With regard to the brick issue cited earlier, that was settled several months ago to the customers satisfaction. We have investigated the issue of the appraisal fee and it came to light that one of our sales associates erroneously made a inference to the customer that we would handle the fee for the reappraisal, which would normally be the responsibility of the customer. Because of the commitment from our sales associate, we will honor that commitment and reimburse the customer for the cost of the reappraisal. This will be conveyed to the customer..

I am rejecting this response because:
While Mr. [redacted] was supposed to be an independent appraiser, he received his information about the gate from Gehan and delivered the appraiser to Gehan's financial company.  The language was in several appraisals within the community--not just ours--even a year later.  If the appraiser was truly independent, the language would not have repeated itself.  Providing funds to the HOA to determine whether or not we should have a gate is acceptable, but it is disheartening to hear that Gehan accepts no responsibility in the misinformation provided to the appraiser and to us as buyers. At least three other homes were sold with this information included. This feels deceptive and inconsistent with the values we thought Gehan stood on. We will file a complaint on the appraiser, too, we hoped Gehan would step up to the plate and honor the information they provided.

I am rejecting this response because: the response does not meet my documented evidence of what should be standard in my home. In none of the paperwork or descriptions is Gehan's explanation made clear. The documentation I have from the builder's design center clearly states that the light fixtures in the master bath would be four lightbulb fixtures. I do accept the business' response to the sink tray issue and will look forward to receiving the correct product.

Gehan Homes will agree to waive the $350 upgrade fee for this customers brick selection (Group 2 - Desert Pass). I hope this is an amicable solution to this situation. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: I believe that the practices of this company are deceptive and the salesperson was not clear about the fact that earnest money is not returned. I believe that the company would act in good faith to provide the customer with examples in the form of a model home or at the very least pictures of the standard options that come with a house. I understand that I signed the contract and regret that I did so. I do not believe that this company has good customer service and that they disclose what you are signing at the time the contract is issued. I am considering whether to pursue this issue in small claims court to try to get my earnest money returned to me. I'll be speaking with my lawyer to determine my next course of action.

I am rejecting this response because:This response to our letter is so ridiculous! Information mentioned in response is not true. Gehan Homes is exactly in the business of keeping buyer’s earnest money. There was no communication barriers between realtor, us and Gehan Homes. [redacted] was playing his game on both sides. He was telling us that our realtor is giving us bad advise and at the same time was trying to push our realtor (by texting her) to sell his house. He was offering her bigger commissions on the next home she will sell from Gehan Homes. Gehan Homes mentioned in response that sales consultant was willing to give 100% of her commission towards our closing cost which is total lie. She was giving us $3,650 which is not 100%. Sales consultant was also pushing our realtor to sell her house, so she can get commissions, not someone else. On the end Gehan Homes blaming our realtor for everything which is not professional at all! [redacted] didn’t have guts to admit that his team in Alamo Ranch community messed up in the house and didn’t install correct items. I advise all buyers to check Selection Sheet on inventory home, or they will be short-cut and will pay for things that not in the house! This is how Gehan Homes make there money! Little-by-little they make thousands of dollars by lying! When you ask Gehan Homes to provide particular papers on the house to see what you are paying for, there answer will be: “This is an internal paperwork and not for buyers eyes. You shouldn’t have Selection Sheet in your hands.” Any other builder in town provides Selection Sheet with all details before you even think about signing contract. Obviously, this is not the case with Gehan Homes, you have to constantly ask for papers. Please, customers pay attention to Gehan Homes preferred lender - Brook Hollow Mortgage. This company will twist anything to approve for the loan to make money from you. They cleverly play with numbers and eventually you will pay all there fees. They also get in to the system and broke your confidentiality by getting into your business. That is true that Gehan Homes is long away from been perfect company. There response twisted all facts. Obviously, company not learning from previous mistakes (you can see 23 complains on Revdex.com site). Complains are pretty similar, all pointing to companies dishonesty. This response is unacceptable. I want Gehan Homes to take responsibility for there actions! I want my earnest money back! Why company thinks after all this disrespect from there employees I will be having business with them? I never going to build or buy inventory house from Gehan Homes, they stole my earnest money. I am ok to pay for honest customer service, in this case Gehan Homes, there employees wasn’t honest with us. It will be right for them to give us our money back.If I have an accent and I am an immigrant it doesn’t mean you have to take advantage of me!

We regret that Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] were not able to complete the purchase on the home. The home was to close prior to the end of April, but the purchaser was not prepared with approved financing and loan documents that are needed to close on a property.
In reference to their comment about...

the city permit, the home was complete and would have been prepared to close by 4/30. When we were informed that their loan was not ready, we opted not to install the appliances and get the last required inspection. This was done to protect the new equipment from damage; in no way delaying the closing on our end.
We worked with the buyers to allow them to close on the home in May and pay the applicable late fees as required by the sales contract they signed. It became clear on the 15th, the information we were receiving about their loan continued to be vague and/or erroneous. The decision was then made to terminate the sales contract and offer the home for sale.
We will be refunding all of the deposits paid by Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted]. We welcome them to purchase another property from us provided they have confirmed financing in place that meet the contract requirements. We are in the process of processing their refund.

We regret that our customer feels that the granite sample as shown is not the one that was used in the selection of the granite at the design center. That is why we are bringing the actual sample out to the home so that the customer can see the sample in person and confirm that is the same sample that is shown in the photo of the selections when they were chosen. I believe the meeting has been set up for 5:30 this afternoon. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:The photo Gehan is trying to pass off as the Granite selection I made is false. They sent me the same photo and tried to tell me it was taken the day I made the selection and that it was the physical sample I chose. That is a lie. The time / date stamp photo on the photo they provide was dated 03/06/15. I was physically present in the design center to make my selections a month prior to when their photo was taken. Attached is the photo I took when I was at the design center with all of my kitchen selections. As you can see, the granite is vastly different from what Gehan is trying to pass off as my selection. I paid cash for this counter top and did not get it. Also attached is my signed and dated contract showing I was present and paid cash in February, not March as their picture alleges. I have never experienced such wretched customer service. Gehan is blatantly lying about the photos they took and it is unacceptable.

I am rejecting this response because: Gehan has not strived to make this process smooth. Gehan does not work quickly to repair their mistakes. They lied about closing date, Gehan would have set the incorrect brick on the entire house had I not brought that to their attention. In fact as of 5/7/17 they still had not removed the incorrect brick. On April 25, 2017 I was offered my whole refund of 12,945 by [redacted], when I called back May 1, 2017 to let him know I was not moving forward with the house all of a sudden the offer was not there. Gehan's lack of integrity and their business practice has been based on deceitful acts, lying to customers and withholding their money.
