Geico Corporation Reviews (1925)

Review: I had dropped my wife from my insurance policy (# [redacted]) in July 2013. GEICO subsequently issued my wife a policy which she did not request and when she did not respond to the policy, the policy was cancelled and the amount due on the policy was turned over to a collection agency. I called GEICO to rectify the matter and that they were not willing to cancel the charges turned over to the collection agency without her contacting them. I told GEICO that I was not in amicable ter** with my wife and that they needed to cancel the charges because my wife never authorized this policy. If they want to confirm that she has another policy all they need to do is check with DMV. Instead, GEICO is forcing me to create a document and submit it to them before they remove this charge and stop the collection agency from harrassing me at my house for this charge that my wife did not incur.Desired Settlement: I want these billing charges dropped and the collection agency from harrassing me about this bill. Also, I would like an apology from GEICO for my inconvience and the poor customer service I received.

Review: I contacted this business on their web site and by phone regarding a insurance quote. They quoted $73.62 both by email and on the phone. I called them to start my policy and he talks up the policy told me I would be saving half of what I am paying right now. It wasn't until AFTER he asked me for my credit card number did he say sorry the price changed to $122 per month. They were trying to hold a wreck against me that happened 4 years ago and by law they're only supposed to count that for 3 years. I told them to cancel the policy and he began to try to tell me I couldn't and try to get me to keep it. I won't know until my statement comes out if I was charged or not. I was mislead by this company and something needs to happen to them for this.I told themDesired Settlement: I want to pay the $73.62 per month as I was promised and an apology for being lied to or mislead. If they're not going to honor what they offered me in the beginning then I want them to stop contacting me by email and phone

Review: I was involved in an accident. This company is now stating I do not have the coverage that I specifically asked for.

Geico dropped my comprehensive coverage without authorization from the policy holder. The accident I was involved in broke my windshield and now they do not want to cover me. They gave me 3 different dates of when coverage was taken off, yet can't produce any proof. Now I can't get my car fixed and they are still collecting premiu**.Desired Settlement: I offered their president [redacted] 2 options to resolve. 1. Place comprehensive back on my plan and retro activate it so that I may get my car fixed.

2. Refund ALL of my payments from 2012 to current so that I may get my car fixed and get another insurance company.

These are the only two acceptable options.

Dear **. [redacted]:

Thank you for your letter of March 2, 2014, regarding **. [redacted]’s claim. We have researched the records associated with the policy in question. Our records indicate the policy was bound November 28, 2008 to be effective November 29, 2008 by [redacted]. On March 25, 2009, **. [redacted] was added to the policy to be effective March 26, 2009. The 2006 [redacted] which was involved in the above mentioned loss was added to the policy on April 1, 2009 to be effective April 2, 2009 which included Comprehensive, Collision, Emergency Road Service and Rental Reimbursement Coverage. Our records also indicate that Comprehensive,Collision, Emergency Road Service and Rental Reimbursement Coverage were removed from the policy by the customer via an internet

transaction on November 10, 2012. A credit in the amount applied to the account accordingly in the amount of $95.06. We have not received any premium payments for these coverages since the change was made. The change in question was made from IP address [redacted]. There have been previous logons, including payments, made from the same IP address. The e-mail address associated with the change is [redacted].

Based on the above information, we are unable to afford Comprehensive, Collision, Emergency Road Service or rental reimbursement.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact [redacted], Regional Liability Director, at ###-###-####, extension [redacted].

Very truly yours,

Geico and its employees are scam artists in collusion with glass repair companies having solicitors come to my house and tell me I have damage to my windshield they could cover when I apply for a glass waiver. I applied for the waiver - PAID FOR THE WAIVER - and received zero service. I still have the same chipped and cracked windshield that's supposed to be covered for free in the state of Az. Geico refused to give me service or a refund - only crediting me the difference for the month. Stealing money from a paying customer of 2 years - THAT'S a d[redacted] shame.

