Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Just think about Green Light's response. They are stating the car went through check before selling it. They are also stating they went above and beyond to fix the issues.

The issues were...

there when we bought it and if not they would not have had to go above and beyond to fix them.
In addition, the issues persist. They never fixed them. The car has been undrivable and still is.

We would expect them to stand by their car as they stated they would. The sequence of events of how many times we had it towed and to where  was sent to your agency and to them.

Each dealership and mechanic we brought the car to responded the same. ( This car should never have been sold). what they said they fixed, they did not.

They should take the car back and return out money. We are out 11,000.

Review: My son, [redacted], and I purchased a 2003 BMW X5 on 12/26/13. On the retain purchase agreement it was noted that the dealer was to provide parts to fix the door handle and caps that were missing on the front of the vehicle. This was to be completed 14 days from the purchase date. My son has texted the owner several times and we have not received the parts. Now, three months later, I would like the money to fix the problem, since clearly the owner isn't honoring the contract.Desired Settlement: In order to have these items taken care of in Great Falls MT, the cost is 387.00. After three months of waiting I believe the owner should pay the cost.

Review: The dealer added on a $199 vin window fee that I did not request.

They advised me that every vehicle that is sold with this "vin window fee" and that will save me 10% on my insurance. I was never advised of this fee until I requested the total purchase price before I came to pick up the vehicle. I was told that the owners of the company require this. The also made it sound like that I had to accept this.Desired Settlement: The removal of the $199 fee and that all customers should be advised of this when prior to settling on a price on the vehicle.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2013/05/10) */

The Customer was given a full refund of deposit and did not buy a vehicle. The Vin etch fee is clearly posted as required by DMV and thet state of CT . Ihe state of CT requires that it be offered to every customer on every car sold.

Consumer Response /* (2110, 11, 2013/05/13) */

the complaint should be resolved in that we spoke and they dropped the $199 fee for vin etching on the car windows.

Review: Purchased a car from Green Light Auto and the next morning the transmission began to slip. Brought it to a subaru dealer and they determined the transmission needed to be replaced. I purchased a warranty under theassumtion that everything would be covered. But when I called the warranty company they declined to cover the repairs stating that it was a pre-existing condition. contacted [redacted] from Green light. He said I neede to speak to [redacted]. He trans fered me and I got an answering machine. I leaft a message not return call. Went up to the office in person. And they said they would contact thier warranty rep and he would resolve the issue. As of today they refuse to conatc me to resolve this issue.Desired Settlement: I feel that [redacted] sold this car knowing full well it had a bad transmission and he should in good faith cover the repairs especially since the warranty he sold me is no good.

Business

Response:

We did speak with this customer after he had an issue with the vehicle and spoke with the warranty company several times. The customer came into our building swearing and yelling, and also called swearing and yelling at the employees, we did not call him back because of his constant swearing, yelling and threatening. If he feels he can be professional and courteous, we will stand behind the car as we do to all of our vehicles. We did not have any knowledge about any transmission problems but will stand behind the car and fix it for the customer since the warranty company won't. He can contact Mike at ###-###-#### to schedule a drop off time for us to repair the vehicle by replacing the transmission if it can not be repaired with a transmission with the same or less mileage as the vehicle has on it.

Consumer

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I do not trust them to touch my car If they had owned up to their responsibility in the first place I wouldn't have had to make this complaint.

I have since Replaced the Transmission on my own they should send me a check for the price of the transmission 525.00 and plus the cost of the rental car I needed which was another 300.00 which they still make out because I did the labor myself.

Sincerely,

Review: We purchase a 2004 [redacted] from them on May 13, 2015. They told me, my mother and my step-father that they had to do an emissions test before they can sell us the car. I have contact them by email and they will not send me the emissions report. we have now tried to get it inspected in [redacted] and it will not pass the emissions. if they knew it failed, they should have told us so we could have made an informative decision on buying the car. if this is how they treat their customers, I would recommend that no one every buys from themDesired Settlement: They should have to pay for all repairs that we will have to make to have it pass emissions.

