. I emailed the new *** regime giving them a good piece of my mind(yes swear words added!) and told them don't even think about going ahead with any of my monthly dues as I had notified my bank to put a 'immediate stop payment" to my original preauthorized payment set up! Told whomever good luck getting any of your former members back with fitness world new regime. You burnt your bridges with most of us and to boot *** me out of half a months dues! Maybe you can send me a cheque for the $20 or so bucks you *** me out of?

In February of 2020, I purchased 12 training sessions ($1197.00) at Fitness World (Burnaby location). I only fulfilled 5 of those sessions before the gym closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since closing, I heard nothing from the company or my trainer. I reached out to my trainer a few days ago to ask when we were going to resume the sessions and he told me he no longer worked for the company. I went to the FW website and contacted their Member Services requesting a refund for the sessions I did not fulfill. They responded with a very cryptic email stating the following: "***"
FW has taken no responsibility and have offered no solutions. This is inexcusable. I want a refund, or at the very least an opportunity to fulfill my sessions with a new trainer of my choosing.

I made a payment of $1323.00 to Steve Nash.
This fee is for personal training session, but before I have session they closed due to COVID-19.
I heard they are bankruptcy, so I would like to get all money back.

I have purchase 2 memberships for total of 22 months for my son and myself for total of $2,141.94 following are the charge detail and dates:
Mar /20 $62.99 Amanda Prijatelj annual equipment fee
Jan 4/20 $20.98 Account freezings fee ( for 2 months )
Sept 30/19 $1,044.99 ( Amanda Prijatelj; myself membership for 22 months starts Dec 31/2019)
Oct 01/19 $62.99 ( ***; annual equipment fee)
July 31/19 $944.99 ( ***; my son membership for 22 months starts Aug 1/2019)

Now, Stevenash has intentions to closed down the service not to deliver the service.
