Hoosier Contractors was hired to replace the roof due to hail damage. I was told they would have it done in one day. They did not arrive on time and had to come back the next day to finish because they were short of shingles. I was also upset they used my electricity for the job. Also they required that I pay them when they started the tear off without knowing the full cost. In the valley over the front of the house the shingles do not follow the line correctly. Off center which looks bad for resale value of the property. After two weeks I received a bill which was not explained to me and I believe they adjust the bill for more money. I am a senior and have not been treated this way before. Please warn others about the bad business practices. Do not recommend this company.

We hired Hoosier Contractor's to replace the roof. We have had very poor customer service throughout the entire process. Here are my issues and complaints:
1) I was told that the roof would take 1/2 a day. They were here from 8 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. This means they were working in the dark and made me very nervous that they were doing a good job. It was also a disturbance to myself and neighbors who had to work the next day.
2) The Flashing around the chimney is very poor quality and was confirmed by someone from Hoosier Contractors as needing to be fixed. We are still waiting on someone to come and fix the flashing. It has been almost 2 months since the roof has been installed. We keep getting the run-around every time we call.
3) They sold us on getting soffit vents installed and a ridge vent. After they installed the soffit vents, I checked the work after they finished. I could only find 2 soffit vents. I was very upset because I was supposed to have 21 and that's what I paid for. The employee at the time only showed me the soffit vent that was installed and assumed I wouldn't check the other ones. They completely lied about doing the work. I had Hoosier Contractors come out again and the employee confirmed that there were only 2 soffit vents. Again, they had to come out and install more.
4) I received a call that they wanted payment. I said I wasn't paying for incomplete work. The employee said that if I signed over the check for the roof and held off on paying for the additional work, they would at least be able to get me the warranty information. I did as requested and signed over the check. I still have not received the warranty information.
The treatment we have received as someone paying for a $10,000 roof is very poor and upsetting. This is a lesson learned and I hope they will follow through on the flashing, but as I see it, it is unlikely to happen. I would not recommend this company at all.

DO NOT.... I REPEAT DO NOT use these people. They took 5 months to get to putting the new roof on. Granted the insurance caused part of the delay. During installation they caused damage that took nearly three weeks for them to come repair. And even longer to repair the gutters they damaged. When they did come to repair the damages, they fixed it wrong it used oversized trim. Additionally, the front desk lady is sarcastic and demeaning when you call to discuss a problem.

Hoosier Roof came to our house for a roof estimate for hail damage. The sales person explained they would help with my insurance claim and asked me to sign their form to authorize their company to talk with my insurance company.
When my insurance company sent details about our plan, and sent out an adjuster, we realized we have a very large deductable of $5000.
I told Hoosier Roof we absolutely cannot afford this and will not be hiring them to do any work due to the COVID CRISIS and being put out of work.
They (Sam-the receptionist) threatened me (yelling) that I HAD to follow through or they will seek legal action against us. She said she would have their sales manager and legal team contact me. I told her I would not be strong-armed into any work and I won't authorize their work on my property at any time or under any circumstances. She hung up on me. This is extremely upsetting and is not good for my high blood pressure managed by my doctor.
Also the sales person knocked on the doors of my neighbors after he was done at our house to hard sell them a new roof without authorization.
I want this to be posted for consumers to be aware of their shady policies and business.

One 5-11-2020 Homeowner called in- says her deductible is nearly 5k and she doesn't want to pursue her claim because her insurance is only approving a repair.I asked the Homeowner to send me the loss sheet to see what the supplement team can do. She is supposed to forward that over but never did.On 5-12-2020 Homeowner called in again saying that we cant hold her to the work agreement and she isn't paying us any money. As I was going over financing options, she cussed me out and talked over me.She ended up hanging up on me after her rant was over.So we have closed her file.

Hoosier Contractors replaced our roof in 2017, this was followed by recurrent leaks around chimneys and they failed to stop the leaks after they worked on the flashing in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, and after leaking again, they basically stopped responding. When we hired another Roofer, the new company provided a full report showing areas of poor workmanship, poor caulking, inadequate ice shields, poor flashing, and other issues,, we had to hire the new company and pay to replace the flashing. From the pictures provided by the new Roofer in the assessment phase and during the replacement phase, I don't think Hoosier Contractors knows how to do flashing around chimneys.