Response:

When this vehicle was sold on the date of 5/13/15 it was emissions compliant in the sate of [redacted], according to the ct emissions website. Also the car was sold as is, we have not heard from the customer since he or she purchased the car. If they need any further assistance with this matter please feel free to call or email the dealership with any questions or concerns.

Review: On June 6 I went to Green light to buy a car with my 21 year old son. I talked with salesmen and finance personnel before driving out there. So many times reassured the company backs their sales 100%. Their motto:"Where Our Success Is Your Satisfaction." I asked if we drive away and in a couple of days have issues, answer, of course we will help you, that is how we succeed. We signed paper work on a 2006 [redacted], price 14,995. The accountant reassured me the check for the registration would be in the mail Monday. I started calling the following week. They sent the check overnight and we received it Saturday afternoon. Now it's 8 days. My son goes to register and the check engine light goes on. He still needs to inspect the car!!!!!!!! When I called I was told I would receive a return call the following morning from someone that would handle this. didn't happen. I called around three, put on hold, shuffled around until the accountant, business manager, not sure of his title, but we signed papers with him. Actually one of the people reassuring me all the way to the point of buying the car that they were an upstanding business. he said, "I must have told you at least Nine times you are buying the car as is. This is by no means good service practice. The car didn't even have functional back up lights!!! Never received a courtesy call. I have bought cars over the years. New cars, used cars, and this has been one poor experience. I don't want any other mechanics to work on it, that it might jeopardize their fixing the car. I read a terrible review on their website involving another [redacted]Desired Settlement: I want this car capable of passing an inspection. Was it coincidence the delays? I feel they are accountable to make this happen.

Response:

The paperwork was overnighted out and the customer was informed of the date and time of arrival. We have 4 records of calls (all stored on the digital phone system) to the customer updating them of the progress and I personally spoke to her and updated her to confirm the delivery address.

As for the check engine light, the customer called us and we told them we would fix the issue at their convenience with no cost to them and to let us know what time worked best for them. They said they were going to take it to their mechanic and get back to us. They did not call us back after 3 days so we called them two more times and left messages (all kept on the digital phone system) to see when they would like to schedule the repair. After a total of three calls to the customer with no return call we figured it must have been a simple repair and they did not want to make the trip back. We do stand behind our cars 100% and are still willing to fix the check engine light here at their convenience if they wish to. They can call [redacted] or ** at ###-###-#### to schedule a time that works for them.

Review: Sales and Service. We bought our son a 2007 [redacted] Legacy in May with about 150,00 miles on it. We understood it was a used car and would need little things eventually but were never able to drive the car yet! The first day my so took it to work he ended up on the side of the road and needed it towed. We have all the paperwork form towing, mechanics, other [redacted] dealers of what their opinions were and what we have been through. We have opinions from [redacted] and other people that said it would cost us 6000 to fix it. We asked for our original purchase refunded and they said no they would fix the car. They have not fixed the car. He had to borrow a car for work for since May. Every time he drives it something goes wrong. I understand your lemon laws, but doesn't a consumer have any protection against totally being deceived of the condition of this car. Not drivable at all. He has not been able to drive the car for one week without it breaking down.It was take back twice to the dealer stating he would make it right. They did not. We recently received the car back and it is leaking oil, gaskets all leaking, needs engine again, and a clutch. The dealer we brought it to said we were royally screwed with this car. Paid 11,000 for a car that he would not have ever sold. Worth 2,500 if we trade it in, if that. Car cannot be driven. Leaking oil all over. The dealer will not make this right. We understand the lemon laws of used cars, however, do we just get lied to and screwed and no car. We have been out towing money, rental cars, etc. Gas millage to get there, cost of 2nd and 32d opinions from reputable local [redacted] dealers telling him this car is a mess and has never had proper repairs. It would have been an auction car and never sold to a consumer. We need help. We have no car, the service agent T.J. manager will not take it back to fix it. Please help us.[redacted] father is [redacted], phone: ###-###-#### [redacted] owner- ###-###-#### our son.He now has a loan for a car that is worthless.Desired Settlement: We would like this resolved by refunding our original purchase amount of 11,000 and taking this car back.If that is not acceptable this car needs to be fixed, but at this point we do not trust that the service department is capable of this resolution. They said they fixed it and did not more than once. We need to start over and get a decent, safe car for our son.

