Review: My Husband and I sent a dry cow down to Headwaters to be sold beacause she was not carrying a calf. She was a 3Yr-Old healthy cow about 1300#'s. This was December 9,2012 The sale was held December 10, 2012. They ended up knocking her down in the back pens while she was in their care. I called them for my check and they said our cow never made it through the sale ring I questioned them and [redacted] told me she would put it through to insurance and I have not heard or recieved payment on my cow. Because my Brother-in-law works for them he said she laid there for 2weeks before she ended up dying. This has been going on almost 6 months and we have not been compensated for our cow.Thanks[redacted]Desired Settlement: We would like to be payed in the full amount owed which would be the cows weight times what the market value was on December 10,2012 I pulled the report from that day and the value of a 1300# cow was about $72.75/Cwt. The total would be about $945.75. I believe this to be a fair price for as long as we have had to wait and the hassle that we have been put through.

I am responding to complaint id 9520597. My name is [redacted] and I am the office manager here at Headwaters Livestock. We received [redacted] and [redacted] cow on December 9th 2012. When I first was contacted by [redacted] she asked if we can submit insurance claims for livestock that are actually injured in the premises of Headwaters Livestock, I responded that I would get her insurance claim submitted. When I went through her information on her livestock it actually did not qualify under our insurance policy to be submitted. In our insurance claim it is stated that we have to certify that the animals submitted are in good condition when received here at Headwaters Livestock. When I got a statement from our yard foreman [redacted] who took the cow in he stated "The cow walked off the trailer and was not in good shape. When walking to Its pen it fell down two times, when the sale came she was down and pen and could not get up to even walk through the ring/7 During this time [redacted]'s husband was currently working for us and stated that he and his wife [redacted] previously before bringing this cow in ran her around trying to get her and ended up roping her and choked her out and drug her to their pen at home to load her and bring her in. So therefore this cow was injured well before coming into the yards and is these injuries are not because of Headwaters Livestock Auction and do not qualify to be compensated for.
