I am absolutely stunned by the transformation of my early 1970 vintage shower stall to one worthy of being in ***. I am equally stunned by Brandon's knowledge and skills. He worked like an artist. We were totally amazed by how he and Hugo worked marvelously together - like a well-rehearsed symphony orchestra. They had a great simpatico relationship. They both worked extremely hard and put in many hours, arriving on time despite a major accident on I-70. They worked well beyond the standard 8 hour day to ensure my complex new shower conversion was completed accurately and beautifully. The workmanship was top notch. They went way above and beyond what I think a typical shower install would have been. The final results exceeded my expectations 100-fold. I can't stop staring at the results. All I can say is WOW! I was most impressed by the positive attitude of these workers and their commitment to not only do a great job, despite the extremely long work day, but to take special effort to clean up the work site and remove all debris. They both obviously take pride in working for this fine company and I am pleased to highly recommend them.

We had a master bath major remodeling. Herl's provided outstanding service and helped tremendously in designing the bath to fit our requirements with a walk-in-bath and extended shower space.

All workers were professional in the specific work each accomplished and listened to what we wanted accomplished.

Sales rep helped tremendously in the design and selection of materials.

Chris H did a great job with our install. He cleared the old and prepped the space, did the install and finished the job in less than a day. We were impressed with his dedication, hard work and nice and pleasant demeanor; you should be proud to have him as an employee. And, we love the new bath/shower!

Starting with the sweet young lady who took my 1st phone call to Carl the rep who came to our home, to Brandon and Hugo the actual installers the entire process was seamless. Carl fully explained all aspect of the conversion of an old jetted tub into a lovely and safe walk in shower. Gave us our choice of materials and finish. All at a fair affordable price.
No high pressure, no exorbitant claims, or used car salesmen pitches. Just facts up front to meet our needs in a small '70s master bath. He explained the the process timeline from ordering to placing materials orders to establishing on installation date and time. Also what to expect the day of instillation. THE ENTIRE PROCESS occurred just as stated.
As for instillation Brandon and Hugo worked feverishly and constantly, for over 12 hours at our convenience, to complete the job that day.
We are extremely pleased and happy with our new walk-in shower and Herl's .

Dear Ms H,
You can stand proud of your company, your family and more importantly your employees. You all are the perfect example of American enterprise, quality and service. I prefer the locally owned providers to the so called " big Box" national corporate ones.
God bless you all and continued success.

Herl's Just completed our tub to shower conversion. The entire process from start to finish was complete and professional. Starting with Jeff F who arrived on time, took all the measurements and gave a full explanation of available options. He also completed an estimate and explained financing options prior to leaving our home. The installer, Chris Horn and his new helper Deondre arrived as scheduled. They were very friendly, courteous and professional. They were respectful of our home. Floors were covered and they cleaned up both during and at the end of job. They reviewed the job plan prior to starting and completed the job as promised. It looks great and is completely functional for our needs.
Thank you,
Jim M.

Herl's installer Matt R did a great job. He was very knowledgeable about the problem with our damaged acrylic bathtub and applied the best solution at a reasonable price. Matt was on time and completed the job as scheduled.

As a business owner myself I know that things don't always run smoothly. All I ask is transparency and communication. That is exactly what you get with this company. Highly recommend!

Thank you for your comments, Mr. Anglis. Having happy, satisfied clients is what we strive for.

Lack of Master Plumber Capability
I ordered a new bath tub and tile wall from Herls which still needs to be installed, however the focal point of my complaint is that the Herls salesman that potential plumbing issues would and could be handled by the technician who would be installing my tub and tile wall, long story short is that once my old tub was removed the technician relayed that he would not be able to finish the project in one day which was promised at the point of sale because of my house's vent plumbing line was in the way of where the new tub needed to be laid down. I ended up having to hire a separate master plumber who handled the moving of the vent plumbing line. Herls did not compensate in any manner for the hiring of this separate plumber, My expectations were that Herl's would have plumbers who could handle something along these lines as this seems to be directly related to the service I had already purchased from them.

Desired Outcome

Compensation of work that had to be completed by separate master plumber.

