Kareem Auto Sales Inc. Reviews (40)

I am rejecting this response because:Addressing the issues of how we got home is not relevant to the complaints we have made. Your dealership was closed during our drive home. My first call to you was the next day. Our complaints are as follows: 1. Fraudulent evaporative systems codes and smog certification2. Back door lock repair guarantee 3. Suspension failed after one hour driving I just noticed the complaint that was logged with the Revdex.com previous to ours was almost identical to ours. It states huge repairs needed immediately after purchase, smog certification, and evaporative system issues. In the previous complaint it states an investigation was conducted and it is believed that Kareem knew of the issues regarding the evap system and did not disclose them. Our mechanic has stated in a written statement, and is willing to testify, that the car we purchased could not have passed a smog certification in the condition it was sold to us. Under Kareem’s ownership it was given a smog certification only miles prior to our purchase. The car was purchased As Is, but the seller is responsible for providing a legal smog certification. It has cost over $1,to bring the car to smog emissions guidelines and new suspension. Our out of pocket for these two major issues has been $Regarding the back door lock repair Kareem guaranteed the lock to be properly repaired at time of purchase. It was a condition of sale for us. The back door lock was not fixed with proper parts and wires had been cut to put in the wrong parts. Our mechanic took pictures of the shoddy repair. We have paid $to have it put in working condition. We have the paid receiptYour response to the complaints and issues is the car was sold AS IS. AS IS, does not legalize fraudulent representation and or statement and advertising regarding a legal smog certification. In our favor we have our mechanic (a smog expert) who has taken pictures and is willing to provide statements or testify in our favorYou sent us a check for $(not $300.00) for the cracked dashboard replacement. At the purchase you said you would take $off the purchase price or Kareem would replace it. We choose to pay full price but when Kareem could not replace it we asked for the $as per our agreement. Our only resolution at this level is our reimbursement of door lock repair ($544.65) and evaporative system and suspension repair costs ($320.91). The total for resolution is $

I am rejecting this response because:
Kareem is stating that this car was sold and has a clean smogThere reason to believe that the "check engine" code was cleared prior to the sale because there would be no reason for the check engine light to come on an hour off the lotThe *** ** *** *** did their investigation, and though I can't reveal the details of the report, it's believed that Kareem knew of the issues regarding the evaporation system and didn't disclose it.
This is not resolved

Hello,
*This vehicle was sold as-is
*It has been smogged by an independent smog facility in CAIt has also been smogged recently by the previous owner(s) on 08/27/and 11/19/2012.
*On the sales contract (553) section AVehicle license fees you were charged an estimate of "$0"On
section BRegistration/Transfer/Titling Fees you were charged "$15" and the *** was paid $as stated clearly on your copy of the vehicle registration card
*Our vehicles are sold with no returns
Best Regards

I am rejecting this response because: As far as I'm concerned this matter is not closedIts appears that this business doesn't want to do the right thing

As per the guidelines stipulated in the vehicle service contract you voided the service contract by lifting the vehicleAlthough you voided the warranty through your own actions the Service contract provider had already agreed to offer you a full refund (as you are well aware)Secondly, this
vehicle was purchased August 8, in working conditionIf you are currently experiencing transmission slipping, it is due to modifications you have made to the vehicle

I am rejecting this
response because: the vehicle was sold to me in an unsafe condition AND *** autos ales KNEW about many of the dangerous problems with the vehicleAlso the nonchalant threats I recieved once those papers were signed from the owner was very outragiousThey made me feel as if once those papers were signed I could do nothing and was screwedThis business should go under review for the cars they sell including paperwork and their "inspections" on the vehicles that I never saw or recieved any paperwork forThe car fax report doesn't mean much when people can hide issues by not reporting them to insurance companies

I am rejecting this response because I was told specifically by warranty representative that warranty should never have been sold to me because truck was sold with aftermarket rims This is an issue we will never agree onI just know I won't ever give Kareem Auto business again

Hello Mr. [redacted]We try our best to ensure the satisfaction of our customer’s before and after the sale. We definitely do not like hearing about unhappy customers. It’s unfortunate that you feel this way . I would like to share our side of this transaction and reply to all of your concerns step by...

