Gryphon Roofing Reviews (38)

I have never dealt with finding a roofing company to replace my roof. Usually, while growing up, our Father took care of it and we either watched or helped. A lifetime later, I needed my 22 year old roof replaced in order to sell my home. I went through a few people who did side jobs but the warranty wasn't there. I found Gryphon Roofing, requested a Supervisor to come to my home and provide me an estimate and found out that Arizona requires a drip edge which I wasn't expecting. The Supervisor (Brooks) showed up before his scheduled time, climbed up on the roof and a few minutes later provided me a quote which blew me away, it was a great price! I told him of some wood that needed replaced and he said no problem. We got the date to remove the old and add the new roof (2 days). The team arrived, took off the old, replaced with the new, provide new vent covers, took care of the wood replacement, drip edge and before the end of the 2nd day, I had a brand new roof without any issues. If anyone ever asks who I would recommend for their roof work, Gryphon will be the only company that I will recommend. I went down to the office to make my final payment and was treated to a nice cold bottle of water and a very comfortable chair in their conference room while my receipt was being processed. Very Profession, Polite and Customer driven company. Thank You for doing a great job in a short time. Brooks is the man! I just received my warranty this week.

I am very happy with the work Gryphon completed. The scope of the bid fit the repairs needed and the price was reasonable. I will refer them again.

I am VERY pleased with the work Gryphon did for me. I feel as though they were very honest and forthright with me throughout the entire process, and didn't try to upsell me when, in their professional opinion, the work they did would solve my problem. We haven't had a monsoon storm yet, but I feel sure that the inside of my house will remain dry when the season hits. Everyone at Gryphon was a pleasure to work with, and I am happy to recommend them to anyone asking my opinion.

We just had our roof replaced by Gryphon and we couldn't be happier. We were leaning toward Gryphon after getting bids primarily because our sales guy was extremely smart, friendly, helpful, and attentive. Unfortunately he had a family emergency. Bu we were transitioned smoothly to someone new and she was just as great. The price was competitive with 2 other bids we received, and the work is beautiful. The crew was fast, friendly, and neat. I even saw one of them out there with a metal detector of some kind looking for stray nails around the house.

I'm not a roofing expert but we have a complicate roof with multiple peaks and a large flat portion. I've been on the roof many time with the telescope and the difference between the neatness and quality of the new roof vs. the old is like night and day. All the various seams around skylights, the metal whatever-they're-calleds that sick up, etc.. are now neat and tidy, and all that stuff is painted to match, and looks great. Nobody will ever see it but it makes me happy to know the workers took pride in a job that looks great even out of sight.

We had two very minor problems with the install (small alignment problem on the drip guard in one corner, and a spot on the eave in a tight corner where it did not look 100% perfect. Gryphon did a review with us when the work was done and when I pointed these out he sent someone back to fix them the next day.

There was a small additional lumber cost for the wood that had to be replaced. They told me ahead of time that this was likely given the age of the roof, so although not exciting, it was no problem.

The whole experience was A+. Highly recommended.

Review: They were contracted to repair a leak in the roof and to reseal all the flat roof areas. The roof continues to leak. The repair was done wrong. I now have leaks under other areas of the roof into my hallway and kitchen.Desired Settlement: Re do all the repairs. Perform a water test to be sure. Also repair the sheet rock inside where we continue to leak.

To whom it may concern,

We at Gryphon Roofing and Remodeling are always saddened to have a frustrated customer that feels they haven't been treated fairly. We believe that "Service Reigns", and want to take care of this issue quickly.

We have already been out and met with Ms. [redacted], assessed the problem and set a time to return to take care of the problems and any needed repairs. The problem exists in a difficult area of the roof that we have worked on. We are going to take a more extensive approach to the problem, above and beyond what we originally proposed and were paid for but feel it is the right thing to do in this situation. We want to have Happy Customers.

Thank you for allowing us to respond and prove that we stand behind our work.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

They have been out to do the multiple repairs. It took them two days to complete. They are scheduled to do a water test on Fri Oct 4th to see if the leaks have been resolved. If everything is resolved then I will close the complaint.