Herl's Bath & Home Solutions Response • Apr 17, 2019

On April 12, Brandon, our technician, arrived at the client's home and proceeded to demo the area on the second floor where a new tub and walls were to be installed. At that point, it was discovered that there was a 3" toilet stack which would have to be relocated before the installation could be completed. Mr. H had left the house so Brandon contacted him, explained the situation and said that we would need to implement a change order for us to take care of the problem. Mr. H requested that a master plumber be called in lieu of Herl's doing the work. Brandon contacted a master plumber and remained at the site until he arrived and then explained what needed to be done so we could complete the job. Mr. H was leaving for 3 weeks on Monday, April 15. So there would be no further inconvenience, Brandon returned on Sunday, April 14, and completed the work. Please note, our terms and conditions clearly state: "Quote does not cover cost for repairs required due to conditions not visible before job is begun." The problem only became apparent after the area was demo'd.

They were fantastic to deal with. I had an issue with a leak from a new toilet that was installed. Since it was an active leak, I called Service Today and they came out and fixed the leak. But to say I was shocked at the bill was an understatement. I called Herl's and spoke with Brian R, he offered to call Service Today and speak with them in regards to the charges. He was able to get my bill reduced by more than half. They are a very professional company and will help you in any way they can. I would recommend them without a second thought.

Submission of completion paperwork to company financing the work (***) before project was complete and failure to complete project.
We contracted with Herl's to remodel our bathroom. The project included repair of the ceiling in the bathroom below. Herl's began work on December 20, 2018. The project took much longer than expected and there was still work to be done when we left the country on February 1, 2019. I informed Michelle K that we would be out of the country until the 7th and out of town until the 10th and would not have cell phone service while we were out of the country. At this point the project was near completion, but a new backsplash needed to be ordered and installed and the final painting (doors, trim, and touch-up of the walls from installation damage). On the 7th when we returned to the United States, I received a voice mail message informing me that Herl's had submitted the completing paperwork and that if I did not call immediately our loan would be funded the next day. I believe this message was left on the 6th. I called the loan company as soon as I got the message, and explained that we had been out of the country and had no way of knowing if the project was complete and could not possibly have approved it. I was told that it was too late for them to do anything as the loan had already funded. I was also told that if there were any problems I could use their complaint process. We returned home to find that the painting was not complete. I immediately called Herl's and they refused to send someone to do the work. So, I did it myself. Then I tried to use the new shower. There was no water. I called Herl's and got the complaint department from Service Finance involved. Herl's sent a tech, who said it was one problem, but he didn't have the parts to fix it. The next day a different tech came and said it was a different problem. He came back the next day and said that he would have to access the plumbing by cutting a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom below. The next day he came back with another tech and after cutting two holes and rerouting the plumbing, the shower had water. They said someone else would come to patch the ceiling. Three days later a painter came and patched the ceiling and said someone would be back to sand and paint. I called Herl's to confirm and they didn't return my calls. I waited two days and called again. No one responded to me. I asked Service Finance to get involved. They left messages as well. I am now working on the finish work on the ceiling and the paint on the walls that was damaged by the patch job.

Desired Outcome

I would like Herl's to refund the labor and materials costs for all painting required by the contract as I had to do the painting myself. I would also like them to reimburse me for my time (approx. 12 hours) in completing this project myself at my usual hourly rate of $84/hour or $1008.

Herl's Bath & Home Solutions Response • Mar 07, 2019

The amount of time to transform the bath including lead times for custom glass and holidays (Christmas and New Years) was within normal timelines.

On January 31st the bathroom was painted as well the downstairs bath ceiling per contract.

Countertops and backsplashes were completed on Feb 5th.

After the backsplash was installed on the 5th Herls let the finance company know the job was complete.

Upon the customer returning home on the 7th had concerns that the back of their doors in the bath were not painted. Herls at NO point would deny service and refuse our workers to complete or touch up problematic areas.

After the paint portion was rectified the customer used there shower and had very little water at all coming from the head of the shower. This was difficult to remedy as our standard operating procedures is to test water flow prior to trimming out the shower. The customer was correct in having a water issue.

When Herls was notified of the issue we sent a technician within a few hours on thursday. The technician after several hours could not figure out the issue and Herls sent a different technician to the job on Friday. After much discussion Friday between the technician and the production manager, a plan was devised for additional work Saturday. The water issue was discovered as result of a capped diverter that Herls did earlier in the project. Herls returned on Sunday and had to remove a section of the ceiling below to reroute the hot water line and restore water volume to the shower. The ceiling was patched on Sunday. Herls returned to mud and skim coat the one sheet of rock on Thursday. Herls painter returned to the home on Monday to complete the paint on the patch but was told his services were not needed.

