Good afternoon [redacted] I hope this email finds you well My name is [redacted] and I am the VP of Customer Success at Glassdoor I understand you've had some frustrations with respect to the cancellation, or lack thereof, of your Glassdoor services post initial request I apologize this is the experience you've had and hope you'll allow me to walk you through the details of what we've done in canceling your account and refunding dollars to your credit card Per our records, a sales order, # [redacted] , was signed by you on April 29, The terms of that order state "Beginning days after the Effective Date, this Agreement may be terminated by either party for any reason upon days prior notice." With that language in mind, the earliest date termination could take effect would be days after the effective date of the contract, August 27, - days plus the day notice period Our records indicate an email requesting termination was sent on August 1, to take effect thirty days later on August 31, Glassdoor should then be refunding any unused fees post that termination date of August 31, It appears as if there were two payments processed against your credit card after August 31, Those payments were in the amount of $1,each for a total of $3, I confirmed with my Finance team that we processed those two refunds today [redacted] , again, I apologize for your experience with Glassdoor It is certainly not our intent to leave you with the impression that we did not value you as a customer and that our processes were confusing and frustrating Each and every customer is important to us With that in mind, if there is anything at all I can do for you in the future, please do let me know Best, [redacted]

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/08/30) */ Thank you for contacting us. As we previously communicated; Glassdoor is a neutral platform where employees can leave candid feedback about their employment experiences. We do not create or edit any of the Review content that appears on our... site, but instead rely on our Users who have worked for the Companies being reviewed. We ask our Users to follow our Community Guidelines (http://help.glassdoor.com/article/Community-Guidelines/en_US/). That being said, when it comes to whether or not the substance of the Reviews on Glassdoor are true or false, it is often impossible for us to make that determination. We do not remove content in these circumstances, as we do not feel that we can act as the finder of fact. Glassdoor's general position is that a review is valid from the standpoint that it is one person's personal experience of their job and company. At Glassdoor, we always strive to ensure the highest level of data integrity. Since we're unable to fully verify the identity of an anonymous user, we require each user to certify their employee relationship to the company when they post any content. We also require all users to validate their email address before their posts are made available to the community. This verification process allows us to put measures in place to identify suspicious users and/or posts. Before any piece of content appears on Glassdoor, it is evaluated to determine if it meets our community guidelines. If the content does not meet the guidelines, appears suspicious, or we have sufficient reason to believe it is fraudulent, we will not post it to Glassdoor. Furthermore, we also rely on our own community of members to help police the site. When a member sees content they believe violates our community guidelines, they can flag it for additional review by our moderators. Additionally, we understand that you would like your company name to be removed from Glassdoor. Because we believe in creating a robust and transparent resource for all employees, and because it is not unlawful for us to host discussion of specific companies on our forum, we do not remove companies from our website. We recommend that you provide an employer response to the post. In our experience, thoughtful, professional employer responses go a long way to diffusing the effect of negative posts (especially those posts not so professional in tone) and in many cases, may actually benefit your company overall. Initial Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2015/08/05) */
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to respond to your concern
Glassdoor's mission is to help people everywhere find a job and company they loveOne of the ways we do this by offering a platform for employees to post anonymous
reviews about companies for whom they have workedGlassdoor does not create this content, but provides the forum for it to be posted and for other's to consume
However, we do have Community Guidelines, which allow us to ensure that everyone can benefit from a helpful, balanced and authentic communityReviews that are beyond our Guidelines or are otherwise objectionable may not be approved or may be removed
In our pursuit of authenticity, we do not allow individuals to manipulate the conversation in an effort to make their voice more heavily weightedAs we express in our Community Guidelines (http://help.glassdoor.com/article/Community-Guidelines/en_US) we approve reviews and interview details that offer insights that can only come from an employee or job candidate who's been there within the past five yearsWe only allow one company review review per employer, per yearWe take fraud extremely seriously and as you state in your complaint you violated this, and that is why we have taken your content down
In order to protect the integrity of our site, we will not re-post content after we have determined that it is fraudulent
I am sorry that we disagree on this issueMatters such as these are not easy, but I hope that you understand that our intention is to create a community that is transparent and unbiasedWe can only do that by staying true to our guidelinesThis is what makes Glassdoor such a valuable place for millions to come to monthly

Thank you for raising thisWe are sorry you have experienced troubleGlassdoor partners with TopResume, a separate company, to offer Glassdoor users a free resume evaluation from TopResumeSeparate from the free evaluation, TopResume also offers paid premium services related to resume