Review: I filled a accidental claim for collision on my 2001 [redacted] pickup that involved only the vehicle on 9/12/2014. I then called Geico to file the claim they gave me an appointment for 9/16/14 to take in to Collision Center in [redacted],Texas to meet with the adjuster. We met on 9/16/14 with adjuster Noe E[redacted] he took pictures of the truck and the vehicle was left at the shop. Two days 9/18/14 later we get a call that they are going to give us 3,600 for repair, the following day 9/19/14 he calls and says that it has to be a total loss.

Our truck had a mileage of 128000 with the impact the odometer changed to 316000 miles we took them proof of years of oilchange record where it states mileage they will not valdate because it only has license plate number not vin number. Geico took the truck to [redacted] to have the computer checked where they determine that the at impact cluster internal damage or ecm internal damage. Now because of the mileage that the truck is showing they devaluiated our vehicle. There has been alot of contradictions with Geico adjuster, on 9/24/14 we recieve a call from the adjuster stating that we were right the mileage of the truck is in fact 130000 the following day 9/25/14 adjuster calls stating that they made a mistake and that the truck has 316000 miles and that we had to go in today to pickup the check and take in the title. I call him back trying to get information on where he took in the truck he says he does not have time and hungs up the phone on me. I feel I have been treated like a liar, unfair after taking them our proof. I just want what is fair and treated equally.Desired Settlement: I feel they should pay me what is fair for the damage on vehicle.

May 20, 2014Dear **. [redacted]:This will acknowledge receipt of your May 18, 2014 inquiry regarding the above referenced private passenger automobile insurance policy. Our records indicate that effective August 21, 2013 the insureds son ([redacted] .) was no longer rated as an active driver on the above policy since he obtained a policy of his own as of the same date. His status was changed to that of other insurance, which resulted in a prorata premium reduction of 22.00 for the policy period in question. Effective May 10, 2014 his status was changed from other insurance to that of cancelled as per the insureds May , 2014 internet request. There was no change in premium as a result of the May 10, 2014 status update.Since there appears to be no valid complaint against GEICO, we ask that this be removed from our record. If you require further assistance with this matter, please contact the undersigned at ###-###-####.Very truly yours,

Review: I had a policy with geico auto insurance that cancelled out on 6/22/2013. On 6/28/2013 I contacted the company to re-instate the policy and talked to [redacted] and was advised I would have to pay $82.04. I authorized this. I told the rep that I couldn't have my due date on the first anymore and needed it changed to be on the fifteenth. She told me that wouldn't be a problem and I would have a payment coming out on 7/15/2013 and that it would be a partial payment for $85.01 since it was only half a month. I agreed to this. Then on 7-1-2013 the payment for $82.04 and a payment for $177.39 (full month of insurance) was taken out of my account. I NEVER authorized the payment for $177.39 to be taken out on 7/1/2013 as I had requested a change to the bill cycle date and was told that a payment would be coming out on 7/1/2013. It caused another bill on my account to not be paid and I recieved a non-suffiecient funds fee of $30.00. I contacted the company Geico to advise them of this error. They refused to listen to the call to verify I had been given wrong information. A supervisor [redacted] told me they couldn't believe that I wouldn't be advised of this basically calling it my fault and cancelled my policy for me. They refunded the $177.39 that was incorrectly taken out. They wouldn't let me speak to a higher level of management and literally told me "no" when I asked. I'm disgusted. I'm going with another insurance agency but I have never been treated so horribly by a company.Desired Settlement: I want my $30.00 for the non-sufficient funds fee I received on my bank account due to their error in processing a payment I didn't authorize to be refunded.

Dear [redacted]:

Review: I have a Personal Articles policy with Geico. This policy when up for renewal was sent to an old address and was subsequently returned a few times until it eventually made it to my attention. Once received, there was a late charge on the account. I went ahead and paid the full amount (including the late charge) and it seems that because of timing issues, that payment didn't make the cutoff so once again, another late charge was issued on this account. My wife called Geico explaining the situation and asking them to waive the late charge, but the representative did not agree to do so. It seems that they are taking advantage of a situation and not refusing to handle this in a fair manner.Desired Settlement: I am asking for a waiver of all late fees charged against this policy given the circumstances.

