The Good: Crew that performed the install on the house Summer 2018 were experienced and did a good job. The roof had no leaks, and they were prompt & timely. My electric bills are effectively gone.

The Bad: The solar system itself does not perform as advertised. They sold me a 6.71kW system, and in the 10 months it has been in place has never pulled more than 6.01kW under ideal conditions. Additionally the salesperson (Dave Edmonds) grossly misrepresented the functionality of their "proprietary inverter" and the battery system. Instead of a solar system that can power the battery which powers the entire house (even during utility outages), I instead have what is functionally a $13,000 battery UPS for 4 circuits in my house, that requires utility connectivity to work. It's also prone to tripping the breaker they set up, which leaves the 4 critical house circuits on the battery more prone to outages than anywhere else in the house. Huge mistake.

The Ugly: Two months after completing the install I received notice from the company that they had made "a mistake" and "forgot" to charge me Washington sales tax. The salesperson explicitly told me there was no sales tax on Washington installs when we signed the contract and entered into the agreement. Green Ridge Power refuses to honor the agreement we entered into, and did not negotiate in good faith. Despite the fact that our contract makes no mention of sales tax, clearly states the price of the contract is the "entire understanding" between myself & Green Ridge, and was drafted BY Green Ridge, they now expect their customer to pay several thousand more dollars to cover the tax bill that they "forgot" to account for, to cover their mistake.

Rooftop solar is a great idea. If you are considering it you should pursue the implementation with a more professional and honest company.

we were able to resolve this with you. Washington State's program for no sales tax solar projects ran out during the time that your system was sold. We did excuse the sales tax and pay it on your behalf. The battery product was returned as well. We have since moved to LG Chem for our primary battery product, which has much better performance and reliability.

Installation was smooth and my system is working as anticipated. Green Ridge estimated my monthly savings and they were right on target.

I contacted Green Ridge Power to investigate the possibility of installing a solar panel system. They had me sign an electronic form giving them permission to investigate my home and assured me that there was no legally binding commitment and that it simply allowed them to develop a proposal for me. They did come out to do a site survey but never gave me a proposal nor discussed their system ideas or plans with me. I did not hear further from them until I started receiving demands for a payment and asking me when I wanted to install their system. I have never agreed to any purchase nor authorized them to design and develop/install a system for me. Now I am getting emails and phone calls threatening me with legal action and demands for an outrageous payment. A partial copy of one of their emails follows:

Notice of Demand for Payment

Dear Mr ---

Enclosed you will find a copy of your original contract with Green Ridge Power, dated 5/1/2018 in which you agreed to purchase a 11.89kW Solar System for the purchase price of $61,234.

As stated in the contract, any cancellation after the Customer’s Right to Cancel period has expired will incur a charge of the greater of (1) 30% of the total contract price or (2) the cost of the amount of all work that has been done.

As we have incurred significant costs in preparing to install your system related to scheduling, labor, design, inventory, and permitting we are assessing you $18,370.20 (30% of the contract amount).

We hereby demand payment of $18,370.20 paid to Green Ridge Power and either delivered on or before October 15, 2018 to Green Ridge Power, 14889 SW Tualatin-Sherwood Rd, Suite 402, Sherwood Oregon OR mailed to Green Ridge Power, PO Box 1336, Sherwood, OR 97062.

If you fail to make this payment by the date specified please be aware that you will be liable for any and all court fees and expense plus reasonable attorney’s fees incurred in the collection of this debt.

Respectfully,

Alex C

Customer signed an agreement with Green Ridge Power and decided to breach the contract after we started to perform design, site audit, and permitting work. We also performed Energy Trust of Oregon submissions, Utility applications, and federal submissions on their behalf. The customer decided not to move forward with the system after deciding they were going to move to another state. We believe this customer has decided to use the excuse of "not knowing he signed a contract" to get out of paying for the charges and work done this far on his account.

We did perform a pre site audit, the site audit results have been attached. We have the signed contract which has the date and time associated with the e signature.

