Review: Our friend group rented a house through Island Properties of the Pines in July of 2013. I am writing this on Oct [redacted], 2013 having still not received our security deposit on the house for $1,300. This was due back, according to our lease, on August [redacted], 2013. I have made over five requests to have this money reimbursed, each time with promises that "the check is in the mail".Desired Settlement: I would like our security deposit refunded.

Response:
I have no idea why you are emailing [redacted]. She no longer works for this company. The complaint was regarding a tenant who was asking for her security deposit and it was mailed to her on time. Unfortunately it was mailed to her with the wrong zip code and returned to our office. After it was realized that the wrong zip code was used, the check was then resent to the tenant and the tenant was notified of this yesterday. The tenant should receive the check , addressed to the right zip code, this week, as it was mailed yesterday.
Review: The complaint is against Jon W of Island Property of the Pines. After renting a house for a week on Fire Island through this company, specifically Jon W, we have not received a refund of our security deposit ($1700) from the summer of 2015. After initial reluctance from Jon to return our refund at all because of an issue with the house that was not our fault, the owners of the house had to intervene on our behalf to demand he return the deposit. Several months went by and despite Jon saying he mailed it, we still had no refund. Because of a change in our address during that time, we gave Jon the benefit of the doubt and provided him a new mailing address. Once again, he said he mailed it. And again, we never received it, this time Jon W claiming the check came back to him in the mail. When I demanded resolution of the issue, he promised to return the deposit personally and on the day he was due to deliver it, he claimed a "medical emergency". He is promising delivery next week, but is clearly not to be trusted. We are still waiting a return of our deposit.Desired Settlement: A refund of the $1700 security deposit.
