I actually contacted them again and got in touch with [redacted] at the Metairie location.  Well first the girl who answers the phone told...

I am a member of French Riviera Spa. I am dissatisfied with the quality of service with my personal trainer. My personal trainer is minimally involved with my efforts to get in better shape. He routinely puts off my requests and does not help in terms of helping design workouts or diets. This gym's collection is handled by Paramount Acceptance. The customer service representative that I spoke with told me that I am unable to get out of my contract for the personal trainer unless I move, or am medically unable to train and will not cancel anything until there is paperwork to prove it. The customer service rep completely ignored the fact that I am highly dissatisfied with the service (or lack thereof) that I'm receiving at French Riviera and just repeated the information about moving or medical excuses. I explained to him that I would put a stop order on the payments to Paramount and he claimed that he was the one that handled those and that it would go to collections and hurt my credit. I don't appreciate these threats of credit rating damage and will resist any and all efforts to collect money from my bank account.Product_Or_Service: Personal TrainingDesired SettlementI want to have my contract for personal training services at French Riviera to be cancelled. I will be happy to maintain the gym membership, but I refuse to pay 128$ a month for poor personal trainer service.

Review: An employee by the name of [redacted] works for this location and handled me very unprofessional. I called and reported a complaint to the management team about [redacted] about a prior issue and management assured me it would be handled and that they would not tell him who actually made the complaint. A couple of hours later [redacted] called my PERSONAL cell phone to inquire about why I complained and if I had an issue with how he handled things with me. I explained to him I did and that I was no longer interested in what he was trying to sell me. Before I could say anything else, [redacted] hung up the phone in my face and not once did he apologize about how he made me feel. I felt violated by the management team as well because I specifically asked for my name to be kept out of the complaint and they just totally disregarded my concerns. Once my contract is up, I will no longer be a member of this gym and would not recommend this company to anyone else.Desired Settlement: no settlement is necessary

Review: I am a member of French Riviera Fitness in Marrero, LA. On January 14, 2015 I renewed my membership. I was talked into renewing for 24 months and they would give me an extra 6 months if I paid in full. I did pay in full to get the extra 6 months. In January when I went to the gym, there was a note on the door saying to go to a different gym that would except our card. I did try to go but parking was really bad, so I had no where to park. I called them and spoke to Dwan, which told me they were working on a solution to pay members back. This was January 14, 2016. I didn't hear anything for a while, so I called back February 2 and was told they still haven't come up with anything. I called again this month and still no solution. All I want is payment for one year. They don't seem to care. Even if I don't get payment back, I just wanted to let you know what is going on with this company. They do have all of my information but I don't ever hear from them unless I call them. Thank you for listening to my complaint.Desired Settlement: I paid a total of $395.00 in full for 2 years. I would like at least half of my money back.

Regards,

Company continues to charge and has not refunded since canceling 3 months ago.Product_Or_Service: Personal trainingDesired SettlementRefund and stop billing

Their cordova location closed. I signed a form to close account. The company continued to bill me & refused to refund me, or to return my calls. The French has been billing me for services I did not ask for or receive. This has been a recurring problem for 5-6 months. I have detailed banking statements. One week prior to the location closing I signed a cancellation policy with the manager. They have continued to debt my account $10 per month and said that "we know you have not wanted or used the service but [redacted] -there billing company had to way to re-reimburse. I'm able to take any payment form. Desired SettlementI want the company to credit me for all payments taken from me when the location closed. They owe me $60 dollars. [redacted] XXXXXX, [redacted] XXXXX. XXX-XXX-XXXX

Information was withheld about the month-to-month contract and false information was provided about autodraft.I signed up with the French under false pretenses. I was first told that I was paying $35 for two people, month-to-month, instad of the contract to avoid having to pay cancellation fees and being locked into a contract. This information was false because I called [redacted] to suspend autodraft and they told me that I would have to send in a 30 day written notice via email. I was told by [redacted] at the French that I could just call in to suspend autodraft. Second, I was charged a $60 fee that I was unaware of January 2016. I contacted [redacted] (rude) that told me to read my contract. I informed the young lady that I never received the electronic copy. I spoke with [redacted] at the French to explain my frustration and she stated she would inform her boss, Ms. [redacted]. Instead of Ms. [redacted] returning my call, the young lady who signed me up, [redacted] returned the call and explained that it's in the contract. I explained that I never received the copy. Finally, I attempted to suspend my relationship with the French and Parmaount informs me that I have to pay one month gym fee and $25/cancellation fee.Desired SettlementI have not used the facility since February and feel that I should not have to pay the month of March or April, nor should I have to pay $25 to cancel a month-to-month membership