Customer: [redacted]Purchased: 2007 [redacted] Legacy GtPurchased Date: 5/30/15Purchase Type: As Is No Warranties Implied or ExpressedVin: [redacted] Purchase Miles: 127,357This car was purchased in a as is condition, with no warranties expressed or implied. Prior to purchase this car underwent a very thorough safety inspection. This 2007 [redacted] had its timing belt with water pump and head gaskets replaced all with OEM [redacted] parts on top of its normal routine safety inspection. After purchase, Mr. [redacted] had a couple of issues with the vehicle, resulting with the engine needing a full rebuild. Instead of following the AS IS POLICY, Green Light opted to tow the vehicle from [redacted] and rebuild the engine and turbo at no cost to customer. NOTE: NONE OF THE TIMING PARTS OR HEAD GASKETS THAT WHERE JUST USED PRIOR TO SALE WHERE USED IN THE REBUILD OF ENGINE. The engine was sent to a local machine shop, the engine was rebuilt and assembled, with new gaskets and timing components. The car was driven and checked for four days, and each day checked on a lift. Green Light Auto sales feels they went above and beyond in this specific situation and are not sure what will satisfy Mr. [redacted] in the specific situation.Green Light Auto Sales

Review: Recently went to Green Light Auto in regards of purchasing a car. Talked to salesman about a [redacted] with intentions of buying. I was set up with a test drive, and drove the car to test out mechanical features and to see if worked properly. I noticed there was a check engine light, I asked salesman about it and he said it was going to be taken care of, the part was on order but he didn't know what the part was. On December 10th I had picked up the same [redacted] with $2,000 as a down payment, I drove home car with no check engine light, and not even a week later it was back on. Check engine light then went away, and later came on with in the next few days. Now on December 26th as I was driving down the street, the check engine light came back on and the transmission failed, 3rd gear assembly and 4th gear assembly were completely shattered, I was notified by a local transmission shop as an evaluation. They are now doing all the work for $3400 because Green Light Auto can't help me in any single way, I contacted asking about any 30 day warranty that should be covered seeming as I have only had the car since December 10th, 2014. The only solution I was given from Green Light Auto was a discount on labor if I brought it to them, but I would be forced to buy an entire new transmission.Desired Settlement: desired settlement is a refund of cash that I am paying out of pocket for the new transmission internals, the transmission shop quoted me $3400.00 for parts and labor and Green Light Auto should reimburse this or compensate me for it.

Response:

Green Light Auto Sales was more than willing to work with [redacted] in repairing his car. [redacted] purchased the car in "as is" condition without warranty. When he informed Green Light Auto Sales of an issue with his car six days after he experienced difficulty, Green Light offered to provide a transmission at cost, provide all labor free of cost, and cover an other incidental parts needed to complete the repair. This was offered to [redacted] despite the fact that Green Light Auto Sales was not given the opportunity to inspect the car and diagnose the problem as [redacted] chose to bring the car to a different repair facility.

Terrible I brought a nissan from them they never checked it over before they gave it to me. I'v been back there four times with the SUV and each time they claim to fix the problems only to bring it home and realize they never fixed it. I am now bringing to a different mechanic in the area I live milford and am paying well over a thousand dollars to have it fixed. I haven't even had the SUV a year yet.
NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THEM.

Review: This business in which I purchased my vehicle from sold me a lemon. I've had nothing but problems with the vehicle. I've only had the vehicle for six months and so I brought it to a certified Dealership to run a diagnostic and the vehicle was ruled unsafe for the road unless I authorized the needed repairs, including major parts such as the front end suspension and the turbo in the vehicle. I made sure the vehicle was maintained properly from day one of owning it, but the warranty I purchased along with it is refusing to cover damages due to "previous owner." If there were problems this vehicle should not have been sold in that state. Green light auto swore it was inspected 100% which obviously was a lie. On the date of purchase I requested records of all previous repairs on the vehicle and never received them. I contacted them again after about a week and still never received any records. Now I'm going to be stuck in debt with the junk they sold me. The vehicle is worthless right now.If I get no response or compensation I will take further action.Desired Settlement: I would like them to take responsibility for taking advantage of their customers, lying and allowing the purchase of such a lemon that didn't even last half of the first year it was purchased.

