Gibbs Company Reviews (%countItem)

On July 11, 2018 we signed a contract to have the company mud jack our garage. Because of various family events, we could not get our garage fixed. *** quit being a RamJack representative, but stayed in the business. We chose to stay with him (Big Mistake).

I a filing a complaint now to get myself ready to go to Small Claims Court. My husband has called twice with no response.

We signed a contract in December of 2018 and gave *** a deposit for the work. He stated it would be completed as soon as possible. We finally had a crew showed up with one day notice in October of 2019. We have no idea what was done since we were promised the fireplace would be lifted and there is no change to the outside of the house. One day we came home and all the dirt was pushed back and the crews were gone. *** immediately started threatening me to get him the rest of his money. I received several aggressive phone calls and emails. When I asked to get an explanation of the work he stopped talking to me and placed a lien on the house. We paid him the remainder of the money and he has refused to lift the lien, even though he has been paid completely for work. He also took an $11,000 deposit from a family member of mine on a different project and now refuses to do any of the work for her either.

6 years ago they had done work for me that was still covered by a warranty (valued at $10,000). Part of the reason I had contacted this business again was because their work was needing repairs and that was to be included in this new contract. I contacted them some time back (prior to the 14th of February of 2019) to evaluate their situation and do some foundation work that house. When I signed the contract with them, they said that the work would be dependant on weather and prior jobs scheduled. They were projecting several months before they could start. I gave them the deposit ($2579) on February 14th. I called them in November and they did let me know I was scheduled for sometime around Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving came and went and nothing happened. I actually heard on the Radio recently that this company had chosen to retire and have yet to hear back from them. I called this past Monday (January 6th) to ask about the work I paid for them to do and again have yet to hear anything from anyone.

Late in 2018 Gibbs Co. sent a representative *** to my home to estimate repairs to the foundation. *** returned to my home 3 times until we settled on a plan to install tie backs and some piers to correct some settling. On April 3, 2019 I gave *** a check for $5469 representing a third of the total cost of estimated work to be done. He indicated at that time that the installers were "2 to 3 months out depending on weather" before starting my job.

I texted *** a few times over the next few months to see if he had an idea on when my job might be started or if he could have the office call me as I could never get through on the main phone line and only seemed to be able to leave messages. The last time I heard from *** was on June 19, 2019.

I did receive an email on July 7, 2019 stating there were still jobs ahead of mine, but that is the last contact I have had with Gibbs Co. despite many attempts by email and phone to contact them. I have left messages but have never received any phone calls in return. On September 9, 2019 I sent Gibbs Co. a reply email stating that because of the lack of communication and no work ever being completed I want to cancel any scheduled work and have my deposit of $5469 returned to me.

July 7, 2019 Gibbs Co. email:
Just a reminder that we have not forgotten about your project. We wanted you to know that there are still a few jobs ahead of yours, you will be hearing from us soon. Please keep in mind that weather and other unforeseen developments can alter our schedule, Thank you for your patience.

My September 9, 2019 email to Gibbs Co.:
Gibbs Company,

At this point it’s been 5 months since I gave a deposit and nearly a year since the initial inspection of my house. I have received little to no communication during this time.

I would like to request a refund of my deposit of $5469.00 and cancel any planned installation.

I submitted a deposit for basement work to be done in June 2019 and still have not had the work completed. I have called them business several times and got a voicemail. No one ever returns my calls. I would like my money back so I can get the work done on my basement.

Last summer, I had a few companies provide recommendations to install home foundation piers. After all the research and discussion, I settled on a company named “*** of Mid-Missouri” which also goes by the name of “Gibbs Company”. I provided a deposit on 9/21/18 for $3,660 and was told the work would be performed sometime in December 2018. Well, December 2018 got here and the Company Owner *** seemed to avoid my calls, not return messages or emails. Finally got in touch with him in late December 2018 and he stated their start date would be delayed a few weeks. Middle of January 2019…same story. Early February 2019…same story.

Due to them not honoring start dates they told me, the feeling of being led along and flat out losing my trust, I cancelled the contract on 2/9/19 via a phone conversation. *** agreed to cancel the contract and refund my money. I followed up with an email on 2/9/19. I asked to get the refund in 21 days. After the 21 days, I called and as usual, couldn’t get in touch with the Owner ***. He finally picked up the phone on 3/22/19 after 6-weeks of agreeing to refund the $3,660. On 3/22/19, *** stated he didn’t have my money. The company wasn’t doing well. Numerous incompetent crews had lost a bunch of money on previous projects and he had to fire them. He’s trying to sell off some unused equipment and once new jobs provide revenue, he would be able to send our refund. He didn’t know if that would be one month or two months.

