Review: Folsom Lake Honda Breach of Duty: I did everything I could to make an informed decision. First, Carfax report and when that showed no issues he proceeded to the next step a pre-purchase inspection or a PPI. Folsom Lake Honda performed the PPI on 2/14/2014 on a 2004 Honda Accord. I was advised, the car looked good and had only minor issues. The service advisor stated, the car had some minor repairs to the left front of the vehicle and the bumper had been repainted. He did not bother to mention that the mechanic had stated that there was an issue with the axle. Although, this information was available to the service advisor he never notified the client. I have owned Hondas for nearly 25 years had dealt with similar axle repairs and knew that these repairs are quite expensive ranging up to $1,100.00. The service advisor offered to mail the paperwork to me a Monterey Bay resident and so I proceeded with the purchase never knowing about the axle issue. After the sale was consummated I received the PPI paperwork included in the car. I was stunned to see the note about the axle issue. Upon contacting the service manager [redacted] at the dealership he was told that the dealer would only waive the cost of the PPI and nothing else. I then called Honda of America. They indicated that they would only act as a third party arbitrator between the two parties. It appeared nobody wanted to take responsibility for this issue. The car was brought into the Honda dealer in Salinas CA. The shop foreman inspected the Honda. ** has worked for Honda for 32+ years. He stated, that if we note a front end collision we place the vehicle on a rack and look at potential alignment issues. In this car, we can see both potential alignment and sub-frame damage at the point of impact the left front. For that to happen there would be a substantial impact that would have pushed back the wheel and that is not minor damage. In addition, it was clear the entire car had been repainted.Desired Settlement: If Folsom Lake Honda had provided the level of service we agreed to I would never have owned this vehicle it would have ended right there. The consequential damages which include bringing the car to Honda Specifications and repairing all salvage related issues with OEM parts. When trying to register the car it was determined that the car had been reported as salvaged to the DMV by an insurance company in 1/2013.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9948653, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

In addition I would add the following:

Upon further review by [redacted] at Folsom Lake Honda all issues have

been resolved. They took responsibility for creating a solution.

That solution was purchasing the car from us so that we would

not be the recipient of a car that we would have never purchased.

It takes a special kind of company to step up and own this kind

of issue and not run away from the problem. Thanks [redacted] and Folsom

Lake Honda!

Review: RE: Purchase of our 2014 Honda Odyssey EXL on 10-13-13. As we were about to walk out the door of Folsom Lake Honda, the sales manager handed us an offer we simply could not refuse. He stated, "We had a bad day yesterday and really want to make this sale." They bumped up the trade in price of our Sienna and added the 100k VIP warranty for half price to make the "out the door price with tax, license, extended warranty, etc." equal to $28,000 and some change. I don't have the exact dollar amount because they would not let us keep the paper with the offer. We put down $10,000, and signed all papers for 0.9% financing for what we agreed would be the remaining $18,000. Unfortunately, we were too trusting that all the numbers would be correct as the agreed upon final price and did not read the details of the contract carefully. After making 3 payments for the car, I noticed our statement said the "Pay Off Amount" is $21,642.42. That is well above the $18,000 we thought we had financed. After digging up our contract papers from Folsom Lake Honda, they wrote up papers over $4,000 MORE than they had written on the agreed upon offer! We not only feel stupid for not re-checking the numbers on the papers we signed, we feel absolutely DUPED by Folsom Lake Honda for adding that $4,000 to our purchase price after we shook hands on $28,000 "out the door." We severely regret having told all of our families and colleagues that Folsom Lake Honda had the best price and service after our October purchase. Little did we know that they were so dishonest and unethical adding $4,000 in hopes we would not notice the modification on final papers. Shame on us for falling for their tactic.Desired Settlement: Just write us a check for the $4,000+ that you added to our purchase price. That was what we shook on and we would have NEVER said yes to the rack rate for the van. All we ask is that you honor what we thought was a trusting transaction.

Response:

In regards to complaint ID [redacted] I am responding on behalf of Folsom Lake Honda. The guest one Ms.

