Warped Double Hung Vinyl Window
Called customer service and they said it’s not covered. Horrible attitude and customer service! The lady was rude and didn’t care at all. Have 42 windows in my house and you can bet that won’t ever use Jeld Wen again. I’m also a builder and will never use Jeld Wen in any of my builds ever again!

Jeld-wen Customer care won't honor their warranty.
In 2001 I purchased a new home package from Normerica Homes. The package included exterior windows and doors from Willmar, a division of Jeld-wen. The windows are supposedly covered by a warranty that extends to the end user. The seals have failed on almost all the double frame windows. I contacted Jeld-wen's customer care (warranty) department and they opened a claim (SR-189095). They asked me to send them proof of purchase and photos showing the failures. I complied with both requests. Then they asked me for the original cost per unit of all the failed windows. Since Jeld-wen sold them to the home builder in a package, they (Jeld-wen) never priced them individually. Therefore, instead of reimbursing me 25% of the replacement value as the warranty states, they will only offer me $100 per window (total $3800). I have 3 replacement quotes which average $30,000, without installation. Therefore they should be reimbursing me $7,500 rather than $3,800.

We purchased new Jeld-Wen doors through*** The doors were delivered with damage. We are waiting on a partial refund.
Double exterior entry/front doors

June XX XXXX - We purchased our Jeld-Wen front doors through***. It was understood that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to have them manufactured and delivered for installation. The installers took our old doors out and began removing the old frame as the delivered door box had no damage to it (one would assume the doors inside would be flawless out of the box). However, when the box was opened up, there was a dent in the bottom of one of the doors - had to have happened in the factory because the frame and box were not damaged. Plus there were 2 fairly large blemishes where the hinges notches were cut into the door (like they chipped a small chunk of the door out). We contacted Jeld-Wen about the issue and they agreed to manufacture new doors for us... another 4 to 6 weeks. In the meantime, we had to install the new doors that were delivered because the old frame and doors were already removed.

November X XXXX - We received our new doors. However, since we were just installing the new doors and using the existing frame, the hinge cuts had to be perfect and match. They did not and those doors could not be installed. Again, on the phone with customer service and they offered to manufacture yet another set of doors and chance that this time the hinge cuts would match while waiting another 4 to 6 weeks (keep in mind that June was the original purchase date). My wife and I decided to see if they would just do a partial refund on the existing doors and be done with it rather than waiting another 4 to 6 weeks. I was able to speak with a customer service representative and convey this option of just receiving a partial refund of 50%. She said that she would have to run it by her managers.

December X XXXX - It took me a month actually get some type of response from the customer service person I was assigned to - I left multiple voice messages, emails, and no response from them. Finally, I received a short and simple email that they agreed to the partial refund and to send my receipt for the doors which we did. No response that it was received. No response that anything was being processed. Nothing.

February XX XXXX - We are still waiting for our partial refund. I actually had to get the*** rep involved and she was able to contact them and get them to respond (January 27th), which they said they did not receive my emailed receipt (I resubmitted the receipt). I've submitted a message to them through their website with my claim number and received no response (they claim to respond in 48 hours). I left a comment on their FB page and received a generic automated message through FB Messenger asking me to direct message them, which I did. Still nothing.

I am absolutely blown away by the lack of customer service for what seems to me a simple solution - write us a check for the partial refund (50%). At this point it has become a very bitter experience for us and we just want this resolved and close this chapter.

Desired Outcome

My wife and would simply like a partial refund for the doors that we agreed to keep "as is." They agreed to a 50% refund on the doors as noted on December 5th, 2019 (I have the email if needed).

I bought a new pre hung 36" entry door for my home. This door has a defect in the sill plate.

Purchase date 1/03/20 model number from*** Jeld wen Claim # ***. Ok Now door was installed by a contractor 25yrs exp! Door has a defect in the sill plate it has a 0.25" bowe from factory. This was nothing the contractor had done. The jams are plumb and level all gaps around the door are with in acceptable standards. Jeld wen refused to send a tech to inspect said door. They just made a assumption that door was installed incorrectly with out even looking at door. They only looked at pictures And stated this is not a warranty issue.

Desired Outcome

The only resolution that would be satisfactory would be to fix the issue. Unfortunately this means installing a new door. The new door would be damaged when removing door to fix.

The jeld wen co. has sent an inspector 3-5-2020 at 3pm to look at issue concerning their door. I am awaiting their decision once they receive the inspector's report. Their inspector stated I should have a response within 2 weeks. If they will fix the defective door jam.