Dear **. [redacted]:

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your letter of complaint addressed to the Revdex.com. I apologize for any confusion as it speaks to the billing on your Personal Articles Floater policy. After review of same, your billing account, attached for your review which also includes the billing for your homeowner policy (recently cancelled), reveals that there was one late charge assessed to your PAF policy as it seems you had moved and we did not have your most current mailing address. There was never two late charges assessed on this policy; please review the attached billing breakdown for your account. Unfortunately, we will ne be able to refund the one late fee that was assessed to your account.

Review: When purchasing coverage, roadside assistance and rental car coverage was discussed and purchased. When recently in a situation in which these services were needed, additional terms and restrictions applied that were not shared with me at time of purchase. Additionally, several (6) Geico representatives were not able to provide specific details of my coverage. Specifically, the sales representative indicated that Geico would make all arrangements for towing and rental car. However, they will not make arrangements for towing on restricted roadways which include several major interstates in New York. Additionally, Geico will only arrange for rental car coverage from [redacted] and not from any other provider. If [redacted] locations are closed, they do not provide any rental car assistance. These terms were not disclosed at time of purchase and may have impacted my purchasing decision. When requesting a list of roadways on which Geico would arrange towing service, I was told to "Google it".Desired Settlement: Provide an exhaustive list of all terms, conditions, and restrictions within my coverage regarding roadside assistance (towing) and rental reimbursement. Provide a list of roadways in New York state for which Geico would arrange roadside assistance and roadways for which I would be responsible for making my own arrangements and submitting for reimbursement. Provide complete reimbursement process and policy.

Review: My fiance and I bought a new home and chose to have Geico Home Insurance Comapny [redacted], Policy Number [redacted]) insure our new property. We had a professional inspection done and were told there were no issues with the home and passed the information along to Geico in order for them to insure our home. They accepted us and we paid them the annual premium and therefore closed on our house with no issues a week later.

After living in our home for a week we received a letter in the mail stating our insurance was being canceled for vacancy as well as a double layer roof. I think my major concern with this entire issue is why were not informed of this being an issue with the company before we paid the premium. I then called Geico on January 22 and spoke with [redacted] and was informed in order for them to cover us we would need to purchase a new room in less than a month. These practices are unethical and unprofessional. I feel we were manipulated and then were handled poorly by their customer service.

After canceling both our car and home insurance due to their lack of honest and ability to follow through on their commitment/contract we were told we would receive our reimbursement checks in 3-5 business dates. This would have been January 29th at the latest and now it is February 4th. Once again I am extremely upset with how this issue has been handled and wanted to report it to ou guys with the hopes that other customers would be treated with the respect and honesty they deserve.Desired Settlement: I want Geico to be informed that their policy is unethical in the hopes that this does not happen to someone else. And most importantly I want to receive my reimbursement checks so I can follow through with my other insurance company that has treated with the respect I deserve.