We were very pleased with the service we received from Gryphon Roofing. First, the Gryphon estimator was the only one to correctly identify the leak point and then immediately put a temporary fix in place. The roofers came and did a great job of protecting ours and neighbors property, and then redoing our roof. The interior drywall crew did such an outstanding job of replacing a large section of the ceiling, that when done, we could not even tell where the problem was. All Gryphon employees were knowledgeable, professional, polite and respectful, and we would certainly call them again should another issue arise.

They were prompt and completed the job leaving things clean and tidy. This is the second job they have done for me and both times explained thoroughly the problems and showed me with pictures. I appreciate their professionalism.

Review: In 2011 I contracted Gryphon Roofing to repair a leak in my roof. I also contracted to have all flat roof sealed with foam. Subsequently I had several other leaks on the opposite side of the house because of the way the flat roof was sealed. After many phone calls and finally a complaint to Revdex.com, they returned and repaired the East side of the roof which is now fine. However the repair to the west side of the house is still leaking. I have called and they do not return my calls.Desired Settlement: Repair the leaks created by the sealing of the flat roof

Response:

Our superintendent met with Ms. [redacted] on 12/20/13 to review the leak. He agreed to send the crew back to seal the other side that is now leaking. This work will be finished soon and the warranty work will be done at no cost to her.thx, [redacted], president

Awesome customer service and quality work for a reasonable price. The roofer was extremely friendly and made sure to clean up everything when he was finished.

The worst experience EVER! I have had a leak in my roof for 2 years now that they have come to "fix" about 7 times! to this day the roof is still leaking. After this last storm it completely ruined my kitchen ceiling. I called for 3 weeks with no return call from them, when I finally talked to their lead guy John he refused to come out without charge since my warranty was recently expired. I explained that even if it expired this is a problem that has not been fixed in 2 years and needed to get fixed! He went on to say that it didn't matter and that they had done all they can, including fixing the dry wall in my house! My roof leaked so much at one point that half the ceiling in my kitchen fell completely off and I was exposed to the rafters, and he thinks he did me a favor by fixing that (pretty sure if my roof had been fixed how they said they would I wouldn't have lost my ceiling!) SO now I have a leaky roof and need to find real roofers to fix my roof! FIND A DIFFERENT ROOFER TO HELP YOU!!! They wont help you!

Apparenty gryphon roofing uses sub sub- contrctors to do there work then claim it as thete own, They legt water damages plywood with mold and several soft plywood pieces, when we asked the sales lady/ aka roofing inspector that never even climbed on the roof to come out and give me an opinion of there work she freeked out on my wife and was so rude to her it was scary, then she didnt even come out she sent the crew leader out who wanted me to pay additional money to fix what he should of fixed the 1st time. Very poor customer sevice and the quality of workmanship was not there. The roof looks great from the outside but what did I really get? Not my 8 grands worth I dont think. They should be ashamed taking advantage of old people!

Review: Initially, I contracted Gryphon Roofing to provide new roofing paper replacement under tile roof and to replace roofs for the flat roof portions of the house. This was in July 2013. Work was completed August 2013, but in November 2013, the patio roof failed and after many phone calls and differing opinions on what caused the problem and how to fix it, 5 months later I went out to my back patio one day to discover that somone had plastered over the drywall without my being informed that this would be done. I have tried to call this business at least 10 times over the past 6 months to discuss this matter but no one will return my calls. Some messages were left with the office staff and on the cell phone of [redacted], one of the owners. On August 20, 2014, I arrived home at 10:35 p.m. and went outside only to discover that the roof over the patio is in even worse shape than before they "repaired" the roof that was and is under warranty from them. The poor work done by the drywaller and the evidence of water leaking through in numerous areas is quite evident. I am concerned that I spoke with office staff & was told that they would "try to find a spot on the schedule" for me just to have it looked at. Considering the length of time it took for response initially (after being told that my problem was not as important as others), the lack of response to my subsequent inquiries and phone calls and the inferior quality and lack of follow up, I have no confidence or assurance that this company will honor their warranty or repair the roof.Desired Settlement: Considering the additional damage this has caused to my roof, I expect the entire roofing surface over the back patio be removed and replaced as well as the drywall and perhaps some wood as recommended by my insurance company.