WARNING: All my Jeld-Wen windows in my basement leak and have caused permanent water damage. Jeld-Wen has refused to honour the warranty terms.

These windows are less than three year's old. They are low quality and clearly do not provide an air-tight seal. Even the City inspector commented that these windows are notorious for leaking and recommended I contact the builder.

I submitted a claim against the windows and they are insisting I pay $194.25 inspection fee in advance despite their warranty which states, "If your warranty claim is denied, we may charge an inspection fee for an onsite inspection that is required or requested by you."

Do NOT buy windows from them!

They did not provide the hardware that was supposed to come with their product (door)
I purchased a JELD-WEN door from Lowes on Oct 8th. When we had it installed, Oct 22, we found that none of the hardware that was supposed to be included. I called Lowes who told me to email customer service at JELD-WEN for the missing pieces. I emailed them on Oct 24th. They responded quickly asking me for my receipt, which I provided. Since then I heard nothing back until Feb, in which they asked me for the same information. It is clear they are not wanting to provide the promised hardware to complete the door installation, as they only send me automated emails asking me for the same information. The hardware that was missing is required to install correctly, which is all the strike plates to prevent damage to the door frame. All strike plates were missing and Lowes said they do not have the size as it is specific to this model of door. Missing 3 strike plates.

Desired Outcome

I simply want the hardware that was supposed to be included in the door. This missing hardware is already causing damage to the door frame.

Ordered a door mid Dec 2019, place a deposit, told door would be in by mid Jan 2020. Currently no idea when I will receive door
In mid Dec 2019, I placed an order through *** for a Jeld-Wen front door. After placing a deposit on the door I was told it should arrive around Jan 15th. On the 15th, I was told due to the holidays, my door was pushed to Jan 23rd. Around the 23rd, *** informed me that the door would now not be ready until mid Feb. Currently, I have been told that they (Jeld-Wen) will not provide a delivery date.

Desired Outcome

I want the door to be delivered immediately and at a discount. I have already waited more than 1 month beyond the promised delivery date AND I am still waiting.

Ordered & installed 19 new windows - all leak air at seams. Multiple attempts to contact company unanswered after documents requested were submitted
Ordered wins, installed, noticed gaps between upper/lower panes on all panes windows - can see light, especially at corners. Contacted CS by email. They gave me ref # SR-XXXXXX. Requested addl info - I sent copy of inv from Menards and info off window, per their request. (Pix attached). No further contact from them even though I've made multiple attempts via multiple emails.

Desired Outcome

Want them repaired so they don't leak air, replaced, or my money refunded for the cost of the windows plus the $250 for installation of each window so I can get them re-done with quality windows from another company.

Purchased a door from Jeldwen and when door finally arrived, it was malfunctioning or poor design. Filed a claim with no help resolving or replacing
I purchased an Entry door from JELDWEN through Lowes Home Center on 5/24/19 and was told my door would be delivered on or before 6/21/19. I had multiple attempts with Lowes trying to find my Entry doors and even contacting JELDWEN in Grand Prairie, TX to find out ETA. No one could locate my door to my new home. Finally, someone located my door still in the warehouse sitting on the dock, unmarked. My door did not arrive until 3 weeks after promised delivery date. Had my door installed only to find that it was warped and will not operate properly. My contacted the warranty department and they took sooo long to respond and when they finally responded, they asked for measurements of the door. I have since sent them measurements and they have yet to respond. I just finished building my new home and now I have to rip out the front door because it was poorly manufactured and designed, just to replace it. My door is still under warranty, not to mention, it was sitting on a dock somewhere unaccounted for weeks before it arrived. I had to call multiple times for someone to physically go FIND MY DOOR! If this is way JELDWEN does business, NO THANKS! I want my money back ASAP.....

I had dual pane doors and windows from Jeld-Wen installed in two apartments November and December, 2019. They were not installed properly, not on time, and with parts including screen doors missing. The Pelletier company disclaimed any responsiblility, claiming they were not a licensed contractor, and still have not supplied the missing parts, two months later. Expensive mistake.*** no stars

