Review: I entered Johnstone supply 1/2/2014 with a quote on a furnace igniter for a price of $30.43. When I got there I told him the part was for my personal use and not for my organization, So the cost went up to $45.99. That was not a problem I paid that price because I needed it and was already there. I came back the next day because the part did not fit my application. The bracket was wrong,the plug was wrong and so was the size of the element. He refused to give me the correct part because he said that is the one it called for without even checking the application again. He also said there was no refund on electrical parts and I agreed if he had gave me the part that fit. He proceeded to curse at me and threw me out of the store and followed me outside continuing to curse and ask me if I could read. He said there was a sign outside that said wholesale only. The problem was not that he had escalated the cost of the part and I guess he charged me more than retail. The problem was it was the wrong part for my furnace.Desired Settlement: I want people to know what kind of violent person the [redacted] is and let them know there are many other places to buy HVAC parts and equipment with good customer service and values.

This individual represented himself as an authorized dealer to us when the order was placed and the part we sold was the correct part based on the model number supplied to us. When he picked up the order he changed his story and told the count person it was for his personal furnace not the state agency he represented when the order was placed. When he entered the store he parked at the sign on the entrance to to the building that clearlt states "wholesale onyl to HVCr contractors and dealers". He stood at the sales counter that has a sign clearly stating "no returns on electrical parts" and signed the attached invoice that clearly states "no returns on electrical parts". He was also told when he purcahsed the part that we do not allow any returns of electrical parts.

When he returned with the part stating the part was not correct, it was learned that his defective part was not the originoal manufacturer's part and had been replaced and modified with another part. Therefore, the part we supplied would not have been the same as the modified part. We sell to licensed profession HVACR contractors and dealers. We do not solicit retail business and post signed stating our sales policy on the buidling, at our sales counter, on our sales invoices and company catalog. This individual is not a licensed contractor or dealer as represented to us. The tersm of the sale were final as printed on the invoice. When the individual begame argumentative at our sales count he was asked to leave and not return.

I would like to reply to the response from Johnstone Supply.

First of all I was never the one that ordered the part for my son’s furnace. The part was ordered by a friend of mine that is a certified HVAC mechanic and has dealt with Johnstone supply in the past. His name is the first one on the invoice. I never at any time in my career claimed to be a certified HVAC technician. I also never represented where I worked. I was on vacation and on my own time. I was just picking up the part for the HVAC technician so he could fix my son’s furnace and save some time since it was so cold outside. I never changed my story. How could I if I never talked to the [redacted] before I went to pick up the part?

One of the [redacted] concerns is that he has a sign that states” Wholesale only to HVCR contractors and dealers” . He didn’t have to sell me the part but he did. That was his choice and I don’t know why this is even a factor. He didn’t sell it to me at wholesale price he marked it up at least 50%.

I also realize there were signs and it was also written on the invoice “No return on electrical parts”. I have no problem with that if he would have gave me the correct part for my application. He didn’t and you will notice in the pictures I included. The original ( never modified or changed) has a Horizontal mount and the one he sold me mounts vertically with a different plug. There is also a universal mount available that has an additional bracket included. That would have also worked. There is no way what he gave me would work. I also included a picture of one of the replacements that would work.

When I tried to return the part he got obnoxious and angry and wouldn’t even look up the part again to see if he could of made a mistake. He got very violent . Showing me the sign and asked me to leave . I left the building and he continued to follow me outside. He continued to yell and curse. He was very violent and in my face. He did everything but touch me. He kept yelling for me to get out of his business. I reminded him that I was already outside and he needed to get out of my face. This man has a terrible anger problem and the public needs to know.
