John Doggett Reviews (23)

Almost 7 months ago we had a new a/c heat unit installed by "Boiling Springs HVAC" located in Boiling Springs SC. After talking with [redacted] who came out and gave us a quote on the work. We decided to go with them because, it was the lowest quote we had gotten... Reminder to ourselves and others alike: Cheaper isn't always better. We had recently replaced our old thermostat with a new one with the auto heat, a/c, humidity control functions the cost of it was over $100.00.... A new thermostat was included with the new system. My husband was sure to point out we wanted one that functioned the same as what we had. [redacted] assured us that it would. In all we paid a little over $4,000.00 to BSHVAC before they would come out and install I had to pay half then pay the rest when they finished the install. An install date was scheduled for the following week.
Finally after canceling 2 times they installed about 3 weeks later. With the new install the location of the thermostat was moved so, they removed the existing thermostat. At that time the guy layed it on the dinning room table I said, that's fine but, it's literally brand new we haven't had it long so, just leave it there we want to keep it as a back up. Every thing went great during installation. Later that evening I was going through paper work and realized the thermostat was gone. Along with the box to the new thermostat and all its paper work. We tried to reach [redacted] a numerous amount of times for the next couple of months. Trying to leave messages when it didn't say, sorry mailbox full... We even called his cell that he had given us with no success. None of the messages were mean or inappropriate we were trying to handle things in a civil matter... Eventually we just gave it up as a lost cause scenario.
Then in September we began having some chilly nights and mornings. On a very cold morning my husband woke me and said it's 60 degrees inside shouldn't the heat have kicked on??? I stumbled to the thermostat to check that auto was set... well, to my surprise auto setting was no option. It was then we said, well that wasn't what was in the deal. From September until the end of November we tried to get it touch with [redacted] again... after the usual no answer, no message option etc. We finally spoke to his secretary [redacted] who was much nicer and more help than anyone there. Always, being told yes I gave him your message, I put a note on his desk, etc. Finally [redacted] "Mr. Personality himself" called my husband then told him our almost new thermostat costing over $100.00 had been taken at time of install. His reply was, why are you just now calling me??? Really??? Husbands response was I've been trying to call for months with no returned calls on messages left or no success on reaching you at all. [redacted]'s reply Oh, well we've been having trouble with our answering service. I think we're going to have to get someone else... my husband reminds him of the thermostat that was included was suppose to be auto compatible. At first he seemed hesitant about giving us a thermostat we were suppose to receive in the deal. Husband says well bring me my thermostat back that one of your guys took... [redacted] says, we will get you one. It will be 2 weeks before I can get somebody out there. Then, 3 weeks later no one called or came. My husband called again. [redacted], oh yeah we've been busy someone will be there within 2 weeks. Finally a so called service tech was sent out with a new thermostat. He came in and said oh, is this one torn up? My reply no... We were suppose to get one with an auto function where it switches from heat to a/c without having to manually do so. Oh, he said... I don't have that I'll have to go to the warehouse for one of those I'll be back in an hour or so. Frustrated but, trying to bite my tongue I said, okay thanks so much. An hour later I receive a call from [redacted] the secretary she said, [redacted] says you can have a thermostat like that at our cost and there will be a service fee as well... I am beyond frustrated at this point!!! I explained to [redacted] that I know this is not your fault but, this is Bull [redacted]! This is not fair to us at all & not the way to do business. She said, I will talk to [redacted] and have him call you. [redacted] never called nor, anyone called us. We had to call repeatedly for the next 2 weeks still never talking to [redacted] the so called owner. Only dealing with [redacted] and finally explaining if the problem wasn't resolved we would be contacting Spartanburg County for the theft of our thermostat. Only then did [redacted] agree to give us what we had originally paid for and been promised in the beginning.
Finally on December 2nd they came out [redacted] and [redacted] a so called service tech and installed a auto compatible thermostat. I feel that I should add the first one he included can be purchased at [redacted] for $49.00 and the new one is $59.00 All this over $10.00 difference? Might I add they took the other one as well as the box and paper work for the new one. So, had things gone as they should have I should still have my $100.00 thermostat and a new one as well....I have only the $59.00 one and he still took the $49.00 one to. Hmmm... who got s[redacted]ed here??? They leave I go to set my settings and get familiar with the new one. Good grief, no auto option... after consulting with a reputable HVAC person I was told that any it who works as a HVAC servicemen should know that to do auto function it has to be programmed to do so. I'm like okay can you tell me how? No, he said it should be on the paper work with the thermostat in the box. Well, well, guess who took that? But, apparently didn't have enough common sense to know what to do with it..Now, husband calls [redacted]'s cell once again, to tell him we need the papers to the thermostat to program it to do what all this was about... my husband also pointed out, he still felt we were getting [redacted]ed over and that he new the value of this thermostat was not any comparison to the one that they stole from us. [redacted]'s reply was I'm not gonna argue like children. My husband wasn't arguing we simply wanted what any unhappy customer wants the problem fixed, common courtesy and respect. Needless to say we got the codes needed from a reputable HVAC company who we wish we had went with in the first place.Funny thing is the first thermostat was auto programmable I'm just wandering shouldn't a licensed HVAC serviceman like [redacted] and his servicemen know that. Perhaps more schooling is needed. ??
SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND PAY MORE AND KEEP A WORTHY COMPANY IN BUSINESS!!!! DON'T USE "BOILING SPRINGS HEATING AND AIR LLC."

Attached please find the paperwork that Ms [redacted] is requesting and which has been mailed to her twice. It is still here awaiting the pick up she requested by her son in law as he never came by to get it. She is now asking for it to be mailed to a third address which I will do , this will also be the last mailing of said paperwork.
As to her statement that she never approved the initial payment be made to her CC , the last line of the proposal states that system could be installed contingent upon deposit being received which Ms. [redacted] did call to make over the phone. Also #7 states all payments are due after completion of completed work. Ms [redacted]   did
agree to said terms by her signature on the proposal that she faxed back to us.
Anytime she has called the office she has always had the option of leaving a message if we do not answer as we do have a 24 hr answering service, we can not always answer but do our best to return those calls ASAP.
Ms [redacted] is correct that statements she made to the insurance company true or not,  is  not our business nor do we care to make them such just stating that that statement along with the one she made to our technician made us uneasy about dealing with the situation  our selves.
We do strive to make our customers happy and have many that are well pleased with our work, but you can never please everyone such as the case with Ms [redacted] . She has everything we promised ( including the paperwork put in the mail to her third address )  and we do wish her well and many years of her system providing her much
heating and cooling comfort.
