FleetMatics USA, Inc. Reviews (39)

My company decided to use Fleetmatics mainly for e-logs in a small fleet of 1-ton pickup trucks/trailers that meet DOT requirements for logbooksAfter being reassured that their product would be compatible and install would be completed within days, we signed the contract and began installationNot only did Fleetmatics send the wrong parts on multiple occasions and on several instances failed to show up for the appointment, they didn't even end up making a product that was compatible with pickup truck Oports
They ended up signing us up to beta test the *** product that would work with the trucksAfter months of chasing them around, trucks remained without hardwareThe director of sales was extremely rude and unhelpful, and we were shuffled around to various people who did not have the power or knowledge to assistWe were charged full price almost every single month, and met resistance every time we fought the bill
Another issue was the customer "service" department, who apparently do not know each otherEvery time one CSR left a message we would call back and have to start all over with the issue because whoever picked up the phone had never heard of the person who left the message
All in all our experience was awful, and never got to use the productThis company clearly has deep-rooted communication and internal educational issues that need to be resolvedWe were able to terminate the contract and receive a refund for a portion of the monthly fees, but we still took a large loss for this train wreck of an experienceIf you are looking for a telematic and/or ELR vendor, I would highly suggest looking elsewhere

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11665378, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me if they are indeed implying we don't owe them any money
and they will leave us alone
Sincerely,
Joshua ***

These people are scumThey will lie, cheat and do everything possible to get your accountWhen our contract ended we canceled the service the tried to bill us for another yearPlease beware...don't use these ss
Fleetmatics is the most dishonest company we ever had services with

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Fleetmatics continues to assert the evergreen clause in the contract renewed my commitment while we were negotiating the terms of a new contractThe current offer on the table is to remove the two vehicles I have been trying to remove for almost a year now, and stay with Fleetmatics I will not do business with a company that so clearly lacks integrityI will be taking my business elsewhere and maintain my complaint as a warning to others that might be considering Fleetmatics Buyer beware
Sincerely,
*** ***

I contacted this Fleetmatics about five years ago; That is when I met Tavis *** a sales rep He flew out and did a demo with myself and the owners of an oil field company that I was the IT Director for at the time The product showed impressive functionality compared to our then provider, almost to go to be true They had a great product, as long as it performed the same way when the installation process was complete on service trucks The install process was not real smooth, but they contracted a pretty good company to install We were happy, we paid around 3k a month for their service, minimal issues after the initial setup and configurationThen after a year or so of signing up, Duane M"a salesman" from Fleetmatics Works calls me Fleetmatics Works is a work order and Dispatch Software that works with the GPS Software It is new, and lacks critical functionality, like integrating out of the box into your Accounting Software This way you are not entering data multiple times I did see that we may be able to tweak it to replace our current Field Services Software that is currently integrated and flows nicely with *** *** One We knew we did not want to sign a 1-year contract just to test it So we both came to an agreement that we would enter into a paid trial Our cost was a month for office users Not a bad price, if it works Much cheaper than what we are using, and we would have a full cloud solution compared to installed in our server room and maintained by meWe sent a cancellation email letter typed and signed by the owner of the company the day before the days was up Duane and his boss immediately called me and wanted to speak to my boss, so I set up a call They ask why we wanted to cancel We told them, they were not giving us enough time to test properly and didn't want to enter into a one-year contract I told them it was just not going to work for us because of the limited functionality, and the total cost of integration into our backend accounting system They ask us on the phone if they could get another integration company involved named "*** ***" to give us a quote on the integration between the two platforms We verbally agreed as they did Two months later, *** *** came in with a 100,dollar quote to integrate the two We in the meantime paid the dollar trial fee per month; their setup guy was also supposed to be building reports, mocked after reports we ran and used every day These reports all had to line up, along with the two software packages integrated for us to continue We sent them an Email after getting the cost from the integration company, to go ahead and cancel the software for good We were done wasting time; we were not going to let them talk us into, trying again, or delaying the cancellation any longer These guys were very pushy, and we gave them a real shot to win our businessA few months later, we get our GPS bill and notice that it is 18K, well they stuck us into a 1-year contract for work licenses They said they never got the email, either of them I sent it to the same address for cancellations that we sent the first one too, and "they immediately called to talk to my boss the first time." They said they would shut our GPS units off when I called to inquire about the extra charges, and it would cost $ for each unit to be turned back on, we would be required to pay the 18,in back "gotcha" Charges We went back and forth for a few weeks over the bill and, finally to avoid termination fees, and credit problems we agreed to settle on paying half of the 18K Which was very disappointing, they ripped us off The company I work for was taken advantage of and scammed We were bullied into a contract and taken advantage A reputable company lets you out of a deal that does not benefit both parties, not this one They like to stick it to you, even if it means bankruptcy for the customerThey investigated the account and found none of the emails that I was able to find; I sent them again They still said I was working in the system, and I had not signed into the system since the first time we canceled They even showed me a log; my guess is they logged in as me to show account activity after the trial ended They were real careful not to agree to anything by email, only by phone This company is now going back on the settlement we both agreed They are threatening to shut off our GPS units off if we don't pay for another dollars of license fees for Work Software It's crazy the way this business operates If they didn't do this, we would continue to add to our a month business with them They have lost us totallyHow can the Revdex.com give them such a high rating? There are no good reviews, only appalling ones Even on *** or any other review site, it's littered across the net with negative reviews Its hard to find a good review Revdex.com needs to give them the score they deserve; they deserve to be investigated by the law I even brought three different companies to fleetmatics, and they have treated them all the same way Fleetmatics said if we happen to get slow with not much work If we parked some vehicles that we could put some units to sleep Well, nope they want you to pay for them regardless You are not allowed to scale back if your business model changes, or if you fall on hard times Everything they sell is a lie Do not trust this company Be careful