step. Perhaps after you read our viewpoint you will come to the conclusion that we did everything possible to give you a positive experience.1. The car was sold for $18,002.91 + tax/lic. We were asking $18,700, but discounted ($697.09) the vehicle in order to facilitate the sale.2. As a service to our customer we provide free [redacted]’s for all of our vehicles. We are not required to disclose history, however as a good faith gesture to our customer we try to be as transparent as possible. We still have a copy of the [redacted] that we gave you. It clearly indicates a 1-owner vehicle and No accident/damage reported. I do not think that you are aware of how [redacted] works. The DMV has not been reporting an accident since 2012 otherwise the [redacted] would not be clear. [redacted] searches and purchase information from all types of sources. Sometimes accidents, transfers, services don’t show up immediately. I think you are better off filing a complaint with [redacted]. Attached is a copy of the [redacted] printed at that time.3. I think most people would find it hard to believe that you were not given the opportunity to fully inspect the vehicle you were purchasing. For instance, after your test drive, I assume that you did not park it back in such a tight place out of fear of colliding with another vehicle. After your test drive you didn’t walk around the vehicle? Pop the hood? 4. Warranties do not cover diagnostic costs up-front. You have to pay for a diagnostic to determine what the issue is and if your warranty will cover it. You purchased a 90 day power train warranty backed by [redacted] for $300. Warranty Solutions is the best Used Auto Service Contract provider available. From what I understand of your statement you did not want to pay the $120 that it would take to diagnose an issue that would have been covered by your service contract and in consequence the water pump failed after the service contract expired. That was a bad decision on your end. If you had paid for the diagnostic, the service contract could have refunded you the cost of the diagnostic as well as the entire service. We are not at fault for that. Furthermore, you purchased a vehicle with 68k miles, a water pump service would have been in your near future anyways. Furthermore, water pump replacements do not cost $1700. Here is a link to repair pal, the very first site that popped up in my goodle search of lexus IS water pump service. They state the average costs for this service is between $387 - $483. I’m sorry if you over-paid that much for a water pump replacement.  Here is the link:     [redacted]5. We do not do detail’s after the sale. Period. The only thing we might do after the sales is have the dust washed off. The Detail shop that we use is professional and services all the Dealer’s in our area. I agree with your last statement “the car has been fun and reliable”.Take Care.

We have reviewed your complaints. We reject your allegations, they are untrue and unrepresentative of the facts at hand.

I am rejecting this response because:  I called ** on 5/3/16 as per his request.  He asked a question regarding the amount of money for our resolution.  I told  him it was as requested initially $865.56.  I also told him we were just notified by bay area fast trac that our traded in 2001 4 runner had been in violation while crossing the bay bridge.  The total was $31.00 for that violation.  He said our Bill of Sale was proof  that we did not own the car on that date and not to worry about it.  ** said he would present the owners of the dealership with the amount I stated and would see what they say.  He said he would get back to me.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

1)The tires that were on the vehicle are rated 118 on the Load index which means they can support 2910 lbs of weight per tire. Those 4 tires will support a combined weight of 11640 lbs.The vehicle you purchased has a GVWR of only 9600. THE GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATE (GVWR), OR GROSS VEHICLE...

MASS (GVM) IS THE MAXIMUM OPERATING WEIGHT/MASS OF A VEHICLES AS SPECIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER INCLUDING THE VEHICLE'S CHASSIS, BODY, ENGINE, ENGINE FLUIDS, FUEL, ACCESSORIES, DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND CARGO BUT EXCLUDING THAT OF ANY TRAILERS. 2)The stock tire size on this model is a 245/70R17E. If you are upset about the tires not being up to "spec" why did you purchase 35"s? Why did that shop sell you those tires? These are not factory recommended tires. As a matter of fact, the installation of 35"s will often void manufacturer warranties / extended service contracts because of their over size.  3)You replaced batteries and alternator? I am not sure who "advised" you on that, usually an alternator will drain a battery. You replace the alternator and should be able recharge the batteries. Regardless, it's been a year and you bought a used vehicle.4)            I don't expect an apology from you however if you have any sense of decency I would expect you to remove these false and inaccurate reviews.