Review: I got in an accident Nov.27 much to my dismay geico changed my policy to a liability only policy well my car was suppose to have full coverage and it did when I first got it then Geico informed me I needed an inspection where did that come from? After fighting and complaining I finally got them to fix my car after a month and a half of waiting at one point the clai** adjuster said it was a hopeless cause very rude and also sent me a letter saying I should have not stored my vehicle in a tow yard that cost so much money it cost so much because it sat there for 30+ days. I told them to backdate my insurance to full coverage. Once they did that they just sent me a bill for 1.742.11$ FOR THERE MISTAKE OF NOT FULLY COVERING MY CAR. I lost a month of my life failed out of that semester of college and owe lots of money and now geico wants me to pay them for their mistake. The billing agent was really nice he told me I could pay 1742.11$ at one time or renew with their bad quality service and only have to pay 700-750$ a month for car insurance just til august no big deal. Yeah that is a big deal geico you made a huge mistake own up to it and zero out my balance and let me move to another insurance company because in the 6-7 months I've had geico all I've had is proble** and nothing but greedy adjusters trying to make back the money for their mistake on my insurance policy I lost my schooling for that semester I have a child on the way and I'm working on getting my own place because the finical stump that geico has put me through I have to live in an efficiency [redacted] with my parents to anyone looking to purchase insurance from geico if you get in an accident when it's freezing rain and your coming back from your commute from school then you wreck your car not on purpose but because you we're put in a situation that made driving without swerving all over because school up north doesn't close for anything specially college prepare to get the run around for a month and a ridiculous bill seriously geico it's called owning up to your mistake not even the richest of rich would pay that amount for car insurance and no one in my class has 1742.11$ just laying around that money I could be using to provide for my family and getting a trailor or something cheap to live in with my pregnant girlfriend and I can start our lives instead of having all these set backs that lead to one source and one source only geico practicing bad business and overcharging the not so well to do class I get just enough money to pay my bills and save up for the move out which probably isn't going to happen if this doesn't get settled then when my child is born what am I to do geico should I starve my unborn child because your taking food out of their mouth my future child isn't even born yet but it's probably not going to make it because you have to charge me these ridiculous fees for your mistake own up take responsibility I starve myself a lot just so my girlfriend can eat well so we have a somewhat healthy child in the long run my background and living situation doesn't matter to geico they want me to starve and for me not to be able to take responsibility of my child but don't worry folks I'm better than geico I'll weigh next to nothing by the time this is through if geico decides this is what they want to do to me and my family because money is the name of the game and customer service and owning to your mistakes is not their problem it's mine apparently but I'll tell geico this if I have to sell everything I own just to keep up with my child I will because I own up to my responsibility why can't you and if you think this is a hoax I have paperwork, sonagra**, and a whole bunch of other legal documents I can fax at any given time to any number I don't want to re knew my policy and I don't want to pay for their mistake someone in the billing team should have caught it and billed me the full amount during those periods of back pay because one thing I can't do is turn back time and throwing a large amount of money like that at me is ludacris and the month I was without a car I lost a lot of stuff and all my bills are at least a month behind because I was unable to work and commute to class due to lack of transportation and on a final note I was in the military for four years thank you for your service yah right more like thank you for your money, your life, your happiness and your future because that is what they have taken away from me because of this ridiculous amount of money they are charging me.Desired Settlement: Zero out my balance finish fixing my car and let me get on with my life and take my business elsewhere I don't have time in my busy day to call and scream at geico agents

Dear **. [redacted]:

Thank you for your February 3,2014 e-mail regarding [redacted]'s complaint. **. [redacted] asked that I respond on his behalf and I welcome the opportunity.

Please refer to our response to **. [redacted]’s prior complaint under Revdex.com file number, [redacted]. When, on 12/31/13, we made the business decision, to honor [redacted]’s request and provide coverage for his 11/26/13 accident, my associate, [redacted], called **. [redacted] and advised him of our decision. **. [redacted] also explained we would have to retroactively add the appropriate coverages to cover the claim and that we would mail an adjusted billing statement reflecting the additional premium for the coverages. **. [redacted] told **. [redacted] he was happy with our decision but would not be able to pay the entire premium at one time. **. [redacted] asked him to call our twenty-four hour Customer Service Department when he received the billing statement and we would be happy to arrange a special payment plan to allow him to make reduced payments over a longer time span. **. [redacted] said lie would do that.

**. [redacted] spoke to **. [redacted] yesterday, February 4, 2014. **. [redacted] was upset and told **. [redacted] that instead of a smaller amount we had debited the entire premium from his mother’s checking account. He also requested we refund the money and provide the coverage at no cost to him. **. [redacted] reminded **. [redacted] of their 12/31/13 conversation, captioned above. **. [redacted] said his mother made the premium payments and he bad told her she had to call GEICO to arrange for the payment plan referenced above. **. [redacted] told **. [redacted] his mother had said she would call us but had forgotten to do so; thus, resulting in the large debit from her account **. [redacted] explained we could not refund the money and that it would be illegal to provide him with insurance coverages at no cost. **. [redacted] was still not happy but said he understood and would explain the situation to his mother.

