Love our Home! 2021-2022
We finished our home this month after a long build. It was worth the wait! We love our house! It is beautiful! Our project manager, Nathan, did a great job, especially contending with 2022 setbacks he could not control. This was not an easy time to build, but Nathan cared, tried his best, went to bat for us, and we gained a beautiful house and friend! Thank you Nathan and Hiline!

Horrible experience
Building with Hi-line was the biggest mistake we made! They took months longer then we were told in every stage from engineering to start up to the finished home. They were rude and unresponsive and in the end they charged us 30,000.00 more then we had agreed and signed on for. They said it was their price hike and we had to pay because we started a week later than they said. Even though that was all their fault as we were completely ready with our land and permits. And now that we are done and in our house, we have issues with our plumbing and the floor makes noise when we walk like an old house does. And now they won't come out and fix it, they always have an excuse and puts the blame on us. Save yourself a boat load of trouble, headache, and extra money and don't use them. I wish we would have used Adair or New Era.

Leaking roof
I just purchased a home built in 2012 by hiline homes. Had to go into attic to run phone lines only to discover my roof leaks in several places. I contacted hiline homes and was told they would find out who did the roof because it was probably done with shingles that were recalled and get back to me. It has been a week and I have called back leaving messages because no one answered. My roof isn't even 8 years old, someone other than myself needs to fix this.

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Their answer is not true, we have not made a date or time to resolve this matter I was contacted, they said they would be over the next day, which was not acceptable since I had prior arrangements that I had to make, So I was told I would be contacted again sometime next week That is not a date, but rather a reference to something that may or may not happen I don't want the response they made to appear as though they had actually thought it through and asked me what was an acceptable time and date to discuss the matter in this complaint Thank you.Sincerely, [redacted]

***,*** was a great person, we enjoyed working with him, we were very sorry to hear about his passing and your loss. *** home was completed in April, On 11-14-*** had called and said he had a roof leak in the unfinished garageWhen our project manager arrived, he noticed the
roof was covered with debris and moss, the valleys having several inches of debrisThe gutters were also full of leaves and needlesThe water leak was coming from the valley that had the greatest amount of debrisWe explained to *** that the leak was most likely caused due to the excessive debris and moss in those areas, which causes water to puddle in the valleySince *** was unable to clean the roof on his own and apparently no one to help him, HiLine took the opportunity to help him clean the debris off this portion of the roof, which fixed the leakAfter completing this, the importance of keeping the roof clean was emphasized and he agreed that he would likely need to hire someone to clean it for himLater he called again with a water leakHiLine again went out to find a heavy buildup of debris on the roofIt was again very apparent the water was leaking where heavy debris had accumulated around a ventThis time, knowing quite likely the roof would be covered with leaves and debris, we came prepared with a leaf blower, and took the time to blow off the entire roof for himWe again stressed the importance of keeping the roof clean, considering all the large trees around his home.Despite the leak being caused by a lack of maintenance on the home, HiLine still removed and repaired any damaged areas on the interior of the home as a courtesy to ***. Most recently when contacted by you we came back out to look at the roof which you claim had started leaking againUpon the arrival of a HiLine manager and owner, it was noticed the roof was completely clean with absolutely no debrisWe walked the roof with Jake and pointed out the excessive damage from perhaps sweeping, and pressure washing the roof* mentioned he wasn't aware of the methods *** used to have the roof cleanedAs an additional courtesy to you as the new owner, we filled out all the paper work required to apply for the manufacturer's warranty, including sending in two roof samples to the manufacturer, even though it was our opinion that the damage was done by the process used to clean the roof over the last 1/yearsHiLine has not heard back from you after this action until finding this disappointing post. Please be assured, HiLine by no means took advantage of ***, but to the contrary, we went out of our way to help him as a valued customer on multiple occasions.Sincerely, HiLine Management

[redacted],
The only thing left to complete is a transition strip. When they were installing these initially one was damaged. This is a simple thing to do and we have it scheduled for Sept. 15th, which was the first day you were available since you live out of state and have taken occupancy of the house....