I asked if he used our money, which I figured would be in a holding account somewhere waiting for our project. He said yes. He used it to keep the company going. I indicated none of that was my problem and wanted my money back. He had nothing to offer.

Six months ago, he did refund $1,500 of the $3,660. Still owes over $2,000 and hasn't responded to emails or phone calls over the past 6 months. He's held my money for over one year and I want my money back. My sympathy and patience waiting for him to get financially stable are over.

On March 14th, 2019, I signed a contract with this company to do work on the foundation s of my house at the above address and gave them a deposit of $5,250.50. So, this company had done work on the foundations in 2005 and the work was guaranteed by *** so I assumed that Gibbs would do the work under the *** name. I was told that the work would be started in 4 to 6 weeks from the time of signing the contract. When I had not heard from Gibbs by May, I called and was told I was 19th on the list. I found another company associated with *** and they did the job in early November. I contacted my attorney with regard to refunding the deposit of $5,250.50. No money has been received by me.

I hired Gibbs company to perform work and that work still has not occurred a year later.
I signed a contract and gave a deposit for Foundation repair in October of 2018. I periodically got emails updating the number of jobs a head of me. These emails stopped in August of 2019. I have not been able to get a hold of them to discuss the situation by email nor phone.
I picked Gibbs because the were affiliated with Ram Jack and were a member of Revdex.com.

It’s been over a year that I paid this company a deposit to do a foundation job for my house. I’ve been calling since I got the last email from them on 2018 that why is taking too long to get the job done and it seems that they just won’t ever do the job the promise more than a year ago. At this point all I want is my deposit back so I can get another company to fix my house. Randy can never answer the phone or even bother to call back, response to emails. I see a lot of people have the same issue. I need my deposit that I’ve been asking for since 2018!.

Signed contract & paid deposit with Gibbs Company on 7/16/19 to have foundation repairs to our garage. We were told the work would be done "in the next month or two". We were then contacted by the sales rep *** a couple days later saying that he made a mistake on the estimate and they would not be able to honor the contract for the agreed-upon price and we ended up having to eliminate some of the work that was originally promised.

After not hearing from them, I sent an email on 9/18/19 and told them that if the repairs could not begin in the immediate future; that we wanted our money back. Again, after not hearing anything, I called our sales rep on 10/3/19 but the email was returned that he was no longer with the company. I then contacted *** (the owner of the company) on 10/14/19 and requested our money back. He replied that same day indicating that they intended to refund our deposit but they needed "to get some collections first to cover" our deposit and asked me to be patient! Well, we didn't get a choice to delay paying the deposit and although we have now waited two more weeks, our patience has run out. I sent another email on 10/28/19 and this time we have not received any reply.

DUE TO WEATHER AND LACK OF GOOD EMPLOYEES, OUR CASH FLOW IS TERRIBLE. HOW WE ARE TRYING TO SELL SOME UNUSED EQUIPMENT TO USE FOR THE REFUND.

Customer Response • Oct 31, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: they took a deposit of money from us to use for the labor and materials to be used ON OUR PROPERTY. Since they never did ANY work for us; they should not have spent ANY of the money from our deposit, but instead should have put that money in trust to be used solely for our work project. Therefore, we should not have to wait for them to sell equipment to return our deposit money to us! If they do not have enough cash on-hand to re-pay my deposit, they can go and obtain a loan; using the property they intend to sell as collateral to pay us back our deposit. They have had the benefit of using our money for 3 months so now they can pay interest on a loan so that my deposit can be refunded.

Sincerely

Gibbs Company Response • Nov 01, 2019

We do not have any money in the bank so they are welcome to work out a deal on equipment that I am trying to sell.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: again, they should have put my deposit money in trust to be used solely for our work project. I am not insterested in receiving their equipment for a trade of our deposit money! If they do not have enough cash on-hand to re-pay my deposit, they can go and obtain a loan; using the property they intend to sell as collateral to pay us back our deposit. They have had the benefit of using our money for 3 months so now they can pay interest on a loan so that my deposit can be refunded.

We signed a contract with this company to do foundation work on our house on 2/26/19. We paid them by check in the amount of $3000, which cleared. They told us the job would completed in 12 weeks. We have called multiple times and had multiple conversations about when they would begin our job. They told multiple times that we wer 10th in line for the job to be started. They gave excuses for not starting the job, citing lack of staff and weather. Eight months later, they still have not even started the job. It doesn't appear that we have move up significantly in the line of jobs to be done. Now when I call the office, or the owner, my calls are not answered. I have left messages on the machine. The contract states that there are no refunds except under good cause and at the owner's discretion. We have lost our faith in being able to work with the company as they have strung us along and now are not answering our phone calls.