At this point we wish to settle for the cost of the time associated with preparing his system for installation. We have not heard from the customer since Oct 15th 2018. We have additional call recordings, and email transcriptions that further show the customer intended to have us install a system, and decided to back out after much time passed and work was performed.

Respectfully,

Alex C

I am rejecting this response because:

What Green Ridge Power is asserting in their response is a misrepresentation of the conversations we had with them, if not an outright lie. When I was talked into electronically signing this form with them I made it clear that I was not authorizing any kind of work to be done. I also made it clear that I was only looking for a proposal that I could then compare against other companies proposal. I also made it clear that I wanted s a very detailed proposal about exactly what kind of equipment was going to be installed, what the capabilities were, how and where it was to be located, what trenches I would have to dig and what kinds of contributions I personally would be able to make towards the project (such as digging the trenches, laying concrete, building a small building to house the equipment etc.) . As an engineer myself I insisted that I would need to know these kind of details before I would want Green Ridge to proceed. We have NEVER received any such proposal from them. When I signed this electronic form I explicitly said I did not want to sign it because of the way the wording was expressed. I was told however that I was not agreeing to have Green Ridge proceed with the installation, but that the form was only a preview of what would become the contract if and when we eventually agreed to their proposal. I was explicitly told that I could refuse the proposal at any time and not be liable for anything. I was told that all I was doing was to say I understood what the contract would require and that my signature indicated that I had read and understood it. Again I was told that I was not actually signing a contract to allow Green Ridge Power to move ahead with getting permits, ordering components or doing anything that would require payment. I directly challenge Green Ridge Power to produce a recording of our telephone conversations that proves anything different from what I am claiming transpired between us. MY INTERACTIONS WITH GREEN RIDGE POWER WAS ONLY A REQUEST TO GAIN A ROUGH IDEA OF WHAT A SYSTEM LIKE WHAT I WAS CONSIDERING MIGHT COST, NOTHING MORE. It is ridiculous to think that anyone would purchase such an expensive system without knowing a whole lot more about what was being purchase and based on such little information, as was provided to me by Green Ridge Power about the system they are claiming I authorized them to construct.Furthermore, the assertion that we canceled the project because we moved out of state is an outright lie. We have lived here for 14 years now, in Washington, and have NO plans, never did, to move anywhere else. I am prepared to file complaints with the attorney generals office in both the states of Oregon and Washington, and contact a lawyer and counter sue in court, if necessary, if Green Ridge Power wishes to pursue this matter further. I am outraged by the way I have been treated by Green Ridge and their attempts to pressure me into making this payment.
Sincerely,

Marc C

We signed contract during last few months before the Oregon tax credit expired. All GRP employees were friendly and helpful but the delays were annoying. Eventually all promises delivered and 5 months of operation prove the system is generating electricity as projected. Several call backs were prompt and handled to our satisfaction.

Thank you ***. We did experience a rush of business towards the end of 2017, and suffered delays across all departments. We have worked to make this a non issue and improve our customer experience. Thanks again.

We (myself & ***0 applied to Green Ridge Solar for possible solar installation. We filled out forms on info about us and an application for financing and signed the application for the financing. We were told by the representative that the signatures were just for the financing.
We were accepted for the financing. But when we received the letter from the company we found they were based in Florida. I have had 3 BAD experiences with companies in Florida so I told them I would not deal with them.
The paper work was done in April at the Clark Count Yard & Garden show. Now they keep harassing us, telling us that we have to get the solar because we signed papers ( but *** actually did not sign) and tell us we will be responsible for design and purchase of parts for the solar.

Green Ridge Solar Response • Aug 16, 2018

has been a great customer up until he discovered his consumer financed loan was through a lender out of Florida. *** has had bad experiences with Lenders from Florida. Green Ridge offered to move his loan to another finance partner outside of Florida, but he has decided to stop responding to our business. We are actually quite confused as to what happened as all our communication has been pleasant up until this complaint.

I have attached the contract and proposal that were originally prepared and signed by ***. There is a 3 day ROR period of which *** agreed to, and pass by several months, before deciding to breach his contract. Green Ridge will be forwarding this account over to our attorney for Breach of Contract execution and Collections if required from our Law Firm.
