Review: I used the site to apply for a job. I was given opportunity to take advantage of other services they offer but I declined. They offer a service to help you find schools, a prepaid visa, and assistance with signing up for the military. immediately after I submitted my resume, I started getting dozens and dozens of phone calls from unknown numbers.[redacted] answered a few of them and they were all from schools (online) saying I sent an inquiry fir more information. I eventually got a call from a representative at job.com. she said they offer a complimentary school search and that she would submit my information to a one school in particular. me hoping that would stop the calls, zi got more and more calls from different schools, emails and voicemails. these places call me all during the day while I'm at work and will not stop calling unless I answer and tell them to stop. each person I speak with all tell me that I was the one who inquired fir information. I never gave this site permission to give my information away. I take this as a firm of identity theft or fraud. The calls will not stop. The numbers are all different. I know need to change my phone number. how do I know if an actual job prospect us calling me or not? My resume gas my phone number and because of this fiasco, job.com could be the reason I miss out on job opportunities.Desired Settlement: I'm not sure what can be done but this site needs to stop blindsiding people. I regret the day I registered with the site!!

Response:

Dear [redacted],

We are very sorry to hear about the poor experience you've encountered after visiting our website. We are in the process of reviewing your account in an attempt to reveal the root of this issue. Please be assured that Job.com does not share any information with third parties without our user's consent. In an effort to get to the bottom of this, we would like to ask that you share a bit more information to help with our investigation. For example, have you visited and/or signed up with any other career site on or around the same time you signed up with Job.com? If so, what sites did you use?

We're taking this complaint very seriously and would like to turn over every stone possible to ensure that something like this does not happen in the future. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we look to resolve this matter.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Regards,

First, this was the only website that I applied for a job and it did not even give me an opportunity to submit a resume during the process. Secondly, I received at least three calls from untraceable numbers to whom the callers identified themselves as calling from job.com. They asked me about going back to school and I declined. I asked several of the schools about job.com, of course they didnt appear to know details of the site, but a few dud confirm other complaints from this site's victims. I called and sent several emails to job.com, prior to my Revdex.com complaint and never got any response. Its laughable that their response is referencing as if "it wasn't them?" They wont even delete your profile from their site. Job.com needs to be shut down!!!

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted],

Thank you for providing us with more information regarding your job search experience. While we cannot permanently delete your account for internal reasons, we have removed your email address and phone number from our system to prevent you from being contacted. Once again, we are terribly sorry for this inconvenience and assure you that we are continually investigating this issue to prevent it from happening again in the future.

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. Review: Unethical sales practices is not a good definition in my case. Unethical as a standalone definition for job.com is though. As a jobseeker wishing to submit his resume to a posting seen on indeed.com the link unfortunately sent me to job.com and their login page. The first step was registration. After completing the registration form, at the bottom of the page was a statement (basically) that job.com will use this information and will give (sell?) it to other entities for solicitation purposes. They provide a link for you to click on if you do not wish to agree. The link however takes you straight back to the top of the registration page. Twice. I tried to go to my account page and or my profile page to remove/delete any personal information but job.com would not allow it. Twice. I was stuck on the registration page. I attempted to maneuver back up the registration page to manually remove my information. Twice. Again, it was disallowed. I felt that if I finished the registration form I could then get to my profile and remove myself from job.com but I was moved right into another page with presumably the same modus operandi. It was a frustrating and very angry time on job.com which won't be repeated. I exited the website and came straight here.Desired Settlement: job.com as a business will fail and be denied right to file any chapter of bankruptcy

Response:

Good Morning,

In response to [redacted] complaint, Job.com would like to apologize for the problems he had while attempting to use Job.com. I have worked with our [redacted] and [redacted] on this issue. We attempted to duplicate the problem that [redacted] encountered when trying to utilize Job.com, but were unable to do so and had no problems navigating through the registration. We are not sure if he encountered a temporary error, but if so, it appears to have been resolved. To further investigate though, our [redacted] was researching with our IT Department to see if there were any logs of any such errors. Again, we do apologize for[redacted] issues with our website. To address his complaint regarding unsubscribing his information and being unable to log into his account, we have unsubscribed his email address from emails sent by Job.com.

