Unauthorized Charges
HFD had no authorization to debit $1363 from my personal checking account and it's been almost 10 days and I don't have my funds returned. I'm going to form a class action lawsuit if my funds are not returned.

HFD are thieves...
This is actually a no star rating, not 1. I never signed the contract. Joel from Smile Direct forged my signature. I never authorized HFD to debit my bankcard. Now I am unable to pay my phone bill or do any holiday shopping for my kids. On 12/11/2020, 3 unauthorized withdrawals were made from my checking account. 2 for $20(late fees) and 1 for 84.42. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SMILE DIRECT OR HFD. I wish that I knew of their horrible, deceptive business practices, before getting aligners for my daughter.

Sienna A. was fantastic to deal with. Very professional and great service!!!
Highly recommended!!!

Costumer service was great. Sienna was friendly and much help.

Sienna was very helpful with my call and very understanding. I asked for an extension on my payment since I wont be able to make it this week. And she did that for me which was very helpful and im very thankful for.

Love how Sienna is helping me with my problems. She is so nice and professional. Which every business has someone like this.

Greetings, I'm very grateful for the help I have received from Francisco P who helped me resolve my situation and he was very attentive at all times. People like Francisco P make a difference in customer services. Thank you for the help and blessings

Francisco was very helpful resolving my issue. He took his time and explained all my options to me. I'm always very happy with the service.

I spoke with Francisco and he was a wonderful customer service representative! He helped me make my payment and it was so easy. Thank you!

Francisco was very helpful! He was very professional and nice. I was having a bit of trouble with my payments but he definitely helped me out.

Where to even begin with this company? Day 1, a year ago now, I go in for my consultation. At this consultation I'm required to give my credit card info just in case I decide to join SmileDirectClub. It's not exactly cheap and the company doesn't have the greatest reputation so I spent a few days contemplating whether I want to go forward. For some reason though SmileDirectClub's decided for me, and charged my card a down payment of $700. That should have been the red flag to tell me to walk away, but at that point I was pretty much already deciding to do it so I let it slide after calling to complain about the huge mistake they made. During that phone call I got verbal confirmation that my larger than normal down payment would mean my monthly payments would be less than the advertised $80/month.
A month later, my first payment comes out. Payment is $134.98. So I call Healthcare Finance Direct which is SmileDirectClub's financing company, explain my situation, and that my payments should be much less. The representative I spoke to apologized, and said I'm absolutely right. She promised to fix it, and said my payments from here on out will be $66 or so each month. Second month, another payment of $134.98 comes out, so I call again. These phone calls all took around an hour or more, mostly spent on hold and eventually took me four months to actually get resolved. On the fourth month, the unlucky representative I got said to me "you've been paying this amount for four months, why are you just now trying to fix it?" So four months worth of fighting and not a single thing was noted in my account, not a single think fixed. To say I was absolutely infuriated would be a large understatement! This gentleman finally got me in contact with a manager who would actually do something for me! The manager "couldn't" get me the $66 payments I was previously promised, but she did promise me to stop my payments, and that she would manually input them for $84. Still more than the advertised $80, still made absolutely no sense, but it was the first little budge I had gotten in four months so I let it go. Stupid me (again.)
The fifth month rolls around, which means the end of my treatment. At this point, I was totally unhappy with my results. Teeth were still crooked, my bite was still off, there was so much work that still needed to be done. I called SmileDirectClub again to find out where we go from here. Turns out their return policy is only valid the first 30 days of treatment. So for a 5 month plan, I only get the first month to decide if I think I'll be happy at the end. Makes sense, right? They alternatively offer me to go forward with refinements. These refinements run another $200 or so a month for however many extra months I need, they say they usually start with two. By now I was so turned off by the entire experience that I didn't exactly want to give them more money. So instead I went to my orthodontist to see what he thought. He did a full exam, and showed me in my x-rays how inflamed my gums were from this too-quick treatment. He also showed me how much worse my bite had become since starting SmileDirectClub. Needless to say he strongly advised me to discontinue treatment immediately. It only took 3 days without aligners for my teeth to move back to where they were 5 months prior! My orthodontist says that was to be expected after moving my teeth so much in such a short period of time. Again, I called SmileDirectClub to express my concerns, and all they could do was offer to take more of my money for refinements. They absolutely refused a refund of any sort.
So a month after that my bank card that Healthcare Finance Direct had on file expired, and I admittedly did the immature thing and simply didn't update my information. I instead told them multiple times to send me to collections and that I would be happy to settle my debt with a collection agency. I didn't and still don't feel that I should owe them another cent. Now 6 months later, they have illegally updated my card information in my account. I'm guessing they just tried different dates until something worked! They charged four payments to my account, the first for $25 (most likely to test if it would work) and three more for $134.98 each. So, I called again! After over an hour I finally got them to agree to refund all four payments to my bank card, and charge a total of $530 (my total remaining balance to Healthcare Finance Direct) to a credit card. This was last Friday, so I didn't expect the refund to show up until Monday at the earliest. It is now Wednesday, and still no refund, so I called again. The woman I spoke to today just told me that my refund is processing yes, but not to my bank card! The refund is processing to my credit card. The card I just gave them! She also told me "that department goes home at 2pm" so she would have to call me back tomorrow. Well unfortunately I like most people work a 9-5! She of course "couldn't help me."
I have been dealing with this company for over a year now, and in that year they have not gotten a single thing right. SmileDirectClub and their "financial company" Healthcare Finance Direct are the biggest scam I have ever seen. Buyers beware!!