I sent the e--mail below to different people to cancel our service before it even started two weeks ago and have been left unanswered and ignoredWe were greatly misled, and now are being told that it takes weeks for them to review and decide if they will allow us to cancel Very crooked business A company should not be the one who decides whether or not we keep their service when they lie to you in order to get you to start They will
Per our conversation today, we would like to cancel our recently signed contract with FleetMatics that we have not yet started implementing There are several reasons that we feel that it will not work for our company, and feel that we were misled by our salesman, Michael *** in order for him to make the sale to benefit himselfThis transition for our company is meant to be a huge step towards the progression of time management, scheduling, inventory control, less manual steps and less paperworkAll of the requirements that we were looking for were explained to Michael numerous times to verify that we were getting the correct program for our company and our current situation We were assured that everything would completely integrate with *** ***, and that it would do all of the things we need, including tracking & adjusting our inventory in *** *** I also specifically asked him during our sales presentation call if the transfer of completed invoices into *** *** would decrease our inventory stock levels We were assured by Michael that it would, and were also told that all of our vehicles would be called individual warehouses that would have inventory levels decreased when our technicians selected the items they used at each job This program does not meet our company’s needs, nor will it decrease or take away the manual steps that increase the odds of human errorBecause of the fact that we are now being told by you that your program is not equipped to function that way yet, it is not going to work for our company The fact that we would have to manually adjust our inventory levels in *** *** every time we invoice a customer would increase our chances of inventory errors as well as being more time consuming for our office staffWe were already very frustrated from the beginning because of Michael putting us under so much pressure to sign the contract immediately after the presentation I am not sure if Michael, as your salesman, does not actually know your program well enough to be selling it accurately or if he purposely said what he thought we wanted to hear to sell to us I do know that I told him myself before the presentation that I was going to give him our owner, Dennis’, phone number to be used only for the purpose of the conference call and that it was not to be used again after that point I explained to him that Dennis does not work out of this office directly, and that all decisions are made by Dennis and myself, and then I would be the one to execute themShortly after the presentation, we started receiving pressuring phone calls from Michael pushing us to sign that day We repeatedly told him that when we had a chance to talk to Dennis to make a decision, that we would call him back He then asked if he could call Dennis directly, and once again, I explained to him that he needed to work through me in this office and not contact Dennis directly As soon as he hung up, he called Dennis directly, which only frustrated him as well as us that Michael was not giving us a chance to discuss such an impacting decision for our companyI then had to stop what I was working on another time that day to call Michael to repeat myself again since he was not understanding that he needed work through me and wait for us to make our decision when we were ready Michael kept telling us that in order for him to waive the activation fee, that we would have to sign it right away which put us under a lot of pressure causing us to have no choice but to trust what he was telling us was trueI understand that salesman need to be pushy to an extent in order to make their money, but when the salesman gives information to a customer in order to make that sale, it only makes the company look bad It also forces the customer to question all of the employees’ actual knowledge and expertise of their own product, as well as the reputation of the companyWe had a company goal with a deadline to have a new system implemented by January 1st, and now feel that we have wasted so much time waiting and thinking that this was the program that we were told it wasWe are very upset and frustrated that we now have to start over with our search for a compatible program, and most likely will not meet our company goal because of this set back Please cancel the contract that was sold to us by Michael with the use of information

As of 9/22/Fleetmatics has not reached out to me for a resolutionThey have not called nor have they emailed me
In fact just today I received a notice from them that they tried to charge my credit card again and were unable due to a block I have installed
Fleetmatics appears to be a highly dishonest company with business practices that should not be allowedThey are clearly one of the most dishonest companies I have dealt with in my years in business
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/09/30) */
We are willing to work with the customer and will continue to reach out in order to resolve the matter

I am rejecting this response because: they are unable to deliver the product in a format as was sold to us. They have made no additional attempts to resolve the issues with us. they have made no contacts with us. their only response is for us to pay for an unusable product. They have also not resolved an ongoing problem with their "Reports" function making that part of the product also very cumbersome to utilize
Sincerely,

