JDM Engine Depot Reviews (22)

Review: I purchased an engine from JDM Engine Depot on February 26 2013. When I installed it, it failed to start. The company guarantees their engines will start. I called them and explained to them the problem. They told me I had permission to remove parts from the engine to delve deeper into the matter and see why the engine was giving of a no oil pressure code. Upon further inspection it turned out the engine was no good. They agreed to take the engine back and send me another. First they picked up the defective engine and charged me a $150 shipping fee. Then I had to wait a few weeks before they shipped out another engine. I believe they sent back the same engine because this engine also turned out to be the same thing non working. I disputed it through my credit card company Chase. They refunded me the shipping cost and put a temporary credit for the engine cost of $824.00. Just recently they said I had to pay since I did not return the merchandise. The company is supposed to pick it up their merchandise. I keep calling Chase however they are giving me the run around, so I told them I would be contacting the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back. I cannot use this engine it is defective. It was sent to me DOA and I have wasted my installing it twice only to find that the motor is junk. I am not asking them to pay me for my labor. I just want my refund and for them to pick up their engine at their cost.

Apparently, the you to think that he can purchase an engine, INTERCHANGE PARTS, and return the said purchased engine. You keep believing that we shipped out the same engine you shipped back, we are not as deceitful as you are. If you notice through your invoice and please review it in detail, the first engine we shipped out was engine number [redacted]. The second engine shipped out was [redacted]. The first engine, i.e. [redacted], was NEVER returned complete. It even had missing bolts and parts that did NOT even belong with that engine that was returned. The H23A engine has a metal oil pan. You decided to send it back with an aluminum oil pan. If you were instructed to check the oil pump, why was the pick up tube removed and only being held down by 1 bolt. Even WALMART will not let you return something in those conditions as you shipped back that engine. We were still nice enough to send you a replacement and you still decided to put in a chargeback. That's not the way business is done. If you look at the pictures, image 1 shows the way the engine was shipped back. There were many missing parts and parts that were never shipped back. Image 2 shows the block number. Images 3 & 4 show how we ship and sell our engines. If this is the manner you were expecting to receive the replacement in, it was NOT going to happen since you deliberately shipped back the original with missing parts and parts that did not belong with the engine to begin with. There is a code of ethics that comes into play here and my friend that is something you lack when putting complaints like this up.

I am rejecting this response because:

Once I found that your engine was not working and giving off a check engine light I called you and explained that I needed to inspect it further. Your representative told me that this was fine that I could go in and remove parts to see what the problem was. I have changed countless engines with any problems, this is not my first engine installation. I have even purchased many engines from your company without any problems so I am confused as to why you will not take your defective product back.

I removed parts and even purchased a new oil pump from the dealer to see if indeed that was the problem however it was not and this engine could not be saved. When you received the defective engine back you send us a replacement engine with those same parts removed so there was no loss there on your part. You did not send us extra parts. Also we did change the oil pan to see if that was the problem. We have the original pan if you would like it back that is not a problem. The parts are waiting for you along with your engine you can come and pick it up any time.

The bottom line is the two engines you sent are defective, you have sold us a non working item which you claim will work. I have wasted my time and resources installing it twice only to have to fail twice. Obviously upon inspection of the returned item you found it defective or you wouldn't have sent us a replacement, that's why it took you two weeks to do so.

Response:

The biggest issue was that the engine you shipped back was missing parts and had parts interchanged. Your complaint was that we had shipped out the same engine as previously shipped with problem which was not the case. In providing the replacement, we still wanted to help out, and that's exactly why we shipped the replacement engine to you. The replacement engine shipped was compression tested and the whole nine. There were no problems with that engine. Our track record shows that you've ordered once with us before which was an H23A engine. Therefore from previous experience, you should be aware of our warranty procedure. In a warranty procedure the customer is to ship back at his expense the item that was defective, no parts interchanged, no parts removed. You failed to do so. The engine, as said before and the pictures clearly show it, did not come back under those terms. This is why the parts were removed from the replacement engine and put onto the engine that was returned. We feel we have made a valiant effort to fix this problem but unfortunately, we are not coming to a conclusion.

Review: I purchased a used Transmission for a 2000 Honda Accord on 10/15/2014 for $299.00. After the transmission was installed, two mechanics stated that is was defected. After repeated attempts to contact this business they eventually blocked my phone number. It was installed on 11/22/2014. It was purchased with a 90 DAY warranty.Desired Settlement: Would like to return product also.

Response:

Customer received the transmission on 10/20/14 according to the tracking information through the carrier. Customer expressed on 12/3/14 that he was having an issue with the transmission. On the same date, via email, I stated to please email or fax over the work order with a copy of the mechanic's certification as per our warranty information. Customer states that we blocked his phone number. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WE DO THAT?! If the customer installed it on the 11/22/14, the he IS out of the warranty time, once again as per our warranty info. 90-day warranty applies to non performance engines only. Now, my question is this, if he received the transmission on 10/20/14, why was it installed on 11/22/14. In our experience, it SURE doesn't take a mechanic, especially for a Honda transmission, a month to install a transmission. That does not seem credible.

I am rejecting this response because:I Am Mrs.[redacted] first of all. When I ordered the part it was stated by the business that it came with a 90 day warranty. As soon as I was able to install part it was brought to my attention that it was defected. When I contacted said business they asked me to let them speak to the mechanic.I called said business and my call could not go through. After several attemps I ask my brother to place the call from his phone and he was able to connect with [redacted].[redacted] told my brother to have mechanic to call him.My brother tried to give him the number and was rejected. The whole point of me contacting Revdex.com was lack of communication from said business after three attemps from not only my phone but others as well.I had two different mechanics state that the part was defected.

Response:

We have many people contacting us on a daily basis. Once again, there is no way we can reject any calls from coming in. On top of things, we have 3 phone lines that of which [redacted] pick up calls. Emails that we have received from the customer have been duly noted as well as responded to.