Hoosier was in the neighborhood working with a couple of my neighbors for storm damage this year so I had them stop by the house to take a look. They did find damage to the shingle and siding to my house. They helped me get through the insurance process (wow the insurance process is something else) and handled it so I didnt have to anything. They meet and emailed with me frequently to go over the process and next steps and I felt very informed on what was going on through our process. Saying that, the job is done and I have a new roof, new siding, new gutters, and garage doors. My husband and I are very happy with the Hoosiers Contractors and their products and communication through this claim. I will make sure if I am asked who did it then I will be referring all of them back to Hoosier Contractors! Thanks guys!

Lots of hail damage in our neighborhood. Hoosier Contractors provided a free estimate to inspect our roof. No hail damage was found. I appreciated them being honest and not charging for the inspection or telling me I needed work done unnecessarily. Will definitely reach out to Hoosier when I need roof work done!

Very bad experience with this company. They We were very reachable while working on my roof repair on 2017. The work was not done well. There were nails everywhere after the work and we had to clean them up by ourselves because they did not response to us at all after all money was collected. One of our guest kid had to go to emergency care because of stepping on the nail left behind.
Tow year later, we are preparing to sell our house and more issues were found on the roof. Called and emailed them many times, no one get back to us.
Be careful with what you paid for. And you might want to do a inspection before pay off them if you still want to work with them.

This is a good company to work with. Handling insurance claims is complicated and difficult to understand for most people. I believe insurance companies go out of their way to make things more complicated. Hoosier contractors helps people to understand more and they genuinely care about the work they do.

Thank you for the review. Many people only experience roofing insurance claims once, maybe twice, in their lifetime. Their's a lot of moving pieces if it's going to be done right. We are constantly analyzing our process to not just make it the best it possibly can be for the customer, as much as possible, but also for the insurance companies and mortgage companies. We have been recognized several years in a row as the top 1% of roofers in the nation, been given multiple awards for installation, training, and consumer protection. We also do siding and windows! Check us out online at HoosierRoof.com!

Great company to work with. House looks like new again.

Hoosier Contractors is a great company to work with and very professional in their services and contact! After a horrible windstorm in 2018, leaving our roof with exposed felt and missing shingles they responded quickly in getting our claim approved with insurance. We had problems with insurance only approving the front slope of our roof and not the back initially; Hoosier Contractors ensured we would get approved by advocating on our behalf with a public adjuster and after multiple insurance adjusters trying to disapprove us..Hoosier and the public adjuster got us approved! They were very communicative with us during the process on all levels and worked well with our ever changing schedule to get the roof replaced, gutters, and a professional painter to do wood repairs on our valleys and sofet areas in a timely manner. The administrative staff was wonderful too and very responsive to all our questions and ensuring we had payment receipts along the way with every step. Huge shout-out to ***, the lead contractor and Melanie in Billing; you have both been a true pleasure to work and very responsive to our needs! My husband and I are very satisfied with the work completed on our home and know this will bring excellent equity value to our home in the years to come. We highly recommend Hoosier Contractors for all your roofing needs!

Hoosier handled everything from start to finish; initially our Insurance Adjuster denied the claim, but Hoosier and their public adjuster worked diligently to get everything approved. Hoosier takes their time but for good reason! They were able to get our Insurance to cover over $5k more than the Adjuster initially estimated, to make sure everything that should've been covered, was covered. Alex answered every question we threw at him, and was very professional throughout. We'd recommend Hoosier Contractors to anyone, just keep in mind battling Insurance Companies does take time; if not anyone could do it.

Very helpful, definitely going with Hoosier after reading this.

They didn’t fix the issue on my roof that they said their roof repair on my ridge vent would fix the condensation issues my roof has. They made to many appointments to fix my issues and we’re always a no call no shows or used some excuses as to being to busy to do the repairs.

We stand behind our workmanship and our warranties. If any customer that we have experiences issues regarding any of our services we always do our best to resolve them in a timely and efficient manner. We do keep meticulous records however, we do not have any records of doing business with this person, this phone number, or anything at this address provided in the complaint. Also, we do not / have not ever serviced the Columbia City area. If there was a mistake in the entry of this complaint and you are in fact a customer of ours, we would be happy to discuss the issues with you further and hopefully come to a resolution.

