JSM Consulting, LLC Reviews (45)

Please, Please do your research on this companyI have just received this email and it begins and ends just as others have described. This is a scam people do not fall for it!!!!

JSM Consulting has a team of knowledgeable and experienced people in the utilities space… we’ve worked with them for a number of years and we’ve had great results!

[redacted] was great. I had him make some edits to my website, and I was very happy with the end result -- it looks much better now. He was easy to work with, and gave me glimpses of the site while he worked on it, which helped make the process more efficient. His services were a great value!

Steer clear. Similar complaints to the negative reviews posted. Automated responses to emails, days after requesting information. Specific questions and requests for information ignored. I think this is "cattle call" recruiting and wouldn't waste my time.

[redacted] in depth knowledge of Digital Marketing and his drive and enthusiasm has propelled my business forward.

Great job guys! I couldn't ask for anymore! I am already seeing the new customers from the site update!

I was particularly impressed by the confidence in their skills that allows them to be able to work on a no win no fee basis. I must admit without this, my scepticism would have probably prevented us from working together.I would have no hesitation in recommending JSM Consulting to any of my business associates. Please pass on my thanks to all of the team.

great service

In my opinion, JSM Consulting and Co-Owner [redacted] are unethical, irrational, fraudulent and engage in fly-by-night recruitment tactics. I first was contacted by [redacted] (associated e-mails [redacted] and [redacted] are e-mails in which I received e-mail from him) on Oct. 24th 2014, as he found my information on a job board. As described in my revised complaint below, [redacted] did a poor job of following up with applicants (e-mail, phone or otherwise), didn’t answer any of my questions or any of my e-mails personally (any “response” I got was a canned, automated response with advertising for positions his clients had), and so I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. I put my complaint under the category “Advertising Issue - Bait and Switch”, with the following desired resolution being “I do not want to be contacted by e-mail, telephone, or snail mail, from ANYONE from either JSM Consulting or Crowe and Associates, I want to be permanently removed from all their lists, I want written confirmation of such an action from JSM Consulting, and my comments about my experience will remain, because I do not appreciate this company's bait and switch recruiting tactics, or their lack of transparency.” and received the following response from [redacted] on 11/17/2014 11:47:56 AM: “Hello [redacted] I hope I am answering your questions to satisfaction...I am a real person from a real company, I am not a recruiter but from time to time businesses that I work with ask for my help in staffing. Crowe and Associates is a real company under the umbrella of Torchmark/American income life. I would not and will not contact you in the future, you submitted your resume on a public site in hopes for employment so I offered you an employment opportunity-Gave you the company name -Address-Position they are hiring for (Union Benefit Specialist)There was no bait and switch as I offered you the position that they are hiring for which offers the average starting wage is around $60,000 a year. as stated in the email you provided to the Revdex.com I strongly feel words like bait and switch and other things you put in your email are slander so I would request you remove this compliant immediately. I believe I addressed all your concerns and I apologize I am not more available via phone. Michael Mell JSM Consulting [redacted] I had no intention of slandering [redacted], so after looking over his response I decided to modify my complaint to category "Customer Service Issue - The failure to respond to phone calls or written requests for assistance or support"., because [redacted] pointed out that there was no bait and switch with the company and position he was setting me up to interview with, and the "bait and switch" I was referring to was the interview format (I was expecting a 1-on-1 interview with someone and instead it was a cattle call interview where others were scheduled at the same time as I was, and I did not meet with the person he said I'd be meeting with). Other than that, I simply made sure certain statements were clarified as opinion and not fact, and the facts of the situation remained unchanged through the entire process. I submitted my revised complaint on 12/1/2014 12:00:00 AM which was as follows, and my desired resolution was the same: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10297229, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.”I would like to adjust the category to be "Customer Service Issue - The failure to respond to phone calls or written requests for assistance or support", and here is my revised statement: I was contacted by [redacted] of JSM Consulting via [redacted].com, who found my resume on one of the job boards online (not sure if it was Monster, CareerBuilder, Indeed, LinkedIn or another) on Oct. 24, 2014, with the following message: "Hello [redacted] I hope you are doing well! I am emailing you regarding the resume you posted online. I am currently consulting for a couple small businesses and assisting with several business developments in Ballwin, MO. After reviewing your resume, I think you would be a good fit for one of the several positions currently available. The