Review: Purchased a 2006 [redacted] gt from this dealership, after three days of driving engine light popped on for cam timing sensor. The car was also randomly stalling at stop signs. Later on that night my car stalled at a red light off of an exit off highway 84. It was then I realized that my hazard lights were not functional, and my car would not start. My car was stuck on a major 3 lane exit on a hill without working hazards. Hence full safety check was not complete. I realized when I took a look under the hood I had two turbo leaks via cracked inter cooler and a hose next to the turbo. The dealer diagnosed 40 compression on cylinder 2 and and zero on 4. Dealer explains that car is as is and I may be at fault for this. I paid 11000+ For this vehicle. I don't believe I should have to pay more for repairs on a vehicle I purchased believing it was reliable. The car has been there for a whole week as it is.Desired Settlement: Refund/replacement/compensation

Response:

[redacted] purchased a 2006 [redacted] GT Limited on May 9, 2014 from our business. This vehicle underwent a full safety inspection. Our business spent over $3,000.00 to repair, recondition and provide all necessary and beyond required work to this vehicle for its sale to Mr. [redacted]. Licensed mechanics and ASE certified Master Technicians have performed the work on this vehicle to ensure it was in more than adequate working condition, adhered to all safety, highway, legal and additional requirements. . We take pride in our reputation and our vehicles are cared for at a level that surpasses state or other legal requirements. We go above and beyond what is legally required with many of our vehicles, including this vehicle. All receipts for all parts installed or replaced and all labor is tracked. We also provided Mr. [redacted] hundreds of dollars in free and unrequired labor, diagnoses and other assistance after the sale already. This vehicle was sold "AS IS" and we have a signed Buyer's Guide via the State of Connecticut's requirements and have other forms also signed by Mr. [redacted] accepting the vehicle in its condition at the time of sale. When the vehicle left our facility, it was in good working condition, was safe for legal driving use, and had passed CT Emissions. Mr. [redacted] called us to notify us of his issue with the vehicle on the highway. We agreed to look over and diagnose the vehicle for our customer. During this process no fault codes were found to be stored or pending in the vehicle’s computer. We notified Mr. [redacted] of this, at which point he then informed us that he took it upon himself to independently have codes erased and removed at a local auto parts store when he had his mechanical issue. He also stated that he was driving 85MPH on the highway, and had non-licensed changes made outside of our shop after the sale, including removing the battery cables and reconnecting them to the vehicle prior to having it brought to us to diagnosis his mechanical issues. Even if there was any warranty applicable, Mr. [redacted] would have nulled that with his independent work, tampering with the vehicle and with the erasing/clearing of codes. With Mr. [redacted]'s permission and request, we spent another 8.5 hours taking apart the vehicle and diagnosing it completely for him, all free of charge. We are not legally required to any of the above. We have done as much as we can for Mr. [redacted] at this time and after a full review from our shop, the mechanical issues show that they are possibly from driver misuse, abuse or illegal/excessive speed. Despite no legal requirement to do so, we even offered Mr. [redacted] the option to have us repair his vehicle at our cost for all parts and labor + any applicable sales tax. Should Mr. [redacted] prefer otherwise, he is welcome to have the vehicle towed elsewhere and work performed at another facility at their price, which will likely be much more. We have already spent an excessive amount of time and money to assist Mr. [redacted] in his situation to try to be as helpful to our customer as possible, but this current offer is already costing us more time as we would be tying up our shop bay to work on his vehicle, which keeps us from performing other work, all at our cost and no profit to us. We are already doing much more than we need to do just to be helpful, but that is the entirety of our offer.

