This company is by far the worst moving company I have ever had the displeasure of hiring to move me across the country. I've moved 43 times in my life and have NEVER had such an awful experience. From the beginning, it was bad. They loaded all of our stuff into a 23 ft van and rather than moving it across country like they promised they would do, instead they put it in a warehouse, divided it to two loads and shipped it with other people's stuff. They lost over 11 boxes of my expensive cookware, glassware and cookbooks as well as all my shoes. They've never recovered it. They damaged my brand new PRIDE scooters that I need for getting around to the tune of over $800 in repairs and they had the audacity to tell me these scrapes and scratches were done prior to the move. How can they say that? It was obvious that they did it because they fell off the truck at the delivery point. They never kept their promise and our shipment arrived late outside the promised window of time. Over $20,000 of furniture was damaged and they only reimbursed me $3000 and I had to fight for that. The delivery men dropped the furniture and ran. We had to call a 3rd party in to put our furniture together even thought Hilldrup took it apart at the front end. Furniture was not strapped in, so fell off the back of the truck and completely destroyed all over the street and sidewalk at the delivery point. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE HORRIBLE

We could not have been happier with this company, from the estimate to the final delivery they were on time, professional, courteous and very friendly. Always on time with every phone call, every appointment and even early for the delivery. Not a single item missing, not a single item broken. Would definitely use them again, but we are never moving again, LOL!

Our move went very smoothly. All of the men were extremely hard workers, courteous and very cautious with our items . They were very careful moving our things out of our home and into our new place. Overall we were very pleased. We would definitely use them again.

I had a great experience with this company. Roy and Neil went above and beyond. I had lots of antique furniture and they took great care of everything. I would use then again if I ever move again. Carol was also great too.

Excellent service. Fair pricing with extras, like free used wardrobe boxes. Super efficient. Professional in every way.

The Hilldrup driver and moving staff were courteous and professional throughout my long distance move. I was contacted with the status and location of the delivery. I would recommend them to anyone in the Atlanta area.

Hilldrup did a wonderful job. The representative was courteous and the movers were fantastic. Inspite of the 98 degree whether, thyme were pleasant, hard working, and committed to the job. I would recommend them to anyone and I would definitely use them again.

Review: On September 5, 2014 we contracted to use Hilldrup movers to pack and transport our furnishings and belongings from [redacted] VA to Austin TX. We chose Hilldrup based on an excellent reputation and looked forward to the move. Simply put, the move was a disaster. Packing began October 7th, and thanks to a small delivery we just received, three months later, delivery may now be complete

From the first day, the move was poorly coordinated and involved multiple blunders. As I list the types of blunders that happened, I assure you that some happened many times:

On moving day, the move truck already had a partial load so could only take part of our furnishings. The next day a second partially loaded truck took the remainder of our furnishings.

Upon the arrival of the trucks in Texas, we quickly discovered the incompetence of the packing done by [redacted] and has assistant. They had shipped items like the [redacted] homes' garage door opener, the controller for the fireplace gas logs, and the controller for a ceiling fan from Virginia to Texas. As we unpacked, things quickly got worse.

In unpacking, we found many items irreparably damaged or rendered useless. A number of lamp shades from expensive lamps were torn and unusable. A hi-fi component appears to have been left out in the rain, and was ruined. We have since purchased a replacement.

As an example of incredible stupidity, several battery driven tools were prepared for shipment by disposing of the end-fittings along with the included battery – destroying the tools.

I see no way to rationalize their shipment of several totally empty and unmarked boxes to our new residence.

A few weeks after the move, we received an email from James Buel informing us that the other party in the move truck reported they’d received several items that were not theirs. They would ship them to us right away. It took from November 7th until late January for these items to finally be delivered! One item in the small shipment was a box of “silver coated charger plates” used in formal place settings. They were all broken.

I don’t understand why Hilldrup functioned so poorly in this move? It would be some justice to learn that [redacted] and/or his assistant had been terminated shortly after our move.

