This is a great company and it appears that this site is filtering the content they post. Yelp, Google, Zillow, etc have excellent ratings for this company. Our loan was processed timely, closing was on time, no surprises, we provided all of the docs that were needed and/or requested and had no issues. It's disappointing that this site is not factually correct. I highlight recommend Homeowners Financial Group.

We are investigating this matter and will provide a response direct to the customer who filed the complaint. Thank you. *** ***, Compliance Manager

Horrible experience!! Go elsewhere!! Expected professional and courteous service. What we got was a headache, stress, incompetence, and unmet expectations from a company we trusted to do their job correctly. If a company cannot submit the correct loan paperwork to the appraisal company and they are not transparent about their mistake walk away!! We had no choice but to complete our closing but I feel like the bad guys got there commission and have the power to ruin someone else's First Time Home Buying experience. They turned what should have been a joyous moment into one of regret for trusting them to do their job and ruining the whole experience!!

See attached documents. Homeowners never brought up the existing home loan. Not even at closing. The existing home loan is in process of being taken over by ex-wife.

Completely unethical loan Mortgage practices I've been waiting for two weeks for a response from corporate funds were reallocated without consent. Do not do business with this company. I will be filing a complaint with the Division of Mortgage. The compliance officer just sent me an update and none of the information they have is accurate on my loan documentation. At the day of closing I was told to reduce my homeowners insurance to half of what the policy was and the loan reflects the full policy. There are funds missing from the transaction and corporate does not possess any urgency on resolving.

I don't know how many people this review will influence, but if I can prevent one person from going through the massive headache I did and direct some business and income away from them, this will be worth my time. I can not overstate the level of incompetence of the St. Louis Park office of this company. The story is long, I was referred to a specific agent/loan officer of theirs by my agent, who was AMAZING. Extremely personable, professional, great communication and worked around the clock to get my paperwork through as fast as possible. As far as I'm concerned the positives of this company started and ended with him. I don't know the inner workings of it, but miscommunications within the company caused 3 last minute (literally) delays of my closing (for a total of 3 weeks) to the point where I was legitimately days away of not having a place to stay due to understandable frustration on the seller's end. When I said the positives and negatives of the company ended with my loan officer, I meant it. He was so frustrated with the way it was being handled he loudly, vocally, belligerently expressed his anger and left the company. He apologized profusely to me despite holding very little, if any, of the fault in the situation. My agent also pulled multiple clients from them and vowed that neither she nor her real estate group would work with them for the foreseeable future. If there's one silver lining that came of this it's that there is empirical financial damage to the company due to their horrible mishandling of the situation. I will say that there are others at fault in the process, but they could have ironed the situation out much sooner, the buck stops with them.

But wait! There's more! After FINALLY getting to the extremely elusive closing table. Signing, putting everything behind me and moving on, I get some documents from them. I received what I believed to be down payment assistance money. It was downgraded to a smaller amount based on income, but that was completely fine with me and I was appreciative to have it. I was never told anything other than that it was assistance money that I would not have to pay back as long as I didn't move within 5 years, and there MAY be some fees associated with it after that, but they wouldn't be significant and most likely I wouldn't owe anything. Almost a month to the day I received documents which appeared to say I owed a monthly payment on the "assistance" money. I will admit, maybe I blindly signed something which disclosed this. If I did, it was never made clear to me by anyone. My agent did not know about this and hadn't seen a document like the one they sent me. My loan officer (now with another company, his great reputation and record made it easy for him to leave Homeowners Financial Group) was not aware of any disclosures on this. I'm honestly contemplating legal action, but I'm guessing I'd just get bullied in court by this group, as they've made it clear they don't care about the individual. I hope they buy something nice with this extra money they're getting from me and sleep well in their homes which, I can only hope, were less of a nightmare to get in to than mine. I hope they try to discount this, as any truths of the situation which were revealed would only damage them further.

Horrible! I was one day from picking up my keys on a new house, and Homeowners Financial would not fund the loan. This is after four months of working on the loan, four days after the loan was approved and closed at the title company. I had already ordered furniture and set up utilities! Unless you are interested in having your dreams crushed by a company that could care less, stay away from these guys.