The tempered glass on the wooden doors is defective b/c it scratched very easily.
The glue on the windows was impossible to remove & damaged glass
The frame material is wood.
It's a double French door.
All 15 windows on each door (so 30) say:
XINGFU Glass
Tempered
***
The hinges say "JELDWEN" etched into the brushed nickel. The door was purchased at*** on Oct 23, 2019 order no. HXXXX-XXXXXX.
A very thick solid layer of glue and white paint covered-and still does cover-both sides of each window pane. The goo-gone and rubber knife was entirely ineffective at removing any glue. After HOURS of trying this method the glue remained. Light use of a razor blade to roll the glue off scratched the tempered glass. No instructions were provided on how to get the glue and paint off the windows. I've used a razor blade on every window in my house to remove paint from the glass and never scratched tempered glass. Jeld-wen defected glass is scratched and looks terrible. The door is ruined and their customer service stated "
We recommend spraying the overflow with a can of compressed air upside down to freeze it, then using a rubber putty knife and it will come right off. If you used a razor blade and scratched the glass this is not a manufacturing defect and would not be covered under warranty."
The manufacturing "defect" is the poor quality glass AND whatever glue Jeld-Wen used in the windows.

Will never purchase low quality Jeld wen again.

Desired Outcome

New door without glue or paint on the glass

I've been in contact with JELDWEN by email providing pictures of the door and various receipts. I did not have pictures of the door before any of the paint, glue and plastic was removed. Thus far, my understanding is they find my receipts insufficient to identify the door as well as the identifying etching in the corner of each window pane.

The frame material is wood.

It's a double French door.

All 15 windows on each door (so 30) say:

The hinges say "JELDWEN" etched into the brushed nickel.

Our patio door was installed in the fall and by winter we had moisture and mold building up in the window of the door. They claim its our house or installation but our other windows and doors do not do this, our contractor insists its the door not our home or installation. I'm allergic to mold and any mold is never a good situation. Had this door been installed years ago I would never reach out to the company but only a few months after installation and we had issues. It only has issues in the winter, door doesn't move easily and the pictures speak for themselves, I wish I could display them. Horrible quality. Notice the wall is fine so if there were issues within the wall I would have moisture on the wall as well but there isn't.

Leaking Jeld-Wen Windows
I have a sunroom with 3 walls of Jeld-Wen windows which were installed 11 years ago. The room gets flooded every time it rains - the whole floor is covered in water in a matter of 2 hrs if I'm not home to catch it. All trim, drywall, etc. is removed to expose the window frames and water exit points into the room. Jeld-Wen says it will not honor its warranty because they only guarantee "factory mulled windows" vs. windows that were mulled (attached together) in the field. The majority of windows are mulled in the field as, in this case, 8 mulled windows (comprising one wall) could not be transported and installed in a condo. Jeld-Wen says I should take it up with the installer and there must be "an installation error". When I asked them what the error is or to provide me with installation instructions they could not do that. When I asked them to send someone to evaluate it they provide me with only one name for the state of *** and the person does not return calls, emails or texts.I remain with a gutted room and no use of my room for over one year. A room which floods every time it rains. Jeld-Wen needs to make this right - the replacement of the windows, the $6K for remediation and gutting of the room, as well as the distress of recurring flooding in the room.

Desired Outcome

Replacement of leaking windows.

JELD-WEN Response • Jan 10, 2020

JELD-WEN has reviewed the documentation for this complaint. It has been determined the issues with water intrusion are an installation/mull design issue and not a product issue. A representative from JELD-WEN's Product Integrity Group spoke to the Ms. to discuss the issues with her field mulled windows. The windows were not installed per manufacturers' instructions and the mulling does not meet any kind of wind load structural rating for this application. Recommendations were made to engage a Building Envelope Engineering Firm to assess the structural loads and installation requirements and make recommendations for the appropriate window design and structural installation for this wind load application.

I ordered several jeld-wen windows from home depot and from original delivery 6/2019 have had issue with quality and performance of an 8' slider.
I purchased windows for a custom new construction home being built and took delivery of the windows on the third week of 6/2019. These windows were installed within only a couple of days of delivery and at this time we noticed that the two home depot(XXX-XXX) *** mulled door with transom were not closing correctly and it appeared that the glass frame and doors had a slight bow to them. We paid $2,023 for the two doors. Following installation I contacted home depot to start a claim on the damaged product. While waiting for HD's response we were able to get one door to operate somewhat and the other was bowed and still to this day does not close correctly. HD order number *** from april 22, 2019. On 7/11/2019 I finally received email confirmation of a case opening for *** Since this time I have had a jeld wen tech come out and inspect the door and unsuccessfully correct the issue. He requested a replacement panel and this took until october 2019 to receive. This was worse then the original door. I have been fighting with jeld wen scheduling and warranty departments to resolve this issue since late october. I am being forced to escalate this situation with no hesitation because this issue is hindering the sale of the custom build home. jeld wen has taken no corrective actions other then send a panel that was worse then original and now creating a hazard. The *** door construction is horrible and unsafe with the amount of flex in the glass and plastic. I do not feel safe when operating these panels especially in the bowed status. I need to put jeld wen on alert about the safety issue that they are neglecting to take swift action with address. Since october I have had multiple rescheduled appointments because the tech has not received the panel from the factory. I have cancelled two vacations in order to be present while this issue is once again attempted for repair. Now I am looking money daily as I have a house that can not be sold because of the defective jeld wen product. Most recently 1/3/2019 jeld wen has called to cancel the appointment once again with no reschedule date. I have had it with the un professional attitude that this company takes as resolving this safety and operational issue.