[redacted] alleges we duped them of $4000.00 on the Odyssey they purchased from us. After review

of the documents associated with the purchase mainly the Conditional Sales Contract all final numbers

were disclosed and signed off by both the guest and Folsom Lake Honda.

Ms. [redacted] submitted an internet price Inquiry to us and we quoted her exactly what is stated on the

Conditional Sales Contract- Based on all records we have there is nothing to indicate any other prices. I

will enclose cop/es of the contract and the internet communications we had with Ms. [redacted].

I am very sorry for the confusion and hope this will clear this up. We appreciate Ms.[redacted] business

very much. Our goal is to always have an excellent experience for our guests and be pristinely clear on

all negotiations and final documents.

Any other inquires can be sent to myself directly. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: My complaint had nothing to do with the INTERNET pricing. I am referring to the price your salesmen offered us IN THE DEALERSHIP. They had a form that had their new numbers with their best offer yet. If you read my complaint carefully, that was explained in detail. We shook on the offer they showed us in the dealership, NOT the INTERNET price.

The Dealer was ripping me off. I took a vehicle to the repair shop and they charged me six hundred dollars for replacement of a new window regulator. I informed the service to return my old window regulator but they never did. The vehicle belonged to a relative of mine and three days later the dealer or honda financial services repo the vehicle because honda financial and folsom lake honda said the owner did not make a payment. The co-sign contacted folsom lake honda and financial center that they said they knew about the situation but they just wanted me to pay six hundred dollar for repair before repo it. I was not happy about the way they do their business ripping me off.

Review: There is a squeaking noise coming from the side bar where the safety belt is. The dealership has tried to service it twice. The third repair it made mo noise for several days then started to make noise again.Desired Settlement: The customer wants it fixed or to return the car

Response:

My name is [redacted]. I am the Service Manager at Folsom lake Honda. This customer purchased the vehicle from us. It is a new vehicle with the standard 3 year 36000 mile warranty provided by Honda Motor Corp. We have attempted to repair the noise twice and have contacted the Honda Technical Hotline to help us. They gave us a couple things to try, which worked for a short time. Then the noise returned. I put the Customer in touch with Honda Consumer Affairs and they arranged for a translator to help with the Mandarin-Chinese language. Today I received a new repair procedure from Honda to perform on this Odyssey. Honda will contact consumer today and instruct him to return to us to attept to repair vehicle. This is all handled through Honda and not Folsom Lake Honda. We are trying to help resolve his issue.

Review: Was lied to about the extent of my issue and attempted to charge me for unnecessary repairs. this was verified by another Honda dealer.

June 25th, my Accord began running poorly. Brought to Folsom Lake Honda. Was told all six spark plugs were fouled and needed replacement. I was told that they were special plugs and the replacement would be $299.00. I was surprised by the price and skeptical. The rep told me that the repair needed to be done immediately so as not to damage any other engine components. I asked why the plugs would foul all at once, wasn't that a syptom of some other problem? No he replied you'll just need to replace them again in another 30-60,000 miles. Three other shops told me that these plugs fouling are a very rare event. Told them not to repair the vehicle and brought car to Shingle Springs Honda. Upon inspection they informed me that only three were fouled and needed replacement. The other three were perfect. They also informed me that I had almost no oil in the crankcase and was surprised that FLH would not check the oil and also tell me all six plugs were fouled when only three were. Shingle Springs feels it may be an oil consumption issue and began an oil consumption watch on my car. They replaced the three plugs and did an oil change for less than FLH would charge. the rep at Folsom Lake was [redacted] whose arrogance and flippant attitude should be addressed.Desired Settlement: Revdex.com investigation into service matters at Folsom Lake Honda. Management should know about [redacted] behavior and attempts to overstate repair issues to glean more money from unsuspecting customers.

