biggest law breaker in NYC
To be denied by voucher insufficient but the truth is they flip the numbers. To make me not qualified. And to go further. They say water is not included which is okay electricity is usually not included and for them to bring up water not being included and reason for my denial has CCHR investigating and DOB.

And I read all the reviews. And one from 2017 caught my eye.

The person said they noticed how when contacted about voucher for a unit that fit the budget they change the rent higher.

Well that’s something I guess they do on a regular. Cause I got proof of how many times each unit rent has change under 1 yr only I am pretty sure nyc laws states the rent raise is when a tenant leaves. And the rents been changing multiple times. Including the one I applied for

I am guaranteed they doing some illegal stuff but CCHR & DOB HPD are already working on it.

I love this review for other people to get encouraged to take action and not be afraid.

Because if we break the law we get consequences so should they too. Just cause their a companies doesn’t mean their not humans behind running the company they should be hold accountable as well like any other human or entity

Another thing about the water if is not included in the rent. I am responsible for it and shouldn’t be denied because of it.

The utility allowance was explained to me. Anything not included I will be responsible for it. And I knew that but they not wanting to approve my application cause of voucher insufficient
But they flip my actual budget to not make me qualified

My budget with cooking gas included is 2302. They told discrimination source that my budget of 2203 is not enough but I’m my budget there is not choose amount is only 2302 which makes me qualified for the unit as is 2299 with a promotion of 2 months free when I applied Jan 9 2023

They taking their sweet time to address this matter

also the water bill has to be in my name. If is under the building and they bill it into the rent monthly that is not legal right there it was stated by DEP today as I spoke with them also to get my facts before anything

STAY AWAY THEY ARE GOING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY WITHOUT RECEIPTS
STAY AWAY. They are going to try to charge you for their renovations and REFUSE TO PROVIDE RECEIPTS.

I stayed at the Park Towers South property for 7 years. Do not stay in any of their properties. Based on my experience they are completely disrespectful of their tenants, treat their staff terribly, and they are going to try to steal your deposit without providing any proof. First, I have personally seen members of the landlord's family who reside in the building treat the doormen extremely rudely and yelling at them in the lobby in front of tenants. In 2022, this behavior is unacceptable. A privileged individual should not be allowed to treat their employees in that way simply because of the inequity in power. Second, their behavior throughout the pandemic was horrific and very disrespectful to the tenants (constant renovations during which you could not be in your apartment and the landlord's refusal to take into account the disturbance they were causing). Third, I moved out a few days ago and now they are trying to charge me with renovations of the apartment claiming that I cause damage that I never did (e.g., stains on the floor that were there when I moved in and curtain rods that were also there when I moved in). They also want to charge me $100 for a set of keys! Similarly excessive amounts are listed on the list of purported damages. I offered to mitigate the damage but they refused and insist that I pay the arbitrary amounts they set without ANY proof or invoices from contractors. When I said I would pay the invoices as soon as I received them, their lawyer threatened me with a summons and complaint and said that I could subpoena the bills through litigation. I suspect that they are about to wholly renovate the apartment (like they have done with others before and they are just trying to squeeze money out of me even though they are going to completely tear down everything-- this is the type of people you will be dealing with). They are asking for money but refusing to provide receipts! That is the level of bad faith I am dealing with. You can contact me and I am happy to give you the full rundown as well as recommendations for other buildings in that area. Do not live in a building of people who are going to try and steal your money, do not respect their tenants and mistreat their employees.

Subsequently, voucher discrimination must be looked into at Goldfarb's properties. The New Rochelle office of this corporation is in dire need of a thoro assessment. They are biased and degrading, and they treat voucher holders like a second-class citizen.

The authorized harbor house apartment had a price of $2,299, which was too high for my voucher and led to its cancellation.
My application for that apartment was canceled on Monday, September 19th, and I then asked that it be transferred to another apartment in Drake House whose rent was more in line with my voucher. We found out on September 22 that the Drake House apartment would be our new home. Finally getting in touch with someone on October 1st, I was told that the apartment had been rented out to someone else the day before. I was astonished!

As of October 4th, a two-bedroom at Harbor House was being offered at the price of my voucher. I sent an email to the leasing office requesting that my application be forwarded to that apartment since the Drake house had been rented without my knowledge. Before I could receive a response from the company, the price had already been raised above the value of my voucher. After I followed up once more, I was informed that the prices would remain the same and that I should send evidence of this. I was told after giving another "evidence" that the photo appears dated but that prices do fluctuate and that I should apply again whenever I was ready.

On Monday night/Tuesday morning, a two-bedroom suite at the Harbor House became available for the price I had on my voucher. I called the office to let them know that I had resubmitted my application. At that point, I was told that my application will be denied because of their 60 day rule. Since my voucher has expired owing to their carelessness, I have nowhere to reside. They were experts at blocking my rental, I’m positive this is their practice. This reflects poorly on the Goldfarb company. They advised me to keep looking in the New York region and to contact my case worker if I needed any further help.