I am rejecting this response because:-"we would have the repair made at a shop that we regularly do businesswith, at OUR EXPENSE." Disagree-That is a straight lie, they never offered for any kinds of repairs at their expense, they offered to "get ME a good price on repairs at their contracted shop" never was it offered to pay for therepairs otherwise it would have been resolved already. And "main transmission seal, and shift shaft collar replacement is hardly just "an oil leak"-"This vehicle (my trade in) needed extensive mechanical and body work inorder for it to meet our standards for resale." Disagree-it needed new seats due to tears in the leather, and had fading paint (i have old before pictures so you can see the before condition),thats hardly extensive mechanical work the motor and transmission and entire drivetrain are in perfectly sound condition.-"Mr. [redacted] declared that he had extensive knowledge of these vehicles" Disagree- "I said I had owned one before, that hardly qualifies asextensive knowledge" I am not a factory trained [redacted] Technician.-“,took our trade infor 1000$ below value” Disagree - As a matter of fact, based on KBB (since that seems like what youare using) your vehicle was in fair - poor condition (once again, trade-ins are appraised on conditions, not retail units), the $6000that we paid for your 2004 (10 years old!) 151k mile! vehicle was above it’s market value. -Disagree "my vehicle had 94k miles, here it is [redacted] soyou should make sure your talking about the right vehicle when references are cited by being accurate. (It even says the mileage on the sales paperwork as well). Appraised trade in value was 7500$ but minus 1000$ for a paint job and minus 500$ for seats equaling 6000$ which as you can see what they are selling it for. Which is more than the amount the vehicle we purchased from them.- "No one advised you to wait 30 days", Disagree- this is a lie because the associate did advise this to us in a semi serious tone with a direct statement when questioned about the warranty-"Franchise Dealerships make much of their profit in the service sectionconvincing uninformed consumers that their vehicles are “dangerous”in need of “massive overhaul”."Disagree-[redacted] of Fairfield has an extensive track record of excellentbusiness practices, as in they have performed many repairs at ZEROcost to their customers along the lines of "massive overhaul" sothat is improper to state that [redacted] of Fairfield as well as ALL dealerships have unethical businesspractices. When I have a first hand account of great servicecomplete with paperwork that they have repaired on one of our vehiclesat ZERO cost.

We by stand our previous response. After reviewing the facts we consider this matter closed.

This vehicle was 2005 Honda Pilot sold November 6th 2016 with 127k miles.  All of our vehicles pass smog and safety inspection by a licensed third party service center. The vehicle was sold in mechanically sound condition. At the time of sale you were offered the opportunity to purchase an...

extended service contract. This vehicle is 12 years old with 127k.  This vehicle was sold as-is. You are responsible for it's upkeep. Regarding ownership, attached is the Carfax signed by you which clearly states 1-owner. The report states in numerous occasions "Title Issue or update/Registration issued or renewed/Loan or lien reported" ----- the OR'S are important. Title is Issued or "UPDATED". Perhaps that is the source of your confusion. As far as Auctions, yes the vehicle was bought wholesale at an auction. Car's are new before they become used. When they are used people trade them in. The dealership trading the vehicle in can sell it retail if they have the room or they will wholesale (auction) to another dealer. That is how the entire industry works. I'm not sure where you think used car inventories come from but now you know.  We believe when we sold the car nothing was wrong mechanically. We bear no responsibility for the vehicle you purchased as-is.

Hello,Please call me at ###-###-#### so that I can get more information and address this situation.Regards, **

I am puzzled by the inconsistencies of your opening statements. You said you live "3 hours away" and started having "major driving and mechanical issues" within "an hour" That means less than 60 minutes. According to this complaint you called our dealership and we instructed you to immediately...

return so that we could try to assist you if there was a problem. You stated that the "car was dangerous" and you couldn't "afford to have it towed back". Somehow you proceeded to take it to your mechanic? You decided to either drive for an additional 2 hours or had it towed for that distance instead of bringing it back to Kareem Auto Sales which was a distance covered in less than 60 minutes. This just doesn't add up.When you originally saw the vehicle you complained of a crack in the dashboard.  We have sent you a check for $300 to cover the costs of replacing or refurbishing that piece. The vehicle was sold as-is, that means once you leave the dealership with the vehicle in your possession you are the sole owner and responsible for any future services, repairs, or accidents. We sell used cars. The vehicle you purchased is 11 years old with 125k miles. It is reasonable to assume that repairs may be needed at anytime. All of our customers are offered the opportunity to purchase a service contract.

I am rejecting this response because:. I waa td by warranty adjustor that the.warranty was voided because it did not have factory rims. As I told.him, I brought it with after market rims. I sent a picture to kareem auto aa directed to prove how I bought it. NOW kateem auto is changing the reason my warranty was voided. Also I have had issues with transmission since I bought the truck. It was noted and I was instructed to take it to Their mechanic COOKS.... So kareem auto knows the truck had issues.  Also the "as ia" has rhe vin number of a [redacted] tahoe. I still think Kareem Auto should pay something for transmission. If they were a.goid, reputable dealer.they.would work wirh.their customers instead of putting the blame on tge customer. BAD BUSINESS Practices

Attached is the SIGNED carfax history report that was disclosed to you at the time of sale. "I spoke with the dealership on 30 September 2015 and confirmed that they did not present a car fax or disclose to me that there was an accident on the vehicle." This is a false statement.Carfax reports...

are listed on our website and signed during any sale of a vehicle. If you need any further assistance please contact us at [redacted]