primary position currently available is for a full time Union Benefits Representative, the average starting wage is around $60,000 a year. I am in the office Wednesday through Friday and was wondering if I could contact you for a five minute phone interview on either Thursday, October 30th between 1:00-2:00pm or Friday, October 31stbetween 3:00-4:00pm? Or is there a better time to call you at (my phone number)? Also, just so you know, there are no fees for you to use my service, assisting small businesses in finding qualified top-notch employees is included with my consulting fees which are covered by the business. If you find that these positions are not the right fit for you, no worries, I work with a number of other businesses and I may have another client that is hiring in the near future. Are you only looking for work in the [redacted] area? Would you consider other areas? I look forward to speaking to you! [redacted] JSM Consulting, LLC WWW.JSMFIRM.COM Phone: [redacted] Email: [redacted]" The offer sounded good, so I replied that I would be interested, and got the following response on Oct. 25, 2014 [email protected]: "Thank you so much for the reply message. I was hoping I would have a few moments to talk on the phone but looking at my upcoming schedule I figured I better get some details out to you right away regarding a position one our client’s is looking to get filled. Thank you again for your replied message. JSM is committed to helping small and large businesses with all of their needs, specializing in social media marketing. Crowe and Associates is currently hiring full time Union Benefit Representatives for their [redacted] Office, which is located at [redacted] (20 minutes [redacted]). I checked with their office manager [redacted] and he has openings on Tuesday or Thursday at 9:45am to meet in person if you could make it? I know it would be worth your time a he is looking for a number of people for all types of positions. Keep in mind we work with businesses all over the United States. Hope to talk to you soon JSM Consulting, LLC WWW.JSMFIRM.COM [redacted] Phone: [redacted] Email: [email protected]" Over the course of a couple e-mails [redacted] set up an interview with Nigel Crowe for me via this e-mail response: [redacted] via zoho.com Oct 25 (12 days ago) Hello [redacted], Your interview is set with [redacted] at [redacted], [redacted] on the 10/28 at 09:45 AM. I am glad we were able to find an available time for you and Nigel to meet. I emailed over your resume however, I recommend having a printed copy on hand. Also, please be sure to arrive 5-10 minutes early. [redacted] is looking forward to meeting with you. Keep in mind, they are hiring for a number of positions, during your interview be sure to express your interests with [redacted]. Good luck and please let me know how it goes! JSM Consulting, LLC WWW.JSMFIRM.COM [redacted] Email:[redacted] Never once was I able to contact [redacted] via telephone, and every time I did, it either said that my message would be transcribed to him via e-mail, or that the VM client could not automatically find a voice mail. I tried to do research on Crowe and Associates to learn about the company prior to interviewing, and initially thought I'd be interviewing for http://www.croweandassociates.com/. After researching online, signs appeared to point to "Crowe and Associates" merely being a branch of American Income Life, and I found an alarming article alleging unfair business/advertising tactics for one [redacted] (article is here: http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/nigel-crowe/sarasota-florida-/nigel-crowe-karen-cr... I did not know if this was the same [redacted]hat I'd be interviewing with or not, but I decided to give the [redacted] I'd be interviewing with the benefit of a doubt, and decided to e-mail Michael Mell with the following response, hoping to get my concerns addressed: Hello [redacted]l! I did some research on Crowe and Associates and I had a couple of questions I was hoping to run by you: - For the position of Union Benefits Representative that starts at about $60,000/year, is this a sales role or an administrative/HR role? The reason I ask is because I am in no way interested in sales positions, but if it's an administrative/HR role, that's a different story. - Is the compensation for Union Benefits Representative structured as salary, salary + commission, commission only, or salary vs commission draw? - How long has Crowe and Associates been in business? - How long has JSM represented Crowe and Associates? - Iswww.croweandassociates.com the correct website for the organization? - Is Crowe and Associates a subsidiary or branch office for another company/umbrella organization. I'd appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you! [redacted] Sent from my iPhone I did not hear anything back from [redacted], so I called the telephone number [redacted]l provided to me, and the woman on the other end of the line confirmed that the [redacted] was [redacted], and that it was indeed a branch of American Income Life; I asked more information about the position, and was referred to their HR person, who never returned my telephone calls. Having no luck with [redacted] or the HR person, I proceeded to the interview, and decided I'd have to judge from there the legitimacy of the position. I arrive on time for my interview at the designated place and location, and there is at least 10 other people in a small waiting room along with me, in what some describe, and what I would describe based on my own opinion as a “cattle call” style interview arrangement. I signed the appointment roster, and I see that