Wow! Really, I can't even. The property managers might have saved me some effort by just stating that they do not accept vouchers. I was addressed to and treated like a peasant. I've decided to lobby our local government officials and state representatives on my behalf. As a single mother who has fallen on hard times as a result of covid, you can imagine how this corporation has made me feel: suicidal. They should NOT be allowed to treat anyone this way!

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: [Your Answer Here] On Monday, April **, 2015, I received a call from a representative from Goldfarb PropertiesBefore acknowledging the Revdex.com complaint they had received, he asked me if I wanted an apartmentI told him that he was one of many people who called me over the last few days and I was still not interestedTo be clear, my lack of interest in signing a lease was based on my belief that Goldfarb was not forthright in its advertising and based on my experience at the open houseOn my phone call, I was told that one-bedrooms with a balcony were available for the original advertised price of $However, my concern was two fold: (The photos (and accompanying blue print) on the ads were not of the unit he was referring toAs someone who has worked in property management before, I understand the concept of "model" units, however, the blue print on [redacted] and other public ads, was not of the $unitIt was not until I filed my Revdex.com complaint, that ads were updated with more accurate information(2) I told the representative on the phone that the person at the Open House told me that if I wanted a one-bedroom with a balcony that it would cost more than $Therefore, despite the fact that a unit did exist, the property management representative at the open house was either not properly informed, or was giving information.I was not pleased with receiving a phone call on April [redacted] before the business formally responded to the complaintI was also not pleased with being put on speaker phone in the middle of my conversationI told the representative that I did not appreciate being called every day to ask if I was signing a leaseAs an adult, I do not need to be reminded or forced into signing a lease because apartments are moving quicklyIf an apartment is not available when I am ready to sign a lease, then it was not the apartment for meTwo days later, on April ***, I received another phone call from a leasing agent at Goldfarb asking if I was going to sign a lease In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above Sincerely, [redacted]

I lived in Harbor House (29 Davenport) for one year. While the location is nice, the apartment - also decent bones - was infested with *roaches.* I spent the first few months complaining about the roaches, which swarmed in my kitchen and bathroom. I finally spent my own money to blanket both kitchen and bathroom in insecticide, which mostly tamped down the problem.

The hallway reeked of pot - so bad that the landlord finally had to put up signs on nearly a daily basis.

BEWARE: Goldfarb neither checked me in nor checked me out. I was smart enough to take video of the apartment at both move-in and check-out. After over two months of waiting for my security deposit, they tried to dock me over $1,100 for scratches to floor and damage to countertops (yes, the same countertops I almost never used because they were swarming with roaches. Did I mention that the stove burners did not work?).

I have filed complaints with the Attorney General's office in New York, with the RevDex.com, and will now proceed to do so here. I can afford to handle the financial hit - and to battle it out and get my money back. I feel awful, however, for lower-income people who cannot. This kind of financial hit would be devastating.

The complainant filled out an application that specifically stated pets were not allowed at the building she was applying for residence inWith knowledge of this fact, she proceeded to fill out an
application and pay for a credit and background checkIt is unclear why the complainant would fill out an application and pay for a credit check knowing pets were not allowed and she had two dogs, but company will refund credit application fee to complainant's credit card

Truthfully I was hesitant to apply for these apts because I have Section 8 and did my research as well, read in article from 2017 that Goldfarbs has been accused of discriminating against renters with vouchers. The only thing I have good to say was they had a good response time with start of application to denial. I took my chances because although I have a voucher I also have a reputable career, fair credit but still was denied with a reason of "credit insufficient"
Which is a vaque reason, I reviewed my tenant screening report everything stated meet mgmt criteria but my spouse score was 5 points below 650. But even if the report had errors Goldfarb does not allow you to dispute the decision which is unfair. They stated the decision is final but I can still dispute the info on the report and cannot reapply for 60 days. I think they just want to have a record that they do allow voucher holders to apply but never intended to rent the apt. I would like it to be investigated to see if they have any voucher tenants. My score was over the required 650 and I dont think my application should have been rejected, they could have even requested an additional security deposit or upfront tenant portion. Also why request additional documents if I didnt meet the credit screening criteria. The employees do come off rude but I can get over that my job is much harder believe me. I should be refunded my credit fee because they also post on zillow where you can get a report for $29.00 and I paid $100.00 for nothing.

I want my application fee returned. I also want this businesses practices investigated to make sure they are acting fairly and not taking advantage of people by collecting fees from prospective tenants who they discriminate against. I have good debt (mortgage and student loans), own rental property, and my credit score is in the 700s. Yet I was denied access to rent at this building for $1800 per month.