Desired Outcome

I want this issue resolved asap with a new panel. If jeld wen decides that they can not resolve this issue within a reasonable time from then I would like a full refund for both sliders as they are installed in a pair and discount on an upgraded safer model that can be installed asap.

Door for new home was deficient. Jeldwen refusing to replace or respond to issue any further.
CLAIM REF*
and ***

New home build

Back door was installed without error as noted by Jeldwen technician. Install date was 08/18'. Temporary door handles were installed as the new home build continued. Months later upon proper lock and handle installation it was found that the door strike did not line up as well as the cam locks were set in the wrong location, not allowing the door to close or lock properly. In addition the door sweep was falling off and the top hinge screws appeared to be coming loose. Our own technicians tried to tweak the door several times over a two month span as each issue seemed to be very minor. After several small repairs we notified our distributor on March 21 2019 that this door had too many problems from the beginning and we could not be going back to adjust this door constantly. The new homeowners deserved a proper functioning door.
We were contacted by customer care March 27 2019 and we responded March 28 2019 explaining the issue and the urgency. We did not get any response so I followed up April 11 2019 and April 18 2019 with the representative over email and did not get a response until April 23 2019. Jeldwen technicians did not come out for a few weeks after that (do not have the date as it was scheduled over the phone). During this period without response from Jeldwen the door had become harder and harder to properly lock and close for the homeowners as the loose top hinge screws caused the door to sag more and the cam locks became impossible to engage. In one instance the door swung open on the homeowners after trying to close, ultimately loosening the rest of the hinges. The Jeldwen technician that came out after noted the door slab had to be replaced as the screws to the slab were no longer holding.
After several email exchanges regarding warranty in the months following, Jeldwen is insisting that I must pay for the new door slab because it was damaged by the clients. It is absurd that Jeldwen could send us a deficient door and frame, then expect us to pay for the new one ourselves because it eventually failed while not getting a responding technician for almost two months. We have never had a problem with the quality of Jeldwens products on any of our homes except for this one case of a deficient door. We are hoping this can be cleared up and rectified.

Desired Outcome

Replacement of the door slab and touch up of the frame from the door friction. We are not seeking replacement of the frame as we already made custom door strikes so that the deadbolt and latch could line up with the slab holes properly in order to close/latch properly for the homeowners.

JELD-WEN's Customer Care department has contacted the consumer and have come up with a resolution to the back door slab issue. Customer Care is also scheduling a service visit for the issue with the entry door.

Jeld-Wen customer service is the worst ever!!!!!!!
I've been dealing with then for months to get a warranty issue resolved. The shipping was a disaster as the door panel had to be delivered by a semi trailer. We live in a cul-de-sac so the truck wouldn't go down our street (couldn't turn around.) We tried to get them to have it delivered in a regular old box truck. There was no need to use a semi for this product. They refused and their shipper told us that they would leave it at the end of the block and that my wife and I could carry it to our house, We live on rather long block and we would have to carry it almost 200 yards. We both almost 70 yoa and I have a bad back!!!!!
Finally got the door panel after we paid to have it delivered but the hardware didn't match as JW said it would. The installer took it back out and we had to get new hardware. We had to pay the installer for his time and work.
Customer service was called and after waiting an inordinate time on JW's insidious voice mail system, I finally got through to some rather uncooperative rep. and nothing got resolved. After being pushed around, I got to a supervisor who wasn't much better. Many promises were made but none kept..
The bottom line is that I was promised reimbursement of costs incurred due to JW's less than stellar performance. This horror story has been going on since September. Despite constant assurances that the check is in the mail it has not been received as of today (12/30.).

JELD-WEN contact Melody V informed me; a glazing warranty replacement is to be sent to *** in***. Claim number ***.