others have indicated they are scheduled for the exact same interview time as I am, and I saw at least one individual on that roster who listed [redacted] as his referral source. I’m asked by a casually dressed secretary, who looks as though she may have been a minor (I could be wrong about that), to complete a brief piece of paper with application information. After watching others go before me, I did end up meeting with someone, and it was NOT [redacted] but a gentleman named [redacted], who asked me no more than 5 short questions, gave me the opportunity to ask questions, and then said phase 2 would be an in-person interview and I was dismissed. Having felt deceived by JSM Consulting and Crowe and Associates, I later called back and excused myself from any further part of the interview process. I sent a brutally honest reply to [redacted] on October 28 entitled “today’s interview”, which read thus: “Hello [redacted],I would like to request that you remove me from your talent database and not share my information with anyone further. After reading some things on the internet I had some concerns, which is why I asked you the questions I did (which you never answered or even said you received), but I decided to proceed to the interview and reserve judgment in case my instincts were wrong. They weren't. Quite frankly I'm appalled. I went to the interview expecting a 1-on-1 with [redacted], and saw the waiting area filled with candidates in a cattle-call type interview. I was also displeased that "Crowe and Asdociates" was really a life insurance firm, and I met with someone that wasn't [redacted] for a 5 question meet and greet. The worst part was I couldn't get any information out of you or anyone there regarding what the position entails! I feel deceived by both you and the organization due to your stonewalling, and if these are the kinds of "opportunities" JSM Consulting has for candidates, please count me out. Have a nice life.” I then received the following response on October 31st from [redacted] from his[redacted] e-mail: “Hello [redacted], I hope you are doing well! I am emailing you regarding the resume you posted online. I am currently consulting for a couple small businesses and assisting with several business developments in [redacted]. Hope to talk to you soon JSM Consulting, LLC WWW.JSMFIRM.COM Michael Mell Phone: [redacted] Email: [redacted] This firm, in my opinion, is deceptive in what they advertise to candidates, they are terrible at customer follow-up, and they (intentionally in my opinion) do not answer candidates questions. By their lack of customer follow up and the extremely automated style of e-mail responses, I was began to question if [redacted] is a real person, and thought “For all I know he could just be someone sitting in their underwear working remotely from home on a laptop vs. in an office anywhere.” By their actions, my opinion is that it would appear they are more interested in getting bodies in the door for their clients than sending qualified candidates, and I was straight-out lied to that I’d be meeting with the person [redacted] said I’d be meeting with. My opinion is that I was deceived and “baited and switched” not about the position itself, but about the interview format; I was expecting a 1-on-1 interview (and Michael did use the term “interview”) with someone named [redacted] at a specified time, and instead it was what I’d describe as a cattle call mass interview scheduling, the person I met with was not [redacted] and no one from the company or [redacted] attempted to inform me “[redacted] can’t meet with you due to xyz circumstances so instead you will be meeting with [redacted]”, and the so-called “interview” was no more than 5 questions in length, with instructions that the hiring/reviewing process would be 3 fold. I feel, in my opinion, that [redacted] intentionally did not attempt to address my concerns via phone or e-mail or even clarify that this Crowe and Associates was not the http://www.croweandassociates.com business. I gave [redacted] the opportunity to answer my questions, and I received no response by phone or e-mail from him, and nothing in my communications to and from [redacted] would have indicated to any reasonable person that I would not be the only person scheduled at this interview time, that it would be in the cattle call format, or that I would be meeting with anyone other than [redacted]. Based on this lack of information and lack of response from [redacted] it is my opinion that [redacted] new from the start that this would be the interview format, and intentionally did not share that information with me; had shared this information with me, I likely would have told him “thanks but no thanks” to the opportunity and request to be removed from his mailing list. If nothing else, I think it’s reasonable to say that [redacted] customer relationship management with candidates for his opportunities was very poor, and it took a complaint to the Revdex.com to even get Michael’s attention to this matter. Regards, [redacted] In response to that complaint, I received the following response from [redacted] on 12/1/2014 11:27:05 AM: Hello [redacted] Again I am not sure what you would like me to do or what you are requesting? By your own admission -You were looking for employment-I emailed you an employment offer-Gave you all the details (including business name, address and position)-Responded to all of your emails I also sent you an email apologizing that I would be unable to call you and on my voicemail it says that email is the best form of contact? I have no obligation to call you, you are not a customer of JSM Consulting and you continue