Thank you,

Review: I began filling out my information at job.com. I abandoned the site when I realized that it was trying to get me to go back to school instead of getting a job. I have a BA and am a licensed Paramedic. I have since been receiving phone calls to my personal cell phone. Most of the time, these numbers hang up immediately, but others try and convince me to go back to school. My wife answered and spoke with a man that said he would take my name off of the list. I just received another hang up phone call. I have no interest in ever dealing with this company. Further, when I try to use the job.com site to delete my phone number, it registers me as logged in, but when I try to change my information, it asks for my email and password. It then rejects them.Desired Settlement: Stop Harassing me.

Response:

Good Morning,

In response to [redacted] complaint, Job.com would like to apologize for the poor experiences he encountered after leaving our site. While a phone number is required to register for our free job searching services, every member is given the opportunity to opt-out from being contacted during the sign up process. After looking in to [redacted] account we found that he was opted in to be contacted, however we immediately reached out to our partner who manages our outside call center to address the inappropriate and rude behavior exhibited by the representatives in this case. The partner not only confirmed that [redacted] was in fact removed from their call list, but they also supplied the voice recording of the call where the call center representative professionally accepted [redacted] request to not be contacted moving forward. Please trust that we take feedback such as this very seriously and conduct very thorough investigations to understand the reasons for the complaints, and take necessary action to come up with the best possible solution. In regards to [redacted] inability to log in to his account, Job.com provides a "forgot password" link for members having trouble logging in. We recommend to job seekers to utilize this functionality in the event they cannot access their account.

Thank You,

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Although I accept the insincere apology from the [redacted], I would like to point a few things out: My wife and I both requested my number be removed from the call list. I am not sure that it has been removed since I received a call after filing this complaint. I ultimately blocked the number from being able to call my phone. With the proven dishonesty of this company, I do not doubt that they are still attempting to call me. The practice of "job.com" to sell my cell phone number to marketing companies demonstrates their legitimacy. I never voluntarily elected to being called and hung up on. To simplify for [redacted], I answered the phone promptly (within 2 or 3 rings) and then heard a pause and a click. This happened several times. Although this may "Not" be directly linked to job.com but a company they gave or sold my number to, I don't see how it could possibly be "my fault". Additionally, one of the numbers called and asked if I was planning to go back to school. When I told them that I did not plan to go back within the next 6 months, they hung up on me. There was not a "Have a nice day" or a "goodbye." They hung up on me. While I am glad that they admit to having the recording in which I requested my number be removed, I wonder what was done of the recording of my wife requesting the same. Finding an earlier recording in which my requests were ignored would be much more relevant if they were actually looking to resolve their harassment issue.

In regards to the change password option. I am perfectly aware of how to recover my password. Maybe I was unclear. I was already logged in to the site when I clicked to edit account info. It then redirected me to a log in page that consistently rejected my log in information. To clarify: I was already logged in. I had already put my password in. It was already accepted. When I went to access my info, then it asked the password again and stayed locked on the page. I appreciate the explanation of how to recover my password, but this has no relevance to my issue since I already knew my password.

As I said, I do accept the apology because I have already blocked their number from calling me. There is nothing they can do, but I would appreciate it if they would not sell my personal info to anymore third parties. The resolution that I would like is to have my information removed from job.com and not have any more of my personal information sold or given to third parties. Again, regardless of any small print or checked boxes, I would not like any further contact from job.com, any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, friends, associates, partners, or related companies. I would appreciate it if none of my information was passed on, sold, given, or used by job.com. Please allow this information to include, but not be limited to my phone number, email, and home address.

