customer contacted us on September 2nd advising the activation key doesn't work. We referred him to AVS Video's technical support department. All our activation keys come from AVS and they are equipped to help the customer resolve the issue and get his product
registered. Customer sent a second email requesting to cancel his purchase. Per our return policy, we can only refund downloadable software if tech support has deemed the product to be defective.I have opened a ticket for the customer with AVS to verify if he was given a defective keycode. It will take to hours to hear a response

Records show customer was emailed a license key on July 3, 2015. On July 5, customer sent an email to Herman Street requesting the license key to register his software. He received an email response containing the necessary information. Please let
me know if customer would still like to cancel as I am getting conflicting information from the customer

customer emailed us on 10/and advised he wanted to cancel his purchase that he already had another anti-virus that won't expire until Jul/2017. We advised customer we would be happy to exchange him for another software, but we can only issue refunds if the software is defective,
and the customer has worked with support. Hello ***,I apologize you are unhappy with your new purchase. Per our return policy we can only issue refunds if the software is defective and you have made a good faith effort to work with technical support. Reason being, we are unable to get the download back, and the software

I am rejecting this response because: The Herman Street web site offers 24 hour availability for immediate download  but does not offer technical support for 24 hours.  The web site does not function in the same standard that other competitive web sites function.  When making a purchase of software, the Herman Street system merely has a button indicator for "buy now".  It is not until the purchase is finalized that you realize that you never received an option for buying software that is specific to your operating system.  Most web sites clearly indicate what operating system a given software is able to operate on prior to purchase or at least upon purchasing give you the option of which system you are using.  Herman Street does not.  I entered into a contract of sale with this company and they sold me a product that was "defective" because it was not operable across platforms.  Their policy to issue a refund on "defective" products requires "troubleshooting" the problem with their technical support.  Not only is it very difficult to reach the company by phone, they do not respond to emails outside of sending copies of their sales policy and offering the customer to make an additional purchase.  Obviously no amount of "troubleshooting" will make this defective product that they sold to me work.   Not only do I not have faith in the purchase process of this company's web site, I am not interested in doing business with a company that operates in the way that they do.  After making my purchase and failing to have a product that was usable, I was able to find another download online for the same type of software on a different website.  Not only did that software work seamlessly, but it was completely free of charge.  By the time this company responded to my inquiry, I was no longer in need of that particular software, and having had the experience with Herman Street, it is in my opinion that this business operates unscrupulously.  We are not talking about a significant amount of money here.  In fact, my credit card company has issued a refund to me in the full amount which is what Herman Street should have done immediately regardless of their "return policy" because their sales system online is vague and set up to steal the consumer's money in a trap that requires additional purchases in a bad faith operation.  Herman Street should be required to update their web site so that consumers are not unsuspectingly cheated out of their money.  After my experience with Herman Street, I would never make an attempt to make an additional purchase on their web site.  It would be like gambling more money and hoping that I would get something that I could use.  I'd rather play the lottery.Revdex.com of Utah, thank you for your attention to this matter and thank you for the protection that you offer to consumers.

I would be happy to offer the customer an exchange for another antivirus software. We sell another called Avira and also Comodo. the reason we can't just refund is the product is the customer's to keep even if we issue a refund, we can't get the download back.

I called Bitdefender this morning and was advised that customer called Bitdefender tech support on 9/6/15 and they sent her instructions on how to fix her computer.   It was also determined that customer didn't speak to Bitdefender originally, and had called another company. ...

 Bitdefender does not require people to pay exurbanite amounts of money, or try and charge monthly fees.

over the weekend we sold more AVS codes than anticipated and ran out of activation codes.  The customer emailed us on June 29, 2015 and we responded within 2 hours.   A refund was processed for the customer for her purchase.

this gentleman was already taken care of and a refund was processed for him yesterday since the key didn't work
