they lost our box in an overseas move and they are charging us for the cost of the box which was not shipped
On July 12, 2019 Jay's Transportation in Moose Jaw picked up 11 boxes to be shipped to Scotland and we paid $2753.00CAD for their delivery as well as one month storage and the insurance at this time. This was based on a quote of 500lbs (75 cubic feet). On December 30, 2019 only 10 boxes arrived, on the delivery slip it said it was 481lbs (74 cubic feet). We were not informed by them at any point in that 5 month period that one of our boxes was missing so had to call several of the companies involved in the move, in Scotland as well as to Canada, to find out that it had been lost before the shipment left Saskatchewan. When we first spoke with Jay's in Moose Jaw they said that "I was waiting for you to get in touch" - this is terrible customer service!
We have been emailing them back and forth since we got our shipment trying to get a resolution to this but they have just emailed us saying they are only paying out the insurance claim not refunding us for the cost of the missing box not being shipped, even when in the quote and final confirmation *** they sent it says "The final bill will reflect the actual scaled weight/cube of the shipment." which we have prepaid for a larger weight/size then we used. We have not received a final bill to this date.
This process from beginning to now has taken 8 months, during that time we have had little to no information from them about what is happening. Our big concern with their customer service is that in 5 months no one contacted us to let us know that there was a lost box. The company knowing that it was missing for several months without informing us was quite unfair and very unprofessional. Even if the box had been found before our delivery arrived it would not arrived at the same time and we still would have been uninformed, confused and having to call to find out were the box was.
We were urged by them to file the claim and told that if we filed the claim they would no longer look for the box. We filed the claim in early February and they continued to look for the box not settling the claim as they said they would.

Desired Outcome

A refund for the shipping cost of the undelivered box as they lost it, we should not be paying the shipping cost for something that was not delivered compensation for they way they have handle the situation would be great as well

I would like to apologize to for not informing the customer of the loss sooner, in was thought that we could remedy the problem before the shipment was to leave but we were unable to remedy by finding the missing carton so we are sorry for not letting the customer know.
we have settled the missing carton through the insurance process and will issue a cheque in the amount of $2070.
We will also include $150.00 to offset the reduction in shipping costs. although the entire contents of the relocation was $2753.00 and Jays will pay back $2,220.00 and the customer did receive 10 of 11 cartons shipped Jays will lose money on this as we should. our regret is that our customer will not receive all of the goods that they had shipped and we can only apologize for this.

I moved from Toronto to Regina. The weight of goods is less than what I was charged. They won't speak with me to resolve.
I used Jay's to move me from Toronto to Regina. My goods were picked up in Toronto in August and sat in Jay's storage until Nov. 1. The weight of the items seemed very high. Almost double what it was two years ago when I had Jay's move my stuff from Regina to Toronto. They agreed to do a re-weigh when my stuff came out of storage and was delivered to my new place. According to the weigh bill that the Regina driver provided for me on the re-weigh, I had been overcharged by 369 lbs. I contacted them by email on Nov. 5 and did not hear back. I followed up with a phone call a few days later and they said they'd get back to me. I've since followed up again by email, asking for the name of the manager (on Nov. 19) and still I have not heard from anyone. I'm being ignored and I know I was overcharged both for the move and for the storage. The charges are based on weight.

Desired Outcome

I want to pay a fair price for the move. According to the weigh bill in SK I moved 1000 lbs. I did take a few items out of storage early and I weighed these items at 111 lbs. I should be paying moving expenses on 1111 lbs and not 1480 lbs. My storage bills should be adjusted to 1000 lbs.

I had placed a complaint a few weeks ago regarding Jay's Moving providing me an incorrect weight of my goods and as a result, overcharging me. The complaint was closed after Jay's told me that their partner, ***, would refund the appropriate amount. They told me to give it a week or two for processing before the refund was issued.

It's been about 3 weeks now and *** is not providing a refund. I also had another issue with my goods being damaged that *** was dealing with and they have since stopped communicating with me entirely.

I initially made the moving agreement with Jay's but now I've been passed off to ***, who like Jay's, just refuses to communicate with me.

I'm unsure how to proceed at this point. My move was on November 1. The driver gave me the actual weigh bill that day that proves the over payment. It's going on 7 weeks now to get my bill adjusted. This is not to mention the damaged goods.

I hired this company, and they sent two guys to pick up my stuff. In the move, they damaged the wall and the couch, which I immediately contacted the company over. They movers acknowledged that they caused the damage, and I was told that it would be taken care of and urged to sign off. Over the last few weeks, they have switched their opinion because I signed off, despite being urged too AFTER talking to the company. They offered me minimal compensation for the couch and left me hanging on my wall damage, even going so far as to deny they were even NEAR the wall.

Desired Outcome

Wishfully, they'd do exactly what they said and fix the damage that my landlord has now charged me for, as well as a fitting compensation to the couch they destroyed

There was miscommunication on the property damage as the damage waiver was signed clear we initially denied this claim, however upon further investigation we will pay for the property damage that was caused by the sofa leaving the residence as we have talked to the loading crew and they admit to the damage. The sofa will be settled at the released coverage as this is the coverage that was chosen by the customer.