Review: I'm asking for a refund of the $75 I spent to have my resume sent to businesses as stated in the agreement. The only thing I have been receiving from this service is Insurance companies trying to get me to start selling insurance and that is all. We do not receive a report or anything to show us where our resumes are going. I believe that this company is scamming consumers and that by merely posting your resume on their site is sufficient and that the paid services are fraudulent since they can't even provide a report to the consumers on where they sent your resume. Please work with them to refund my money.Thank you,[redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund my entire purchase price of $75

Response:

Dear Sir or Madam:

Job.com for jobseekers is a resume posting service. The customer goes online and submits his or her resume posting. The customer fills out all of the contact information and all pertinent information for the resume posting and submits the form through the website. The resume is then posted to the website. The jobseekrs sign up for resume posting upgrades at a pay for use basis for a one-time fee. In addition to the products offered directly by Job.com, Job.com also offers services to jobseekers through various partners.

Terms of Use:

Job.com may offer jobseekers, candidates, and resume posters enhanced membership services either through Job.com or other third-party providers. Such enhanced services may include but are not limited to: upgraded resume positions posting, mass resume distribution, third party reference checking, etc. These services may be offered on a PAY-FOR-USE BASIS. User agrees by accessing these services to be responsible for all fees associated with said services and that since these services are delivered on a pay for use basis that user WAIVES any and all rights to refunds once they have accessed and or used such services.

Such is the case with [redacted] purchased a Resume Distribution service for $49.99 and a Resume Platinum Priority Upgrade for $25.00. On June 8, 2013, this service allowed [redacted] to have her resume distributed to a targeted group of recruiters via email by Job.com partner [redacted] to have that match her profile of what [redacted] selected in her Job.com account. The resume upgrade allowed her resume to be the first resume Recruiters and Employers saw when looking in the resume database under the field she selected in her account.[redacted] is asking for a refund for her purchase because she has not been receiving responses and the only thing she has been receiving is insurance companies trying to sell her there service. She also stated that we did not provide her with a list of companies her resume went to. However this is not the case. We distributed her resume to 486 Employers and Recruiters. She received 3 responses from this service. We do not guarantee a job or responses from this service. We do guarantee exposure and visibility which is what we have provided. She would not have been sent responses with out Job.com distributing her resume. Therefore we provided a service she has paid for. Job.com does not off refunds for distributions. This service is a PAY BY USE BASIS as stated in our terms and conditions. We do offer a list of companies that the resume was distributed to for a fee of $19.00. This is the firm name listing. As a sign of good customer service we will offer her a free redistribution to send her resume out again and she can change her Locations and industries. [redacted] will have to contact us if she would like to have her resume distributed again for free. I have provided [redacted] account information and notes as well as her responses that were sent to her email address that she provided. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope she can take us up on our offer.

I hope this information helps you with your investigation. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call me directly at [redacted].

Review: In applying for jobs (I am currently unemployed), I was redirected to the job.com website where I was directed to "register" before proceeding with the actual job application. Subsequently, I wanted my information removed from job.com as I would no longer be using that website and service. I e-mailed customer service asking them to delete my information. The e-mail thread follows:

Dear [redacted],

Thank you for using Job.com! We are unable to delete your profile from our system because we must keep the account information in our database. Our company must account for all transactions and account histories. However, per your request, I have reviewed your account and see that you do not have a resume posted. Therefore, your account with us is inactive, since it cannot be searched or viewed by Recruiters. If you are concerned about outside parties being able to view your information, you need not worry because only you have access to this secured account. We have unsubscribed you from our email subscription list.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you,

Cornelius

Review: I joined this web site in 2011. I no longer need the service so on 08/29, 09/07, 09/10, 09/13, 09/15/ and 09/17/14, I have contacted them to be removed from all email notices regarding employment opportunities in Santa Rosa CA. They advised me on 09/08, 09/13 and 09/16/14 that I was removed from "our subscription management system" from a [redacted] (his email address of [redacted]). On 09/17/14, I once again received an email listing employment openings in my city. I no longer wish to receive these notices from Job.com, however, they refuse to release me from receiving these now very unwanted emails. I strongly feel this is nothing less than internet harassment involving unsolicited contact. I'm also wondering now if this doesn't involve wire fraud which is why I have no choice but to contact you for assistance. I do have copies of each email to and from Job.com showing the dates and will continue to save them until this is resolved.Desired Settlement: A formal letter of apology from Job.com and [redacted] acknowledging their reason for refusing to comply with my repeated requests and mismanagement of their own web site containing misinformation that you may unsubscribe from Job.com at any time. And that I no longer receive any emails from this site.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