I hope this information has been helpful. Please contact **. [redacted], at ###-###-####, extension [redacted]. if you have further questions regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

Review: I signed up with Geico starting January 1 for insurance at a rate of $586.2. My wife is Canadian and has a Canadian license, but Geico accepted her license normally.

On Feb 4th, I received a cryptic email stating that I had 5 days to send in my wife's "missing US license" and that my premium would go up to $705.30 if not received.; at the same time I received a letter in the mail with the same message.

I called to remind Geico that my wife was Canadian (and has no US license) and was told that I needed to obtain a Canadian driver record and send it in, at which time any additional premium which they collected would be REFUNDED FULLY. There was NO MENTION of any deadline in sending in this information.

I duly followed the process to obtain the record (it takes about a 3 weeks - 1 month minimum) and sent it into Geico, followed by calls to customer service to be sure they had processed it. Geico refunded only $55.27, claiming that I had missed the 5 day deadline they had set on Feb 4th, COMPLETELY IGNORING both the fact that it was physically impossible for me to obtain the record in that time and that customer service had previously told me it would be fully refunded without mention of any sort of deadline.

I have since called customer service multiple times, each time they admit to "mis-communicating" and acknowledged that there was no way I could meet the original deadline, but they still refuse to honor the correct premium and refund the money.

This behavior by a major company is an overtly egregious breach of contract, to say nothing of customer trust or basic customer service. The key facts are these:

1) Geico NEVER COMMUNICATED INITIALLY that they needed a driver record

2) When they did communicate and provided a 5 day deadline, the deadline was completely impossible to hit, as Canada requires about a month to send the materials

3) A customer service rep EXPLICITLY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE AMOUNT WOULD BE REFUNDED WHEN THE DOCS WERE RECEIVED

4) Geico NEVER MENTIONED a deadline after which I would not receive a refund on the overcharged premium

5) Customer service ADMITTED TO ME ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THAT GEICO ERRED IN NOT COMMUNICATING THIS REQUIREMENT EARLIER AND THAT THE DEADLINE GIVEN ON FEB 4th WAS UNATTAINABLE

There is no possible rational explanation for not refunding the money, and the fact that I have to resort to a Revdex.com complaint saddens me greatly and leaves incredible doubt as to Geico's dedication to or even basic interest in its customers. This money was taken initially based on errant facts and when those facts were corrected, refusing to return the full amount is simple stealing and a clear breach of contract.Desired Settlement: Geico must refund the remaining $63.83 outstanding from the original $119.10 which it incorrectly and unethically extracted from my account

Review: I am a policy holder with Geico Insurance and have been for a few years now. I was in an accident on September 12, 2013 (with claim number, [redacted]), and the other driver's insurance did not immediately take fault for the accident, causing me to file a claim through my insurance company. After the damages were repaired on my vehicle, I had to cover the deductible. I was told that I would receive a refund on my deductible once the other insurance company accepted fault. It was my experience that while Geico paid for the damages, they did not do all they could to recover the funds. The person responsible for recovering my funds in a timely manner identified herself as [redacted]. I contacted the other insurance company ([redacted]) on a regular basis, checking the status of the claim. I also resubmitted information to them via fax or email, they claim was not submitted to them by [redacted]. I also had to file a Revdex.com claim on [redacted] because I was not happy with their service or the way I was being treated. [redacted] issued me a check for wages lost and explained to me that a check was issued to Geico for the refund of my deductible on October 30th. It is now November 13 and I have yet to hear from [redacted] or anyone from Geico regarding my refund. I have contacted [redacted] several times, leaving her messages and she has yet to return my call. I also contacted Geico's customer service department and they sent [redacted] an email requesting that she respond to my calls and follow up with me on my claim. I have yet to hear from her. I am concerned that Geico did not do all they could to recover my funds. It is my belief that I did [redacted]'s job in getting [redacted] to finally distribute any payments. Furthermore, she is demonstrating poor customer service and lack of professionalism for not responding to this claim in a timely fashion. I am unsure why my deductible was sent to Geico as they did not pay the deductible. I am not sure why Geico didn't reimburse me once [redacted] admitted fault. I am not a happy customer of Geic

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for your inquiry of November 18, 2013.