BE AWARE: if you are considering FleetMatics (FM), or are new to fleet tracking services:
1) Definition of IDLING - If you want to track excessive idling and fuel consumption (vs long stops), FMs' Idling report is worthlessPer company reps, FM defines idling as a vehicle that is stopped - even if that vehicle's engine is offAfter more than months of paying for their service, I was just told by Jessica *** (who says she has worked for FM for 5+ years) "that's how FM has always defined idling"I have also asked numerous FM reps if they would say that their own vehicle was 'idling' if the engine was not on and every single time get the exact same initial response - long silence, followed by a bunch of non-responsive answersSo note: FM defines Idling as the "Amount of time that the vehicle is registered IGNITION ON", NOT ENGINE ON
2) FM reports IDLING, even when other FM reports show the vehicle driving (at >35mph), rendering the whole module unreliable and useless

A man named Dan called our business and asked for the owner like he knew who she was, but kept calling her a himHe was very harassing and told us many times that he knew her and wants to speak with himWhen he was transferred to the front desk to take a message, (her name is the same as the owner), he got all exited and started pitching her his businessWhen she informed him that she was merely an assistant to the owner and to leave a message, he slammed the phone and hung up very rudelyI know sales personnel have to get thru gatekeepers, but to lie and say someone knows you only to waste our time and then to get hung up on is not a great business practiceIt's easy to say, that this business will be one we never do business withVery sad

I've got to say, I just looked them up to see if I was the only one who thought the way I do I had been a reasonably happy Fleetmatics customer since I don't know how much I've spent with them offhand, but my initial payment was over $8, I know my bills been well into the 10's of thousands of dollars over the years For the most part, short of a few hiccups, I've been pretty satisfied
My company software has now changed and is not compatible with theirs, so I called and said that I was heading in a different direction No real complaints, just businessThe sales rep who I was dealing with said I couldn't cancel I had him escalate the issue to their Credit and Collections Supervisor They both told me I was locked in for more years I explained I have been a customer since and didn't think I couldn't still be locked in to a contract They refused to let me go and said my buyout would be over $due to some 'Evergreen clause' that allows them to automatically renew me
I said I would remove the units and send them back (original units as well, not like they've been upgraded or anything) They said it would be $per unit to have a guy come out and uninstall I asked if I had all my trucks present was it still $per truck? Yes I said send a guy and remove at least one The guy they sent looked so down trodden I thought I should offer him a toothbrush, a meal and some clean clothes I'm not exaggerating My office staff were afraid to let him in the door He showed up in a beat up pickup full of trash and old appliances, no uniform, no id, but knew enough that I knew he was who they sent All he did was snip a wire and take the unit minutes max I had every unit removed from my fleet and sent them back I paid for that visit
Also, here's the part that truly bothers me I was on 'auto pay' and they faithfully ran my credit card every quarter I sent an email to their 'Credit and Collections Supervisor' who I was talking to AND to their customer service saying I'd be happy to pay what I owed, though was disputing the extended, renewed contract, ESPECIALLY since I've been with them for so long I clearly told them they did not have my permission to run my credit card again Low and behold, I see the charge appear Mind you, they ran it more than a week after we had the email exchange, but now are telling me now that 'it was already in process' Note in my company a credit card transaction in process or not, can be cancelled at a moment's notice I appealed it to the credit card company with my communications as documentation, which in both cases, got a response, so they reversed the charge I think that's pretty much an attempt at some sort of theft I lost all faith in their integrity and their system
I used to be an advocate and actually had referred multiple other companies to them Talk about regrets

As of this moment we have not received ANY correspondence from FleetMatics. They have not tried to contact us or resolve this situation. They actually processed another fraudulent payment just days ago that we had to have our bank reverse. Our bank said they have never seen such blatant disregard from a business as they have repeatedly supplied all the documentation showing they should not be processing the payment which has resulted in reversal of charges month after month, and have advised us to contact our state attorney general as Fleetmatics should not be in operation due to their fraudulent practices. As a proud member of the Revdex.com I am ashamed that Fleetmatics is not only allowed to be accredited but they are graded at an A+ rating despite these and many other poor business practices which have resulted in a massive amount of complaints against them on both Revdex.com and other complaint sites. And now that I actually took the time to file the complaint after many hours of trying to resolve prior to, they blatantly lie and say, "We are working towards a resolution with this customer. We have reached out to them and will continue to try to satisfy their concerns." Is this a joke????

I have spoken with someone several times, even prior to the actual renewal date. I told him I did not want to renew. I never received any notifications or warnings that my contract had to be cancelled 90 days prior to renewal during this renewal year. That is a scam in my opinion to require a cancellation 90 days prior to renewal, especially without notification of the renewal. Again, I told him I did not want to renew BEFORE my actual renewal. This does not give your company much credibility for your product or service if you have to force someone to renew after they've completed their 3 year contract. I would never do business like that and would warn others of the same.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2015/04/14) */
The contract was in fact renewed, we are available to discuss. Please call us at your convenience.

Phoned Fleetmatics to speek to account rep about signing up for 3 more GPS devices and inquiring about lowering out costs. he stated he may lower it $1 or $2 dollars a month but that was the best he could. I told him we have quotes for 2 other companies, one coming in at half the cost I am currently paying. He said if we had a fleet of 500 he could go down to $10 a mo per vehicle. signed not a happy customer