Herls would NEVER deny a customer services for any reason if they were not fully satisfied. At no point in time did Herls ever ask the customer to paint the door or ceiling patch, therefore no money will be comped for the customer painting. Painting the doors and ceiling patch would have taken a painter 2 hours not 12.

Herls did create an issue by capping the water line causing an inconvenience to the customer. This inconvenience should be compensated to the customer. Herls is willing to in good faith split the desired resolution with the customer $504.00.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Our installer , Chad C, arrived exactly when scheduled, explained the work to be performed, began work immediatly and finished in one day. Chad was friendly and did a very professional job. The finished walk in shower is really beautiful and we are very pleased with the entire job . Thanks Chad. And Herls

One star is too much...I cannot honestly recommend this company for a variety of reasons. My husband and I have been completely unsatisfied since the date we signed the contract on August 16, 2018, with the salesman "Jeff".
We had a fibreglass shower insert installed when our home was built 5 years ago. We told Jeff we wanted the shower insert removed and acrylic walls and a lower step-in drain pan installed in place of what was there.
The first issue was the limited samples Jeff had brought to show us. Items he did not have we were shown a small picture on his tablet. One option was clear glass or rain glass for which we again saw a small picture. We choose the wall design and told Jeff we wanted the drain moved from the center to the right side, Stipulated on the contract as such. We asked Jeff what the turn around time was because of the upcoming holidays. Jeff took many pictures and measurements of the shower space. Informed us the job would be completed in one day after a 2-3 week turnaround for the wall panels. We put a $3000 deposit and financed the rest with a company by the name of ***. (Another finance company to stay away from. Paying interest charges on a $0 balance + a $60 card activation fee. The interest of 9.9% was introductory for 3 months, but we were not told of what the interest was going up to. We took a home improvement loan from our bank to pay the balance ).
(We had used *** on a similar job in our former home and why we did not use them again we are kicking ourselves now).Within the 72 hour window, we decided to visit Herl's showroom to see the actual wall samples and the rain glass option. The wall design was changed because the sample picture shown to us looked very different from the actual piece. We also decided to change the glass door option from a sliding double door to a pivot door.
We received a call from Herl's that our shower was ready to be installed. Demolition was to be performed on a Thursday with the install the following day. I get a telephone call from "Joe" who tells me they cannot do the installation until the following day (Saturday). We agree until the installer from Herl's comes with a center drain pan. I contact Joe of the wrong piece and he informs us we need to wait until the correct one arrives once ordered. For over 1 week we stare at a removed shower insert only to see bare wood studs and insulation. Finally, we speak again with Joe who offers us a $350 discount that the correct drain pan and walls were in and ready to be installed. Yea!
Joe tells us we should have hired a professional plumber to redirect the drain pipes because when the hole was cut in the floor for the right-sided drain there was no connection. (Aren't they the contractors we hired)? Okay, the shower walls are installed, but no glass is ordered. We are told by Brandon the glass is ordered after the shower install for correct measurement. This would take 2-3 weeks, so a temporary tension shower rod was put up. Once again may I mention this job was supposed to be completed in 1 day. After 1 month we get a call the glass door is in and ready for installation and arrange for a date. The installer (different from Brandon) tells us "this is our lucky day. The glass door and walls we received are made for a tile shower and the glass for an acrylic shower is much thinner". The Install is complete, but now the shower leaks on both sides of the door. Actual puddles accumulate outside the shower even if the shower head is aimed toward the opposite wall. We have had "professionals" come and try to fix the issue all to no success. On this 4 month and 16th day of the contract signing we are still awaiting completion of the job.

Herl's Bath & Home Solutions Response • Jan 04, 2019

Mrs. Byrnes, I am so sorry that you had an such upsetting experience during our installation of your new shower. The incorrect pan being ordered was a result of miscommunication on our part. When you made the change on the style of the shower door, we should have informed you that the new configuration had to be templated after the shower was installed before it could be ordered, resulting in a 2-3 week delay in completing your job. I'm sorry that you weren't given this information. Our vendor shipped the incorrect glass thickness, which we had no control over. As stated in our conversation Wednesday, January 2, the new shower door is expected to arrive Friday, January 4 (I just checked, and the door is in our warehouse.) Installation of the new door is scheduled for Monday morning, January 7. Since we install many tub to shower conversions which can require a drain relocation, this is something we do on a routine basis. Perhaps you misunderstood Joe's comment about redirecting the drain? Lastly, you agreed that a $1000 reduction in the cost of the job will in some level offset your frustrations. A $350 credit was issued as a credit against your payment, and the technician will take a check to you on Monday in the amount of $650. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you have experienced.