On September 12, 2013, our insured, [redacted] reported an automobile accident and requested to utilize her policy for repairs because the adverse carrier, [redacted], had not yet accepted responsibility for the loss. On September 13, 2013, we inspected **. [redacted]’s vehicle and immediately issued payment for the damages.

Our subrogation adjuster, [redacted], submitted a demand to [redacted] that same day that included **. [redacted]’s $250.00 deductible. [redacted] also attempted to reach **. [redacted] via telephone but was unable to make contact. On September 19, 2013, we made contact with **. [redacted] and explained our subrogation against [redacted] and that it would include her $250.00 deductible.

On September 27, 2013, we followed up with the [redacted] adjuster and were advised that they had not yet agreed to take responsibility. We relayed this information to **. [redacted] later that same day. On October 14,2013, we received a message from the [redacted] adjuster advising they were still reviewing liability. On October 18, 2013 we left a message for [redacted] checking on the status and then we provided an update to **. [redacted]. On October 29,2013, **. [redacted] called and advised that [redacted] had not received the information regarding her deductible. [A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I was merely upset about the lack of communication and the wait due to **. [redacted]'s vacation. She did not inform me that she would be leaving for a while and wouldn't be there when [redacted] reimbursed the agency for the claim.

Review: I was shopping for quotes for my son. I decided to request a quote if I would add him to my insurance policy. I received a quote which I was not intending to purchase and with out my permission my son was added to my policy making my bill on or about 125 dollar more to my policy. I was never given an option to add him to my policy and I did not agree to this. I have decided to cancel my policy but now I am being charged 66 dollars because he is on my policy which I did not agree to.Desired Settlement: I do not want to pay for something that I did not agree to. My son has his own insurance

Dear **. [redacted]:

We received correspondence from the Revdex.com requesting assistance on your behalf. I am happy to provide you with this response.

The Family Automobile Insurance Policy issued to you by GEICO Indemnity Company provides coverage for all relatives residing in the household. Therefore, it is necessary for us to add any resident relatives to the policy or exclude them by way of a signed Named Driver Exclusion (NDE) form. Consequently, when you obtained a quote at our website, geico.com, to add a vehicle and your son, [redacted], to the policy, and indicated that he was residing in your household, it was necessary for us to add him as an active driver on the policy.

On 09/23/13, the policy was canceled at your request effective 10/12/13, resulting in a remaining balance due in the amount of $66.52. Later on 09/23/13, we provided you with an NDE for [redacted] via email. We received the signed NDE on 09/25/13. As a result, we changed- [redacted] to excluded effective 09/26/13, the day after the signed NDE was received. Because you stated in your letter that [redacted] has other insurance, we also changed his status from active to other insurance from the date he was added, 09/24/13, to the date he was excluded, 09/26/13, as a courtesy. These changes eliminated the previous balance due on your account and resulted in a refund of $3.73.

**. [redacted], I hope this information was helpful in understanding the handling of your policy, and I am sorry that we lost you as a policyholder. If you have additional questions, please call our analyst, [redacted], at ###-###-####, extension [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: Hi:

GEICO reported me to a credit collection service even after I responded to their queries with the requested documents.

I cancelled my auto policy with GEICO, effective May 29, 2013 and chose to cover my vehicles with a competitor. They sent me a bill stating I owed them money ($38.25) even after my policy was cancelled (since they decided to extend my policy WITHOUT my explicit permission) and asked me to send a proof that I indeed had insurance with a different provider after May 29, 2013. I sent them the requested declaration page from my new policy along with the filled form they sent with the original mail. However, they went ahead and reported me to "Credit Collection Services" anyway. I got a collection letter for them this evening. I am concerned GEICO has ruined my credit score and report due to their negligence.

Regards,

-[redacted]Desired Settlement: 1. I would like GEICO to restore any damage to my credit history due to their negligence.

