Review: I obtained this company when my son was arrested in Va. and put in [redacted] Regional Jail. I put $40.00 on my phone so my son could call me collect. He called me 1 time at a cost of $4.25 on Feb. 20 2014. I received an invoice from them showing this charge in addition to 4 additional fees they charged on the 28th. After all charges I had a credit balance of $30.50. I called them today, July 8 to have my money credited back to me. They told me that I had 90 days to do this and because I waited I now have a zero balance...I asked them why does it not state that on my invoice , he could not tell me other than I have a zero balance. I have the invoice I would like to share with the Revdex.com however I have no way to attach it to this complaint...I hope I get an answer from you, and a resolution to this. thank you

Review: they r suppose to charge 2.50/ call if its a local call. [redacted] has too many people and now uses [redacted] area codes for [redacted] since the [redacted] has run out. so I called my [redacted] provider and asked if this is [redacted] they say yes. because why would I have a [redacted] number when I stay in the [redacted] area? they also gave me achoice to change it to a [redacted] instead of my current [redacted] which is also coming up to them as a [redacted] number. I spoke with a suporvisor [redacted] id #[redacted] several times asking her to fix my charges of long distance which is $7.16 per call instead of 2.50. she insist that its a [redacted] number and so is the [redacted] I told her I cannot get a [redacted] # they r no longer available and for several years [redacted] has also been considered local. she refuses to change that or call [redacted] or give me with her superior and says if I cannot get a [redacted] # then I must pay the $7.16 per call? even thought my number is a [redacted] number? so I am getting ripped off and cannot even speak to another person about this issue she says she cannot do anything not even write a complaint to her superiors to fix this issue for the future even? im stuck with her and she is as high as it goes! this is insane and I feel if my phone company and all other cell phone carriers give out [redacted] area codes as [redacted] numbers than why am I being charged for long distance? and if I cant get a [redacted] number than I have to be ripped off? its not my fault [redacted] is overpopulated and it is not fair for me the consumer I live more than 2 hrs away from [redacted] and know no one there? my friends call me from thier house phones and payphones fine sooo why r they insisting?Desired Settlement: I want them to do whatever has to be done to fix this error. I have no choice and it is suppose to be a [redacted] number according to most cell phone companies. I want them to adjust my billing or refund my money and make it local since it [redacted] is suppose to be local for [redacted] for several years now ive never had a issue before

Review: I had set up an account with [redacted] on March 17, and cancelled my account on March 19, When I called [redacted] on March 19, I requested that my account be closed and a refund to be sent to my at my home addressI was advised on March 19, that the refund would be sent within thirty (30) daysWhen I called [redacted] back after the days had lapsed, I was advised that I was mistaken, that the refund takes thirty "business days" to process then it would taken an additional thirty days to receive it in the mailEvery time I contact [redacted], I am told that it will take an additional thirty days to receive my refundIt is now ninety-seven (97) days since I requested my refund and I have still not received itI spoke with a customer service representative named [redacted] on June and [redacted] advised me that there are "many many" people waiting for their refund and not receiving it and he could not tell me anything moreI just have to waitI was told that the check was mailed on May 6, 2014, however, I have not received itI receive all of the Account Summary letters from [redacted], but I have not received my checkI have confirmed that the "original" check was never cashed so I do not understand why this company continually lies to its customers and does not send the refunds to its customers.Desired Settlement: I would prefer that the refund be credited back to my debit card instead of a check since it is obvious that the checks are never actually sentIf I paid with my debit card, there should be no problem issuing a refund to my debit cardIf I must have to get my refund by check, I want proof that the check was not only written, but sent to me in a way that I have to sign for it, to prevent it being delivered incorrectly

Review: Refund has been owed to phone number account ###-###-#### since Jan. 10, 2014. Told it would be refunded in 30 to 60 days, then told after sixty days it would be another 30 days before it made it's way into banking account by direct deposit. Three weeks ago told it was in process and would be refunded to the account in 7 to 10 work days. I am very tired of the run around and I am sure they are collecting interest on this money and do not want to let any moneys leave them. This is my grandson's money that I am his rep payee over and this company are total thieves as it is and we want this money back. We would like you to let them know that we have filed this complaint with you and that they need to send the refund.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

Review: When I signed up to open an account for pre-paid phone access for an inmate, it was never disclosed that there would be a fee of $6.00 every time you add money onto the account. Had I known this in advance I would have put enough money on the first time to last the entire time of the inmate's sentence. And now when I attempt to get a refund for the money I have left, they tell me there is a $5.00 fee for the refund! This also is not disclosed. I only have a $5.98 balance remaining and it costs $5.00 to credit that to my credit card they already have on file?! No other business ever has charged me for a refund. This is outrageous, especially since the information is not disclosed before. If they did tell you ahead of time, then you could make a decision as to whether it is worth it to proceed or not.Desired Settlement: I would like the entire balance of $5.98 refunded. In addition, I would like a refund of $6.00 for the initial opening of the account since there was no information as to this fee. The second time I added money to the account I was doing so with the knowledge of the fee. Therefore, a total refund of $11.98.