Thank you for allowing us to respond to this complaint
For those that are unaware of Glassdoor, our mission is to help people everywhere fine the jobs and companies they loveOne way we do this is by allowing employees of companies to
leave anonymous reviews about their employers for others to consider
I am sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with your Glassdoor experienceI hope that we can address some of your concerns hereIf you still have further questions afterwards, please feel free to contact our Community Care Team at ***@glassdoor.com
We strongly encourage balanced reviews from users, and specifically ask users to leave both a pro and a con, because we believe there are always positives to every workplace, and opportunities for all companies to improveIn fact, the average rating for companies across Glassdoor is (out of 5) and 70% of users say they are "OK" or "Satisfied" with their job and companyFor more information on our Community Guidelines and our requests to users, please visit http://help.glassdoor.com/article/Community-Guidelines/en_US/
Due to the diversity of our community, it's possible that something could be disagreeable or disturbing without meeting the criteria for removalAs people share their workplace experiences, there may be cases where reviews offer details of workplace misconduct, personal experiences that are negative and/or personal opinions about a member's experiences working at an employerThese reviews are people's own opinions and not those of Glassdoor
When it comes to whether or not the substance of the Reviews on Glassdoor are true or false, it is often impossible for us to make that determinationWe do not remove content in these circumstances, as we do not feel that we can act as the finder of factGlassdoor's general position is that a review is valid from the standpoint that it is one person's personal experience of their job and company
To create fairness for employers, we created the option to post an employer response on reviewsThis allows the employer and employee to give both sides of the storyWe believe a thoughtful, professional response can not only balance a negative review, but showcase the employer's true 'employer brand' to those reading the reviewWhen the employer responds, the response is shows to all others reading the reviewStatistically users will read 4-reviews, and employer responses, prior to making their determination on a companyThis is why an Employer Response is such a valuable toolMembers will be able to see a review, and the response, and will use their best judgment in the situation
We strive to have the most helpful and balanced site for job seekersWe believe in minimal censorship and allowing a robust conversation within our communityWhile we may disagree personally with the tone a member (or employer) might use, we believe in their right to voice their opinion about their work experience
Thank you again for allowing us to reply
Glassdoor also offer many free resources (ebooks, webinars, etc.) for employers on how to manage their profileYou can view those resources here: http://employers.glassdoor.com/ebooks/

Manager, Content & Community - Glassdoor

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/22) */
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond in writingGlassdoor does not remove reviews in exchange for compensation, no exceptionsReviews may be published on Glassdoor and then removed from the website for various reasonsFirst, a
user is always capable of deleting their review at any timeSecond, we perform periodic quality checks on our data and if it is determined that a piece of content violates our guidelines, it gets removedThird, any user can utilize our flag feature located below each piece of contentThis triggers our content moderation team to take a second look at the review and if the team determines it violates our guidelines, it is removed
Additionally, the review that is the most recent is the review that is at or above the star ratingThis is the same for ALL companies, not just clientsA client can choose a review to "feature" at the top of their page, but that does not hide or reject any other reviewsGlassdoor clearly marks that review as "featured" to let users know the employer has chosen to showcase it