2. I want GEICO to stop this nonsensical practice on extending insurance without permission in the future.

3. I want GEICO to send me an apology letter admitting their mistake.

Review: After being insured by Geico for quite some time, our car was vandalized. When the adjuster visited our home, where we had the car in our possession, my husband was instructed to have the car towed to a local dealership for diagnostics. After being accused (both my husband and myself individually) of the damage to the car, geico refuses to take responsibility for the tow bills or the diagnostics to be performed on the car and wants to settle our claim for far less than half of what the estimated charges will be.Desired Settlement: Geico needs to accept responsibility for the damages to the car without our having to "out of pocket" any further expenses.

July 18, 2014Dear **. [redacted],Thank you for referring the complaint from [redacted]. In reviewing the claim file, there are aspects of this claim that I find questionable, including the allegation that there is a problem with the engine and it is due to vandalism. **. [redacted] drove the vehicle to work even though they both acknowledged that it had been having problems starting. **. [redacted] worked at a gated estate with limited entry when the damage to the exterior was reportedly done. The vandalism would have had to have been done in daylight and easily visible. This would be highly irregular. Our investigation has turned up information that indicates that **. [redacted] and her Husband had been having domestic problems in recent weeks. In fact, when **. [redacted] drove the vehicle to the estate, her Husband, [redacted] called police to report the vehicle stolen. When **. [redacted] and the police arrived at the estate, a tow truck had to be called because the vehicle would not start. How a vehicle that was having starting problems and would not start has led to their conclusion that there was major vandalism involving the engine is highly questionable. We do not have a written analysis but it appears that there are numerous problems mechanical problems with the vehicle to include:• Vehicle needs a new battery• Oil supply pipe to turbo leaking• Valve cover gasket leaking• Oil filter housing gasket leaking. These types of problems are not uncommon with an 8 year old [redacted] with 70,000 miles on it. At any rate there was no vandalism that involved the engine. The effort to claim such calls in to question the merits of the entire claim presented. In any event, if [redacted] authorizes the dealership to do a tear down and the Dealer’s analysis concludes there is something wrong and likely engine damage due to an additive, we will re-open our investigation. If the vehicle leaves the dealership without such an analysis, we will deny any claim (now or future) for engine damage. It appears to me that GEICO’s handling has been appropriate up to this point and I do not see any further obligation owed unless we are provided with the dealer analysis. Please let me know if you have any further questions.Sincerely,

Review: on 11/26/2013, I was sent a notice from the DMV, that they are unable to verify insurance coverage for the dates of 10/2/2013 to 10/11/2013. Here in lies the problem. On Sept 28 ,I called and spoke with [redacted] with Geico insurance, explained to her my employment situation, and asked her how much time would I have left on my policy before it would be cancelled. She told me I had until 10/12/2013. On 10/9/2012 I purchased a policy with [redacted] to begin on 10/12/2013. Now a month and 13 days later, I was sent the notice from the DMV. I emailed the DMV [redacted], explained the situation this is what he sent me:

Thank you for contacting the Nevada DMV regarding VIN#[redacted].

Current DMV records indicate that Geico stopped reporting coverage on 10/1/13 and that [redacted] did not start reporting coverage until 10/12/13.

At this time I suggest that you complete the data mailer post card we mailed to you, check the box that applies to your situation and mail the card back to the DMV. List both insurance companies on the card, when we receive the card we will try to verify the dates in question and if the dates do not verify electronically we will send the card to each insurance company listed for verification.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions.

Thank you,

DMV Tech I

I did just as he informed me to do. The same day so 11/26/2013 I sent the inquiry to Geico, 12 business days later ,I receive correspondence from Geico ,

Dear Valued Policyholder,

We wanted to let you know we've completed your request to provide the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) with the dates that coverage was in effect on your vehicle(s). Please note that due to a lapse of insurance, we were unable to verify coverage for all of the dates requested. Please contact the DMV to confirm what further steps are required to have your registration in good standing.

To view your updated insurance information, visit the Nevada DMV website, select "Update insurance information for my vehicle registration", and enter the Vehicle Identification Number and last four numbers of the license plate (exactly as they appear on your vehicle registration).

Thank you for choosing GEICO. We appreciate your business, and look forward to serving your insurance needs for years to come.