Response:

We have been to the [redacted] residence several times to address her patio leak and the drywall beneath it. We performed a repair under warranty several months ago and even returned to repair the drywall which we don't normally do. Apparently there is a new leak that we will address under warranty assuming it is coming from our work area. We generally can do this very promptly. However, she called in 2 days ago and filed her complaint 36 hours later. Because the leak is outside the home, we told her it was less of a priority than other customers with leaks inside their homes. We will be out to address this leak in the next day or two and will, as always, take care of our past customers.

thanks,

[redacted], President Gryphon Roofing.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have not heard from this business at all since I called them. They never return my calls. When I called the office, the young lady on the phone said, "We will try to put you on the schedule" but I have received no response since then. The drywall repair was less than adequate, and considering the repair had been done improperly, yes, they are obligated to not only repair the drywall but to replace certain parts. If they had ever bothered to contact me, they would know this. I expect this business to treat me like a valued customer and honor their work and warranty. NO roof should leak twice since it has been redone. I should not have ANY issues with my roof at this time. If Gryphon Roofing intends to truly do what they claim in their response, then they need to communicate with me and not blow me off as they have done since March. Also, they are not permitted on my premises without my permission or the presence of myself or my appointed representative.

Response:

We have tried contacting the customer 4 times since her last complaint. My supervisor, [redacted], called and left messages at [redacted] on 8/22 and 8/25 with no call back. My scheduling coordinator, [redacted], has also called twice in the first week of September and didn't get a call back. This is the phone number we have on file and have communicated through before. If the customer wasn't so insistent on being present when someone looked at her patio roof, then we simply would have shown up and taken care of it long ago. But, because she is adamant that she be there, we haven't dared go unless she returns our phone calls. We would be delighted to look at the patio roof again, but we need some response.

We suspect that because there is a balance still due on her account from last year, that she is purposely delaying responding to prolong the payment process. We need to get this resolved so we can collect final payment and so the customer can finally have a functioning patio roof. The last time we were on site, the patio roof appeared to be in perfect condition and we had repaired the drywall for her. We thought that would be the end of it. But if there is a persistent leak, we need to be allowed access on site to determine what the cause is and address it.

[redacted] personal cell phone is [redacted]'s direct line at the office is [redacted]. Please call and set up an appointment with either of them as soon as possible or allow us access without you being there so we can at least look at it.

Thank you, [redacted]

Had a great experience with Gryphon they even showed up earlier than expected in the week they were quick, thorough ,and polite

I called Gryphon Roofing to come and inspect my roof after purchasing a new home. The estimator came out and quickly diagnosed some future leak issues. The estimate fit my budget for repairs. The work was done well and I recommend this company to all my neighbors. Thanks Gryphon Team!!

Gryphon Roofing gave us an estimate and did exactly what was needed.Very professional, knowledgeble effecient

The team at Gryphon roofing did an excellent job. They were punctual and professional.

Gryphon Roofing repaired an issue we had with some rotting wood as well as installing a 'cricket' on our roof, our representative showed up on time as stated, inspected the roof, explained fully the solution to our issue, how and when it would be done and the length of time it would take. The repair crew showed up when promised, did a very professional job, including clean-up, and finished as promised. All in all, a great experience, I would recommend this company to anyone looking for roof work.

Read EVERY line of your contract; however, that might not even work if you don't know the right question to ask. I didn't and am suffering the consequences. To make matters worse, I wanted Gryphon to do our roofing and chose them over the contractor our neighbors used even though it would cost me $600. more with Gryphon.

If you could drive up our street comparing roofs, you would probably point at ours and wonder what in the world had happened. It looks incomplete and messy.

The question I didn't know to ask was whether or not they would paint the bird blocks to match the color of the house. The answer is, they don't.

I have talked to every one at the company who would speak to me or return my calls, offering to buy the paint if they would paint the bird blocks, which aren't all even the same color, and paint the blobs of cement they put on the stucco. After waiting for two weeks because the family was on vacation, I got the final answer today from Brook which amounted to his being sorry, very, very sorry, but suck it up....my words, he was more polite but I got the message. Never did hear back from John, who was going to talk to the owners and get back to me.

I am so disappointed with this $7,925. result.