WE TRYING TO SELL SOME EQUIPMENT TO PAY THIS.

Customer Response • Nov 12, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

This process has gone on long enough. We just want our money back. You keep saying we will get the money and we have yet to see anything returned to us. It has been 30 days since we put in this complaint. We have had to hire another company to finish the job, you won't take our phone calls and keep giving cryptic responses. If you are going to sell things to give us money, when will we see it? I would like the funds within the next 10 days.

Sincerely

Gibbs Company Response • Nov 12, 2019

I JUST MET WITH THE AUCTIONEERS TO SELL SOME EQUIPMENT. WHEN IT SELLS YOU WILL GET PAID. I CAN'T DO ANY BETTER THAN THAT.

Customer Response • Nov 21, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: I would like to know exactly when the auction will be and when I am getting my deposit back.

Signed contract & paid deposit with Gibbs Company on August 17, 2018 to have foundation repairs completed on building we own in Stoutsville, MO. To date, work on building has not been started. My husband and I have attempted to contact Gibbs Company on multiple occassions using our cell phones and initially were told we were a specific number on their work list. Later we would receive post cards in the mail indicating what number we were on the list. In April we were #2 on the list. We started trying to contact them again in September and would only receive voice mail and left messages but no call back. I called again on September 24 and used a different phone and *** answered and I was told "he" was at lunch and would call me back in a couple of hours. I received no call back. At this point, we would like our deposit to be refunded so we can get some other company to complete the repairs.

We signed a contract in November2018. At this time Randy (the owner) said there were 20 customers ahead of us and he had three teams working (trying to get a fourth team). We should expect a May schedule, weather would be a scheduling factor. We received an email in March 2019 stating that now there were 13, in June there were 9, and July there were 6. There have been no further emails and we have been unable to get any response by any type of communication since then. All calls go to voice mail. We are looking to get a refund of our $5,000 deposit so we can afford to get the piering done before the house falls in. After seeing these latest summer reviews we realize we will be in for a long haul before anything positive happens. We are deeply disappointed and suggest the Revdex.com consider reevaluate this company.

I was sold on the technology, however Gibbs is one of the worst, maybe the worst company I have ever worked with. Absolutely no expertise. I had to manage every aspect of the project, which I had to learn on the fly. The owner Randy *** would not discuss the issues and made no effort to make things right. It was a $10,000 project. It would be a big mistake to do business with this company.

We had Gibbs company out to repair a bowing wall for us. They put carbon fiber strips on the wall to reinforce it for us. 18 months later, we had additional cracking and bowing between two of the carbon fiber strips. The work had a five year warranty, so we had them back out. They were extremely rude and refused to do anything to help us and would not honor their warranty. The owner Randy was so ride he had my wife in tears by the time we asked him to leave.

So, we had other contractors out to get a quote on repairs. They all said it was ridiculous for them not to honor their warranty based on what had been done, and our additional problems. Some also pointed out the area we were having problems was where they put one of the strips under the window - they said that is only a half a strip of reinforcement and that the window area is the weakest part of the wall already. It was careless and shoddy work that they refused to correct.

Strongly advise against hiring this company!!!!

I paid this company $1244 on 9/16/2018 to raise my driveway, fill in the gaps, lift up the sidewalk and put in new drainage. They have never started the job. When I first paid them, he told me I was 8th in line. I haven't heard from the company since February. Every time I call now I leave the message and the secretary says they will get back to me. I called again on 6/20. I am wondering if they are out of business.

Gibbs Company Response • Jun 21, 2019

WE ARE DOWN TO THREE EMPLOYEES AT THIS POINT WITH NO ONE EVEN COMING TO INTERVIEW. BECAUSE OF THAT THE PRODUCTION MANAGER, WHO IS THE POLY JACKING OPERATOR HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET OPEN JOBS DONE. SO HE CAN START POLY JACKING. HE HAS REPORTED TO ME THAT HE SHOULD BE AT THAT POINT BY THE FIRST OF NEXT WEEK AND BE ABLE TO START POLY JACKING IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT. WE ARE WORKING SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS TO TRY AND KEEP UP, BUT I DO APOLOGIZE FOR THE SCHEDULING PROBLEM.

Customer Response • Jul 01, 2019

Please call me and speak with me about the scheduling. If the work is not going to be done, then I will need to place calls to another company.

Gibbs Company Response • Jul 02, 2019

MET WITH CLIENT TODAY AND RESOLVED ALL THE ISSUES.

This should really be a ZERO STAR!!! All I can say is horrible, horrible business!! We signed a contract with them in August, Work was supposed to begin in October 2018. We got the run around until July 2019 and they still continued to lie. We asked for our deposit back (which was over $5,000.00), Randy the owner told us to email or mail a letter stating that we want our money back and we did. Guess what?? Still no money and they will not return calls either. It’s sad that our deposit check was cashed right away, but no communication or work delivered. These people are ridiculous and if they can sleep at night, I feel sorry for them!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!