to state and imply things that are not true. I am requesting for the second time now that you retract and remove all slander immediately.” However this time, [redacted] without a doubt flat-out lied in his response; any “response” to “all my e-mails” were simply the canned examples I’ve given in my complaint, he never answered any of my questions regarding the interview, and his statement of “you are not a customer of JSM Consulting” is not only wrong, but insulting, and proves, in my opinion, that he’s simply in the business of getting any warm bodies he can in the door for his clients in his cattle call interviews. True, I am not a customer of JSM Consulting in the sense of I pay [redacted] for his consultation services, or I pay [redacted] for him to set me up with interviews, but because [redacted] is serving in the role of recruiter (even though he says he is not a recruiter), and he was supposed to assist me in employment with his clients, that is a customer/service provider relationship. Even though there was no payment, the payouts for him for his service to me would have been a) strengthened positive relationships between myself and the client he placed me with because I would have performed well, and b) REFERRALS from me to him, thereby resulting in more positive relationships with clients and potential clients and positive word of mouth. But because [redacted] treated me as a dime-a-dozen warm body, he’s not going to get that from me, and thus caused me to complain to the Revdex.com. As for any “slander” at that point, there was none, as everything in my revised complaint was and is 100% true and I have every piece of e-mail to back up the facts, and I also searched through every inbox, spam, junk and other folder and have NO responses from [redacted]ell other than those canned advertising responses, so unless [redacted] is referring to those (which did in no way answer any of my concerns or inquiries), he’s a complete liar. Furthermore, NOT ONCE did [redacted] say Crowe and Associates was an American Income Life office, until I complained to the Revdex.com, and I originally found out by calling the office. I did some research and found that there were others who had similar experiences with [redacted] on the following threads: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx[redacted] and http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/JSM-Consulting-of-USA/Beltsville-Maryland-20705/JS... I looked up his name in the Wisconsin Case Net Criminal Database, and found that there is a Michael T. Mell who was a losing Defendant doing business under the company “My Family Getaways” in a suit between the State of Wisconsin and My Family Getaways (Dane County Case Number 2013CV000120 Filed 01-10-2013), a business that allegedly sold consumers vacation packages and the services were not what consumers were promised (per this article: http://www.wkow.com/story/15551264/web-series-shows-inside-look-at-local-call-ce... furthermore, according to the State of Wisconsin, a [redacted] born in 1978 has a misdemeanor (retail theft, battery, operating motor vehicle while revoked x4 between 2002-2008) and felony (taking vehicle and driving w/o permission in 2004) criminal history (according to website http://wcca.wicourts.gov/pager.do;jsessionid=0C69F62EFC20B8750872F6C789FB5289.re... I did not remove my complaint or revise my statements any further, and I closed the complaint with this response on 12/1/2014 9:10:55 PM: “Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10297229, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. The business has removed me from its mailing list, and I have revised my previous complaint to more appropriately reflect the nature of my grievance. Having revised this, I am not removing my complaint, because my up-to-date complaint has nothing slanderous contained therein despite what this person says. Regards,[redacted] So I thought that was the end of it, but to my shock and surprise, I get a LINKEDIN INVITATION from [redacted] on 12/18/2014, after all this back and forth between me and him via Revdex.com! I waited a few days, thinking maybe it was a mistake on his part or perhaps a virus, but the invitation was never rescinded, so I blocked him, and I am now renewing my complaint with the Revdex.com because [redacted] broke the desired resolution that I would not be contacted by him or anyone else from JSM Consulting. Based on my past experience and opinion of [redacted] character, it is my opinion he was trying to access my LinkedIn contacts to try and contact them with his misleading “opportunities” Looking at previous complaints here and elsewhere, it appears [redacted] defense to every complaint against him for his poor and misleading services is to accuse the complainant of slander, point out obvious details (ex. “you were looking for a job, I gave you this information”) that have little to no relevance to the nature of why the person is complaining, and possibly threaten them with legal action. I am not revising or removing anything in this complaint, and nothing [redacted] says or threatens will change that; the facts in my experience are 100% true as I have stated them, opinion is clearly stated, and related information has been given the appropriate sources. Fortunately in my case, all that was wasted was my valuable time, and I hope this review saves others from the mistake of replying to anything from JSM Consulting. This firm and [redacted] are unprofessional, dubious, misleading, vague, shady, and care nothing about providing true talent for their clients, just warm bodies. JOB SEEKERS AND THOSE SEEKING CONSULTING ADVICE FROM THEM, STEER CLEAR!!