Review: I cancelled my membership with this fitness club in February of this year. In June, I noticed that they were still charging me, so I again cancelled my membership with Ashley at the front desk in Metairie. I was advised that they would notify me of any additional billing via mail.In September, I started receiving phone calls from Paramount Acceptance out of Utah (the Parent Company for this fitness club). They claimed I now owed $40.66 and that I needed to pay it or be turned over to collections. I requested an explanation of the billing and why they expected me to pay that amount and the representative became rude, stating that she could not provide contract information over the phone. I asked for an actual bill and explanation via mail, and the representative hung up.Later that month, I received a letter from Paramount Acceptance stating I now owed $60.66. I again called and the representative Michelle, said that she would fix this issue and get back to me. No phone call back was received until Cara called about 3 weeks later and again tried to get me to pay $60.66. I told her I wanted an explanation of the additional charges and I wanted an explanation as to why my initial cancellation in February was ignored. I was told that $20.66 was for the final months billing and that $40.00 was for 2 months of failure to pay. I told her I wanted to speak to a manager but was told none was available.I asked for an actual letter explaining the charges and was told that they could not do that. I then explained that I would pay only the $20.66, but they again refused that. Eventually, Cara said she would accept $40.66 to close out the account. When I again asked for that in writing, I was told they could not do that. Then she agreed to send an email. An email was received a week later and it demanded $60.66.Desired Settlement: I would like my account closed with a zero balance, especially considering they managed to "lose" my February cancellation. It would also need to be in writing that I have a zero balance and that my account is closed. I would like for French Riviera/Paramount Acceptance to stop playing games with how they are attempting to extort money from customers.

Review: There have been many issues at the Laplace location that need to be addressed. First, the morning spin class was devastated when [redacted] left because in the morning. The Thursday Spin class was canceled. The Thursday Zumba class was canceled but [redacted] was coming back on Wednesday so that was awesome. Found out today that [redacted] was leaving and that the Wednesday class was canceled. [redacted] was terminated. All of the trainers who were there when we started are gone now. I have heard that Mr. [redacted] may be a part of the issue. I have an issue with him as well. My daughter wanted to check out the club. My wife brought her to Zumba. He charged her $20 but gave her no receipt. She joined a few weeks later. Then she brought her friend and I was going to pay the $20 but [redacted] told me there is no charge. SO I asked for a receipt for the $20 for when my daughter came but there was no record other then her sign in. Sounds fishy to me. Every time I come to the gym I am greeted by [redacted] or [redacted]. Mr.[redacted] has never offered me help on any machine or even told me hello. My wife and I pass up Snap Fitness and soon Anytime will be on the route to. I will not play politics at the gym. And now they have cancelled all classes to remodel. It was supposed to be for the weekend. When I went in today I had to hear the arguement from the trainers telling the people for the classes that they we cant afford to go to other gyms. [redacted] told me she saw my email bu no one has contacted me to try and tell me what is going on. It is pretty obviuos that management has made a decision to go to a all weight gym. My medical condition won't allow that. Since they wont communicate, I want out.Desired Settlement: At this point I would like my wife's, daughter's and my contract to be revoked and my $20 added to that and my balance refunded and we can just part ways.

