*** signed up for sliding screen doors over the garage on 4.14.20. He was informed the doors normally take 2-3 weeks to get in from the manufacturer. At the time we ordered them we were in the middle of the pandemic and were told that in fact it would be 5-6 weeks due to the virus if they did not have to close.
Mr. called everyday wanting to know when, everyday it was the same answer, Mr. we were told 5-6 weeks. We do not make the doors, nor do we ship them. It is out of our hands until we receive them.
As time went on, we didn't return every call as it was the same conversation. At one point my 15-year-old daughter answered the phone and he cussed her out.
We received the doors on May 28th at our supplier, we picked them up on June 1st and went to install them. Installers ran into trouble as the bond beam over the garage door opening had over 2" of stucco. This is not typical! The guys had to go get longer tapcons and made Mr. aware that if *** did not have them, they would have to go back to our supplier and get them. At this point it was after 4pm and our supplier had already closed for the day. Mr. was told we would be back the next, he then freaked out about that and said, "That's not going to work." We told him of how rare it was to have so much stucco and that we could not get the right material until our supplier opened the next day. He continued to throw a tantrum, but knew we had no choice.
Next Day install goes well, Mr. even thanked them and mentioned he needed some other work done. He told them they did a good job and "it" was not their fault, not sure what he meant by that. Mr. calls the office and tells my daughter they scratched the material during install on one slipped screw. I called him upon my return and informed him I needed to look at the damage, he asked why, we argued about me coming out to inspect the damage. I told him I needed to see how bad it was to determine if replacement or repair was needed. Mr. said tomorrow was not good, so we agreed on Thursday. That week it rained every single day, Thursday was no exception.
Alan was out of town, so after him not answering when I called to reschedule, I decided to wait for Alan to return. Once he returned, I informed him of Mr. and his attitude. He called Mr., who did not answer so he left the voicemail that we would meet tomorrow for a check or were removing the doors and leaving the track until payment. Of course, that got his attention and he returned the call, cussing Alan, not once but twice.

The next day we arrive on site and as we were walking up the driveway Mr. comes out screaming, "Get off my property. I'm calling the cops." He calls the cops and they instruct him to go inside and wait for units to arrive, he tells them we are "armed rednecks" and while talking to them writes a check for the balance, walks to the edge of the driveway/road throws the check on the ground. During the 30 minutes we wait for units to arrive, he is standing in his driveway cussing and throwing a tantrum the entire time. At one point I tell him to go inside as he was instructed to do and he tells me "to mind my own *** business, this is my *** house." The Sheriff shows up and informs us that they have been to Mr.s house on several occasions, they are no stranger to his antics. The Deputy picks up the check from the ground and ask Mr. if it is OK to hand it to Alan and he says yes. The Deputy hands us the check and tells us to have a good day.

The response given by Hough Roofing is totally false and full of lies. The facts are that the few times I called the office went unanswered. Hough would never returned my calls to check on the order. When I did get a call it was that I was being a "jerk". This is certainly no way to speak to a customer. They failed repeatedly to follow up with my concerns over poor installation., instead threatening me by stating that "he knew where I lived". This certainly was a vailed threat. After almost two weeks of no response Hough decided to leave a threatening voice mail in which he said he would be at my house. I took this as a threat and call the police. They informed. Me that if he did show I should call them again. When Hough pulled up to my house with another fellow I told them to stay off my property and inside to call the police. Hough continued to curse me calling my a "***" and saying in front my neighbors that he knew where I lived. When the police did arrive, his demeanor changed to a more civil one. According to the officer who was here the day before, Hough is known for this behavior. I do not appreciate being called names and subjected to this type of behavior from a business. His reviews reflect many of the same things I experienced. Do not let him get away with painting a false picture of the true everts. He was paid in full for the screens even thorough the screen door was damaged by his installers. The lack of customer service and response is appalling. The accusation of me cursing at the girl who answered the phone is false, however I do have a recording of Hough and his son-in law calling me names. Believe what you hear . I would not recommend anyone to do business with this company .

Hough Roofing built a roof on to my patio. Work crew did a super suberb job!! This company is efficient, skillful and very ethical. Prices are reasonable. The crew are hard workers and very precise on doing a perfect job. This was the second job Hough has done for us. We are happy elated and thankful for such talented skillful workmanship. We highly recommend Hough Roofing!!