Review: This motor vehicle was sold to me without it being out through emissions and the check engine light has remained on since I got the car in august after they claimed to fix the problem. I want to keep the car but if they are not willing to fix the car completely and put it through emissions I want a refund of $8,000 what the car cost and an additional $1,000 in dealer fees for a total of $9,000 I paid for a car that was sold to me illegally because it had not been through emissions per CT lawDesired Settlement: I want my car fixed and put through emissions per Connecticut state law because the car was illegally sold to me without the vehicle being out through emissions

Response:

Mr. [redacted] is incorrect in stating that Emissions was not legal at the time of sale. We could not even register the vehicle with the State of CT DMV without the Emissions test being in compliance. The Emissions test proof can be found in the paperwork that it was compliant and not needed at the date and time of sale. We complete all necessary testing and Emissions and comply with all state and DMV requirements for the preparation and sale of all retail motor vehicles. Mr. [redacted] also had contact with our service manager, [redacted] at the end of August 2013. He called and told [redacted] that the vehicle was running well but the check engine light had come on and that the spare tire was not present. We told him that we would be happy to scan the car and determine what caused the check engine light to come on as well as order him a spare tire immediately. We did so, and the spare tire arrived on 9/3/13. Mr. [redacted] stated that he loved the car and would try to bring the car back in that week. He did not follow up and did not come in to our business. He did not contact us again after that point in time.We attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] two more times to follow up with his check engine light. We did not receive any communication from him at all at any point in time. We still have the spare tire here. It has been sitting in storage for months with no response from the customer.

In regard to the Emissions, we have the paperwork to show that the vehicle was Emissions compliant at the time of safe. It is also available via the State of CT to verify. I'm sorry to state that Mr. [redacted] is mistaken about that claim and it is incorrect. We wish Mr. [redacted] the best and if he would like to pick up his spare tire, we will happily provide it to him. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:I want the emissions paper that tells me my emissions is valid. I was pulled over in Windsor locks, ct and was told by the police department my emissions are invalid if you would like to send me a paper stating my emissions is good for the next two years like it ought to be from date of purchase and I feel the check engine light should be evaluated but as u stated I couldn't find time to get down to Seymour which is an hour away for them to keep fixing my car that they continuously said is fixed so I would like the engine light to be fixed once and for all but now am worried about bringing my car to this dealership

Sincerly

Business

Response:

The CT Emissions was valid at the time of sale. Mr. [redacted] is mistaken to believe that the vehicle or any vehicle sold in the state of CT will have the emissions be complete for another two years after the sale. The emissions are performed as required by the state of CT and are good from two years from the test date. All dealerships are required to sell their cars with valid emissions test compliance. This vehicle was valid at the time of sale. It has since expired. We cannot control the dates a future emissions test is required. After the sale, it becomes the owner/customer's responsibility to comply with all future testing, registration and other requirements. The vehicle would and could not have been registered by DMV without the emissions being valid. That is the proof itself. However, to further validate the proof that the emissions was within compliance at the time of sale, Mr. [redacted] can see for himself at www.ctemissions.com. At that website, he can enter in the VIN# of his vehicle and see that the test date was AFTER the time of sale. The test is simple and costs $20 at any licensed facility that performs emissions. Our business followed all laws and regulations. Everything done here is the standard protocol and procedure for all dealerships in the state of CT.

In regard to the check engine light, Mr. [redacted] was told to bring the vehicle in for us to diagnose. A check engine light can come on due to very minor or non-problematic reasons like a "mileage point" that reminds the customer to check their engine for a tune-up, to fill fluids, to not fully tightening the gas cap after filling the vehicle with gas, or something else. It can be for mechanical reasons as well, but we cannot determine that without the customer bringing in the vehicle to be checked. Mr. [redacted] was given this opportunity and failed to show up within the time frame of his warranty. Almost five months have passed since Mr. [redacted] bought this vehicle and we have no idea what could have happened from the time of the sale. Also, if there was an issue, it could have been made worse or caused further issues with the vehicle's safety or performance with Mr. [redacted] continuing to drive the vehicle without having it checked throughout that time frame. In accordance to the state of CT laws, DMV and all other requirements, our business is not responsible for any of those conditions. Mr. [redacted] needed to come in to have the vehicle checked and did not do so. He is welcome to call the DMV and confirm this information and the laws. We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy, but he did not do his part to bring the vehicle in for the check engine light, he did not even pick up the tire that we ordered for him, and has not returned two follow up calls made by our service manager trying to remind him that we were offering to examine his vehicle and provide him with the spare tire we bought for him after the sale. He did not respond for months. We hope that Mr. [redacted] will comply with the laws of the state and complete his emissions as the required owner. We have double checked and did everything we should have done to honor the warranty on the vehicle and sold the vehicle with the emissions being compliant in accordance with all state laws.

