J & R Towing and Recovery Reviews (35)

Revdex.com, we at J & R Towing are not interested in taking parking passes out of vehicles in order to create an impoundIf this was the case we would pull way more vehicles a nightWe are contracted to remove vehicles that are in violation of not having a pass or not in the correct spaceThe only reason why this gentleman's van was photographed was because his vehicle was in violationHere at J & R Towing we are trying to build a good reputation and this can not happen by removing passes from vehiclesWe have enough properties and impound opportunities that we neither need to, nor are interested on such behavior

Revdex.com spoke with a representative from the business who stated that the sign posting the fee information states "Private property impound fee starts at $125." The fee for this particular location was actually $150, and the after hours fee was $50, so the customer was charged correctlyThe business also stated that they take pictures of all vehicle before they're towed, and according to the picture, this vehicle did not have a parking permit in the window

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below The $fee is illegal according to Richmond City towing ordinance regardless to whether it was night or day since we picked up the vehicle within the first hours Regards, [redacted]

This company will disrespect you openlyThey operate in a sketchy way, and workout out of a building that has for sale signs on itSome of the windows are bordered up and they tow for illegimate reasonsEven seeing a parking pass and moving it saying the car never had one but upon pickup seeing the tag in the seat of the vehicleAction will be takenThis company is not accredited and further complaints are pending

***, Im sorry that you had an unpleasant experience from our towing companyI want to ensure you that this was not the intentThe $fee that you are speaking of, is the after hours service feeOur tow trucks run hours a day, but our business office does not You were given the option on the phone to pick up your vehicle the next day (during business hours) and pay the $125, however you decided not to do soSo please don't act as if paying the extra $was your only option The $after hours service is put in place for reasons, one being because I have to pay someone to come out in the middle of the night to release a vehicle, the other reason is because it also used for safety, protection, and insurancePicking up your vehicle at night and in the dark, doesn't allow for a "clear view" of your vehicle, which could leave it open for situations to occur where a customer is claiming possible damage the next dayHowever, once it leaves our lot, we are not responsible for any physical damages, scratches, etc The $after hour service is used to encourage and promote the idea of customers being able to come in the daytime, speak with someone in the business office if necessary, and able to sign off on their vehicle before leavingAgain, Im sorry of your experienceI hope that we have the opportunity to meet again and conduct business on better terms

Hi Revdex.com, This customer came to shop and later told me that it was her brother he came to pick up the vehicle and that she was aware that he had it

They stole my vehicle because my decal was not "displayed accurately." The police had to get involved because the person dropping me off came inside to pay with me and they don't authorize anyone on property that is not there to pay

I apologize that this customer had this experienceOur office is open from 9am-5pm Monday thru Friday and 11-day and sunDuring those times someone is at the office and available to release your vehicleHowever after business hours, you can still pickup your vehicle, however you are subject to wait because it is after hours so someone has to be sent back to shop to do the releaseHaving the opportunity to pickup the vehicle after hours is a courtesy for this reason, that someone has to be sent back out to perform the releaseHad you come the following day between the hours of 9-then you would not have had to waitUnfortunately after hours this is a possibilityAs far as the location, there are not many areas zoned for towing, and most of them fit the description of looking abandoned, dark and creepyWe encourage people to pick up in the daytime during office hours for this same reasonAgain I do apologize for your experience and we will do better at trying to coordinate releases with drivers

Hi Sir, II'm sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with my companyRegarding the sticker, a permanent sticker can be placed on the front or rear window, as well a visitor or temporary sticker will be hanging mostly from the windshield or on the front dashWhen you say that my driver was looking through your vehicle we was merely searching, and with a flash light, to see if a pass could be locatedI stress to my drivers to search thoroughly to cut out the chance of it being overlookedNow if your son did not have a pass in his vehicle between the hours of 11pm and 6am, then it was a valid hookupThe $drop fee that was charged is the legal drop fee amount for Henrico County, and the statement about the fact that he would have been more willing to work with you had you not talked disrespectful and mean to him, is not an unfair statement and I'm sure this is the case of anyone and everyone who is coming to someone and expecting for the other person to provide them with graceEveryone is more willing to lool out for you when you have come with a calm and even stoneIn regarding the notice, it clearly states that there will be no towing for the expired Jandecal which has nothing to do with parking passes or the decreased expectation of having oneAgain I apologize for any wrong doing that you felt you underwentI hope for the opportunity to serve you again and give you a better impression

Hi Sir,

II'm sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with my company. Regarding the sticker, a permanent sticker can be placed on the front or rear window, as well a visitor or temporary sticker will be hanging mostly from the windshield or on the front dash. When you say...

that my driver was looking through your vehicle we was merely searching, and with a flash light, to see if a pass could be located. I stress to my drivers to search thoroughly to cut out the chance of it being overlooked. Now if your son did not have a pass in his vehicle between the hours of 11pm and 6am, then it was a valid hookup. The $50 drop fee that was charged is the legal drop fee amount for Henrico County, and the statement about the fact that he would have been more willing to work with you had you not talked disrespectful and mean to him, is not an unfair statement and I'm sure this is the case of anyone and everyone who is coming to someone and expecting for the other person to provide them with grace. Everyone is more willing to lool out for you when you have come with a calm and even stone. In regarding the notice, it clearly states that there will be no towing for the expired Jan. 16 decal which has nothing to do with parking passes or the decreased expectation of having one. Again I apologize for any wrong doing that you felt you underwent. I hope for the opportunity to serve you again and give you a better impression.

Hi Revdex.com, This customer came to shop and later told me that it was her brother he came to pick up the vehicle and that she was aware that he had it.

[redacted],

Im sorry that you had an unpleasant experience from our towing company. I want to ensure you that this was not the intent. The $50 fee that you are speaking of, is the after hours service fee. Our tow trucks run 24 hours a day, but our business office does not.  You...

were given the option on the phone to pick up your vehicle the next day (during business hours) and pay the $125, however you decided not to do so. So please don't act as if paying the extra $50 was your only option.  The $50 after hours service is put in place for 2 reasons, one being because I have to pay someone to come out in the middle of the night to release a vehicle, the other reason is because it also used for safety, protection, and insurance. Picking up your vehicle at night and in the dark, doesn't allow for a "clear view" of your vehicle, which could leave it open for situations to occur where a customer is claiming possible damage the next day. However, once it leaves our lot, we are not responsible for any physical damages, scratches, etc.  The $50 after hour service  is used to encourage and promote the idea of customers being able to come in the daytime, speak with someone in the business office if necessary, and able to sign off on their vehicle before leaving. Again, Im sorry of your experience. I hope that we have the opportunity to meet again and conduct business on  better terms.