Regards,

French Riviera Spa has just recently failed to honor it's original lifetime member contract(dated 1988) by requiring additional maintenance fees. For the past 25 years my husband and I have been members of the French Riviera Spa under "lifetime" contracts required a $5.00 yearly renewal fee. We have paid the fee sometimes years in advance and the company has accepted the fee and granted renewals. The account for [redacted](LEXXXXXX) is set to expire 08-09-15. My account(LEXXXXXX) is due to expire on 04-13-14. The first few years of payments were made to [redacted] corporation, the billing agency that sent out actual billing statements. After a few years, the statements simply stopped coming so we consistently paid our fees at our local spa locations. Just recently when my husband went in to renew our contracts, he was told that the company will charge us an additional $35.00 maintenance fee tacked on to each contract. This additional fee was never a part of our original contract(which we have copies of), nor has the company ever mentioned this until now.Over the years, our contract has been consistently honored by both parties: we have paid the yearly fee stated on the original contract and the spa has always accepted the payment. I realize that the wording of contracts has changed and customers have the opportunity to agree to the new required fees. Obviously, requiring an additional fee is a flagrant breech of our contracts. We are simply asking that the company honor our contracts by accepting the agreed upon annual renewal fee.Desired SettlementI know that our contracts with French Riviera Spa are unique in that these types of contracts are no longer used by health spas ( which benefit the buyer). This does not negate the fact there were many consumers who did in fact sign and adhere to the conditions on these lifetime memberships. These contracts should be honored! The settlement we are seeking is for the French Riviera Spa to continue to honor the contracts that we signed, which do not require the $35.00 yearly maintenance fee. Business' Initial Response RE: [redacted]Complaint # XXXXXXXX [redacted] can submit a copy of contract to attorney in (attached letter). In 1988, I joined French Riviera Spa buying a "Lifetime Membership".For 25 years my renewal fee has been $5 per year. Now they want to charge me $35!In 1988, I joined French Riviera Spa buying a "Lifetime Membership". For 25 years my renewal fee has been $5 per year. Now they want to charge me $35! I paid $25 five years ago, and went in today to pay $25 for another five years to find out the spa is charging a 'spa improvement fee'. This is a breach of contract. My Lifetime Membership stated 'no fees'... only $5 each year for LIFE!!! So it needs to stay $5 because I'm still alive!!!I'm told the spa has an attorney, as I'm sure they've had to get one for the 20 yr-plus members... what a way to say 'thanks!'.Sincerely,[redacted]ACCT - MELDXXXXXXXXXXRenewal Date 9/26/2013Desired SettlementI want my $5 per year membership to remain in effect, as it has been, for the other half of the rest of my life.Member Name: [redacted] (XXX)XXX-XXXXMembership Number: MELDXXXXXXXXXXRenewal Date: 09/26/2013French Riviera Office - 901-385-1098Paramount Acceptance - 800-748-4949 (who I paid)Business Response:Attached is the information for the additional fees added to the renewal amounts for ALL members. The Fee 's are Facilty Improvement Fees. Spoke to [redacted] representative [redacted] on 10/28/15, I was informed to email to his email address my reason for cancellation which would then be followed by a 30 day period of which I'd have to pay that month as well before the account is terminated. I was to be notified within 24 hours via phone of the email being received and a payment confirmation number. I was not contacted.I was charged the following month. I called and spoke to a [redacted] at the same location 11/24/15. No notes were made regarding my email, or cancellation efforts. He then told me he would alert [redacted] that same day about the issue, and I should expect a call back within the week.I never received a call back, and again 12/25/15 another bill posted and charged me.[redacted] moving that same day to [redacted] I couldn't address this issue with the money having already been taken from my account.I call [redacted] acceptance 1/12/16 after being Informed by a French Riviera customer of whom cancelled their account, that the email was to be sent to [redacted] acceptance, in order to address this issue. I am then told there have been no notes made since 10/28/15, and that I would have to send an email cancellation request that would post for 30 days, including paying yet another bill.I inform them of the misinformation and poor handling by French Riviera for the past 3 months, of which without having been handled poorly my account would have been terminated after the first month of efforts, and was told they have nothing to do with that and how it was handled by the gym representatives, and if I wish to cancel I must start over with the cancellation process. This month's charges are to include the bill, and a gym improvement fee of which I asked specifically upon joining if it was still existent and was told there was no improvement fee.I've been trying to terminate my acct since 10/28 and no notes are made of my efforts after talking to two representatives and sending the email, and now I'm expected to start this process over.Product_Or_Service: Gym membershipAccount_Number: XXXXXXXXXWDesired SettlementImmediate account termination

Review: Signing up with French Riviera Spa didn't require signing a written contract, but allowing the monthly fee to be deducted automatically from a major Credit Card. When I signed my son to the gym, I was told that I can cancel the membership anytime or any day without additional problems or fees being charged to my CC. Cancelling the membership required that you contact Paramount Acceptance Corporate Office and they would cancel your membership immediately upon request. I contacted their office on several occasions and left messages but never received a call back from them. Then I decided to email them requesting that they cancel my membership. After emailing them, I received a copy of a document via email that I have never seen, received or signed with my signature. This company is bound by law to show to me where I signed a contract that I agreed to on their terms. I only signed a contract that allowed them to deduct a monthly fee for their services.Desired Settlement: I wish to have no further contact by the business. To not attack my credit for refusing to pay a fee that I don't legally owe.