Smile direct sent my account to collections and I was left with my teeth all screwed up! I informed them early on I wasn't happy at all.

Worst customer service. Each rep has different information so you never know what is going on. Have had to pay late fees because my card got canceled for fraud even when I call them on the due date to use a different card. Would never recommend Healthcare Finance Direct or Smile Direct. Still haven’t received everything I’ve paid for and the ones I did get them were too long and cut into my daughter’s gums so she couldn’t wear them.

Customer Response • Jul 06, 2020

I also received phone calls, texts and emails stating my account was not paid after having My autopay posted. I would call and be told to just ignore this harassment. It went on for months!!

If I could rate this less than 0 stars, I would. I am not happy at all with my experience here. I have been paying this company back for over a year and every month there is a new problem. For starters, my account says I'm up to date every day until my new payment is due. My payment is due on the sixth of every month. If I check on the fifth to make my payment, it says my account is current and I owe 0. The next MORNING on the day that the payment is due (every month) I get an email saying that I missed my payment and that I am subject to a late fee. The day that it is due!! So then I pay the late fees to keep my account current even though I pay my payments on the day that they are due.
Recently I moved to Arizona and didn't have a job, so I had to make my payment way late. After that, every time I would try to make my payment online, the website would say, "Oops! Looks like something went wrong on our end. We have been notified and will get back with you." So for two months in a row, I would be trying to make my payment and it wouldn't go through. I would get hit with late fees. I'd try reaching out and no one would answer. FINALLY I sent a passive aggressive email to let them know what was going on, and then they answer me. At some point, they set me up for automatic recurring payments THAT I NEVER AUTHORIZED.
As if this isn't enough, there's more!! I lost my job due to COVID-19 and I have been desperately hunting for a new one. I got my emergency pay from my job and it was $76. That was all I had to live off of until I could find a job. Healthcare Finance Direct tries pulling $80 out of my bank account without my permission. Of course it fails because I have less than 80 in my account. I start getting harassed THAT DAY, the day the payment is due, that I missed the payment. I get on the website and chat with a customer service representative and they say, "We can move this payment to the end of the loan period. But we can only move this one payment." I agree and then the representative asks me if I would like for him to send a transcript of our conversation to my email for records. I say yes, and I never received it. The next day, Healthcare Finance Direct pulled $25 out of my bank account WITHOUT MY PERMISSION because it was a "late fee" for the missed payment the day before. The payment that I reached out to them about. The payment that they moved to the end of the loan period. And they still penalized me for it. So I had $50 to live off of since they took a nice portion of my emergency pay, due to being penalized for a payment that was moved for me. And even though they moved that payment to the end of the loan period, I am getting harassed daily with emails, texts and calls saying that I missed my payment and I am subject to a late fee and my account is overdue. This is a disaster and a mess and it has been going on this WHOLE time I have been paying! I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Literally every month on the sixth, I think, "My HFD payment is due today. Can't wait to see what I'm about to get harassed for now!" Terrible.