Gibbs Company Response • Jun 18, 2019

WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO RETURN DEPOSITS AS WE COLLECT FUNDS.

We paid our $3,000 deposit last summer to Gibbs/*** and work was scheduled to begin on 9/24. First week no one showed up & when I called the office, no one knew why or when work would start. Work started on 10/1 and they worked for 3 weeks before disappearing. It was supposed to be a 1 week job, but here we are SEVEN MONTHS LATER and the job is still not complete. We don't have AC because there is a ditch where the unit is supposed to go. I call & talk to the owner *** every 3 weeks & every time he says "we'll try to get out and finish it this week", but it never happens. The actual basement itself does not leak anymore, but they never finished filling in the dirt around the sump pump or bothered to bury the gutters or pipes. We also have large pockets where the dirt has sunk that they haven't been out to fill in. In addition to the missing dirt, we are missing grass seed & straw, so our yard is real eye sore. They also damaged our water spout and our fence & have never bothered to fix those either. Lucky for us our neighbors are very understanding, as they also tore up their yards & knocked off one of their satellites. *** called me the last morning back in Oct that they did actually show up for work (10/26) at 7am & yelled at me for not having financing secured beforehand & told me the work would be finished that day & I had to pay in full that day. He was very threatening. I stupidly believed him & released full payment that day. So learn from my mistake. NEVER pay for a job until it's complete & whatever you do, DON'T HIRE GIBBS FOR ANYTHING! Oh and the kicker is that I ran into the *** sales guy who sold us the repair last summer at *** last week. He's working there now. According to him, our job was just the first in a long line of unfinished jobs they have & they won't even give him access to the workers' phone numbers anymore so he can't follow up on progress for any of the jobs he sold.

Gibbs Company Response • May 22, 2019

What *** has neglected to include is Gibbs Company was at her address a week ago with dirt to complete the job with and she refused the quality of the dirt and would not let us finish her job. We will try again to please her if she will let us.

Customer Response • May 22, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

This is a complete lie. No one has been to our home or contacted us. I have never rejected any dirt. Are they confusing me with another job they never completed?

If they are willing to finish the job, not just dirt but also fix the damage to our waterspout in a timely manner, then we will accept this resolution. This needs to happen no later than June 7th though.

Sincerely

Gibbs Company Response • May 24, 2019

Now our research has come up with flaws in the employee story he told us. We have no proof that he did stop with dirt so we are uncertain. He has left our company at this point knowing he would have to face the music if we found him lying. The dirt is still loaded so we will attempt to deliver and spread the first part of the week next week.

We had anchors and piers put into place to stabilize our foundation. *** warranties the work and is assuming responsibility: however, Gibbs Co. is not providing important information to test for further foundation movement and stability. I have sent emails to *** specifically and called the office. My calls are during regular business hours but are not answered....not returned. No response from the emails either. All I want, at this point, is the original measurement numbers so we can compare them to the new measurements to see if the anchors need tightening or are doing their job well. I am getting no response. I am not asking for money, time, work, just information from our work order. I do not understand why this request is being ignored. The numbers are needed to test how much the foundation has shifted (there is evidence of movement) and they are needed before too much movement happens. Ignoring this request could result in more damage as it delays corrective actions, allowing more movement.

AS I STATED BEFORE, WE ARE GOING THROUGH A RESTRUCTURING AND CASH FLOW IS TERRIBLE RIGHT NOW. I UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION AS I WOULD BE ALSO IN THEIR POSITION. IF I HAD THE MONEY IN THE ACCOUNT, I WOULD PAY HIM, BUT I DON'T RIGHT NOW. I STILL INTEND TO PAY IT BACK AS I CAN. I THOUGHT THE PAYMENT IDEA WOULD AT LEAST BE A GOOD FAITH PROPOSAL THAT I COULD WORK WITH UNTIL HE IS FULLY PAID BACK.

Customer Response • May 14, 2019

The company Gibbs did not have good faith as he has been saying he is going to pay for a couple months. And has done nothing so he will never make payment a. And if I accept payment and does not make them all I have no legal recourse and Revdex.com should no this so the company has done nothing to resolve problem and if you would have looked at all his other complaints from other web sites and your own you would see this man is a problem. But I guess when you pay Revdex.com they will always go for their customer. Right or wrong. This man has law suits with other people for night paying them. *** is one of them and they pulled his franchise for not paying You people need to take more time on your cases to truly find out who you should be sticking up for not just because they pay you for your services
