Giftly Reviews (125)

I really enjoyed the wide variety of different options you could choose a gift card for. I also enjoyed how easy it was to both navigate the website as well as actually purchase a gift card. I have only used this once so far and bought 2 different gift cards for people and I will most likely use this again.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/26) */
This has already been resolved directly with the customer.
On June 19, 2015, the customer confirmed with our Support Team that she received the $50 gift card in the mail.
If a customer reports that a gift card has not been received in the...

mail and appears to be lost, we will always send a new card free of charge or give the customer the option to receive the funds a different way.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/06/29) */

My sister bought me a 100$ giftly card. Total scam. Asked me to enter the source code...I did. Asked me to enter my debit card number to receive the card credit....instantly charges started hitting my debit card. Had to close out my account.

At Giftly, we value our customers and make every effort to resolve customer concerns.
On Monday, February 23 we issued a new $25 gift card to be shipped to this customer.
If a customer contacts us about a gift card that has not...

been received, we will investigate the transaction history, shipping records, etc. as available. Based on our findings as well as the information provided by the customer we will reissue a new card when appropriate, as we did in this instance.

I have received my gift card so I am happy.

We are always willing to remove a merchant's listing, no questions asked. Per the merchant's request the pages for Pelican's Snoballs have been removed from our website and we have requested that Google delete the pages from its index.
I'm...

sorry that our website has caused you concern but please allow me to explain what's happening because I think this might simply be a misunderstanding.
Have you taken a look at how Giftly works? It's quite a bit different from traditional gift cards:
https://www.giftly.com/merchants/faq/help
A Giftly is basically a cash gift with a suggestion for where to spend it. Any business can be listed and suggested.
Giftly recipients redeem their gifts through our website or mobile app and we send the Giftly recipient the gifted funds directly.
When a Giftly recipient comes into your business, they pay you the full amount for their purchase. Customers will not present anything to you. We work with the customer to get them the gifted funds, so there's really nothing you need to do.
You get full price paying customers just by having your page listed with us, which is completely free. Tens of thousands of Giftlys have been given and we've been featured on local and national news:

We do not have record of any gifts given to "[redacted]." Additionally there are no user accounts associated with this name, and we have also not received any support tickets.
I'm assuming the gift may be listed under a different name in...

our system.
Could the customer please contact us at [redacted]@giftly.com to provide their six letter activation code or other information about the gift to help us identify it?

it was said to me in a email that the money was refunded to the buyer.. so I guess this is case closed.. but the name it was under was Miss [redacted]

This has been resolved directly with the customer via email.

Whenever a merchant requests their page to be removed, we are happy to do so. Per this merchant's request, the page http://www.giftly.com/gift-card/[redacted] has been removed from our website. We have...

also requested that Google remove it from their index.

A Giftly is basically a cash gift with a suggestion for where to spend it. Any business can be listed and suggested. We pull all of our business information from publicly available directories such as Yelp.
Giftly recipients redeem their gifts through our website or mobile app and we send the Giftly recipient the gifted funds directly. Although the physical gift cards can only be shipped and used within the US, we offer other redemption options which work in Canada and other countries.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

We could send you the funds as a payment to your credit or debit card, as an ACH deposit to your checking account, or via PayPal. Or, we could refund the purchaser to the original form of payment.
In January we stated a $10 cancellation fee; however since that time the cancellation fee charged by Omnicard has changed to $5. The total refund amount would be card balance minus $5.

Hi [redacted],
I'm sorry that this happened. The last email I see in our system from you was on May 22nd 2014. I just looked into this again and it appears that the gift card...

we sent out was activated and used.
In your original email to us, you said that the card had not been received. Is that still the case? Or, was it received after filing this complaint? According to our system the gift card was received, activated, and used completely.
If the card wasn't received by the intended recipient, it has been stolen and was used by someone else. This would be the first report of that happening in our history but it does seem possible. Let me know if you think that's the case and I will send you a full refund.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I spoke with my son again and he did not receive the card.
Therefore I assume it was stolen or lost in the mail and used by someone else. The store for which it was intended
Actually closed down before he could use it.
I tried having the card voided so nobody else could use it but that didn't happen. I am just irritated that even after I made several calls and send emails to avoid this situation my concern was disregarded. This part of customer service will not make me a repeat customer. I guess I will look at this lessons learned. Thanks for looking into this matter.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/11/21) */
Per this request, we have removed [redacted] from www.giftly.com and www.treatgiftcards.com. Whenever a merchant requests removal of their business page we are willing to do so.
I'm sorry that our website has caused concern but please...

allow me to explain what's happening because I think this might simply be a misunderstanding.
Both Giftly and Treat Gift Cards are quite a bit different from traditional gift cards.
The Treat Gift Card is a MasterCard network branded prepaid card. It works just like any prepaid card except it can be restricted for use at one or more merchants selected by the buyer.
Most traditional gift card programs require you as the merchant to purchase expensive equipment and software. We've developed a way to create gift cards without requiring the merchant to do a thing, which is why our selection of available merchants is so large.
A Giftly is a cash gift with a suggestion for where to spend it. Any business can be listed and suggested. Giftly recipients redeem their gifts through our website and we send the Giftly recipient the gifted funds directly that they use to make a purchase at your business.
When the recipient of a Giftly or Treat Gift Card comes into your business, they pay you the full amount for their purchase. You will be paid just as if the customer made their purchase using any normal credit or debit card. There's nothing special you need to do.
You acquire full price paying customers just by having your page listed with us, which is completely free. Over 100,000 gift cards have been given through our gift card brands.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/19) */
We have already resolved this issue directly with the customer.
On June 16, 2015 we responded to the customer's support ticket addressing his concerns about the confirmation token. In that message we also confirmed that we had canceled and...