Sincerely,

Your GEICO Service Team

Now they terminated my insurance 09/28/2013 ..Desired Settlement: I want Geico to retract this situation. Their employee [redacted] told me I would be covered until 10/12/2013. I have kept insurance on my vehicle since 10/12/2013..I want Geico to retract the non insurance on my vehicle, and own up to the words that their Customer Service Rep has spoken. I dont want any monetary anything from Geico just the retracting, because on Jan 8, my registration will be suspended, for something Geico incorrectly gave information.

January 10, 2014

Dear **. [redacted]:

We have received your letter requesting assistance on behalf of **. [redacted]. I welcome the opportunity to respond to her concerns.

**. [redacted]’s policy was enrolled in our paperless policy and billing programs (ePolicy and eBill), which provide the benefit of receiving policy documents and installment bills via email. We were provided with an email address of [redacted] for these programs.

**. [redacted]’s policy renewed with an effective date of September 28, 2013. An installment bill reminder was sent to her on August 24, 2013, and an additional reminder was sent on September 13, 2013. These bills indicated a payment was due on September 28, 2013 to renew coverage under her policy. When no payment was received, a cancellation notice was mailed Post Office Receipt Secured (PORS) on September 30, 2013, advising that coverage would cease on October 11, 2013 if a payment was not received.

Normally, if a payment is not received for a renewal, the policy is cancelled as of the renewal effective date to avoid any unnecessary earned premium. Since we received no payment or contact from **. [redacted], her policy was cancelled on the renewal date of September 28, 2013. Based on our cancellation notice, we have reinstated coverage to reflect a cancellation effective October 11, 2013. We have electronically submitted confirmation of coverage to the Insurance Division of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). We recognize that this coverage verification will not resolve all pending issues with the Nevada DMV; however, this is in keeping our notices sent to **. [redacted].

This change has left a $189.44 earned premium balance due on her GEICO policy. This represents the cost of coverage provided from September 28th to October 11th, 2013 and we will send **. [redacted] a bill for this amount.

While we have no record of the September 28th conversation **. [redacted] mentions in her letter, an email reminder was sent to her email of record on September 29, 2013. Our email explained:

“Your auto policy cancellation notice. Thank you for being a GEICO customer. Your policy is about to cancel for non-payment of premium. Act now to prevent cancellation of your insurance protection. CURRENT BILL - Amount Due; $260.60 - Cancellation Date: 10/11/2013”

**. [redacted] also enrolled in Text Alerts so a text message was also sent that day to **. [redacted] at ###-###-#### which advised: “GEICO Policy: Policy will CANCEL on 10/11 at 12:01 AM unless $260.60 is paid. Use geico.com/express or ###-###-#### to pay. Reply STOP to cancel alerts. ”

In addition to these alerts, we attempted to call **. [redacted] to make her aware her policy was pending cancellation. Four calls were made on October 8, 2013 and two additional calls were made on October 10, 2013, with a voicemail message left both days at ###-###-####, the phone number on file for **. [redacted].

We understand and empathize with **. [redacted]’s concerns regarding the lapse in coverage; however, we are unable to confirm coverage for her vehicle after October 10, 2013. We respectfully suggest she contact her current carrier and review any options they may have to adjust their inception date for her policy with them.

For your review, we have enclosed a copy of our notice to **. [redacted], as well as our email and text message,

I hope this information is helpful in resolving **. [redacted]’s concerns. If you have any additional questions, please contact my associate, [redacted], at ###-###-####, extension [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: Preface: Geico raised their rates on me with out notifying me on December 23rd. That caused my bank account to over-draft. I called Geico to have them credit my bank account the $35.00. They said it was company policy not to refund over-drafts. Subsequently, I canceled my policy.

I cancelled my policy (Policy Number: [redacted]) on December 23, 2013. Then on December 26th, Geico tried to debit my bank account which caused my bank to charge me an over draft fee. Geico has since refused to refund me the over draft charges.

Geico did not have authorization to charge my credit card on the 26th.Desired Settlement: Refund of $70.00