I cancelled services with them as of March 17, 2020. Originally, I was reassured that I would be able to cancel services smoothly. At the cancellation process, I received notice from Smile Direct Club Account Manager Regina L. that I would be charged for each aligner used while on the Smile Direct Plan. This was not on the contract I signed, however, the total she alleged was 900 dollars. First, the Smile Direct plan was not for me. My upper teeth were coming out of my gums. Had I stayed in the plan, I would have lost my top teeth. I decided to follow through with my dentist and get traditional braces to fix the issue. However, if a customer is cancelling a service, why would they require one to pay an additional amount of money. Most other place - hotels, restaurants, etc - value the customer's opinion and they go through a cancellation process and a refund process. Trying to get a refund from this company and Smile Direct Club is impossible. They also leave you frustrated to the point that you no longer feel like contacting them. instead, you post on the Revdex.com and other governing agencies because they do not care about the customer at all. I let them know my concerns and they did not follow through. I do not understand how they still function as a business.

I went to a free consultation and they needed a card on file and then two weeks later they charged my card $250 I am mediately called them and said I it bounced back so I never received a package from them and I immediately called them and said I would like a refund you guys pulled this money from me and they bounced and that you guys never sent me a package and I months later receive a debt collector check saying that I owe them $1700 this is the worst company ever and it’s a fraud company.

I signed up for an account with Smile Direct in the summer of 2019. I got my aligners and wore them for a few weeks. At first I was thinking they didn’t fit, they were cutting into my gums, etc. Finally after 4 weeks I called because they just did not fit and were hurting me more then helping me. They told me there was nothing they could do. I told them I was canceling my card they were charging then. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. They charged my account THREE times in one day. I called them to dispute this and asked why they would charge three times. They explained because my account was past due so they would try to collect the past due amount. I did not authorize this. I hung up the phone with healthcare finance direct and called my bank and canceled my debit card and ordered a new one. Never updated it with them. Today, I get TWO charges from them. I not once updated my debit card information with them but they are somehow charging my NEW debit card?!?! I did not authorize this and will be filing a dispute with my bank.

okay so here goes a very long review. here's a back story, so Tuesday night (12-31) I went to Walmart to buy food, needless to say, my card got declined I check my bank acc and they took out two payments of 124.85. (1-1) I left many emails and reviews and even tried reaching out over facebook messenger to find out why they took an extra payment from me, finally, after about 7 hrs of waiting a lady named Liz contacts me and tell me she found that it was a glitch and that id get my refund and that another person would be reaching out to me, well as you can guess nobody did nor did I get a refund. So today (1-2) I called the company again and spoke to another lady who more or less said I lied about talking to someone and that the only way they'd consider refunding my money is if I sent all screenshot proof which I did and the lady continued to say that I owed them money and that's why they took out 3, yes 3 payments this month. I even gave the transaction number to the lady and all she kept saying was "okay, you still owed for October and that's why we charged you" even after I proved that I didn't owe anything. the lady I spoke to was very rude and not helpful. this company also takes out charges without notification or justification. This is by far the WORST company I've ever dealt with and I strongly advise people to never use this company as they are thieves and don't care about any of their customers. If I could give this company a negative rating I definitely would as this is by far the worst customer experience I've ever had

Horrible, just charged my account 4 different amounts in one day! I’ve never signed up for recurring charges seeking help to get my money back.

Imagine how NOT surprised I was to find that this company has an F rating with the Revdex.com. I only wished I'd known that 1 year ago. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had. although my credit card information is accurate on *** site, I have received recorded voicemails from HFD saying I can manage my account by going on the smiledirect site. This VM does not say there is a problem, and again, my billing info is correct.
Today, I received an overdue notice for $150. I went to the HFD website noted on this statement, and despite numerous attempts, the error prompt was the same: we are unable to establish an account for you, as only people who have accounts with us can create an online account. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This company has the potential of harming my impeccable credit rating, and I can't find out why.
In addition, I have found Smile Direct itself to be questionable. They have not sent the right amount of retainers, they say, "pay for these new ones today, and in the future, you can call us and we will send you a free one..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - go to your dentist and work with a real clinic!