We signed a contract 12/14/2018 with Hoosier Contractors to start the process of evaluating our roof for storm damage and to get it replaced. The insurance company agreed to replace the roof and because we signed the contract with Hoosier Contractors we were legally obligated to have them do the work. I was unable to reach anyone in the office to schedule the work so I had to drive to the office to do so. At that time no one would give me the CEO's contact information and I was given the run around. Finally Carolyn came out from the back office and said she would call me to get the work scheduled. The work was scheduled and eventually began. When the work began I asked the supervisor three times to put tarp down on a portion of my deck that was not protected but they didn't and damage was done to my deck. They have promised to repair the damage but it has not been repaired for 4-5 months....The installers damaged my gutters and we were promised that they would be taken care of but they have not now for 4-5 months. The trim work that was put back on our home was damaged but they put it back any way and they sealed it with black caulking and it is uneven and unsightly ...our home is cream. They replaced flashing by our front door in the wrong color and we were promised it would be redone and it has not for 4-5 months. A chunk of our siding was chipped out and we were told that would be repaired and it has not for 4-5 months.

Hoosier has through a second party filed with my insurance company for more money to complete our roof because in the process of doing the work they determined the roof was not up to code so they appealed to my insurance company for the money needed to complete the roof. We have been waiting months for that decision.

We appealed to Hoosier Contractors to at least complete the work that is not involved in the insurance settlement but they will not complete any of the repairs until the insurance umpire makes their decision. There is work that they are responsible for that could be done now. They do not want to do it until the insurance decision is made and they want to repair their damage only then and our request is that they at least take care of the items not involved in the insurance claim but they will not.

We have been left with an incomplete roof installation with poor workmanship and damage to our home. There have been numerous emails between us saying that they promise they will eventually complete the job but it shows bad faith that they aren't doing the things that aren't involved in the insurance claim. Our home repairs due to their poor workmanship could be being worked on now

We have been waiting months and we get promises but not work. We just want the work done that they did poorly and the repairs to the damages they made to our property.. They could be doing this now.

Please help

Tell us why here.
We appreciate your concerns. Regarding Insurance Claims services and construction, there are a lot of moving parts, but we do our best to ensure complete customer satisfaction. With that being said, not every claim is the same. In this industry there are often particulars that are difficult to identify and address until the construction process begins. With your claim specifically we came across an issue along the eaves late during the installation because the method in which the existing roof is removed. At that time, we made the decision to move forward and finish the installation to ensure that the roof would not be exposed for the time needed to address the discovery with your Insurance Company. Being that your insurance company still hasn't agreed to release funds to fix the problem it's a good thing we did. Since then we have been working diligently to resolve your claim in a timely and appropriate fashion however, because of the nature of this concern, the timetable has been extended.

During and after the install we were made aware of the concerns that you have mentioned. Re-roofing a home is considered major construction and there are certain aspects of the job that are unavoidable. With that being said, we have had over 20 conversations with you regarding the specifics of these items, how they will be addressed, and why we must wait until the claim is finalized before we can address them. Due to the nature of the structural concern that we are working on with your insurance company, it will more than likely require us to re-install a good portion of the roof if not the entire roof itself. There is roughly a foot to have foot Gap around your entire roof that no one could have known until the roof was off. Not even the insurance company knew about it. If we were to address the items such as the gutters, trim, flashing, and deck then we would putting those newly replaced areas at risk again when addressing the structural issue. Pertaining to the gutters more specifically, your roof is very steep which makes it nearly inevitable that the gutters would be exposed to potential/unavoidable minor damages.

All in all, we are working to resolve your claim and complete your installation in a timely and efficient manner. We have had multiple conversations with you throughout this process and will continue doing so until all the work within the Insurance scope is complete and satisfactory. We appreciate your business and look forward to a resolution in this matter.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 13771749, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Please provide the dates that the decking and the siding issues were completed? There is still a large chunk of siding missing to date.

Hoosier contractors installed a new roof on our primary residence last year. During the installation process, they left ridge vents open during a rain storm which caused multiple damages to the interior of the home. Cosmetic repairs were made. Subsequently, the roof leaked and it was determined by Hoosier Contractors that during installation, the installation team ripped off some of the roof decking and just laid shingles over an open hole. This led to water standing in the walls of the entry way, led to electrical issues and we have a mold report confirming mold in the walls and crawl space. HC told me they were arranging for a mold mitigation company to come in and lead the repairs. We had met with a plan. They were supposed to start, according to HC, on June 24th. I made myself available, time off of work, to be here for that entire week. No one ever came on that Monday. I have left numerous emails and calls to HC with no response. My dad had lung cancer during this time, and I could not move him in to my home due to the mold situation and impending repairs. It is completely unacceptable to me that this amount of damage has been done to our house after paying $42,000+ for this roof and I cannot get anyone to respond.