Review: I received a flyer in the mail about this Biggest Loser program it offered you lots of help with weight loss right, wrong they took your money introduced you to the program and left you to fend for yourself. There was no personal coach no one to supervise your workouts after the first week. They did nothing for the money I paid and now I have a automatic draft for payment for 36 weeks and according to their contract I would have to pay 199.00$ to get out of it even though they did not fulfill there agreement! I tried to contact the person who signed us up for the program [redacted] he never answers you get the same recording you got when you called to sign up for the program but then he was answering now that he,s got your money there is no answer. This is the number on the back of the contract [redacted] that I to inform them of dilemma. I am not sure about your previous question?Desired Settlement: I would like to continue to go to the gym but not under that program at the gym you can pay 19.00$ a month and workout on your own as oppose to 50.00$ a month for the same thing and that's because the biggest loser is just that a loser! They did not deliver on their promises. So they should give me $100.00 and then let me pay $19.00 monthly

I did speak with them however my complaint has not been resolve so I stop payment to them however they sent me a past do notice for my Payment believe I should not have pay for something I did not receive and I don't know what to do about that. Thanks

Sincerely,

I paid for a one time fee of $40.00 and my card is constantly being charged. I was signed up without consent. I only paid for a gift for someone else.when my boyfriend first went to the spa on elvis presley he was told it would cost only $40.00 and that was all and he would receive a comp pass for anyone who wants to use it. I said ok to paying the one time fee of $40.00. after checking my statement I found two charges for $38.00 each time. I called corporate in memphis, and they stated I had a membership. first of all there's no contract that I signed nor was told that my card would be charged a monthly fee. now they changed all employees and since now my boyfriend has been in a car crash; I called to complain and make sure nothing would be charged to my card. I asked for a refund because my card wasn't suppose to be charged. I found out that the sales rep put me down as a member without my knowledge. again I was only suppose to pay $40.00 as a gift. I never went or been to the spa. I asked them for a refund and was declined and she stated I have a 12 month term and I argue I shouldn't be charged due to da fact I wasn't suppose to pay nothing other than the $40.00. I had to change my cc to stop further transactions against my account. I really want my $76.00 back and this so called fradulant account closed.Desired Settlementmy $76.00 back and to close out this account under [redacted]Business Response RE: [redacted] Complaint #XXXXXXXX This complaint has been sent to our City Director and cancellation Dept. The contract is under review and a determination will be made no later than 11/15/13I will contact Ms. [redacted] on or before that date to update status of membership. [redacted] R. [redacted]Office ManagerMemphis, TNXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXX-XXXXfrs logoConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I don't accept because 11/15/13 has passed. I'm wondering did she mean 12/15/13? Also, she didn't mention my refund for the funds I didn't authorize.

Review: French Riviera closed the Berhman Hwy location that my wife and I had been active members for over 2 years. I renewed our contract in February of 2014. No one told us that they were loosing customers and that they were going to cut the hours of operation. I paid $200 up front and agreed to pay monthly $23.33 for each of us ($46.66 a month) for the year and next year I would have zero payments. Then they cut the hours to the gym we normally attend and told us they are closing. So we decided to give the Lapalco location a try. It has been two weeks and we are not satisfied with this location. On more than one instance my wife was told not to scan her card when she entered the gym. I was never greeted by anyone. Mostly the hours do not fit my schedule and the location is not nearly as convenient as the other one. The gym is smaller with fewer machines and my wife was advised by her doctor to use the sauna to relieve tension in her shoulder. This location has neither a sauna or steam room. My wife liked the classes that were offered at the Berhman location because of the diversity of options. We both want to cancel our contract for the reasons above and I want to be reimbursed.I called and emailed their 3rd party billing company (Paramount) and had no problem with them contacting me. I was told to contact [redacted] at the Metairie location. I did on several occasions and never had a call back from her. Finally [redacted] told me that [redacted] can't cancel my membership and that I have to contact French Riviera directly. I went to their website and filled out the contact me information. That was 2 weeks ago and no one has contacted me regarding my membership.Desired Settlement: I want my, my wife's and our friend [redacted]'s (who we convinced to join to work out with us) contracts void and canceled. I want to be reimbursed for the money I paid in advance for next year's memberships.

Sincerely,

I signed a contract for 3 months personal training sessions at $120.00 per month. I'm still being charged as my contract was fraudulently renewed. On 4/2/13 I signed up for 3 months of personal training @ $120/mo with [redacted] at The French Riviera Spa. I paid $120 cash that day for the first month, leaving a balance of $240 divided by 2 more payments. My account was drafted by Paramount Acceptance for $120 on 5/9/13 and $120 on 6/7/13, which full-filled my obligation. My account was again drafted on 7/8/13. I looked into the matter and spoke with regional manager ([redacted] discovered my contract had been renewed by the same person who first signed me [redacted] and that my signatures on the contracts did not match. She also said you have to renew in person, which I did not do. I did not renew a contract. Also, she said the gym sales rep should not be accepting cash payments, which they insisted I go to an ATM and come back with the first payment in cash. I do have my copy of the contract/receipt and [redacted] T has a copy of the fraudulent contract on her computer.Desired SettlementI need to be refunded the $120.00 drafted from my account on 07/08/2013 as I had already full-filled my financial obligation and did not authorize this payment nor any changes to my contract.