Mr. [redacted] 2010 Honda Accord came to us on June 25,2013 with a "check engine light" on and a complaint of a drivability concern that the engine was running rough when at a stop. We recommended a diagnostic service to find the cause of the light and the rough run condition. He agreed to the $135.00 fee for this and signed for the work to be done. Our Technician found diagnostic trouble codes in his vehicle of P0300 multiple engine missfires, P0302 #2 cylinder missfire and P0303 #3 cylinder missfire. We checked to see if the vehicle has the latest Honda software in its Computer...It did not. We performed the update at no charge to the customer as part of our diagnosis. We recommended replacing all of the spark plugs due to the multiple missfire codes and the age of the plugs and that the vehicle was operating under an older computer update. At this age of the spark plugs and given the circumstance, I would always recommend all spark plugs being replaced so another concern would not happen in the very near future. I know our diagnosis was correct as it was verified by Shingle Springs Honda. He chose not to do the repairs with us. If the customer wishes, we would be happy to refund the $135 he paid for our diagnosis and computer updates, but we stand by the professional manner in the service we provided.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Their response does not reflect the true circumstances of the situation. Shingle Springs Honda did not confirm their diagnosis. Shingle Springs disagreed with their findings and questioned their neglectfulness and overstating of the problem. Folsom Lake Honda claims they wanted to replace all the spark plugs due to age of plugs yet other facilities agree that those plugs rarely have problems with so little mileage as my vehicle had. Also, their service person clearly stated: "All six plugs are fouled and need to be replaced." We know that to be untrue and confirmed by Shingle Springs Honda. They've manipulated and omitted facts to appear as if they've handled my situation correctly. It's my word against theirs. It's unfortunate that they chose to handle this as they have. It only confirms my decision to do business elsewhere.

Final Business Response

Folsom Lake Honda is refunding the $135.00 the customer spent for diagnosis. It will be mailed to the customer within a week.

We experienced excellent/superior customer service and were treated with the utmost respect by all team members and management. Our sales person (Josh B[redacted]) was fair, honest, humble, and transparent throughout our car buying process. He was quite the exception to the traditional car salesperson stereotype one might expect to encounter. This was our second vehicle purchase with the dealer. We are loyal customers and highly recommend doing business here.

Review: Took my car in for an oil and filter change.Service adviser return and said I needed a new oil pan that the drain bolt came out with replacement threads.estimated cost of $800 ($400 labor, $400 parts).I requested the car back to the original status ( the way I brought the car in) and they cannot. The dealer claims they didn't have anything to do with this and that it is my problem. The dealer claims that the prior person over-tighten the bolt.I requested how do they know, dealer replied it happens all the time.Called Honda America and after weeks of phone tag they only restated what the dealer stated. "they had nothing to do with this".I was offered no options except to pay or take back the car.Desired Settlement: option 1: Return car back to the original state.option 2: I pay for parts at dealer cost and dealer installs parts (labor) at his cost no charge to owner.Option 3: offer alternative options.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] brought his 2001 Honda Insight with 221,281 miles to Folsom Lake Honda Service Department on August 02, 2014. His vehicle has never been in to our Service Dept. and I could not find a record of it being at another Honda Dealer according to Honda America. He requested an oil change. When we removed the oil pan drain plug, the threads from the oil pan came out with the plug. The only way this can occur is for the plug to be over-tightened in the previous oil changes. We use a special tool that controls how tight the plug goes in. Most all oil change place just use a wrench, which leads to this condition. My Service Advisor [redacted] and myself both explained this to Mr. [redacted].

He asked for alternatives to replacing the oil pan( which is the best way to repair his problem) I told him that there is an alternative. There is a time-sert which replaces just the threads in the pan and costs less than $90.00 in most places. We do not perform this repair in that it is somewhat temporary and I cannot guarantee this repair for my customers. I explained it is the cheapest way to go if that is what he was after.

We did not not damage his vehicle, but we're the ones to discover the damage that was done previously. If he had previous service performed at another shop, he should return there. The vehicle has been sitting in my lot for 27 days and we would like Mr. [redacted] to make a decision as to what he wants to do. Our estimate to replace the oil pan was $ 754.26 plus tax. Mr [redacted] has alternatives and should make a decision soon.
