Garden OB/GYN Reviews (24)

Review: I visited Garden Ob/Gyn on Feb **, 2013 for an annual PAP exam. Before being taken into the exam rooms, I filled out applicable health forms and provided my insurance card. I was taken into the exam room, took the PAP exam and then offered an [redacted] that was "covered by my insurance". I opted for the [redacted] blood test thinking there would be no cost. On 6/**/13 I received two invoices from Sunrise Medical Labs (the lab associated with Garden Ob/Gyn) in the amounts of $370.80 and $1169.00. A few weeks after I tried to contact someone at Garden Ob/Gyn. I explained my issue to various employees and was redirected to other depts/offices numerous times. By the time I was finally able to to get in touch with someone I had received three notifications for each of the invoices. After explaining my situation over the phone with [redacted] from the collections department, I emailed her copies of my invoices on Aug*. After following up a few times, she finally got back to me on Aug. ** with an explanation that my insurance did not cover the fees. The same day I emailed back and explained to [redacted] that after receiving the bills it was apparent that my insurance didn't cover the fees; my argument was that had I known I was going to be charged $1169 for an [redacted] blood test, I would not have opted to take the test. I was not [redacted] (which can be verified through the Q&A notes taken prior to my annual exam) and had no reason to pay a ridiculous fee for an [redacted] test. Since then I have followed up once and have not heard back. That was 11 days ago. Now my first invoice of $370.80 is in collections and I feel is affecting my credit (which I have also expressed). I also have a record of all email correspondence which I can send over if needed.Desired Settlement: To have the company waive the invoice of $1169. I would be willing to pay to the $370.80 since that cost was associated with the PAP exam.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Garden OB/GYN at Manhattan regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: I started going to Garden OB/GYN for prenatal care in April 2014. When I started my visits my health insurance coverage did not start yet so I had to pay out of my own pocket. They had told us for us to continue getting prenatal done with them we would have to make a large deposit about a 1/3 of the cost of cost of doing our pregnancy there. We made the deposit thinking my insurance will reimburse us after. When my insurance they started. They started billing our insurance. We did not realize until after we tried to get reimbursed from insurance that they were not the ones who owed us the refund. Garden OB/GYN got paid twice once from us and then from the insurance company. I called the billing department to try and sort it out. The lady I spoke said they owe us a refund. It would take 6 weeks for them to cut us a check. We still have not gotten a refund and 12 weeks later we are still getting the run around. Its not right for them to receive payment twice for the same work and even say anything. Its been 7 months since we intially paid them. There practices are unethical and they need to be investigated. This could have to many other people and they just got away with it.Desired Settlement: I would like to get refunded the money we had over paid.

The waiting is terrible. Here for 3 hours and still haven't gone in. Waiting in a room for 1 1/2 hours alone. Unacceptable

Review: I had an appointment at this office in July 2013. It was 90 degrees outside and 100 degrees in the waiting room. There was no air conditioning and over an hour wait time. Once I got to the exam room, the assistant collected my urine and wasn't wearing gloves. There were assistants/nurses coming in and out of my room without knocking while I was undressing. The curtain wasn't closed and I felt very uncomfortable. The assistants kept coming in to ask the other assistants questions and asking to switch rooms. Very unorganized. I requested a female doctor and was told she only works weekends. The ultrasound technician was very rough and I had a painful vaginal ultrasound. She didn't even help me clean up. I had gel all over my dress, thighs and stomach. The worst part of my whole experience was doctor [redacted]. I was taken to his office and the lights were off. He came in and asked me when my last period was. I said April **. He said I have in your files May ** and I said well it was April **. He says well you're file says May ** and I know you want an abortion. I said EXCUSE ME???? My name is [redacted], you obviously have the wrong file. On top of that he gets a pamphlet from the floor and tells me I can eat hot dogs and hamburgers if I want. My total time in the office was 3 hours and all they told me was that I'm 5 weeks pregnant- information that I already knew. Charged me $1700. $342 which is my responsibility. For the serious negligence and unacceptable/unexceptional service, I do not think I should be responsible for this bill. If [redacted] gave me the abortion bill, we would be in court right now. I have never been treated so poorly at a gynecological office. My sister goes to the office in garden city and never did she experience this.Desired Settlement: I was seriously mistreated from start to finish and would like my copayment of $342 waived.

Response:

Patient was seen at the end of June by one of our clinicians in our facility. As per patient's consultation with the doctor, she didn't specify the correct doctor's name she met with.

Regarding her concern about the refund ,our billing department

has already resolved this issue with the patient. As you

know this is an ob/gyn and we have emergencies come through the door on a daily basis, which would result in patient's wait time to be increased. Every patient's problem is different and we can not control or predict how long a patients appointment will take, but we make sure their health issues are followed properly by our clinicians. Patient's care is a serious matter in our practice, so we make sure they take the best of medical care and they are not being rushed during their appoinments.

Thank you
