Based on the information I provided ***, Heartland Home Mortgage was one of the recommended matches While I received calls from many Mortgage companies, most were call centers Alex O*** called me from Heartland who was a Mortgage Loan officer who would handle my request directly He quoted me a great rate that ended up being my final rate At one point, closing costs were exceeding what he originally quoted, and they gave me a credit toward closing costs reflective of the original quote An Appraiser was sent out quickly, and since this was a second home, the entire closing was done remotely at our primary residence so it was convenient

This was my experience with Heartland Home Mortgage, Mine was a refinance I had to combine a 1st and 2nd mortgage into one and also do a quit claim deed due to a divorce. His communication was great through the whole process, he was able to delivery everything he said he could. I was able to handle all the communications on line or on the phone never had to drive any where etc. My closing was done right at my house at a time that worked best for me. I explained my situation regarding refinancing my existing mortgage and the trouble I was running into refinancing with a competitor. I was told that the current appraisal, I obtained from the other mortgage company would be excepted and a likely closing date in late June. Alex responded to my phone calls and emails promptly. He was profession with a friendly manner. He was true to his word and my mortgage was successfully refinanced in late June. He came to me with ideas of how to make the equity in my homework for me and prepared a couple of different options for me to work with. All in all the experience was positive and efficient. I have had a number of mortgages over the past 30 years and my experience with Heartland Home Mortgage and Jeff was certainly one of the best. The whole process was easy and took less than 30 days. The terms were not changed on me at the last minute and when Jeff gave me my initial savings on my payment it turned out to be very accurate. I highly recommend Heartland.

I would not recommend Heartland Home Mortgage to anyone. The loan officer assigned to us is simply looking for a quick buck and is not interested in doing any work to help you complete your mortgage. We originally went with him because he said he preferred the ability to work face-to-face with individuals. When we received our appraisal back there were numerous mistakes on it and we asked him to look into it. He simply said it looked good, it was out of his control, and said there was nothing he could do. We asked him to come out to our house to discuss the issues we had with the appraisal and he refused. He said he wasn't getting paid until our loan closed and made it clear he would invest no additional time into it. We had to write a letter to the bank/appraisal company, look for new comparables, and do all the work that he should have been doing as our loan officer. We would have been better off working directly with the bank or another mortgage company. We detailed what happened to Heartland Mortgage and it was clear that they are a small company of good friends and were not interested in trying to resolve anything with us. We ended up canceling the application and not proceeding with a refinance because of this experience.