I am rejecting this response because:you never fixed my car completely and the check engine light has been on since I bought the car. How do I pass emissions when you never properly fixed my car and you started avoiding me and would not answer my phone calls back fix my car or it will be apparent that I need to speak to my attorney. I just want my engine light to be fixed as you promised when I was buying the car now I have to put it through emissions and I can't because the engine light is still on after my car has been to your shop 2 times and yet the same problem has occurred since the day I got the car this isn't fair and is not right. I paid you 1,000$ over book value for your "dealer" fees and this is how your going to treat me as a consumer? 9,000$ cash and this is what you do to paying customers?

Sincerely,

I bought a car from Green Light Auto Sales LLC 5 years ago. I also purchased their warranty. I had nothing but problems with the car and no one would take the warranty (or it wasn't covered). Long story short I went to trade it in and it turns out that the car was a rental, then was owned by someone who totaled it and bent the frame. That was when these scam artists got it cheap at an auction and resold it to me. I found all of this out while looking for a new car and trying to trade that one in and they gave me the bad news about the car fax. This company buys sy used wrecks at auctions and pawns them off as trade-in's. Do not buy a car from this place. trust me.

Review: I purchased a 2012 [redacted] on 7/24/14. After I brought the vehicle back to [redacted], I noticed some defects in the paint, mainly around the front bumper, hood and front quarter panels. I brought the vehicle to an auto body repair shop and I was informed the vehicle had been in an accident and the parts that were used to repair the vehicle including the hood were not original replacement parts, as in Dodge replacement parts. The hood has visible paint defects and has two small cracks, which the auto body shop stated the hood is made of aluminum, not factory metal, which caused the cracks. There are several paint defects including overspray and several areas in the front driver side quarter panel where the paint is completely chipped away. There are several paint chips all over the driver side door, hood and quarter panels. There is supposed to be a Dodge emblem on the front panel which is not there. The 392 badge on the side front quarter panels is flaking and missing paint.Desired Settlement: I would like the hood replaced with the original Dodge certified replacement hood and the above listed paint defects repaired.

Response:

We spoke with [redacted] today, August 28, 2014 at approximately 11am, and reviewed his situation. Unfortunately, there is no legal recourse or situation that either our business or [redacted] can pursue about his claim. As the issue is cosmetic, and not mechanically related or a safety issue, the State of CT laws and warranties do not cover any aesthetic or cosmetic issues after the time of sale. Consumers are expected to review the vehicle and except the current condition at the time of sale. The history of the vehicle via both Green Light Auto Sales' purchase invoice from our purchase of the vehicle, and the [redacted] report, are both "clean" and showing no accidents. We have been upfront, honest and open with [redacted] throughout the time of the entire sale and following the sale of his vehicle, and cannot find any evidence or record anywhere of an accident occurring on/with this vehicle. He also purchased the vehicle at almost $6,000 below the [redacted] retail value, so we are comfortable that even if [redacted] prefers to have any paint work or cosmetic body work done to the vehicle, that he will still have a sound investment that is worth more than what he paid for the vehicle.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not accept Green Light Auto Sales explanation that because they claim they were not aware the vehicle had been in an accident due to the [redacted] statement not having any reported accidents. As I explained to the owner's wife, when the car was being detailed prior to delivery, I was told the bumper was being sent out to be painted. So there had to be some damage significant enough that the bumper had to be sent out to be repainted. I was told that there is absolutely nothing that Green Light Auto Sales can do. I asked if they would be willing to pay for some of the repaint on certain areas of the vehicle and I was told that they were not allowed to compensate in any way, even for repainting of the vehicle. I asked if the hood could be replaced with a genuine [redacted] certified replacement part and they were not willing to do that. I feel that since I am not experienced in any way in auto body repair, just as I am not a mechanic, I should not be stuck with a vehicle that had obviously been in an accident and was repaired enough for an untrained person to see the damage.

Sincerely,