In order to protect others who might consider Hilldrup, I feel obligated to report our experience with Hilldrup to the Revdex.com in Virginia.Desired Settlement: It would be appropriate for Hilldrup to have investigated this move and terminated several of the employees

We are currently helping him through the claims process toaddress any damages to his items and plan to offer him $500 above and beyondhis settlement to help compensate for his inconvenience.Our goal is to provide excellent quality service to everycustomer; we will carefully review the details of Mr. [redacted] move with theindividuals involved and provide additional training or take appropriatecorrective action with those members who fell short of Hilldrup’s qualitystandards. As always our clients’ feedback is appreciated, we would likeMr. [redacted] to know we will be utilizing his feedback to help ensure similarfailures are avoided in the future.

Review: My husband and I contracted with Hilldrup Moving and Storage to move our household goods from San Antonio, TX, to Fredericksburg, VA in September 2015. We had significant damage to our furniture and filed a claim after receiving the portion that was delivered to our apartment (the remainder went to Hilldrup's storage facility for transfer at a later date, and we have not seen those items to determine if there was any damage. There was damage to wood furniture (that has since been repaired), damage to a glass table top, and -- most significantly -- damage to multiple leather chairs that were part of a dining room set. In addition to repairing the wood furniture, Hilldrup has offered to replace the glass table top that was too deeply scratched to repair. However, Hilldrup has offered only $50 per damaged leather chair (3) that were part of the dining room set. The chairs were leather with wood legs and cost approximately $450 each in January 2011. They were purchased from Texas Leather in San Antonio along with the table. The dining room set was not used since being purchased and was in new condition when it was loaded on the moving van on September 22, 2015. When it arrived and was delivered in Virginia on September 29, 2015, the leather on these chairs was cracked and peeling, and there were indentions that have still not disappeared almost 2 months later. The mover acknowledged the damage when he delivered the chairs and attributed it to the heat in the moving van. The adjuster/person sent by Hilldrup to inspect the damage confirmed that they could not be repaired. The entire dining room set is no longer visually acceptable as a result of the damage to these 3 of the 6 chairs. Replacement of the damaged chairs would result in not matching the undamaged chairs. However, Hilldrup has offered only $50 per damaged chair.Desired Settlement: Preferably, I want all six chairs replaced with equivalent quality so that they match. At a minimum, I expect full replacement value ($450 each) for the 3 damaged chairs that were in new condition and are no longer usable.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Following is the relevant portion of my response to [redacted] at Hilldrup Moving and Storage. "Thank you for your email and offer of full replacement value for three of the chairs in my dining room set. In view of the fact that I have been advised, at no surprise, that any new chairs will not match my existing chairs, I am willing to settle on 4 new chairs that will match, vs. the 6 I currently have with this set. The chairs are high quality leather that needs to come from the same lot to match. I realize that your math, i.e. current offer of $1,350 for 3 chairs, is based on my husband’s misinformation relative to the current value of the chairs and, therefore, will accept $450 per chair vs. $479 per chair based on the earlier estimate of the replacement value. I’m, obviously, willing to sacrifice 2 of the chairs I have that will not match new purchases — and I feel that is generous on my part. With regard to delivery, and as I explained earlier, the chairs can be delivered to you at no charge. If they are not drop shipped to a place of business, the cost is $200-$300 to have them delivered to my home. I am currently waiting for Texas Leather to call back with a more specific delivery fee; they may not have this information until sometime tomorrow. In any event, I am not willing to absorb the delivery charge. It would seem to me that the easiest solution with regard to delivery would be to have them delivered to Hilldrup, and Hilldrup could deliver them to me when they pick up the chairs for salvage."

Hilldrup Movers have moved me 5, that is FIVE, times in the approximate 18 years. Each move has been great, thus I've moved with them over and over, and have recommended them to many friends. The movers are polite and willing to do whatever it takes to keep the customer happy, the set-up of the move prior was easy, even the trucks themselves seem happy and clean. Guys, I love you, and would want a part-time job with you now that you've moved me to the Richmond area.