Wasted our time: We spent 1.5 hours listening to the Herl's salesman talk about how great their product, company and ownership was, but he never sent us the quote, even after we called him asking for it 2 weeks later. We looked at 3 other vendors and they were the one we were most interested in. I guess it worked out for the best. Who wants to sign up with a company who does not want you busines.

Today was a milestone event for me: Converting my Master Bath into a walk-in shower so I can stay in my home and "age in place" for a long time. Brandon B and his assistant, Justin
W***, arrived at my home at 8 a.m. sharp after a 4-hour drive from Salisbury, MD to Warrenton, VA. Immediately, they were alert and ready to go even after such a long drive, much of it through heavy Washington beltway traffic. Immediately, they went right to work prepping my home from the entry door to the master bathroom, putting down drop clothes to insure nothing was soiled or damaged in the process of taking out the old and putting in an absolutely beautiful walk-in shower. I still can't believe the transformation. Brandon went over my order before he started the process to be sure he had everything correct on my order and I was satisfied with the plan. He surveyed the old bath area and we had conversation about history of the bathroom and what to expect as the process went on. He answered my many questions very graciously and to my complete understanding. He had no problem with my peaking in on the process and progress and my repeated questions. Always answered graciously and completely. I can't wait to start using this beautiful new shower which has to be a "little bit of heaven on earth." I highly recommend Herl's and these two young men who did an outstanding job quickly, neatly, very professionally and when they left everything was picked up and clean. These installers are an asset to the Herl's organization. They deserve a 5 star rating!

October 18, 2018 we had a tub to shower conversion done. Chad C was the installer.
He arrived as scheduled and reviewed the contract and installation specifications. He was very professional and very courteous. He worked the entire time he was here and explained the work as he went along. From removing the old tub and walls to installing the new walls and pan, he kept things neat and bagged and removed the trash, as he went along. The man works like a robot. He left the house clean, as when he arrived. We are very happy with the installation and the excellent job Chad performed. Thank you Chad and Herls for a job well done. Chad you are definitely an asset to the Herls Team.

Numerous no shows for scheduled service. No response to phone calls. 205 days since contract signing and shower still leaks.
signed contract on 2/1/18 scheduled date to begin shower instillation was changed, new date was scheduled but had to call the Friday before to see what time they were coming due to the conversation I'm sure we weren't on the schedule. Were given dates but they were changed without telling us. Has to wait long period between work dates. Only twice were my numerous phone calls returned. Sent a letter to them and a copy to you of the full timeline of the project. Overpriced to begin with and service was terrible. Scheduling department is the worst I have ever worked with. They certainly should not be bragging about their Revdex.com rating since they have such terrible service.

Desired Outcome

Response form the company to apologize for the many time we were inconvenienced and our phone calls were not returned. Explanation of why it took so long to do a job that we were told would take 2-3 days. A partial refund for the stress and frustration we were caused.

Herl's Bath & Home Solutions Response • Aug 10, 2018

Demo started on 5/14
Tile completed 5/25
Shower door installed on 6/18

The timeline of starting on the 5/14 and completing a custom order shower door is a reasonable and expected timeline for the scope of work.

After installation of the shower door the customer noticed a leak from the door hinge to the sill. A new gasket was ordered and installed, which seemed to help. Customer called back stating there was still some water leaking. We asked that she run the shower with nobody in the shower to make a determination of the shower floor or glass leaking. Customer agreed to run this experiment and call back with results. Upon completion of this experiment it was determined that the shower floor was good and the issue existed with the glass door. Technician was sent back and created a silicone dam at the bottom of the glass hinge. Customer took multiple showers and no water has been found to be leaking. Customer is happy with the results of our last trip. The customer/business relationship has since been mended and we look forward to helping her with future projects and or concerns.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused the customer

Brandon B of Herls and his assistant installed a handicap friendly shower to replace an old-style tub. Their work was outstanding and the quality of the materials and finish was very high. But the best part is that there were a number of issues involving the installation. Brandon made me aware of these issues and where I needed a little guidance he gave it. That was very helpful and very importnant to me. I highly recommend Herls and ask for Brandon to install.

Chris did a great job of installing my new shower. He thoroughly answered all of my questions promptly and courteously.