I have been searching for a job and was excited to receive an email from JSM Consulting. I will make this brief and to the point. I received the exact same email from a Michael ____ that other reviewers received. I replied and I received again the same exact reply (initially offering a phone interview, then cancelling it as his schedule did not permit). He sent yet another email giving interview information with a company name (which I will withhold) which when looking up online in my local area, did not exist at said address. I then googled the address provided for the interview and it comes up to another company name (which I will withhold as it appears they are open for business selling supplemental life insurance) Needless to say, that was part of my reply email stating I am only interested in a salaried position, not commission. I again read all of the emails sent by this person and realized should I attend this interview this Wednesday @ 9:45am (yes, the exact same time as another reviewer mentioned) it would be more or less a "cattle call" style of interviewing. I do not know the integrity of the life insurance company as I do not plan on attending the interview but I question them doing business with this person/company. It is difficult enough to secure a job, us job seekers should not have to weed through scams! To anyone claiming to work for or represent this company and accuse me of slander - I have declared my review as my opinion and experience (both completely legal and in no way can it legally be labeled slanderous) not a statement of fact.

Perfect Consulting Agency, understand the needs of clients and individuals and helpinh them out in the right time

They set me up for an interview with a company, without giving me a job description for the position. I figured I didn't have much to lose. When I arrived, I saw that 20 other people were interviewing for the position, and it was a job selling insurance. Something I was definitely not interested in. It was a waste of my time, I feel very deceived by them.

Like 1/2 dozen other "agencies" JSM Consulting, LLC was like the rest. A neatly packaged email designed to pull the wool over my eyes. Sorry guys, I do my homework and just like the others' emails, mine was the same. Sent to me on 2-16-2015 as follows: I hope you are doing well! I am emailing you regarding the resume you posted online. I am currently consulting for a couple small businesses and assisting with several business developments in Harrisburg, PA. After reviewing your resume, I think you would be a good fit for one of the several positions currently available. The primary position currently available is for a full time Benefits Representative, the average starting wage is around $60,000 a year. I am in the office Friday and was wondering if I could contact you for a five minute phone interview between 1:00-2:00pm? Or is there a better time to call you at 717-824-[redacted]?
Also, just so you know, there are no fees for you to use my service, assisting small businesses in finding qualified top-notch employees is included with my consulting fees which are covered by the business. If you find that these positions are not the right fit for you, no worries, I work with a number of other businesses and I may have another client that is hiring in the near future. Are you only looking for work in the 17601 area? Would you consider other areas?
I look forward to speaking to you! [redacted]

All I am going to say is that my email correspondences have been the EXACT wording as everyone else says they received. That brings some doubt in my opinion..

I received an email from a Michael [redacted]. I have not been looking for a job in 4 years, I have been employed for almost 4 years. Today I got the traditional email he sends everyone:
hope you are doing well! I am emailing you regarding the resume you posted online. I am currently consulting for a couple small businesses and assisting with several business developments in (My Area). Or is there a better time to call you at XXX-XXX-XXXX? Also, just so you know, there are no fees for you to use my service, assisting small businesses in finding qualified top-notch employees is included with my consulting fees which are covered by the business.
Job Seekers beware this is a scam. A reputable company will NOT send everyone the exact same email, and most companies call you before they email you.

Both I and my senior team have worked with JSM Consulting on various projects over the past number of years. In all cases we have found them to add value to any given project or assignment.Great!

JSM provided services that exceed the expectations of our organization. We would certainly consider doing business with them again and would happily recommend their services to others. If you have needs for consulting services, JMS has high quality consultants that are competent and capable of meeting your organizational needs.