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/10/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1) The response did not address the issueGlassdoor is a marketing PR companyTo raise the average, Any one can submit a star positive review that only contains fluffThe sole reason is to raise the average to help companies recruit
So anyone can submit an empty star review to increase the average
2) The negative reviews are removed, even if they do not violate their rules
3) Glassdoor shows the "popular" reviews foremost, which are star reviews but have very little (1-flagged as helpful) community support or user supportThese are not popular !!
Everyone with half a brain knows that these are strategically placed by Glassdoor
the POPULAR reviews should be the ones flagged as most helfpul
4) therefore, this is a Marketing/PR firm , NOT a reflection of what is going on at a company for employees
and Glassdoor is committing FRAUD
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/11/11) */
Thank you for the folland opportunity respondFirst and foremost, we feel it is important to clarify Glassdoor's business model as we believe the questions in this complaint highlight a misunderstanding of our mission, product offering and day-to-day business practices
Glassdoor's mission is to help people everywhere find a job and company they loveAs such, our business is focused on jobs and employer branding, and we work to feed the needs of both job seekers and employers
Specifically, we enable people to share company reviews, CEO approval ratings, salary reports, interview reviews and questions, benefits reviews, office photos and moreAnd for 3,employers, we offer recruiting and employer branding solutions
With that stated, we'd like to address the specific questions posed in the complaint
"They need to accurately define what they doThey are marketing promoters for employers."
The above accurately explains Glassdoor's business, which is accurately, and consistently, explained across our websiteAdditionally, we make it clear on our employers website, Glassdoor for Employers, that we sell products to employers to enhance their brand presence on Glassdoor and promote their jobs
"Their popular reviews & posts are heavily skewedReviews posted by employees that are not in violation of Glassdoor's requirements are frequently removed & cleansed."
Glassdoor does not write the reviews featured on the site; they are written by current and former employeesAs such, if collective reviews are perceived to be skewed in one direction or another for any given company, they reflect the opinions of the current and former employees, not GlassdoorAlso keep in mind that 70% of users that have left reviews report to be 'OK' or 'satisfied' with their job and companyWe do reserve the right to remove reviews if they do not meet our publicly posted community guidelines and terms of usePlus, any company or individual can flag any posted review as "inappropriate" which results in additional Glassdoor screening to ensure it meets our guidelines and terms of use
Additionally, we have a multi-tier review process that includes human and technological review to ensure user-generated content meets our community guidelines and terms of useFor example, during this process, we look to minimize systemic abuse of the Glassdoor platformIf we find evidence of a user posting multiple reviews for the same company, we will remove all contributions associated with that userRead more about our community guidelines and terms of use: http://help.glassdoor.com/article/Community-Guidelines/en_US/
"They have Popular Views indicated as the ones with the highest star ratingsGlassdoor is skewed & weighted toward the employer to drive the weighted average up for recruitment purposes."
Listings of reviews on individual company pages on Glassdoor can be sorted in three ways, "popular," "date" and "rating." The page default is "popular," which takes many factors into account (including reviews marked as "useful" by other users and how recently they were posted) and presents reviews that most closely reflect the average company rating as shared by all employees who provided reviews for that employerThis ranking algorithm cannot be adjusted by employers, and is consistent across our website
"Glassdoor is falsifying what a company's condition & employment practices truly are thus potential employees are not given an accurate and truthful picture."
Glassdoor does not edit or alter reviews, we are consistent with our moderation processes and list rankings across our website site, and feel we accurately represent that data and reviews supplied by current and former employeesWe take the integrity of our data very seriously, and we do everything we can to provide a platform of transparency to help job seekers find a job they love
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/11/21) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1) The Popular reviews are based on star reviews rather than what customers click on as "helpful"
The business can state what they wish in their response
So when a customer goes to a company's reviews, they see the "popular" reviews first
2) Employees/Company HR, posts star reviews with no deep meaningful content solely to drive up the average of the company
3) Glassdoor does not clearly explain what how the Popular reviews are rated
4) Glassdoor may not edit the reviews nor write them, but its weighted heavily on the employer side
HR can post for example reviews all stars to solely drive up the average and all they say in the star reviewsis " its a great place to work"
This should not be permitted
the purpose of writing reviews t o solely drive up the average
doesn't give the employees and potential employees an accurate view of the company
If I go to Glassdoor, It's unclear why HR can post fluffy empty star reviews to drive up the average
They can complain about bad reviews' content but if you read the bad reviewsthey say the same thingthus, its inaccurate, why Glassdoor chooses to remove some and not others
It's unclear as a consumer, why the Popular reviews are visible firstand why they are all star reviews rather than the ones which end consumers flag as most helpfulThis in itself shows that Glassdoor is purely a marketing play

We have replied to this user multiple times to let them know that we do not have a review tied to the email account they are using.  Therefore, there is no way we can remove a review that we do not believe is their review (which is what they are asking us to do).   If the user is able...

to email us from another email account which they may have written a review, then we can help them remove a review.

Glassdoor's response is unacceptable. They continue to be in violation of our Trademark and Copyright rights.
They claim to have a legal right to post our name which is not true.
They are in direct violation of our trademark by posting our name without our consent. Furthermore, they are making false statements to the public regarding our trademark and have failed to provide proof to substantiate their claim. Remaining anonymous is not a defensible legal claim.

Manager, Content & Community

Good afternoon [redacted]
I hope this email finds you well.
My name is[redacted] and I am the VP of Customer Success at Glassdoor.  I understand you've had some frustrations with respect to the cancellation, or lack thereof, of your Glassdoor services post initial...

request.  I apologize this is the experience you've had and hope you'll allow me to walk you through the details of what we've done in canceling your account and refunding dollars to your credit card.
Per our records, a sales order, #[redacted], was signed by you on April 29, 2016.  The terms of that order state "Beginning 90 days after the Effective Date, this Agreement may be terminated by either party for any reason upon 30 days prior notice."  With that language in mind, the earliest date termination could take effect would be 120 days after the effective date of the contract, August 27, 2016 - 90 days plus the 30 day notice period.  Our records indicate an email requesting termination was sent on August 1, 2016 to take effect thirty days later on August 31, 2016.  Glassdoor should then be refunding any unused fees post that termination date of August 31, 2016.  It appears as if there were two payments processed against your credit card after August 31, 2016.  Those payments were in the amount of $1,500 each for a total of $3,000.  I confirmed with my Finance team that we processed those two refunds today.
[redacted], again, I apologize for your experience with Glassdoor.  It is certainly not our intent to leave you with the impression that we did not value you as a customer and that our processes were confusing and frustrating.  Each and every customer is important to us.  With that in mind, if there is anything at all I can do for you in the future, please do let me know.
Best,
[redacted]