Review: Talked on phone to representative of global tel*link, paid in full $25, as the transaction was BEING PROCESSED, she said she would be subtracting an account fee which was hefty, when all was said and done I had a 13.01 balance to talk to someone in a county jail. I just received a bill for an additional $1.10. I called the company and they said it was tax on the calls! I already paid tax on the transaction, $1.68. No one told me I'd continue to get a bill for more money. I received two phone calls totaling 9 minutes for my $25.00. The jail system has created a money grabbing company to financially assault people who need to contact loved one who land in jail.Desired Settlement: $1.10 refund, as I was told I didn't have to pay it, but it would go to collection.

Review: When setting up account in order for inmates at a correctional facility to be able to call you, they describe charges as one time fees and charge them repeatedly. they also list charge amounts that differ from what you are charged. When contacting them they give different amounts then what was charged and what wold be charged . A concrete answer is never given as to what you are being charged for and what the actual rates are. When viewing the payment pages amount shown is not what is charged.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my account credited to what it should be and that the business no longer charges for things that are not mentioned or described or even told about to the consumer

Review: My husband was detained on 10/4/13 and I purchase $25 worth of calls from Offender Connect. My husband and I spoke maybe two to three times within a couple of hours. He was released that same day and I had a balance left of $19.43. I called 10/7/13 to cancel and requested a refund of the balance. I was informed that there was a $5.00 cancellation fee which left my balance at $14.43. After waiting until 10/25/13, I called to see why my money wasn't put back on my card and I was told that the numbers given to my debit card wasn't correct. So I gave the number once again. I waited until 11/8/13 to call back and was told once again that their was an issue with my card and I would have to wait another thirty to sixty days before I get my money back. There wasn't any issue when I gave it to them to take the money off when I purchased the $25 so why is it all of a sudden proble** putting my money back on there? I don't feel comfortable giving my card information any longer....I shouldn't have to wait a total of four months or so to get what's owned to me.Desired Settlement: I think this business has the responsibility to give me the money I'm owed To be sent a check with the balanced owed which is $14.43

Review: I called Global Tel Link's automated pre-paid phone service. ###-###-####. The auto-mated machine said that the card could not be processed. I have money in the account. But for some reason they took the money out of the checking account, but I did not get my phone time? They said that is was on the bank side and not Global Tel Links. I just don't understand how they took the money out of the bank but I did not get money on my phone account? I called the customer service number ###-###-####. They just weren't very helpful and I'm just confused about this situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Review: after a $5.75 collect phone call GTL placed a block on my home phone. I called them and asked them to remove the block but they stated they couldnt. I know this to be false because on 11-5-2013 I called them to remove a block on a different phone number and with no problem or hesitation they did. The person I talked to didnt hesitate to remove the block or tell me he couldnt, he just did. Now today with a different person they are saying they cant.Desired Settlement: take block off my home phone so that I may receive collect calls.

Dear **. [redacted]

This letter serves as a formal response to the complaint listed above.

The customer contacted the Revdex.com because she was informed by GTL that if she would like to continue to receive calls fron an inmate at the Glen Helen Reception Facility she will have to establish an Advance Pay account. [redacted] would like to continue to have the calls billed to her LEC.

We investigated this complaint and determined that **. [redacted] had exceeded the velocity threshold limit, when a customer exceeds the velocity threshold we ask the customer to set up an Advance Pay Account.

The velocity thresholds are not set forth by her Local Exchange carrier but by where the call originates from - GTL’s phone platform at the facility. Customers like herself that receive a high amount of calls within various interval could be subjected to opening a prepaid account that needs to be funded through various channels (e.g. check, money order, credit cards). This practice in standard in the industry and there are hundreds of thousands of customers utilizing this service every month.

GTL anticipates that this will close this complaint and should you have any additional questions please feel free to call.