This contractor did a terrible job, work was sub standard, owner came and looked at it and said it was a terrible job. Then cursed me out, no fix
Check out

Desired Outcome

Refund a portion of the cost. Owner said he would lean property if we did not pay. Cursed at me and called me dead beat among other bad words. Very unprofessionsl and a mean person. We are not only people in our development to be treated this way. Check coments on Yelp

Dan signed an estimate for an 8x26 3 wall screen room under existing roof, making it a contract to complete work.

He also signed to add a 12x16 patio roof with a 4th wall. The screen did not require a permit, but the patio roof did. After several months of waiting for engineering for the patio roof we told Dan we could do the screen room but were unable to complete the patio roof due to our engineer being behind on work due to understaffing. At this time we refunded his deposit, but agreed he still wanted the screen room.

We installed the screen room and the guys who did so made a few errors. The foreman met with Dan and they agreed on a way to fix the errors. At that time Dan was told we would come back to fix the errors but we expected balance on completion given his deposit was refunded on good faith. He was willing to provide payment on completion.
8.22.17 the foreman personally went and fixed the errors, Dan was satisfied with the jobs completion. The foreman presented dan with an invoice, he stated that he would provide it to his lawyer and see if he'd pay. The foreman stated that that was not what was agreed upon, but do what you think you need to do.
After a week he was called and informed that his contract stated that if payment is not issued he could acquire late fee's, $25.00 a day. A check was delivered less than a week later, 8.27.17.
This job has been completed for almost a year & Dan has just now filed a complaint. I would like to mention how he has verbally attacked me every time I am in his neighborhood. . So much to the point that he would shout to me that he has put a hit out on me.

Dan has conveniently left some of these key points out in his "complaint".

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It is no surprise that Mr. H responded with an untrue store. We were advised in March that they would install the screen room which they did, during that time we left the area for 3 weeks for a family funeral and on our return we stopped Mr. H who was in the neighborhood and ask him to stop by and look at the work performed. He did and said it was a pretty bad job and would have someone come back to fix the issues that was 3rd week in April. A week later we received an envelope in the mail with the contract we signed the words contract cancelled and included the $500.00 deposit we had issued.

We called Mr. H and asked why he cancelled the contract which was for the Patio Roof and Shutters for the front of the home, he said he did not have an architect and it would cost more to get one to complete the contact we said that was fine and just let us know what the added cost would be.

We heard nothing and then after about 6 weeks his Son-in-law (his foreman) stopped and said his father-in-law wanted payment for the screen room, we discussed the issues and I advised him that we had forwarded the contract and photos to an attorney to see what our options were. He said let me see what I can do to satisfy you since they had lost so much business and employees because of his father-in-law.

The few errors that Mr. H stated were minor included 66 holes drilled by mistake, all rails were not level, screws were not completely installed in the door, and no caulk was installed.

He did a nice job on the caulk, and installed the screws in the door, the screw holes had small plugs installed, which really are not nice looking.

When he completed I asked him to get me an Invoice and I would ask the attorney if I could settle the issue. A week or so later he returned with a file and stated they really were having trouble with finding the information and we went thr*** the file and found the original quote, he then proceeded to write a new contract which he wanted me to sign, I explained to him that I was not signing a contract and wanted an invoice he advised they did not send invoices. I told him that I needed to get to the attorney in Orlando and would get him a check with the attorneys approval within a week.

He told me that because of the bad job they were changing how they were going to do the screen rooms.

The next morning Mr.H*** called and called me all kinds of curs words and threatened to put a lean against our home.

The attorney advised to make the payment by certified letter since the amount was under $2,000.00 dollars. We have not seen Mr. H face to face since the day he came to look at the issues, he has been seen in the development and has driven pass our home many times but he never stops. I did tell him on the phone when he was using the bad language that I would love for him to come and talk to me like that face to face.

We do not want anything from H Roofing as we have contracted another company to do what H was suppose to do. The work the company we hired to complete the work did it perfectly, the screen room that H did is going to be replaced by the contract who did the work that H was suppose to.

The reason we took so long to advise you of this we were told by a neighbor to let the Revdex.com know how this company treats people.

Look at *** we are not the only people who have the same issues with this company and if we can protect one person by advising you of this type of business we will have accomplished something.