Our subcontractors did not leave any liquor bottles on your property. We would like to meet with you and discuss the build time. Are you available Monday September 18th?

Hiline has since sent a roofing company out to inspect the leaks. After inspection it was determined that a full replacement of the roof will be needed due to improperly installed shingles. We are hopeful Hiline will continue on the path to fixing this issue.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I guess a more detailed letter needed to be written over this dispute with HiLine homes located in Salem Oregon.
After contacting HiLine builders about the multiple leaks discovered throughout the attic and garage, they sent out their current roofers. After examining the roof and the many leaks the roofer stated "the shingle nails were nailed in the wrong location, the wrong type of nails were used and some nails had been overdriven." I then asked what they would do to fix it and was told they would go over the nail heads with the caulking product they had on hand that day.
The following week another heavy rain came through and I discovered all but one of the leaks they attempted to patch were leaking again. I contacted HiLine again and they sent Jason the project manager. After climbing up on the roof and showing him the locations of the leaks I explained to him that I had gone back over the same nail heads with roofing tar in an attempt to stop the leaks, although it was just a temporary fix. Upon examining the roof Jason also discovered a piece of trim board the roofers laid shingles over. Jason then cut out the chunk of trim board and replaced the hole with a piece of roofing (shingle?) thinking this was the cause of the leak in the valley and said placing the roofing tar over the nail heads where the leaking was should work.
A few days later the rain started up again and so did the leaks. I contacted HiLine and once again they sent Jason out. After climbing back up on the roof for yet another examination I explained to Jason there were new leaks and an even bigger one in the valley. I told him "in an attempt to stop the leak last night I went from the peak of the roof shingle by shingle coating every nail head I could find." While up there we looked at the sealant the roofers used on the nail heads that causing leaks and discovered it was already coming off. I put more tar over the nail heads after removing the old sealant and Jason agreed this should work. Before he left from this visit I asked what was going to be done to resolve this issue. He said "it all looks fine to me and I don't understand why its leaking." This is even after showing the nails to him. I asked about the soaked attic insulation  and his response to the problem was " take a fan, direct it from below and it should dry it all out."
The next rain, the big leak in the valley and multiple ones I patched with the tar had stopped leaking for the mean time, but much to my surprise  there was two new leaks in the garage and one over the living room. I contacted HiLine and after talking with Jason and multiple run arounds I was able to finally get the number for Chris the co-owner of this HiLine. I spoke with Chris and he agreed to personally come look at the roof.
After Chris arrived we went over the leaks and he explained to me Jason had informed him all of the leaks were due to moss build up which was clearly false information. Even after explaining to Chris how I was temporarily stopping the leaks by tarring the nail heads he insisted  the problem was due to a defective batch of shingles and thought we could get them replaced through a warranty with the shingle manufacturer.
What I didn't know was that this was just a ploy leading me to think something would actually be done to fix the nearly new three year old roof. It was a good thought to try to lay the blame of the shingle company for ultimately, a wrongly installed roof just so the replacement wasn't coming out of HiLine's pocket book.
I had contacted Chris about the status of the shingles only to get an "oh, the company was supposed to be contacting you" on many occasions. In regards to you stating you have not received any contact from me, that is a false statement. I have phone records showing multiple calls and texts I have made to Chris' personal phone, which have all been ignored. The problem here is not a crack in the sheetrock or the wrong color paint. This issue gets worse with every rain we get (which is a lot here on the coast), its causing more damage to the interior of the house and needs to be taken care of.
I am aware that the roof warranty has expired through HiLine. I am also aware of a 10 year workmanship law that exists. I am hoping this won't have to be persued and you can keep good on your gentleman's handshake attitude you so proudly boasted about when I first contacted HiLine homes.
I forgot to add that we have many pictures of the leaks and would like to send them as well, but aren't sure how this process with Revdex.com complaints. Please let me know if we can add the pictures somehow.
Thanks again!Sincerely,[redacted]
