Elmer is charismatic and makes himself very available to his customers Right from our first meeting he held himself to a different standard by paying for a satellite picture of our roof, discussing proper vents inside the attic which increases ventilation from the soffit vents, advising how to build a gutter on a part of our roof that didn't have a gutter (later going to a special vendor to get parts to make that gutter and its downspouts), and even best - offering a competitive price We got pricing and quotes from five other vendors and listened to their pitches yet we chose Elmer's companyElmer got the permit and then closed it shortly after the job From the time we committed to having him do the work he finished it within two weeks "** ***" made replacing the roof a contingency of putting insulation into our walls and attic and Elmer complied with their timing and recommendations tooThe outcome was superb and workmanship was perfect Besides the roof he also took an unused chimney down below the rooflineAnd it wasn't easyHe spent more time on it then he planned and had to use his own generator to break the chimney up since the power supplied through our outside outlet was not apparently adequate Yet there was no pricing differenceSome roofers advised us that the space in between our sheathing was too large (about an inch or so) and we would need solid planking installed before they could install the roofThat would cost about $extra They said if they nailed into the spaces the shingles would fly offElmer said he could nail into the sheaths and would miss the spaces saving us a bundleHe was rightThere is not one nail in the spaces between the sheaths todayAdditionally Elmer's cleafter the job was terrific (and I have three very young kids who walk around the yard barefoot)I found very few nails and almost no debris when he leftElmer has probably installed thousands of roofs in his careerThe real surprise is that there are only reviews here I have already referred him twice to a friend and a client of mine Elmer was referred to me by our next door neighbor who also had a good experience with him We live in Newton MAThe work was completed in August Today is 10/02/ One month in and lots of rain storms after - I'm as psyched as I was the day he completedBring on winter!