refunded the $29 purchase as requested.
All of our gift cards come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We will issue a full refund for any reason as long as the gift has not been redeemed.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/06/20) */
This case has been resolved and I have been issued a refund. No further as cation is required at this time. Please CLOSE the case.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/11/02) */
Whenever a merchant requests their page to be removed, we are happy to do so. On October 17, 2015 we received an inquiry from this merchant asking who gave permission to sell gift cards to her business.
We responded with an explanation of how...

Giftly works and that there may be a misunderstanding. However, we did not receive a response to our message asking for us to take further action.
If this merchant would like us to proceed with removal then we will just need her to send us the name and address of her business or the link to the web page.

THE CUSTOMER THAT CAME INTO MY BUSINESS WAS LOOKING TO REDEEM HIS COUPON FROM YOUR STORE. THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW IT WAS SUPPOSE TO WORK AND WAS UPSET WITH MY STAFF FOR NO HONORING THIS COUPON. MAYBE YOU SHOULD LET A BUSINESS KNOW ABOUT YOU BEFORE YOU TELL THEM ABOUT THERE ESTABLISHMENT SO WE CAN BOTH TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER PROPERLY.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/11/19) */
We recognize that there was some frustration as a result of this situation, and we regret that there was a misunderstanding. In all cases we want Giftly to be a smooth and positive experience for the merchant as well as the recipient of the gift.
The design of the greeting card is intended to be self-explanatory for how to redeem the gift. The only text on the printable Giftly which the customer would have brought into the establishment is as follows:
A Giftly is a gift card with a thoughtful suggestion for how to spend it.
How to use this Giftly:
1. Go to www.giftly.com
2. Click "I received a Giftly"
3. Enter the code found here: xxxxxx
(Please don't present this to the merchant. Redeem online.)
We have sent over 100,000 gifts through our website and unfortunately this was one of the rare occasions where the recipient did not follow the instructions properly.
We're very sorry that your staff was put in a situation with an upset customer; we would never intend for that to happen. Please don't ever hesitate to contact our Customer Support Team for assistance. We are always happy to reach out to the customer directly to offer resolution or explanation, so spending the gift at your establishment is a pleasant experience for everyone involved.

If a merchant writes in and requests that we remove their Giftly listing, we are always willing to do so, no questions asked. We removed the page for [redacted] and [redacted] on Mar 4, 2015 per this request.
This concern...

appears to simply be a misunderstanding about how Giftly works. Giftly is quite a bit different from traditional gift cards:

Giftly recipients redeem their gifts through our website or mobile app and we send the Giftly recipient the gifted funds directly. Although we are not able to mail the physical gift cards outside the US, many of our customers redeem their Giftlys electronically for use in Canada or other countries.

Although many merchants have seen great benefit from having their business featured by Giftly, we are always willing to remove a listing when the merchant requests it, as we did in this case.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/03/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The company in question did not first ask my permission to use my name in thier advertising which is disturbing. Had they emailed me I may have accepted this advertising. They have removed me from their site as requested. Thank you for your valuable time.

We spoke with [redacted] at length in January 2016. As of today, the gift card is almost two and a half years old.
We are...

very sorry for the less than ideal experience while trying to pay at the restaurant last December.
The gift card was declined because the cashier attempted to authorize it for an amount greater than the card's balance. The balance can be checked by going to https://giftly.omnicard.com/cards/balance or calling the phone number printed on the back of the card.
Giftly's terms and conditions ([redacted]) state that we will refund a purchase, for any reason, before the gift is redeemed on our website, which happened for this gift on June 25, 2014.
On December 28, 2015, [redacted] spoke via phone with a representative of Omnicard, our partner company that manages the Visa Gift Cards. The notes for that call were regarding the inactivity fees that were charged to the card beginning at one year of inactivity. The fees were reversed at that time and restored to his card's balance.
During the call, there was no direction regarding the usage of the card from the day before.
The card's transaction history indicates that there were a few attempts to use the card on December 27, 2015 that were declined at a restaurant. The attempts were for a dollar amount greater than the balance of the card.
The transaction history indicates that the card was declined because it was run incorrectly at the restaurant, not because the card itself is defective.
Because there is nothing wrong with the card, we offered a couple options to [redacted] during our communication in January.
We explained that he could spend the Visa Gift Card as cash at any place of his choosing if he preferred not to return to the restaurant. The Visa Gift Card in his possession is the equivalent of cash and can be used as payment anywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted. It is a standard Visa Gift Card and there is nothing special or unique about its usage compared to other prepaid cards.
Alternatively, we offered to refund him the balance of the gift card minus a small fee that is charged to Giftly by Omnicard for decoding the card's magnetic strip.

This website saved me, as I didn't have any time to send my sister a birthday card, purchase a gift card, get some stamps. I simply got on th website, and sent her the gift. You can also set it to send on a certain date. Convenient, easy and awesome.

Whenever a merchant writes in and requests that we remove their listing, we always do so with no questions asked. This merchant did not contact us prior to involving the Revdex.com.