We are sincerely sorry for the negative experience you've had with our services. The issue you have encountered in regards to your email opt out requests appear to be an isolated one. While we were able to locate the records where you requested to be opted out of our email services, our Customer Service Team took all appropriate steps to remove you from our system. Unfortunately, there was a technical issue on the backend that prevented our associates from seeing that you were still receiving job alerts despite the fact that they had submitted your email to be removed from all Job.com mail messages.

Our System Administrator was able to fix the bug and officially remove you from our email list. Once again, we are sorry for the terrible inconvenience, but thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns. Moving forward we will be taking a more proactive approach to ensure that all of our processes are tied firmly together so that we can fulfill all job seeker unsubscribe requests without any complications.

Review: this company is using people to post seemingly legitimate jobs on crags list then contacting and saying they would like an interview but first must post resume and register with job.com. the human resources assistant instructed me to let her know via e-mail after I had done this. right after I replied that my resume was uploaded I received a call from a telemarketer from job.com trying to sell me something. after this I realized it did not seem right and was most likely a scam. then a reply from the same fake company the next day from their human resources director wanted me to down load a tool bar from better jobs.com

very sad to prey upon ernest job seekers

please look into this matterDesired Settlement: these companies should not have to lie to people to attract traffic to their website. I would like this practice to stop

Review: 10/26/2014Dear Business Bureau,I am writing to file a complaint against Jom.com for not delivering my resume in a timely manner. Also, not delivering at all a copy of cover letter which was included in my resume package for $99.00. I barely received a copy of my resume much less a copy of a cover letter which I asked my writer for several times during this process. I paid for a resume package in September 18, 2014 and my bank account was charged on September 19, 2014. After the process was taking so long to complete I asked my writer for my money back, or another resume writer who could complete my job. I received nether, I want my money back or my job completed, and a copy of cover letter as their add states. Response:

We appreciate the opportunity to respond and fully resolve this claim. As a

client-focused organization, we, at Job.com Resume Services, are focused on

providing those who utilize our services with the utmost in professional

caliber resume documents and associated support services. In this trajectory,

we’re happy to ensure that [redacted] escalated concern is addressed and

rectified in a timely manner.

Within [redacted] order, we show a steady stream of communication between the client as

well as the senior-level writer assigned to the account ([redacted]). The shorter

delays noted were principally in relation to our writer not receiving the

documentation and messaging noted. For example, the client noted submitting

revisions within a previous email but these revisions were not effectively

received on our side; consequentially, the writer was not in possession of the

required information.

For example, on October 19th, the writer reached out and inquired about the status

of the project. Our writer, [redacted], noted that we did not receive any feedback -

as their past message as simply copy/pasted resume content into the body of an

email; consequentially, no comments/feedback were visible. When notified of the

issue, the writer instructed our writer, "I'm sorry I don't have enough

information to complete that section. Just do the best you can."

Regarding the cover letter issue, this appears to be a problem associated with the

selection of the wrong service on the payment page. We offer 2 payment options

towards the top of our payment page, directly adjacent to one another. One is a

resume-only service ($99) and one is a resume and cover letter service ($99).

It appears the former was selected for this project.

With the previous issues mentioned, we are absolutely committed towards ensuring all

of our clients leave our service with a positive outcome and net experience.

With that focus, we have reached out to [redacted] to offer a full refund and will

issue that immediately upon the client’s response.

Again, we appreciate the opportunity to best serve our clients and look forward to

fully resolving the situation. Thank you!