Thank you for your feedback on this matter. We called you today with an update. Before this message we were under the impression that the outside company had already scheduled and completed the work on the interior of the home. We are working diligently with them now to get this matter resolved. Thank you for your feedback and please feel free to call us with any more questions.

The work is great. They worked with another company to get my claim accepted by my insurance company (extremely satisfied). They were accommodating on scheduling and starting the work. Their crews (Project Managers and Roofing Subs) are the best. However, they are administratively messed up. They have a policy of deciding to not perform the work on the day of or a few days afterwards because they under estimated the project. They will tell you the work they will not do and leave you to find contractors to finish the repairs. Of course, they receive all of their money up front on the day they start the work (excluding any supplemental work that they allegedly submit to your insurance company after the job is done). Unfortunately, they are withholding all refund until the supplemental work is reconciled. Unfair. My job was scheduled and started in April 2019. The day of the job and the day after the crews left, their office staff (*** P) notified me that they cannot perform my gutter, screen and copper roof repairs for the price they quoted. I was directed to contact contractors on my own to negotiate the completion of this work. Of course they were paid for the work they decided not to do and have not received a refund to date (not even status). I have been contacting them for the last three months (July 2019) and do not have any clue as to when I can receive a refund to complete their work that they contracted to perform. The last correspondence I received from them was in May 2019. I have made multiple attempts (email and voice mail) to contact them regarding status. They choose to ignore my queries. I .am beyond hope for any resolution anytime soon. Even a simple status update would have satisfied my thirst to know what's happening. TOTALLY IGNORED! They have driven me to take further action to get this resolved. There is definite room for improvement in the areas of customer service and honoring contracts. Of course like all other attempts, I expect a NO RESPONSE reaction by them to even this review.

This is a dishonest company that just wants your money. We had a roof installed in November of 2018. Salesmen and staff were very attentive until they get our money. After receipt of our monies they haven't returned phone calls or provided us with information we requested. Our contact S.Vaughn told us we need new guttering when in fact we didn't. We tried contacting him to no avail. We arrived home one day to find men working on our home. We hadn't been notified that they were coming. We tried to talk to them but they couldn't or wouldn't communicate with us. Shrugging their shoulders but clearly communicating in another language. We left several messages for Hoosier. Our contact S.Vaughn did call us back and informed us that they could do anything they wanted to and we had no rights to tell them they couldn't work o our home. He was very rude and arrogant. Three months into 2019 and we've already had shingles falling off our roof and are still finding guttering nails in our yard. Save yourself a headache and DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!

Thank you for your feedback. We certainly try to do our utmost to ensure that we communicate the project plan clearly and concisely so that everyone is on the same page. It may have not been explained well enough but it is in everyone's best interest that the work be completed as it was outlined in the insurance companies' scope of work. It is our understanding that we have addressed any issues you have brought up with us previously, including those mentioned in this review. However, if you do have any further questions or concerns we are more than happy to help, just call us at 317-677-4755.

Hoosier Contactors put a new roof on our home and while changing out the furnace exhaust pipe in roof they disconnected the pipe in the attic and the return was blowing all winter allowing moisture to build up and has left us with a very wet attic floor and ruined drywall.
***, from Hoosier Contractors came out approx. 4 weeks ago and hasn't called, email, or made any effort to communicate to us since then. We have left multiple voicemails at the main office, always a machine, since we do not have ***'s number and still no one has returned our calls.

Hoosier Contractors Response • Apr 11, 2019

We appreciate your concern. We have reviewed this matter with our management team and have left you messages to get this resolved. Please call us back at ***. Thank you!

Hoosier Contractors offered a free roof inspection due to recent bad weather and from the ground even I could see some shingles were tipped. Everyone I had contact with from then on was professional & gave clear instructions about steps I was to take and things I needed to do.
They dealt with my insurance company and the adjustor so I have to say that was a headache off my plate. I am very happy with the end result and the clean up was another item that impressed me about their crews.