I contracted H Roofing in jan 20017 to tear off my old shingles and replace with new peel and stick and new shingles and install new aluminum porch. $1500 deposit $15,131 job.. I called in march and asked about scheduling Alan owner stated he was having problem with engineer plans and get back to me.. a month went by called asking , his response was the same.. called back in a month said he got the plans and was bringing to county ..I called back and said he was picking them up and call me to schedule.. 1 month later I called to see what was happening and stated if your company can't handel this contract that id take a refund and find another, which put Alan in a rage ... I simple asked if company could handle the contracted Job.. he said I was next one on the list..Several moths later I called and he said he was Finishing one and schedule me next. It wasn't till last week in September that he was starting work which was week of Irma, so rescheduled for following week.
First day they showed up 11ish with a crew of son-in-law , older guy and a 10 yr old and a 12 yr old on my roof.. I got a call maybe 3 hours later stating that the old roof was sticking to the peel and stick and they couldn't remove old shingles and that he would credit me with time saved from not removing roof and material. So they would do a one -over placing new roof over old roof.. of course by the time I got home the area that they started to remove shingles was covered with fresh tar paper , so I couldn't see what the issue was I'm thinking they didn't have the man power to complete this.
The next day I returned from work and they were laying new shingles over hip covers of old roof. I called Alan and asked that this was not right, the old hip covers should be removed and new shingles need to be cut and ne hip cover be installed the son-in-law response was he had never done a one -over so he didn't know.
Roof was completed and rained the next week I had leaks I called came and repaired by patching with tar, son-in-law explained that the shingle was damaged from forklift prior to installing( so why would you install a damaged shingle on a new roof)which several others were damaged also..next rain I had spots appearing on my ceilings , I call Alan to make sure he showed up because he wasn't around the whole job.. so after some confusion and me turning around ¾ of the way to work (Apparently first thing in the morning is whenever they feel like showing up because no time was given and some of us has to punch a clock). So I get there on the roof and Alan proceeds to tell me "why would you have leaks if old roof is under it" I said im not making this up let me show you the spots where he went off again treating me like a 12 year old explaining that the stains were old spots abd leak on porch was because aluminum creates condensation , which at that time I relized this man will never admit to wrong doing..his solution was when I saw water leaking to give him a call and he would be over so at 1030 pm on a Saturday night I didn't bother because I would get no response like I did so many times before.
Insurance company sent their inspector out and he found over 80 nails partially showing or fully showing. So I emailed H roofing stating my issues and the response I got was a threat to put a lien on my house for remaining payment of 1,100 dollars..I responded that instead of threaten me if he spent that energy making sure I had a quality job we wouldn't be in this stage.. again he threaten me again with a lien, which he has now started proceedings
Here is my issue like I stated to him:
I contracted for a removal of old roof , reapplying new peel and stick, installing new shingles and installing a new aluminum roof
What I have is a leaking, patched up, nail exposed(which they would have to patch over or remove and chalk holes) and leaking porch would you want that on your roof because in 7 yrs who is goanna repair it than instead of the 15 yrs warranty
This company is unprofessional, unreliable, bad workmanship, understaffed, and run by a man ALAN H who just doesn't care any more and the business is just a cash cow to him , Sad part his daughter and son-in law work hard believing someday it will be their company but by then it will be in shambles . Nice going Mr H way to treat your kids

Hough Roofing & Screen Rooms Response

Hi there,

This particular customer is actually in the process of scamming his insurance and making it look like it's our fault. Every piece of evidence he has actually contradicts himself. Our lawyer does in fact have all of this information and we are pursuing it as he has not paid in full on this job

I signed a contract with Hough roofing on 6/16/2017. He told me it would take 6-10 weeks. I gave him a 400.00 deposit and then when the 10 weeks were up I proceeded to call and find out the status of the job. The calls were made before the storm. (Irma) I spoke with the daughter and she told me Mr.H*** would return my call. He never did. Made another attempt to call week later and the same thing, Daughter states Mr.H*** would call me back and again never did. I realize with the storm and all the damage it is going to take time. I left another message stating I signed a contract with Hough roofing and if he couldn't do the job to call me back and give me my money back. Still no call. Very disappointed. Poor way to do business. I even went to the address of business and no one is ever there. There even is no sign on the building stating his business.

Desired Outcome

Refund I would appreciate a call from Mr.H*** in regards as to whether is going to do the job. If not would like my 400.00 deposit returned.

We have been short of employees since the first of the year. We started with 20 employees and are now down to 4. There simply is not any help available. This is the worst year for help that I have seen in 37 years in Brevard. I understand Mrs*** is frustrated as am I. I hope she can understand that. A refund check is in the mail for her.