Sincerely yours,

Review: I received two phones calls both of which ended abruptly after less than two minutes. These calls were prepaid with a debit card. I then proceeded to call Global Tel Link and advise of what happened to get my money refunded. The first agent I spoke with advised that because I had received my phone calls on a cell phone, their policy states that I could not get a refund. So I asked to speak with a supervisor. The escalation team continued that the policy wouldn't allow for a refund. I advised the agent, that they can not force me to uphold a policy that I had not agreed to or had any acknowledgement of, and again requested that my funds be refunded. She verbally agreed to refund one of the calls but not for both. I then asked to speak with her manager. After about five minutes of requesting a live supervisor and not a call back within 34 to 48 hours she placed on hold for about 5-10 minutes. When the supervisor came to the phone, I could immediately tell that she had an attitude and did not want to be bothered with me and my request. I kindly advised her that I have been using this service for some time now and that of all the times I had disconnected phone calls, this was the first time I was calling in for a refund. She acknowledged that the calls disconnected back to back but stated that I would not be getting a refund nor will she acknowledge the one time refund the previous agent offered. This company has a monopoly on providing this type of phone service, therefore it treats its customers with utter disrespect. I tried to reason with these people on a business and human level, but they clearly do not care about customers only about money.Desired Settlement: Global Tel Link should refund me for at least the one phone call that their agent agreed I could get.

Dear **. [redacted]

This letter serves as a formal response to the complaint listed above.

The customer contacted the Revdex.com because she had 2 calls back to back that disconnected prematurely and she is requesting a refund for one of the calls.

We attempted to contact **. [redacted] via phone however we were unable to reach her by phone so we sent her the resolution via an e-mail. **. [redacted]’s account reflects that when she called GTL the GTL supervisor offered **. [redacted] an adjustment on her account in the amount of $2.77 which is the cost of one call from [redacted], Texas. **. [redacted] refused the supervisors offer. **. [redacted] was advised correctly by the GTL supervisor that accounts created with a cell phone are created at the “customer’s own risk”. GTL does not guarantee service on cell phone accounts. We have issued a onetime courtesy credit in the amount of $2.77 giving **. [redacted] account a balance of $3.35.

GTL anticipates that this will close this complaint and should you have any additional questions please feel free to call.

Sincerely,

Review: They are behind in refunds, ask for a supervisor and not getting one, not given refunds in a timely fashion, rates are out of this world, wants to charge you for a refund of your own money for example you put $25.00 on the account and they charge you $6.95 to put money on the account and when you go to close the account they want to charge you $5.00 to get your refund. They take for ever to answer the phone when you call.Desired Settlement: Want this handled not in 30 days but right now

Review: I have tried to talk to Global Tel Link about the blocking of my phone for collect calls. They have told me that I have exceeded the amount of collect calls that I can receive. The person that has been calling collect has only been calling once a month and to my knowledge this is not exceeding the call limit. I have tried to explain that I only allow one call a month. Why should my phone be blocked from collect calls? I have received only one call per month for about a year now. This has never been a problem before. Shouldn't the company let me know before they can block my phone from receiving collect calls? I don't have any other way for the person to communicate with my daughter and I and would really appreciate the company to unblock my phone so that I can receive one call per month from this person. After all it is a family member who is communicating with me. I think that this company needs to practice good business habits. I know that Global Tel Link has a bad rap. I think that this company better change their policies a bit before things get out of hand. Can you please help me in this matter? My understanding is that they block the calls if you make too many calls within the month. I know that there are people out there in the same boat as I am and they would like a little bit of a relief out there. After all most people are not working and can't afford to get a prepaid account with Global Tel Link. Many people would like to be able to receive one phone call a month without too much problem. It would make my life a bit better. I am on a limited budget and can't afford the prepaid account. I also know that it can be costly every month for me to do this. I would like for Global Tel Link to unblock my phone and let the person call me once a month like he has been doing for a year. I don't like dealing with Global Tel link if all they do is make it harder for people to have communication with their family members. I was not informed about the block on my phone until I called them today( Feb 26). I received a collect call on Feb 14 without too much problem. Please try to help me in this matter. It would be greatly appreciated. maybe there can be another company that can take over since Global Tel Link refuses to help people out when they really need to have communication with their family members. Thank youDesired Settlement: I want Global Tel Link to remove the block on my phone so that I can receive one collect phone call from an inmate a month. Is this too much to ask?

Review: I paid GTL $50 in order to speak to an inmate in [redacted], OH. The first couple weeks of speaking to the inmate went fine. Then they cut off the serice and claimed that I cannot use their service using my cell phone. They lied and said I had never spoken to the inmate. Now they have my $50 and say they can't refund it because I paid them online with credit cards for the services.

I have the proof on my phone of how many times I talked to the inmate, what days, what time and for how long.Desired Settlement: Either give me my $50 back or reconnect the service.
